Kelle - sorry to hear about your friends dad. She must be devasted. My dad died when I was 18, and you always dwell on the stages of your life that he is missing... And totally natural for you to miss him too - he sounds like a lovely man.

I bet DD was very excited to be staying at her grandparents! In my experience, the wee ones love grandparents sleepovers - but don't be surprised if she starts playing up when you arrive to pick her up, we always got a "he's been great till now" as he started bouncing of the walls!

AmberLav · 17/08/2013 03:01

Back to car seats - don't be in a rush to move them on, they will manage to fit in the seat for a lot longer than you may think, especially if you have to have front facing next due to your car size (I have a 3 ddor clio, so rear facing stage 1 wouldnt have fitted).

DS was 75-98% percentile, yet stayed in his first seat till 13 months.

catherine19 · 17/08/2013 10:32

What got me thinking bout car seats is that his feet nearly touch the back of the seat!
As for Xmas, I'm the biggest Xmas fan but am going a little minimalist this yr. still having lots of decs although slightly concerned about a prob crawling baby and a tree! My mam is buying ds nappies and we are just getting him a token pressies, I'm going to ask other relies for specific things. I see next yr as his real first Xmas.
I'm using pics of ds in an Xmas outfit as cards as well
Any got ideas of types of things we shud ask for?

AmberLav · 17/08/2013 20:33

The legs will curl up in the chair, so don't worry about just that!

Christmas - think about things you might need up to the 1st birthday. I asked for a leapfrog walker for DS, as he started using that at 9-10 months. The little trollrys are good too, maybe even a little wooden trike...

LoobyLou33 · 17/08/2013 22:48

kelle how was the sleepover? I know how ypou feel, I went to a hen do in march leaving ds with dh, at nearly 2 that was my first night away from him and I was glad to be back! When in labour I was in hospital 2 nights and he didn't even ask where I was! Sorry to hear about your friend, that's very sad.

faith how's the new routine? Enjoying your evenings? We couldn't believe it tonight: both kids fast asleep in bed by 730 pm, a first! Saying that dd just woke when dh came to bed (I went early to prepare for the night shift!) I wonder if she'd have stayed asleep if he hadn't disturbed her...treated it as a dream feed opportunity, not sure it'll make a difference but here's hoping! Last night she woke at 2 but has been going til 4/5 most nights.

AmberLav · 18/08/2013 01:29

Oh the joys, 2 year old DS has croup! So DH is on A duty, and I'm obviously looking after E! House is typical terrace, so the bedrooms are right next door (which is good and bad) so E is doing well to stay asleep as much as she can with seal pup next door (the cough of croup is like a bark sound)!

E can last till 3.30, and just do the one feed, but if she wakes after 1am, she generally needs feeding...

KeepTheFaithBaby · 18/08/2013 13:24

looby it's still a work in progress! She definitely settles faster with a bit of formula inside her so I've stopped expressing and we give her a bottle of formula now. The problem is she's a poor sleeper in the day so after a really rough day yesterday - I am all over the shop, I think it's down to the mirena coil so I'm going to ask to have it removed! - we have decided to really try to implement a proper routine. Got the book, working on her napping in her cot. She's quite resistant but after an hour of trying this morning she slept for an hour! DH is just trying to settle her for her next nap now. The real test will be me trying to do it alone tomorrow!

Amber that sounds tough! Hope he recovers quickly.

kelle how awful about your friend's dad :( It's clearly documented that doctors are rubbish at predicting how long people have got but its a shame that it happened while she's pregnant. I hope you can find ways to support her.

Gone quiet again

Anyone read about these wonder weeks? Dd is 19&6 and waking every night which she hasn't previously done, she's also fussing at some bottles. I am thinking this may be "wonder week 19"

Anyone else experience this?

KeepTheFaithBaby · 19/08/2013 13:39

Yes we're in a leap at the moment (she's 18 weeks). Naps in the day are very difficult!

