I'm a bit worried about school sports day (with dd2&3 in tow) tomorrow.

emilyeggs · 14/07/2013 22:46

It's too hot! A fan sounds like a good idea. Any ideas on how to get lo do drink more water? My boy has a drop then realises its not milk and stops. He won't even take juice watered down. I'm worried as his nappy was hardly wet this morning. Sad

IsThatTrue · 14/07/2013 22:50

WL we have sports day tues too. DS is gunna boil.

Gotta go doctors tomo, DS has this weird rash, I asked the pharmacist who said it was fine and would go away but it's got worse and worse. My poor bumpy boy!

halestone · 14/07/2013 23:01

Emily we give H water out of whatever we're drinking it out of as she copies us exactly. I give her it mostly out of my sports bottle as i can see how much shes getting. Disclaimer i only found this out after she grabbed it from me whilst i was drinking from it ages ago. Until that point we'd been struggling to get her to drink any water or juice.

Isthat i hope DS's rash clears and the Dr gives you something useful for it.

Trying to catch up so apologies in advance if I miss anything/get things mixed up!

Willyou, Utopian and Beasty - hope you are all feeling better soon.

Hales - hope your mouth isn't too painful.

Seymore - fx mastitis clears soon. Sounds like you've had particularly bad luck with it.

Great news about DP returning to work Pidge.

WL - hope you had a nice break.

Isthat - sorry that your ex continues to be an arse. Hope sports day goes well.

We're fine over here. Had a slightly grumpy baby due to the heat, especially in the car, but otherwise he's still his usual giggly self. He's also started to make a noise that sounds very like "mum-ma" when he wants something. I know it's just babbling, but given that DS1 said daddy (and indeed the names of various extended family members) way before he said anything approaching mummy I've decided to claim it Grin.

utopian99 · 14/07/2013 23:22

Emily we give O water from sports bottle type water bottles as well as he istotally captivated by the crinkly noise they make when you squeeze them. He's also better at thesippy cup these days.

It is 28 in our room! Have bought a tower fan (they're selling them in Sainsburys for £25), best buy this month. That and the paddling pool O's great grandmother bought him have really been a godsend this weekend. In fact even with the cold it's been lovely; went for a picnic in the park today with dh and thenO feel asleep on him unprompted, after milk at his bedtime today.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/07/2013 23:26

Grin Ispy DS' cry sounds like mumma. Enough people have now commented on it that I may claim it! I thought it was just a hating the carseat phase J was going through, but maybe it's the heat here too. Not much I can do really. I only drive 1-2 a week as it is. Loving the pram walks in this weather apart from when they give me heatstroke.

WL I sat in a UV tent, under a parasol in a hat and factor 30! I think I was covered.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 06:30

Dd's sports day is Friday - they have pimms and cake!

Emily you could try a doidy cup.

Ds woke briefly just after 5:30 but settled after a quick pat and has just got up for the day now Smile

Dd's at nursery today and I'm going to my friends who has a giant paddling pool Grin

WLmum · 15/07/2013 06:50

Heat wave or not I have to do something - up every 2 hours at best (from her bedtime) and every hour at worst. I think night boobs will be off again, will offer water in a sippy.

pidj - meant to say great news on your DH!

Gave T jars and pouches while we were away and she seemed to like them much better than my food - wah!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 06:59

Ds's the same WL although he seemed to love MIL's potato salad yesterday!

FriendofDorothy · 15/07/2013 08:38

Wooohooooo The Little Mister went 9.5 hours between feeds last night! I feel almost human this morning.

We are also persevering with the sippy cup and he really seems to be getting it now. We need to push the fluids though as his nappy didn't seem quite as wet as normal this morning.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 09:25

Fod now ds generally sleeps through his nappy isn't that wet in the morning. It's probably because ds slept those nine hours Smile

FriendofDorothy · 15/07/2013 09:29

Ah ok. He usually has a really wet nappy in the morning so it is just a bit different to normal.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 09:36

I thought exactly the same with ds made me panic a little bit!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 10:02

Shit shit shit I forgot to renew my driving licence

IsThatTrue · 15/07/2013 11:51

DS has eczema (sp?) we have lotions and potions on repeat prescription. At least it's not an allergy like I thought it might be, I am the worlds most disorganised person and I'm not sure how is cope with food diaries etc. Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 13:33

Apparently oat baths are good for that IsThat

itsMYNutella · 15/07/2013 13:56

isthat DP and I both have dry skin problems (me eczema him just really really dry). It can be a lot of trial & error to find what keeps your skin happy but I use as little soap as possible on DS. We put a splash of oil & milk in his bath. He has had flare ups of very dry skin patches and I find the weleda baby products work really well (although not cheap).

WL T is still up fairly regularly in the night. I'm hoping this is just (another) phase.

spotty it isn't a problem renewing an out if date driving license. I've fine it before. I think it was about 8 months past the expiration date.

Having a very late lunch with DS. I have already changed two pooey nappies today and in the middle of a bit if apple I have just heard that his latest nappy needs changing. Hmm Where has he been keeping it??

His bottom two front teeth look like they are edging closer and closer. Hopefully he will soon pop out a couple of teeth & then cheer up a bit.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/07/2013 14:11

I'm having a MiL situation (full story over in AIBU), she rang DP in tears over the weekend as by not allowing her to be alone enough with DS I am preventing them from forming a bond Hmm Her solution to this was that she have a set day a week where she has him all day to pretend she's his fucking mummy I now have posters with disinterested MiLs telling me I'm too PFB and should be glad of the help/let her have him whenever she wants. I want to tell them all to fuck off!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/07/2013 14:16

Nutella I can't legally drive with it expired Confused apparently its ok as long as my doctor says so though Hmm

WillYou I will come on and fight your corner later Wink

itsMYNutella · 15/07/2013 15:23

Ah you have a point there spotty I didn't have a car when mine expired so it wasn't a major issue Grin

willyou I don't think you're BU at all. I started to reply to your thread but got a bit ranty about DP's parents. They have ring in tears in the past and claimed DS was cold. They also wanted a "schedule" for visits from when DS was about 5 weeks old!!

Barbeasty · 15/07/2013 16:31

WillYou bollocks she can't bond unless they're alone. She might feel inhibited with you there or something, but MIL has bonded well enough with A for him to be happy to be left with her, and until I went back to work the only time she had him alone was while I was in the loo!

Yes, MIL has both DC for whole, set days, but that's because she provides childcare while I work!

When I had DD she didn't have her for whole days until she was nearly 1 and I was going back to work.

If you can arrange a regular activity for yourself then you could set something up to your advantage, but to demand anything is mad.

I would reply in AIBU but I can't see any threads anywhere else on mn at the moment!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/07/2013 16:41

Ha I'm holding my own ladies. I think a few posters are projecting their upset about absent MiLs or nightmare DiLs onto me.

Nutella I'd have drawn up a childish timetable and put my own name on every square!

That's it Barbeasty if she wants to start taking tuesdays off like she's supposed to (she currently works 6-7days per week) she can save me the cost of a bloody childminder once I've gone back to work!

WLmum · 15/07/2013 18:23

Haha willyou!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/07/2013 18:34

I've got a good un over there now. She's said "I don't understand why the OP didn't ask her MiL to take the baby out in the pram months ago"! Erm because I didn't fucking want her to! Confused
