I for one have a very surprising baby.

Spotty you know you're preaching to the choir over here. Another 6 hour football match here again today. He would also eat pizza every meal too. His mum used to pander to him and let him. No wonder he was 21 st when he moved in with me. Lost 7 st in the first year Shock

Ha WL good for you.

I'm already fed up of the pulling himself up. I literally cannot leave a leg or an arm still for a second before it's used as a climbing frame. I'm doing better than DP though, J has pulled himself up using his knob as a handy handle several times this week Grin

Bedtime has been a bloody battle all week and today has been no exception. He's tired and whingy from 6:30 but won't go to bed until 8:30/9:00, driving me nutty!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/08/2013 20:42

Ds isn't very good at pulling up think he's got our week legs Sad

Goodness dp eats shit all the time (whole packets of biscuits most nights etc) but only weighs 10.5 stone Hmm I expect he's very grateful to you WillYou as he can play football easier now Wink

WLmum · 17/08/2013 20:44

willyou lol at handy handle!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/08/2013 20:48

Grin I missed that WillYou!

Maryland2013 · 17/08/2013 21:22

Very funny Willyou but surely very painful for dh?! How did you stop yourself laughing?!

WLmum · 17/08/2013 21:25

Thanks ladies. Pil tend to think I'm a bit bolshy.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 17/08/2013 23:13

I didn't Maryland, I loled as DP shouted "ow my bell end!"

It's early days yet Spotty they'll all do it in their own time. J's only been at it a week. F was very good at walking on your video so it's swings and roundabouts.

WLmum · 17/08/2013 23:38

spotty dd1&2 did nothing but sit really until 11 months. I'm v surprised to see T on the move already.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/08/2013 03:57

Well this 8 month sleep regression is bloody prompt. J was 8 months on Friday. Tonight he woke at 2am, not for anything; he wants to play. He's not done this for months. 2 hours in I'm knackered. Let me sleep, I'm begging!

utopian99 · 18/08/2013 04:04

Thanks for birthday wishes, had a nice one despite today being the day we drove back from holiday (pils booked it without checking dates with us, hence have missed two friends 30ths and drove home from Wales to Surrey on mine!)
Stopped off at botanic gardens of Wales to admire Foster's dome in the wet and Os very taken with their fishpond, then stopped again in Bristol to see one of my best friends andher dh and 5 month old.

spotty if your dh is being twattish about your home cooking just 'filling up', I'd give him a loaf of bread and tell him to sort himself out. Also agree with the £50k comment. Had an ex who used to make music essentially to amuse himself (no problem with that,) who referred to himself as 'a musician', but didn't even try to gig, just locked himself away to tinker with mixing decks. No issues with having a hobby, it just drove me loopy he pretended it was any more than that.

wl good for you on the salad. I'd expect a proper mains for £8 too.

willyou brilliant (painful) handle! One of my friends apparently bit her df on the willy when she was crawling age. He was wearing a dressing gown and was on the floor with her and presumably it was in the warpath!

utopian99 · 18/08/2013 04:05

Ds just pooed. He never poos at night any more... argh.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/08/2013 04:18

Haha that's ace Utopian (not for him obviously). J loves to bite your toes when you're not looking so he's be well up for that I'd imagine. I'll warn DP not to leave it dangling in the way Grin

We have an extremely restless sleep here, going to try and get some myself. Night (morning) all

SpottyTeacakes · 18/08/2013 06:16

Wait until they're walking, both dd and my friends dd have gone into the bathroom with their daddy and put their hand in a mid stream wee ShockGrin

Sorry to hear of bad nights relaxing Sundays for you all.

I tried talking to dp last night but he just cake out with the usual 'well I don't stop you from going out' followed by a sigh and shake of the head.

I've got to go to the opticians today. Each time I get pregnant my eyes get worse apparently its not actually my eyes but my brain unable to adjust to the changed Hmm stupid brain costing me money

WLmum · 18/08/2013 07:02

Glad you had a nice bday utopian

Well either I jinxed it or we have on the dot 8 month (today!!) regression - had a 3am wake up with objections to being settled so I caved and fed her. Better be a one off! I'll be standing my ground tonight if it happens again - determined not to go backwards - even though I'm back to work tomorrow Sad

itsMYNutella · 18/08/2013 08:06

spotty then take him up on his offer. Leave bottles for DS and next Saturday/Sunday other suitable day take yourself off at 10am for something just for you (cafe, cinema, swim, reading in peace, massage whatever) and return home an hour later than you said you would.

