Eep eliza! How exciting!!

Ah. The book people VQ? That would have saved me, oooo, a million pounds today. Ah well!

Mr rabbit is pie!

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/07/2013 22:54

Ah cross posts vq How could I forget room on the broom. Am taking DD1 to see that at the theatre in August. She loved the TV programme of it that was on at xmas. Night, sleep tight.

I bought the complete series of the Mr Men for DD1 before she was born as I grew up with those and loved them. But gosh, they are very wordy and some of the stories are very odd. My fave was Mr Snow and I used to make my mum read it to me every morning over an over again.

ValiumQueen · 25/07/2013 22:55

The book people are worth looking at. Lovely Peppa Pig books too, and Rainbow Fairies for when they are bigger.

Was Sophia having her op today or did I dream it?

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 22:57

My mum has bought the DDs heaps of books from the Book People. I am just grateful that they don't deliver to France as otherwise my bank balance would be even scarier than it already is. Envy of cheap books

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 22:58

Soohia was having her op today vq but no news. I assume she is on bed rest Envy

Hope it went well.

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2013 22:59

Yes she was!

Hia sophia!!

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:00

I am just hoping against futile hope that Jonas doesn't get into Thomas the tank engine. The books are dreadful! Written by a pontificating vicar with harsh moral lessons battered around and dull engine terminology Confused ......

And his midnight feed is now Envy suppose its better timing if it's either / or - please don't be in addition to it. He wasn't thrilled with a calpol starter. But is clinging onto my arm and patting my mouth softly. It's a good thing you're cute child.

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:01

Thanks Sophia - get yer feet up lass x

ValiumQueen · 25/07/2013 23:05

Yes Sophia remember the recovery is as long as a C section so make the best of it by resting x

I was just going to talk fondly of Thomas.............

ValiumQueen · 25/07/2013 23:07

I am going to sleep now, honest.

YW J is a snogger too. The girls never did that. It is quite unnerving but very lovely too Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 23:07

Hmm. If you had to choose between Thomas and Alice in Wonderland and the Narnia books.... Which would you go for?

I recently reread Heidi, and was shocked that I hadn't got eh religious message when I was younger.

Enid Blyton is v religious too.

Which won't stop me reading them all to the DDs, as they are all great stories. But my practice a little censorship from time to time, especially with Enid Blyton.

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:09

Sorry VQ Blush I was forced to read them too often to my nephew I hate them - there's no joy in reading them for me. It's just 'woah there's another clumsy moral lesson (like getting bricked up in a tunnel for not wanting to go out in the rain) WTF??? imagine the guy's sermons!!!!'

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 23:09

Yes, rest sophia
Tis a quiche commandment Crown

MissMummy1 · 25/07/2013 23:10

3rd wake up...

M has a whole bookcase full of books from my childhood already. My personal fav is the Roald Dahl treasury. I am scouring ebay for a decent first ed of Matilda to buy and treasure until she is old enough to appreciate it.

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2013 23:10

Narnia rocks.

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:11

Alice in Wonderland drugs and psychedelia over religion in this house Blush Wink Narnia is too jolly hockey sticks. OMG I'm a children's book stasi! Shock

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 23:13

I love them all, in their own ways.

Roald Dahl is fab but I love his adult books even more

Passmethecrisps · 25/07/2013 23:14

I have fond and slightly Blush memories of the opening credits of tales of the unexpected.

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 23:14

Just a shame about the weird relationship between Lewis Carroll and the original Alice. Always makes me feel a little uncomfortable. BUT they are fabulous stories.

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:16

Roald Dahl - good call MM I loved his take on the fairy tales. We performed one drunk at a Christmas party on my MSc course as a kind of pissed nativity / end of term play Grin

fruitpastilles · 25/07/2013 23:20

Narnia! Every time, I love the narnia collection, the lion the witch and the wardrobe was my favourite book as a child. I also loooove Enid Blyton, I have all of mine in the loft, they belonged to my mum and aunties and have gone to all of my cousins before me and as I was the youngest girl cousin I got to keep them for S, very excited to read them to her, especially the folk of the faraway tree. Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 25/07/2013 23:20

Every time I go home I bring back heaps of books, especially Enid Blyton ones. I was rereading one the other day that I had written (my name) age 7 in the front cover. I had crossed through every mention of gay and replaced it by happy, and crossed out all the 'you're only a girl' and similar sexist comments. I was a young PC feminist!

horseylady · 25/07/2013 23:26

Bloody teeth. Bloody reflux. I think he's just about gone off. I think. He's been hysterical for the last two hours. Dh went into the spare room and basically said co sleep but he's just gone off in the cot after calm time with me in bed.

mm at 21 I was with my now husband and we had a joint mortgage. I do not look back on myself and face palm. I do my 18 year old self though. I never blew my money though. Far too tight for that lol!!

YellowWellies · 25/07/2013 23:26

PR you remind me of Caitlin Moran! Smile She is an idol of mine whom I would love to get squiffy and chain smoke with.

I used to love the Brambley Hedge mice books for their amazing 'cut away' illustrations of tunnels, ballrooms, staircases, storerooms, houses etc in tree trunks and underground.

Nope he's asleep I'm away to my bed. Night lovelies!

horseylady · 25/07/2013 23:27

I love Enid blyton. I soooooo wanted to go to Malory towers!!!
