Top tip for traumatised mummies leaving their darlings at nursery / childminders... When DS1 was in nursery I would park outside the window for his room and take him in - cue hysterical crying, clinging to my leg, etc. I would prise him off my leg kiss him goodbye and walk out to the sound of heartrending sobs BUT when I got out to my car, i.e. ten seconds later, I could look in through the window to see him playing quite happily with the other kids.

It works doesn't it gazelle

Plan. Rolls off the tongue beautifully.

Like List. I get a little excited when I start a new list. Not as excited obviously as ticking things off it as they are done. Lovely lovely lists.

Pig the first time DD1 went to CM she cried quite a lot. The second time she cried when dropped off then stopped as soon as I left. That went on for quite a few sessions. After a week or so DH just handed her over and she didn't look back. If it is a good CM she will be happy to be handed over in the morning, but happy to be picked up in the evening.

I do remember how hard it was though. I cried the first day back at work every time I thought of DD1. Managed to just phone once though. The best thing to do is be busy during the session so you don't get time to dwell.

Hmm. Anyone remember just before the holidays DD1 had weird coloured diarrea? During the holidays it cleared up. But it is now starting again. I can't think of anything majorly different to her diet. She is drinking her usual milk, I guess she eats a bit more pasta here. But she also ate it in England. Not ill, no symptoms at all in fact. Just lots of weird poo.

They are questioning our child care costs. Again. Seems they wrote a letter but I have not seen it. It is meant to be random checks but they did this last year. I wish they would tell you in advance. I hate them. If I still lived in Preston I would be there now demanding to talk to someone. I have a number for my claims manager. No name just a number. I have been calling it all morning and it does not go through. I am beyond angry.

As my manager has still not got back to me I am technically meant to be back at work a week on Monday. I will be off sick. I cannot cope as it is without work in the picture.

Oh no VQ. That sucks.

Do we get a baby tooth brush as soon as 1st tooth appears... Twice a day? Someone bought we baby toothpaste. But need to get a toothbrush in prep for a tooth finally breaking through.

Speaking of teeth. My tooth ach is killer. Any ideas on local anaesthetics in pregnancy? Incase I need a filling? It's totally distracting. Couldn't sleep last night.

Omg. I just saw lo stick his tongue out. He has a tongue tie so its a first ! I wonder if its stretched?

ValiumQueen · 26/06/2013 13:13

Local is fine GT. They have to use a special kind of filling so would cost more. If NHS they need to get permission to spend. Not sure if that applies in a pain situation though.

PR different type of water causing DD's runny tum?

Took O for a trip down memory lane, walked round where I used to live and past my old school. Got us both registered at the library so O has his first library card Smile. he will love books damnit Also found out about rhyme time and story time at the library which we will start this week. O then had his lunch al fresco Smile

Yes we're reunited chasing! She got on ok. But only had half the length of nap, half the amount of milk....double the amount of grumping! She was sound asleep in the CMs arms when I got there, apparently following an epic meltdown toy wouldn't do what she demanded of it or something Thanks for all the reassurance Thanks

Anyhoo. She has just scoffed dinner plus some, and rolled from back to front! Twice! Late to the game, and probably the only times she'll ever do it but still, clever piglet!

Also love a plan here. And lists. And putting things on lists that I have already done, so I can cross them off Grin. I love holiday packing for this very reason. Everyone gets a list. List list list. Plan plan plan. Aaaaah.

Pennie enjoy your trip.
PR what is the master plan re: dd1 and sleep? And what's happening to the incontinent cat?
VQ good job it's sweary Wednesday eh? Cunts.

Detectives to do list:

Nap.
Do fuck all!

Seriously Grin.

It's my day off it seems! O did a 3 hour sleep this morning - so did I! Then DP got him up and took him off out. I don't expect to see them again til almost 5! Excellent!

If DP takes him out, I usually do stuff in the house. But not today, oh no! I am having a lazy ass day, and I do not give a shit!

Chasing I'm over the frickin' moon for you! I've been waiting for that day to come for you! Clever O! Keep it up! Do you think it is coincidence that it has finally happened not long after you moved out? I suspect the fact he is in a more chilled out environment has allowed him to relax :)

VQ TC's are cunts. The are part of the government. Who are cunts. Nuff said. Hope you are getting somewhere with them this morning. Are you taking parental leave or going off sick? Personally, I'd go for the latter - you are going through a VERY tough time. I could say more, but won't on a public forum. :) Look after number 1. No other fucker else does.

Wellie That is O's new trick today too! We piled cushions between the two sofas and the side table - to stop him getting to the wires. So he climbed up them, then sat back on his knees looking rather too pleased with himself for his efforts Hmm. He just pulled the pillows out. Raaaah!

I have a fireguard issue. The depth of every single fecking one I am looking at is 46cm. Our fireplace is 47.5cm in depth. Fucksaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!

PR I like lists too. And plans. I hope it goes according to, erm, plan!

GT Yes, think you start brushing straight away. I'm only getting it in once a day at the minute - it all feels a little pointless as he feeds to sleep near enough, so I'm doing it before bed, but then he has a feed. Hmm It hasn't been done in the mornings yet, as DP has been doing his morning routine while I've been doing the school run this week. And it takes DP a while to remember things...!!

O slept 9.20-6am last night. The reason for this? MIL! We went to the cinema last night, and I told MIL he wasn't due a sleep til bedtime (which we would be home for) when we dropped him off. She said he just fell asleep Hmm in his car seat at 6.45. Slept for an hour, woke up seconds before we got back for him. So as a result he was cranky the rest of the evening, then wouldn't go down til 9.20. And I proved a point to DP. The later O goes to bed, the earlier he gets up. DP did the 6am wake up - and he said, yep, you are right, as he just wouldn't go back to sleep. And had less than 9 hours, which isn't normal for him. I've noticed that - when he's gone to bed after 8.15, he's always up at 6. If he goes earlier - he goes til after 7.

Also found out that he didn't just 'fall asleep'. DS1 said she was rocking him in the car seat.

Siiiiiiiiiiiigh. This is why I don't like leaving him with other people. He might not have a set in stone routine, but one thing is definite - no sleeping after 5pm!!!

Thanks det, he seems to be coming out of his screamy/clingy phase at last and loves smiling at everyone so I think he will really enjoy the groups. Plus, I love libraries so win win. I knew he would get there with sleep in the end, I'm glad he has finally proved me right!

It will be funny awesome if she does BP Grin.

When I go back I'm still doing groups with O, til he doesn't want to any more. I can just drop in and out of them as I like - no need to go every week. I'll still go as long as he enjoys it! It's nice to spend one on one time with him. :)

I've just emailed my manager asking to not work more than 1 saturday out of 4. Let's see how well that goes down. Confused

One good thing to come from the CMs today - I said to her that dh has been put back on to shift work, and she won't charge a retaining fee or similar, if on some weeks we take her in a few hours later. Which will be a significant saving financially for us.

No change in water chasing they have both only had evian to drink, even in their bottles. Apart from the pop DD1 had during the holiday, but at that point she was fine.

Report
PetiteRaleuse · 26/06/2013 15:57

That sounds pretentious. Over here everyone uses bottled water for preparing baby bottles and there are only a few suitable brands, including evian, which is my favourite, and not as stupidly expensive over here as over there.