We can't be having 8 month sleep regression... DS isn't 8 months yet!!
Last night and Friday night he has woken: 00:30, 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30.... But apparently he can when almost exactly two hours has passed so I'm taking an award for that! Oh and he has then been up for the day at 6:30 Sad I was so happy he was a lazy baby waking between 7&8

How do I know when and how to try sleep training? Do I need to plan a few days at home to make naps regular? I am so tired today!!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/08/2013 08:30

Nutella I would either concentrate on naps or night time hopefully then the other will fall into place? I think you need to try it when you can no longer cope Grin

WLmum · 18/08/2013 08:40

I agree with spotty and am liking your thinking re staying out nutella!

WLmum · 18/08/2013 08:41

Incidentally I worked on nights and naps fell into place. Good luck!

itsMYNutella · 18/08/2013 10:05

Thanks WL and Spotty I was so happy that his nights seemed to be getting better....

It's the last two nights or so... He seems to have gradually gone from sleeping through (till 5 ish then sleeping again until 7am ish after a feed) to sleeping really badly this weekend. His nights were getting better and his naps were still awful Confused... hmmm I'm tempted not to feed him at night at all (I mean between about 10pm and 5am) and get DP to settle him if possible...

I think nights might be best because I always want to do something during the day and staying in all day to work on his naps will drive me very potty - my baby is like me, I need to get out and see people!!

utopian99 · 18/08/2013 10:26

I just do what I need to in the day and on the whole ds arranges his naps around it so he gets 3 somehow. The only pproblem is when I desperately need to get some drawings out and he won't nap for boob but falls asleep as soon as I give up and leave the house..

One more day of all-day-daddy for O. They have spent a happy hour larking with bricks while I got all sorts of tidying done. It's sad how much I enjoy tidying/ filing. My main present was a new changing bag that looks like a proper bag. It has Many Many Compartments. Ds has just fallen asleep so am off to have a fun wildly anally retentive time filing them!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/08/2013 17:00

It's not looking good for tonight's sleep: J has been asleep for 2 hours, woke up and promptly conked out again downstairs. We now can't get him to wake up for love nor money. We took him swimming this morning and he's completely exhausted Confused

lazzaroo · 18/08/2013 19:07

WL hope return to work tomorrow goes ok

We've had lovely afternoon out but baby lazza hasn't slept and is very sleepy now while feeding. We're on day 3 of self settling but I think she's going to fall asleep on the boob! Confused what then?!

nutella I was desperate so started sleep training Fri night. It has improved things. Our naps are so random that I still rock o sleep or they are in car/pushchair. Kind of like & need some flexibility for DD1. Nights seem easier, as I know she's tired!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/08/2013 19:26

I'd just pop her down lazza Smile

WillYou I hope j sleeps tonight!

WL good luck tomorrow I'm sure it'll be fine

Well we had a busy day we were out and ds didn't sleep for four hours Shock he was really good though (he can do that in the afternoon but not usually more than two in the morning) opticians cost me 155 pounds Sad but dp bought lunch Grin

Barbeasty · 18/08/2013 19:41

Good luck tomorrow WL.

I have the baby who is best at continuously hitting his head with the stairgate for fun.

He is also the best at shutting himself in the lounge behind the door which opens towards him so that DH had to squeeze through another door and climb over the sofa that blocks it to get in to him.

And I seem to have the 3 year old who is most obsessed with poo, wee and bottoms.

She also appears to have the most awkward feet. We went to try and get some winter shoes today (she only has sandals or wellies at the moment), but there wasn't a pair in the shop which fitted Shock

Her feet won't squeeze into boots and the only shoes not tight either over her big toe or across her toes were too long. Poor DD. We have to go back in a few weeks when they have more stock in.

Wish A seemed even vaguely sleepy right now! He crawled out of the lounge for the first time today too.

lazzaroo · 18/08/2013 19:44

I did spotty, like your ds she was awake for 4.5hrs this afternoon & then only had catnap in car, so she was whacked. I could never wake her just to put her down again! She was a star all afternoon though, considering the lack of sleep. It was lovely Smile

I have opticians next week, babies do something funny to my eyes too!
