Including our friends from late May & early July!

Thought time for a postnatal thread.

So. I'm craving a nightly glass of wine already, week
5 of motherhood. Anyone else?!

Well bath fed and now more acrobatics in the Moses basket lets see how long this one lasts

arlandria666 · 30/07/2013 21:46

I probably broke a zillion copyright laws but it's worth it to know there is a light at the end of a tunnel :)

my 6 week check was like that steff pointless!!

learnermummy · 30/07/2013 22:04

The wonder weeks book is very good so far and quite cheap on kindle.

pinkbear82 · 31/07/2013 04:07

My 6 week check was the same, gp asked if I was ok....that was all. He did check bubs over at least and weighed her. They get a % for each red book page they fill in, so as long as they have enough info for that I don't think they worry too much. 2 days later the hv came and then said, oh if gp weighed I'll head off its all been done Confused

The gaviscon seems to be helping Violet, she had a much more settled day yesterday. Why the sachets can't be liquid ready made I don't understand - having to faff around with powder and make it up is quite annoying. If it wasn't making a difference I'm not sure the faffing would last long.

Landlords txt saying they want to pop round and meet new addition Hmm although house is fine I know I'll now spend the day doing housework to make sure they cant say any things not right. The landlady is very particular and never has anything out of place. Could do without it really but put them off last wk. grrr

AlohaMama · 31/07/2013 05:39

Fussy baby here too! She's absolutely fine, as long as I dont' want to put her down at all. As soon as I put her down, the crying starts. I feel like she's over-tired now as she's slept much less than usual, because I can't hold her the whole time with a toddler to look after. Other books e.g., Weissbluth, say the same thing- crying peaks at 6 weeks. Unfortunately they count that as 6 weeks after due date, and as Evie is 7 weeks but was 2 weeks early, that means still another week to go before things should improve. Which would be fine, if I didn't have a toddler to look after and moving country in 3 weeks. Oh happy days!

curlyclaz13 · 31/07/2013 08:35

I think I am going to try a dummy, overnight he makes such a racket when I put him down ! I will feed him and he seems to drop off but put him in the crib and he is wide awake (like one of those dolls but in reverse) and then lays there chuntering away to himself. I have been picking him back up and cuddling until he is in a deeper sleep but I have started falling asleep with him on me and it is too dangerous to let that keep happening.

MrsBri · 31/07/2013 09:19

We had a dummy briefly last night, curly. She did spit it out though quite quickly.

It's probably a good idea in that situation too. But Amy is noisy with or without a dummy!

And check your PMs too :-)

curiousgeorgie · 31/07/2013 09:20

Is there any way to make a baby like a dummy?!

SunnyL · 31/07/2013 09:22

So just woke up and was told by DH that he was assaulted at work last night which is why he was late home. Apparently some drunken witch tried to strangle him. As a policeman its supposedly par for the course. Makes my blood boil. I offered to go have a chat with her if she was still in the cells this morning. DH is shrugging it off. Id be furious if anyone assaulted me at work but he's just meant to take it.

Sorry off topic but it does wind me up far more since baby came along as you realise how often DH is in dodgy situations and how badly we need him fit and well.

arlandria666 · 31/07/2013 09:36

curious I used to put a bit of expressed milk on ds's to get him to keep it in. Have you tried different teats? Elliott won't take the flat ones he likes the tommie tippie that curve up. He still doesn't entertain it for long but will have it while we're shopping and it keeps him from screaming the place down happy Smile

curlyclaz13 · 31/07/2013 09:43

Sunny that's terrible, glad he is ok. I think becoming a mum makes you worry about everything more than before.

AlohaMama · 31/07/2013 09:53

curious I tried three types before finding the one she preferred - soothies. I tend to tap it to encourage her to suck and also if she's letting it fall out but not asleep sometimes if you pull it out a little she'll suck onto it again.

Cooler night here after a horrible muggy day, which means E is now swaddled so I'm hoping for a long sleep tonight.

Sorry to hear about your hubby sunny. You're right he shouldn't have to put up with that.

curlyclaz13 · 31/07/2013 14:01

we have a dummy ! he has it in now following a change and feed and was grizzly and appears to be drifting off although he is on me !

learnermummy · 31/07/2013 14:22

Still can't get Anna to take a dummy. So far have tried mam and tommee tippee. She's being very difficult today!

curlyclaz13 · 31/07/2013 14:26

These are Mam, he did spit it out a couple of times but popped it back in and he fell asleep. I have put him in the pram and he stirred so put dummy back in and off he went, he might have done anyway as he does normally sleep about now, tonight will be a better test.

Steffanoid · 31/07/2013 16:38

tapping the bottom of the dummy is amazing, it works on bottles too for babies who forget it's food time halfway through the feed

Steffanoid · 31/07/2013 16:39

also, took Ethan to be weighed at clinic, he's now 12lb 9oz at 6 weeks Smile

pinkapples · 31/07/2013 20:08

6 week check was ok baby doing really well gone from 7lb8oz born to 10lb3oz at 7 weeks Grin me on the other hand have to go hospital tomorrow to possibly be restitched Sad hey ho!

learnermummy · 31/07/2013 20:50

Oh no pinkapples did wonder as my stitches all healed ages ago. Hope they sort you out tomorrow.

pinkapples · 31/07/2013 21:31

Awww how long did yours take? Just so I know how long this set should take? I've got her christening in 2 weeks so don't want to be in pain for that

pinkbear82 · 31/07/2013 22:03

Pink my stitches were feeling much better after 7 days - still knew they were there after 2 weeks but only on certain movements. To be fair there are times I do things now and still get a twinge but apart from my midwife at 5 days no ones checked anything since.

Hope it's quick to resolve and you aren't in too much discomfort.

Been up since 3.45 this morning, got lots of house work done while DP and dd were asleep.

Did fall up the stairs at one point and now have a gold ball sized lump on my knee. Keeping an eye on it as its the knee I have pins in and slightly worried I may have dislodged something and due to lack of sensation after the operations I've had on may not feel the true pain Sad will see what the morning brings.

Sunny hope your DP is ok, and you're feeling a bit calmer now, but can totally understand your feelings!

pinkapples · 01/08/2013 03:45

Thanks x thing is I can't feel them at all most days the only reason I know something's wrong is be

pinkapples · 01/08/2013 03:47

Cause there seems to be an extra hole that there shouldn't be Confused nevermind will hopefully be sorted tomorrow Grin or today technically... This night feed business messes me all about

SunnyL · 01/08/2013 08:00

Oh Pink that sounds awful. I hope today goes well and that you end up with the normal number of holes! Shock

Little Miss decided last night she definately would not take a bottle from DH. This meant I did all the night feeds last night. Bit of a killer especially since I've been celebrating the fact that she's started having a proper bedtime by staying up late sewing. Knackered today!

massagegirl · 01/08/2013 08:11

So yesterday I got parking ticket £50, today is first round of jabs and tomorrow a funeral... So ready for this week to be over! Hope everyone doing well this sunny day, get the fans out ladies!
