A Labrador that won't eat scraps donna? Are you sure he's not an imposter? Grin

Hope you feel better soon bplp

Howdy all. We're back in one piece. Hospital air con was amazing so S did eventually cool down, eat something and perk up a bit. But it was really scary - he was drowsy and lethargic and dull-eyed, far too hot and obviously not right. He was observed for a while longer, pee did eventually hit the cup (so all the careful willy dangling was not in vain!) and was clear and so we were sent home. Couple of test results due on a few days but he did really brighten up so they were happy to send us home. He seems fine now, like a different child really. A reminder of how fast they go downhill and back up again. Am so glad he is ok but not sure I will sleep tonight even if he does. Makes me realise how much I take our good health for granted.

Client emailed me to check all ok. Will have to allow bad ass image which I really don't have anyway to be tempered by the whole being a mum thing.

Thanks all for kind wishes - kyz, meals, chasing, eliza, pass, kirrin, BP, Jupiter, pidj, lily, fruit and VQ, and everyone else, it means loads.

Two good things about the visit to hospital (safe to say this as he is ok now I think). 1, DD, who is currently obsessed with doctors and hospitals, loved it. If I hadn't been so worried it would have been really amusing. The very kind paeds nurses let her 'help' them. She was in her element. When it was clear we'd be there for a while DH took DD home but she wasn't thrilled about leaving!

Also got S weighed - 9.5kg now. There was a lady there with a 15mo who was no taller than S, she was shocked he was 8.5mo. He's going to be tall I think.

Need to catch up properly but a definite yes to an Oct London meet / November birthday meet if we can make it work. The haggis and northern meet make me feel Envy

Sleepy dust to all.

Grin

Loved reading the thread this evening. Chasing Grin that is all. Fecking hilarious! I can picture it now!! My dog wouldn't have made it to the vets though! She's eaten bigger and horribler Grin. And shit it out the other end just fine Confused . Socks are a favourite here Grin.

Madame Fuck. Horrible moment. Give not one shit about crying. It's your baby! Hope all is well and he is back home asap.

Fatima I spent 1hr 45 on the journey home!! Should take 20 minutes, plus an extra maybe 20 for going to get DS1 from school. O coped admirably! Given he was pretty whingy/clingy earlier, he perked up after a sleep. I guess he just didn't get enough sleep this morning! M was fab, she didn't bother at his lump of a body periodically landing on her!

Haggis/Nun meet Looks fab! Love the pic! And loving that Izzy's J is snoozing in the middle. Little monkey!

I need another vent. DP had ONE job today. ONE FUCKING JOB.

Pick up the formula.

What didn't he do?

Yep. Pick up the shitting bastarding formula that is ONLY AVAILABLE ON FUCKING PRESCRIPTION.

This was discovered at 6pm. I sent him straight to the GP and started ringing chemists again to see if anywhere had it. Was going to be kind to DP and tell them we had knocked the last tub over or something Hmm. You know, so DP didn't look like a total shithead of a Dad for forgetting something so important again.

Luckily for DP (given there were no more bottles made up, and only enough powder for 7-8 oz bottle in the tub) when he got the prescription from the GP's, and went to the chemist there, they had some. First time ever. Usually they order it in, if we get the px in before lunch they get it in for 4.30pm. If later, it is the next day. He knew we needed it getting in early.

They actually said they didn't have it, but DP made them check 3 times. And they found some... Hmm

Am so annoyed. Both with DP, and the surgery for not allowing us to have a months worth of prescription to stop this keeping on happening.

The whole process is a PITA. Repeat px is done online, have to wait 48 hours before collecting the px, but if you request it on a tues or weds then it isn't ready til Friday (surgery closed weds afternoon) so then we don't get the formula til a Saturday.

The whole thing gives me a headache every sodding week.

Erm. Sorry about the rant!

TheDetective · 16/07/2013 21:30

Cross post Madame! Good news!

