I love that term, DontMind
Thanks for the chair info MrsBri.
I was shown the lying down position first and like it, but I'm scared of falling asleep.
The midwife visited us more often, I think partly because I'd had a c-section and she had to administer the injections, remove the stitches and check the wound, but also because our baby lost quite a bit of weight (she was a very big baby at birth!) and she wanted to check that she was gaining it back (and more) before she discharged us. It was a stressful time but the midwife was really supportive and made me promise I wouldn't get stressed over it. She said it was just because she was such a big baby.
MrsBri, you've had a big baby too so it will be harder work to get her to gain weight. I feel for you as I was in the same situation a few weeks back. With breastfeeding, it's hard to know how much they're taking in. My husband now gives baby one bottle a night (expressed if I've had time, or if not, formula), which gives me a break and we can also see how much she's having for one feed at least. Starting this was the turning point for us, and baby started to gain weight with just this one bottle (I breastfeed the rest of the time). As Sarah has found, she sticks at the bottle. You have to do whatever is best for you, I agree that happy mummy equals happy baby.
My baby is a snacker too. At the moment, in the day she usually feeds for 5-10 minutes at most. Later on in the day it's constant snacking and I don't get 10 minutes to myself between feeds (I wish she'd have one big feed then give me a half hour break!).
I haven't fed in public yet either (unless you count a special feeding room) and I'm worrying about it. I bought a cover but I feel self conscious wearing it. I'm tempted to take expressed milk in a bottle when we go out.
Steff, I've been told to use nothing on my c-section wound for 6 weeks (I was told this when they took the stitches out!), so no bubble baths. Though I've been adding a couple of drops of lavender oil (in milk) to my baths anyway.
I'm so sorry to hear about what happened pinkbear. Thank goodness she's alright.
My baby has been awake more and more irritable in this warm weather.
