Fuck. I meant to say thanks Stunt. I'll not order one online, rather get it in a shop, so if there are any problems it will be easier to return!

We need one desperately!

BigPigLittlePig · 27/06/2013 09:10

OOOh det ouch!? Let us know how it goes sure you were going to anyway! Good work to dp though.

Not so good work for evils 'd'p though. Twat. Hope N is doing ok this morning.

Horsey I went with a CM as I thought it would be an easier environment for F to get used to - one main carer, quieter, can stick to her routine. As she gets older, I will put her perhaps 1 or 2 days a week in nursery for the social aspect of it.

Chasing Envy is all.

Another night on Fs bedroom floor. She woke at 1 because she'd rolled onto her back. Quickly settled. Woke at 2. That's when I went on the floor instead of in my lovely comfy bed. Settled just before 3. Woke at 4. Awake for 50 minutes, trying desperately to eat my nose/cheeks/hands/duvet. I offered her water - if she could speak she'd have told me to do one, I'm sure. She shouted in a highly pissed off manner before nodding off 10 minutes before I would have fed her...and woke at 7. So 9 hours between feeds Shock. Offered her a feed then, and she had a teeny tiny one, which goes to prove either a) she wasn't hungry in the night or b) she's saying a virtual "fuck you and your sleep training"

PetiteRaleuse · 27/06/2013 09:27

Sorry detective I misunderstood. Yes, it's cheaper than the uk, as the best are state run. The fee you pay is meanstested. We will pay, full time, about 400-450? a month per child, as we are over the meanstesting limit with our salaries. Some people, ie on minimum wage will pay a token 50? or so a month, and then there is any amount in between depending on salary.

A childminder costs 1200? a monh per child for cross border workers like me, and about half as much for people who work in France. Long and ridiculous reasoning which I cba to explain as it makes me so angry.

Nursery in Lux would be about ?1400 per child per month fulltime. It would be less for Lux residents as they would get some state assistance, meanstested like in France. The nurseries there arr also excellent, but private. DD1 went for 7 months after I sacked the CM, but just for 4 mornings a week including lunch. That was ?650 a month.

Childcare costs are also tax deductible. It's a good system.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/06/2013 09:29

Good luck with the fanjo jabs btw.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/06/2013 09:34

Thankful Thursday, yes?

Thankful for restoration of normal pay as opposed to maternity pay Grin

GTbaby · 27/06/2013 09:47

Full time nursery near my work is £1200 Shock plus food money. ShockShockShock

A friend paid £800 for twins 2 days a week. At a different nursery.

Kyzordz · 27/06/2013 10:01

Moooorning!

Going from where I left off last night...

evil I don't understand your dp when it comes to n :( you must find it so difficult and it's not fair on either of you

pass I had thought of toast and peanut butter too only I do not have any piriton in the house yet so should probably go for avocado. For lunch that is. Breakfast was oat and banana cereal and a bit of soreen. Now he's actually consuming toast etc i need to pay a bit more attention to the salt he has. Tea is pork, potatoes and vegetables. I will mush him a bowl and give chunks for finger foods, ill probably wear most of it but the thought is there!

detective wonder how dp will be today? If my dp was so nice I'd wonder wtf he'd done lol!

I like the sound of French nurseries personally :)

Oh stunt that sounds like a wank night

Woohoo yw a fab sleep!

Thankful Thursday, I'm thankful that e ate his breakfast without moaning about it this morning. I'm less thankful he woke at 5:30 for his dummy but it was for a minute or less and I suspect stupid dp woke him! He went back off till 7:20 anyway so not too bad

Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2013 10:01

Morning lad and lasses.

Do you think there will ever be a time when we don't talk about our nights first thing?

I am dead chuffed for you chasing. 2 good nights in a row.

det our cat likes to have a bit of nocturnal blethering where she runs up and down the hall between the two rooms yowling and yowling. As yet, she has not woken P. it can only be a matter of time. Glad your night worked out fine in the end.

There was chat at one of my groups last week about CM vs nursery. Weirdly the mums were all very anti-CM and all had horror stories. I had just signed up ours so I was genuinely there with tears in my eyes. The next week though my CMs best pal is there and it just made me feel so much better.

When P is over 2 I think she will go to nursery. We will wait and see though. DH and I are both in agreement that 4 is awfully young to be starting school so she might be at nursery another year. Who knows though?

At the end of the day we do what we hope is best for our babies and what works for our families.

Hmm. P is smiling and squealing at the crims on crime watch roadshow. Think she needs to hone her intuition. Maybe she has! Maybe they are wrongfully accused? Or maybe has an eye for a bad lad?

Anyway.

Crap weather here. No plans for today. All groups closed for summer. Meh.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/06/2013 10:12

DD1 will be starting school next year. She'll be 3 and a half. But it's fun until 6- they don't learn to read and write or do sums til they're 6, by which time they are very much ready for it so they learn quite quickly.

It'll be free though :)

MaMaPo · 27/06/2013 10:38

pass, I absolutely cannot imagine not obsessively monitoring/discussing sleep every day. Just to keep consistent, we had a bloody awful night with 4+ wakes an 3 feeds and a very unhappy baby today. With teething, is it usual for the guns to be sore? Whenever I've tried to put bonjela on her top 2 teeth which are getting lumper, she flinches and pulls away crying. Not so for the rest of her gums.

