I was halfway into my first glass of wine when I realised that I had bought steak yesterday. So dinner cheered me up a lot. Poor DS1 and DS2 had pizza.
J has done another three poos since I last posted, varying from normal to runny. I spent about three or four hours trying to get him to sleep yesterday afternoon. When DH came home the breakfast dishes were still on the table because J wouldn't let me put him down, even in his Jumperoo, wouldn't sleep and wouldn't be entertained by his brothers for a bit. DH managed to get him to sleep at 5.30 whereas I would have been trying to keep him up for his dinner and put him down at 6.30 for the night. So of course J woke up at 9.30 and had to be fed then wasn't back in bed until after midnight. I ended up sleeping with him on the floor of his bedroom to get him over to sleep which was excruciating on my back. Then DS2 was up in the night and J woke again at 4 for his usual feed. It's been three bad days and nights lately. I'm getting a bit desperate as I'm not getting anything done in the house and I have urgent paperwork that I can't get any time to sort until the evening when I'm too exhausted to face it.
On the book front no-one has mentioned Dr Seuss yet. One bit makes me think of James: "I do not like this one so well. All he does is yell yell yell. I will not have him in the house. When he comes in I put him out." I also like the line from The Cat in the Hat: "The mess was so big, and so deep, and so tall. We could not clean it up, there was no way at all." Green Eggs and Ham is brilliant too.
There are lots of Thomas the Tank Engine books that were written later and don't have Awdry's obsession with train details and moralising. DS2 does still like the originals though. Has anyone mentioned We're Going on a Bear Hunt yet? I like The Elephant and the Bad Baby too.