PetiteRaleuse · 16/07/2013 21:47

Thank god he is ok gazelle . Did they decide what it was? The heat?

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 16/07/2013 21:54

They think the temperature was a symptom of a viral infection, exacerbated by the heat. They have pretty much ruled out meningitis or urinary infection, but took swabs because they think most likely is some kind of ENT issue. I am under strict orders to bring him back if he worsens. I think they just have to be super careful with babies.

Elizadoesdolittle · 16/07/2013 21:54

Fucking areswipes. DId nice long post and lost it. Cheers mumsnet. Will try again....

madame That is great news. Reading about how excited your DD was at the hospital made me smile. It bought back memories from when I was in hosp with E. DD1 had a fab time visiting us. She gets dispointed now if I go to a hosp appt without her.

pass what thread is this ou speak of? I love threads about children books.

Oh and pp fab news about the weight. As the owner of a little one who hovered below the 0.4th centile for quite some time I can empathise.

It got me wondering (well been wondering for a while actually) what the other quichester babies are like size wise. I know it varys hugely and that we have some big uns amongst us and that it doesn't matter, all evens out eventually etc etc but I am curious as to where E sits size wise.

She is 8 months, is on 9th centile at 15lbs 2ozs and is in size 3-6 months.

She often gets mistaken for a 3 month old, but I guess at least she has a centile now and is moving in the right direction.

Kyzordz · 16/07/2013 21:59

Glad you're home now madame and glad s is ok, really scary stuff, what caused it do they know?

det tell him he is an arse! Glad you got some of the formula in the end though. Sounds like a right sodding ball ache! Can you not get a few tubs at once so it's not so urgent etc? Would be easier if you could!

Was trying to go to sleep but arguing with my idiot self in my idiot head about the fact I've only made 3 bottles for tomorrow. He will be ok though, he will. And I may just prepare everything so I can make a bottle if tea doesn't go well. Or I'll make one in the morning. Not sure what made ne decide to be brave and just make 3 up tbh . probably pouring away yet another full bottle is what did it!

Kyzordz · 16/07/2013 22:03

Cross posted madame sorry!

eliza eric is 36 weeks today (so 8 months?) And was between 91st and 98th centiles at 22lb 4 at 34 weeks. He was 2ft 7 last time I measured him (off the centiles for his age) and wears 12-18 months though some things are getting tight/short :/ but most fit nicely :)

Kyzordz · 16/07/2013 22:04

Ps I think your e is doing fantabbylussly eliza :)

itsnotyouitsMeals · 16/07/2013 22:04

Oh yes! And yay pp good growing boy.

eliza LO is around 99th centile so over 24lbs. Haven't weighed her for a while but she's in 12 to 18 month clothes and not yet 8 months. She was 10lbs 12 at birth though. I worry she's too big but she's demand fed ebf and blw'd so she's only eating what she wants. I know an 18 month old who weighs lots less than her so, as you say, it takes all sorts.

madame glad you are home.

det nearly Wednesday. Let rip!

TheDetective · 16/07/2013 22:10

I get 4 tubs (half size of regular tubs) of formula per prescription per week. I have had a massive argument with the GP's over this, and haven't yet whinged about it on here.

But basically, the Dietician told them we required 9 tubs a month in their letter to the GP. This was when he was 6 months, not weaning properly, and actually we were going through 4 a week!!! The Dietican said we only needed 9 tubs because he was taking 20-24oz a day. I explained about 16 zillion times that he varied massively on his intake!! He was taking 36oz some days, 17oz others. Not only that but we had to make up 8oz bottles for the correct dose of Gaviscon to be given. So 6 x 8oz bottles per day. Which is way more than what they then decided to try and give us.

I went crazy probably why I haven't mentioned it here! and threatened Blush I would take O to hospital, and sit there to ensure he was fed. Accused them of starving a baby and everything lalalala not my finest moment.

Anyway, the upshot is we can get the 4 tubs a week now. But they still won't give us a months worth ffs.