Supposed to be going out for cocktails with other mums tonight. Timing is impeccable - but 9.15pm last night C was inconsolable. Not sure I can go now.

kyz, hello again. Sounds like you are all over this weaning malarkey. I have given up a bit at the moment as she's so cranky but will start again.

Impressed by those of you navigating child care and going back to work. I have no idea what I'm doing. We're moving back to Australia in 3 months and its not possible to put yourself on waiting lists unless you're resident, so... No idea of costs, but I know there are ridiculous waiting lists.

Right - despite sleep deprivation am braving the big wide world today. Will equip self with coffee and pain au chocolat.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/06/2013 10:46

Agh. DD1 just took it upon herself to bring me her full potty. Full of weird poo and what seemed like several pints of piss, though I might be exaggerating slightly. Normally she does what she has to do then calls me so that we can dispose of it. Not this morning.

Of course she tripped while she was carrying it. All over my cleaned floors, toys spattered with shit and wee. And then she went and walked in it. Have got most of it up, but the pee has seeped under her toy chest and it is too awkward and heavy for me to lift with my back and ab issues. So I have to wait until this evening. And I am sat here looking at the sodding chest and shuddering.

I am thankful this Thursday that I don't have carpets.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 27/06/2013 11:24

Nursery / CM talk is interesting. DD and DS go to a nursery about a 5 min walk from work. DH's pub is also about 5 mins away. We looked at several nurseries and one CM when it was for DD to join one. The CM we saw really put me off. She told me in no uncertain terms not to send a 5 month old to nursery as I would be "institutionalising" her, and that I "must" use a CM, even if not her. I am sure she meant well, but I like structure, DD will be "institutionalised" when she goes to school eventually, and I favour the reliability of a nursery, and the proximity of our particular nursery to our work. Expensive though, I pay over £800 pcm for 2 kids to go 2 days per week. That includes food, but not nappies.

Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2013 11:24

DH is currently unscrewing the seats off our dining chairs so the covers can be washed because the cat did a massive sausage sick all over 1.

I read him your post PR and we both agreed that you win the 'disgusting start to the morning' award

Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2013 11:29

madam that would put me off massively as well. I don't want people espousing one way or the other when it comes to my child!

And as far as keeping p from school until 5 - who knows. She might be ready, she might not. She might be a royal pain in the arse at nursery and need the new challenge of school.

If I have learned nothing else by becoming a parent I have learned that what I think now might change in the next 5 minutes. Never mind the next 5 years

TheDetective · 27/06/2013 11:35

It's okay. Panic over. He failed at the first hurdle!

I wanted him to get O ready, sort his bag out, pack bottle, food etc and tidy the mess of the morning away. I was getting ready and we needed to be out the house at 11 for my appointment.

I came down at 10.55 to nothing done. Angry He had been on his computer.

So yesterday when it wasn't important he managed all that. Today when it is important - for me - he fails miserably.

Siiiiigh.

TheDetective · 27/06/2013 11:44

And now we are stuck in traffic. Perfect.

Should add he has to drive me as I might not be able to drive myself back without sitting on just one arsecheek.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/06/2013 11:47

Grin pass at sausage sick. So gross.

Reminds self, must clean cat sick stain from utility room wall from projectile earplug incident

GTbaby · 27/06/2013 12:17

Thanks For PR

And actually you deserve a bunch too Thanks

Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2013 12:51

Lying on the floor being clambered over by a growling P. I have spied more cat sick under the sofa.

Good luck with fanjo injection det. I hate being late - I am here feeling stressed for you.

My doc said he didn't fancy giving me a steroid injection between my boobs - I can't imagine how he would cope if I required one in my fanjo.

ChasingDaisy · 27/06/2013 13:04

FFS I have enquired after loads of properties today and they all say they won't accept housing benefit on any of their properties. God knows what I'm going to do.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/06/2013 13:07

Chasing is it worth asking whether they would consider you, if your dad were to act as a guarantor?

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 27/06/2013 13:08

Good luck with fanjo injection det

Yeah pass, it was the must aspect that I didnt like. I was already leaning towards a nursery, but that positively cemented the decision. And I couldnt agree more about changing your mind about stuff. DD was never going to have dummies, and how I judged those who just shoved a dummy in their child's gob. Ha. Ha. Ha.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/06/2013 13:12

Madam can I pick your brains? How much does it cost to get wills written? Roughly. For me and dh (possibly mirror wills if that reduces cost and I can bend him to my way of thinking)

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 27/06/2013 13:13

Chasing was going to say what BP said too, a guarantor could make a world of difference. Also, think about Gumtree, for private adverts, and be open with them and ask them to consider your circumstances. Can the old agents give you a reference about payment of rent on time etc? Can you find a nice new agent and explain the circumstances honestly, and ask them to ask their landlords to consider you notwithstanding their "no HB" stance? Perhaps indicate you intend to make it a longterm home (i.e. guaranteed rent for longer). You might need to ask a whole load of times, but someone may say yes. Also contact each agent in the area and ask them to send you a list of properties available where the landlord does accept tenants in receipt of HB, then you're looking at, and choosing from, properties where this won't be an issue.

ChasingDaisy · 27/06/2013 13:25

Yep, I've mentioned a guarantor but it is still a flat no.
