Dd is only 13lb 14 at 16 weeks so not that big!

She sleeps in her pram during the day usually only for half hour cat naps although has had the odd 2 hour one in the past couple of weeks. Then in cot at night for around ten hours straight.

I am going for the cheapest folding high chair I can find as long as its green to match kitchen lol

catherine19 · 27/07/2013 08:27

I find when ds is fighting sleep the pram is handy an I can rocking him till he's asleep then leave him in there!
I'm trying to get us both into the habit of his napping I his cot though so I can use the monitor and be more free to do things but its a but hit and miss! He's asleep in his swing at the mo!

BonaDea · 28/07/2013 20:30

Trish - the ikea chair doesn't fold. The legs come off v easily but the actual chair part doesn't collapse or anything. I've got the ikea one and also found the inflatable insert useful as DS is already sitting in it at some meals although he's only 18 weeks and not ready for solids (obv)

Teapig · 29/07/2013 08:57

Thanks thursday, it's good to know I'm not alone. I hope things settle back into a routine for you quickly.

T went back to a 1am and a 4am wake up last night which feels much better.

birdbrain21 · 29/07/2013 21:46

Went out today just me a DH and left baby bird with my in-laws, it was really hard to go out and leave her but once we got into town we had a really good time. It was so good for us to focus on ourselves for a bit and when we got home I had so much more patience to settle her to bed tonight Smile.

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 29/07/2013 23:24

H used to only wake once a night now does twice. 4 months Saturday past, no idea why gone backwards. How is everyone else doing?

num3onway · 29/07/2013 23:29

Dd usually sleeps around 10 hours straight has done since about 12 wk but she is ff which might make a difference I think

KeepTheFaithBaby · 30/07/2013 06:08

Have it could be 4 month sleep regression?

bird we are looking to improve on settling Faithlet at night - currently she feeds to sleep and it can be late before she settles - so that we can leave her to go out for dinner. We're aiming for 16th August!

num3onway · 30/07/2013 06:52

I never realised how lucky I was!

Dd was asleep by 8 last night and woke at 6.30. Don't hate me!!!

My mission to today is to check out aldi, work out if its worth the inconvenience of not being delivered since I do not drive!

Hopefully the weather will be dry

Also need to clean my kitchen boo hoo

Are any babies sitting yet?

My older two sat alone about five months

Trishstar · 30/07/2013 07:42

Thanks bona x

Woo hoo for the cooler weather. DS slept from 7 to 6.45 (with dream feed at 10.00). He was getting closer to it before the heat wave but it then went right out of the window!!

To whoever asked: nope, DS nowhere near sitting up yet I don't think. He's quite happy in his bumbo but don't think he has the stability on his own. He's 19 weeks.

catherine19 · 30/07/2013 12:43

I can't believe how quickly the are growing! Ds sits with minimal support but sometimes I think it's cos he balances on his belly! Hv was talking about weaning yesterday! She obviously said t leave it till as close to 6 mth as pos but that he mite need it before cos of his size, I thought that was a myth!
Num I can recommend the aldi meat balls and apparently the nappies are really good but I've not tried them.
And yes I also say yay for the change in weather x

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 30/07/2013 17:43

Keep When does it go back to progress then? :o

Has everyone's LOs rolled over yet?

I have to watch H as she's always rolling over. I had to get a cover thing for her cot as she rolls over and lays herself sideways so her head is near the bars so was worried she'd smack her head.

I think she gets frustrated though as sometimes she can't roll all the way back, poor thing.

I am glad of the cooler weather but apparently next week it's going to get hot again. I think I may cry if it does, because poor H just really doesn't deal well with the heat. It makes her throw up a lot more, makes her a bit more irritable and she sweats a lot, so we have to have the fan on all day and night and either have her in a nappy or a vest all day/night.

KeepTheFaithBaby · 30/07/2013 19:15

Have I'm no expert at all! I found this which says it should be over within a few weeks!

Faithlet is currently on the floor trying to roll over now! She's done it a few times but still trying to master it.

I experienced a triple miracle tonight. I 1. Went for a run! 2. Came home to a sleeping baby (DH gave her a bottle and she dosed off) 3. It rained 5 minute after I got in! :)

Teapig · 30/07/2013 20:45

num I don't drive either so we get our shopping delivered but I do swing into Aldi whenever I'm passing and pick up their nappies, they're the best I've tried.

have, where do you get the cot cover thing? We have a bumper but it's very thin, the breathable kind, and I don't think it will give any protection. T is a roller too and I can see a bump on the head waiting to happen when she rolls close to the bars.

faith, we need to get our evenings back too, bed time is 7.30pm but she sometimes doesn't settle until 9.30-10pm unless asleep on me. I'm with you on settling sooner by 16th August, that's my birthday and I'm dreaming of a meal out that I eat with two hands without gobbling it up in 30 seconds. Good luck comrade Wink