Luckily he now goes through less now as we are making 4 bottles a day, and sometimes he has a 5th. So I think we are going through them in 10 days now.

TheDetective · 16/07/2013 22:13

Eliza She is doing fab!

O was 19lb 11 last week, so 7.5 months.

He is on the 75th centile now, has steadily risen up them from the 2nd.

His length hasn't been done for a little while, but he was 75cm at 6 months.

He is in 6-9 month clothes. Will be in 9-12 soon. Although I can still get him in 3-6. 6-9 gives the most comfortable fit though.

Kyzordz · 16/07/2013 22:15

det I can see why you weren't happy with that, I would be constantly worrying about running out of milk, I get panicky if I've only got one sealed tub after the tub I'm on! Surely it would be easier for them to give a months worth?!!

Pikz · 16/07/2013 22:19

Madam huge huge cuddles. So glad to hear all is ok.

Wine To all tonight as it Tuesday

Very jealous of haggis and northern meet!

L is over 24lb and in 12-18 month clothes. He is a tall chappie but very strong. He is 7.5 months.

MissMummy1 · 16/07/2013 22:25

Lovely day today. Big hugs izzy - I forgot to give you a RL one. James will get there xoxox

Fecking hell madame how scary! Glad all seems to be okay now. Lots of hugs for you all, your DD sounds adorable BTW.

Remember when I was about 5/6 months pregnant I had a really shitty time with my landlord? We had a beautiful apartment but the owner was a proper nutjob - culminating in her being done for criminal damage and harassment when she took it upon herself to break our door down and change the locks? Well she has had the apartment repossessed and it is up for sale dirt cheap. If I didn't have M, I would really be considering putting an offer in. In two weeks it will be exactly a year since I left my life as a swishy penthouse dweller ha ha ha - amazing how much has changed in a year. Hmm

MissMummy1 · 16/07/2013 22:28

here

Elizadoesdolittle · 16/07/2013 22:31

Ah thanks kyz and detective. Blush

pass I found the thread you were reffering too. I am so bored of DD1's books I need to get some more so was reading the thread for inspiration. I look forward to having a good old cry and bedtime now!

I remember that mm. Karma eh?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 16/07/2013 22:44

mm thanks for the Internet hug. I would probably have cried had you given me a real one! I really enjoy meeting you guys, although i was so tired I swerved into next lane on way home! We ended up taking pram chassis back to pram centre pass, once it is as in my head u was pissed off and needed it done there and then! I've even snuck in a two hour nap, I completely crashed out! Bliss!

madame that must have been frightening. Hope you're both ok now.

det that's very annoying about the formula. The tubs are teeny aren't they! We don't use much so haven't had that problem... So far!

PetiteRaleuse · 16/07/2013 22:56

gazelle the slightest worry you go right back there and bugger the clients. Ooh, that came out wrong. Ykwim. Unfortunately the test for the M word is vile, but demandit if you have to

Ihave drowned my sorrows in Wine tonight. Should have a hungover sweary Wdenesday. I have a lot to swear about.

YellowWellies · 16/07/2013 23:02

Madame glad you're home safe and sound and with a new reputation of Mummy superhero / someone small's 'whole world' intact.

YellowWellies · 16/07/2013 23:12

Oh and Eliza Jonas was 16 lb 4 at 8.5 months - just over 9th centile and clearly channelling my MIL short and round Wink Grin He's wearing anything from 3-6 months (Next) to 6-9 months (Frugi, Boots). Kyz two foot seven - you're doing a great job!!! I think Jonas might be half that - he's 70cm.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 16/07/2013 23:22

I'm away to bed. DH doing til 1am so of I pit Mumsnet away I shall get a bit of sleep. Hopefully I won't be posting inane crap all night!

MsJupiterJones · 16/07/2013 23:34

Re. weepy books thread, I just bought the bloody Night You Were Born book. Sucker for punishment.