Just been for coffee with my friend who is 36+5 and likely to be induced soon. Excited to have anothet little play mate for Faithlet!

catherine19 · 19/08/2013 15:21

This will make some of u laugh I read babies at 4mth sleep around 15hrs a day! No way in this house! Ds generally sleeps 8pm -5.30am (9hrs 30max) and will often only sleeps for 2 hrs in the day sometimes broken up in to 4 or more naps! We've had days with just minutes of naps in the day. I do find it funny sometimes when he is full of beans and I'm cream crackerd on days he hasn't slept!

KeepTheFaithBaby · 19/08/2013 19:33

catherine Faithlet does nearly that! Last night slept for 11 hours Shock and had about not enough maybe 2 1/2 in total today! Naps were better today but still not brilliant.

num3onway · 19/08/2013 19:35

I would say dd has 15 hours I think

Last 24 hours where roughly

8 pm - 4.30am (8 and a half)

5.30 - 7. 30 (2)

9.30 - 10.30 (1)

11.30 - 1.30 (2)

4 - 4.30 (half hour)

7 - 7.30 (half hour)

So 14 hours. She should be in bed for 9. Only lasts roughly two hours max awake

catherine19 · 19/08/2013 20:18

Jealous! But at least he sleeps at night so not complaining! He forces himself awake, the other eve was soo funny we were having a meal out with fam and he wud not let him self o to sleep while we were there anytime he started to nod he jerked himself awake to look at people with in 2 min of being in the car he was asleep must hav been awake for around 6hrs if nt more!

num3onway · 19/08/2013 20:27

Gosh 6 hours is long for such a little one!

I am hoping dd passes this wonder week thing soon and goes back to like 8-7 lol

catherine19 · 19/08/2013 20:44

He's too nosy for sleep!

KeepTheFaithBaby · 20/08/2013 08:30

Argh did I say Faithlet slept well? Cursed myself! DH accidentally put a day nappy on instead of a night nappy last night (they look quite similar). By 1.30am we had a leaked nappy and awake baby! Changed her, fed her in bed. Thought she was settled enough to go back into the cot at 4.30 but no, she woke demanding more food. Quiet day at home I think

birdbrain21 · 20/08/2013 09:24

ahh faith thats so annoying! I try to avoid telling freinds how long baby bird sleeps for in case that happens to me Wink

we wentout last night for a meal and ended up holding her on my lap all evening and eating one handed, think she's getting too old and interested in life to just sit quietly in the pram when we go out...

catherine19 · 20/08/2013 10:06

I plan sitting ds in a high chair nxt time we go out even though he's not eating, that way he can see us all and will hopefully stay settled. I miss when the pram wud instantly put him to sleep!

KeepTheFaithBaby · 20/08/2013 10:22

I tried Abigail in her high chair recliner booster seat yesterday/today and she seemed to like it! I had my breakfast at the table while she sat watching avidly. This is one that straps to a seat so I'd consider taking it next time we go out to dinner, actually we're off on holiday in a fortnight, think we'll take it with us!

num3onway · 20/08/2013 19:32

I have sat dd in her highchair which reclines a few times now while I've made dinner or done pots. She seems to like it

birdbrain21 · 21/08/2013 12:46

whenever baby bird sits with us at the table she watchs everyone eating as though she wants some, she's tried grabbing my fork/plate a few times! Starting to think about introducing food she's 18 weeks. Anyone else started weaning yet? (or thinking about it?)

catherine19 · 21/08/2013 13:49

I think we'll do it at 5mth, he pays attention to food, wolfs his milk and I think he'd take more (having 8oz 5ish times a day!) he's also not far off sitting. Starting on a little bit of baby rice etc see how it goes. I think I'm too controlling and worrying for baby led weening!

num3onway · 21/08/2013 14:50

Ill be starting in next week I think dd is 20 weeks ATM

num3onway · 21/08/2013 14:51

And I'll be doing a mix of purees and blw

KeepTheFaithBaby · 21/08/2013 14:54

I'm aiming to do blw at 6 months. She was such a tiny thing to start with (5lb 4oz) and seems happy enough BF with one bottle of formula top up in the evenings for now, I don't want to rush the introduction of food. Quite a few of the girls on FB have started weaning already.