KeepTheFaithBaby · 30/07/2013 22:20

Well....only started the No-cry solution approach tonight but I think it's going to work! It depends on the baby but our issue is feeding for hours in the evening and not settling in the cot. Tonight it was still late to settle but she went down sleepy on the third attempt and settled! It's a miracle! :)

Tea my birthday is 17th so dinner on the 16th is for us to celebrate just the two of us!

birdbrain21 · 31/07/2013 12:48

faith I also used to feed to sleep in the evening. Recently I started giving her bigger feeds during the day (either letting her stay on the breast for longer or expressing more) and now she settles better in the evening. Last night I fed her, she fell asleep and then woke up after 10 mins thinking it was time to play and didn't go to bed till we did. Hope she doesn't make a habit of it, I love her to bits but I do like having a bit of time in the evening...

birdbrain21 · 31/07/2013 12:53

haveigot baby bird hasn't really rolled over, she's tried a few times but got her arms stuck under her!She likes to swing her legs over but not actually roll over if you know what I mean.
When she's lying down and I pull her arms she sits up instead of just moving her head like when she was little. She thinks it's a really fun game and always give a big smile when I do it.
How cute is laughing btw every time I get her to laugh I just crack up it's so funny and cute!!!!!!

BonaDea · 31/07/2013 13:28

Bird - my DS is exactly the same. Rolls most of the way but gets one arm stuck under. Am sure it will just be a matter of time. Pulling on the arms to sit him up is met with much hilarity here too - I call them 'baby sit ups' and now as soon as I say that he starts smiling.

Laughs are priceless. DS sounds so goofy when he chuckles sometimes I could just weep with happiness!

In other news DS is teething and is quite grumpy as a result! It looks like his upper teeth are coming in first which is apparently not the usual order. Poor thing - have cal gel to the ready!

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 31/07/2013 18:14

Tea It's similar to yours, but it covers the whole of the inside of the cot, so imagine it will prevent her from smacking her head or at least I hope so. I got it from Amazon but am sure you can get it from other places too:

Baby Cot Bumper

bird and Bona H was like that just over a week ago so chances are they'll figure it out soon. She used to get really, really frustrated when her arm got on the way. She'd move her legs too, but not her head. She gets cross now though as can't always roll all the way back and it worries her. When she's lying down she keeps raising her head and shoulders a couple of inches for about 10 seconds then sighs and lets herself go back down again, it's so cute. She's 16 weeks though so she might just be going through a big growth stage :)

H is teething too and her teeth drive her nuts so it's a mix between bonjela and abensol or however you spell it. She chops on whatever she can get a hold of; teething ring, bottle, edge of a boy, boob anything bless her.

Her laughs are amazing too. I just melt when she laughs and she is a baby who does laugh a fair bit. She loves bouncy things and people shaking their heads back and forth :)

Teapig · 01/08/2013 21:55

Thanks for the cot bumper link num.

bona, teething is in full swing here too. Thea's upper teeth seem to be the first to be coming through.

Re teething, when do you give teething gel to help with the pain? I haven't given T any went as she seems ok chomping on things but she often rubs her ears like nobody's business which I think is a sign of teething discomfort.

On the sleep front today has been sooo much better. T has had about 4 hours sleep in day time naps and went down at 7.30pm without needing resettling Shock Unheard of in this house. I'm hoping that more day time sleep and an earlier bedtime make for a better night's sleep. Bet I've jinxed it now.

Hoping everyone gets some sleep in this crazy heat.

Teapig · 01/08/2013 21:57

Sorry wrong name check, the heat has addled my brain. Thanks for the link having.

BonaDea · 01/08/2013 22:16

Well, my lo actually has a tooth now! He's 19 weeks and weirdly has an upper tooth first. Three others are just below the gums. From what I have read this is definitely unusual but not unheard of in terms of how early they are, the fact there are four at once and also that they are top teeth!. No wonder my little smiler has turned into quite a sad little man the last few days.

You'll know when use he cal gel - when they are obviously in pain!

Jo1984uk · 02/08/2013 20:57

No sign of any teeth here yet, but I don't think it will be to much longer.. Sofia has been chomping down on anything that goes remotely near her mouth. She loves to bite on my fingers and her guns are feeling quite hard. Bought some nelsons teething gel but I havnt tried it yet.

The heat has also changed Sofia's feeding pattern in the night, she now wakes up for an extra feed at 3am then another at about 4.30/5 and again at 6. Now the weather is getting cooler she is still waking for the extra feed so I'm not sure if it's gona be a regular thing now!

She hasn't rolled yet, she has just started to do little side rolls though where she tips her body over to the side and goes back again.

I loved baby giggles, I can't help but laugh every time she does Smile

catherine19 · 04/08/2013 06:01

I've had teething gel on for ages! I use it when he is upset and rubbing his mouth seems to work. I've here'd the powders are good as well.
