Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good morning.

I was in the middle of a massive post last night when the power on my phone went. Doh!

I was talking to izzy

izzy call the paed ward or the main reception of the hospital and ask to leave a message for the consultant. I was a bit stuck with this as well as they disappear into the ether and seem uncontactable. I asked my GP what the protocol was (did I go straight to paed? Call paed after seeing GP?) and after laughing at me Hmm he said I could do what I liked. I had the right to make contact with the paed whenever I wanted but I would get an immediate response from GP. In this instance I would confirm med arrangements with paed.

Also with administering omeprazole, rather unhelpfully, I can be mixed with purées and given that way. I crack the pill and pop it in an egg cup. I put 10ml of water in the sook out whatever the dosage is after the pill is dissolved. You will always lose some of the granuals in that process. I give p hers in a small bottle mixed with a tiny amount of milk. I do this because she was getting really distressed with the syringe. It's not terribly scientific as quite a lot if the mess gets lost but it makes delivery easy and p gets enough.

Also, I think trying omeprazole before giving up BF is great advice. P's milk intake went up 50% within 48 hours of being on it. And this was a girl who we all thought was doing fine before. My doc seems to go by the 3mg per kg measurement.

Passmethecrisps · 03/07/2013 07:28

Hia! Missed you!

Oh and also izzy your comment in the middle of the night about this being a normal night - whenever P is unsettled DH and I repeat to each other "this is some people's normal" I think it helps to put perspective on the situation.

Thank you for the sympathy for my hand. It was ok - could have been much worse. I usually cover the handle with the oven glove.

BigPigLittlePig · 03/07/2013 08:16

Hia catbag - look forward to hearing your news

Thanks to most of the quiche for shit nights/arsebadgering intolerances/cunty allergies/etc

Up all night here as she literally could not breath. At 4.30 I woke dh (who was sleeping in dsds room) and he got up with her so I could get an hours sleep before her 5.30 feed. Today is going to be interesting a fucking disaster

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 08:28

J went to sleep not far past 12, woke screaming and coughing at 6, I sat in his room cuddling him whilst keeping him upright and he fell asleep. Back in cot within 15 mins. Still asleep. I am now worried. So glad I have a movement monitor.

My head hurts so bad as I got around 8 hours sleep in total. I am very pleased though.

Tax credits have still not paid us. Fuckers. The nursery said there are lots of parents in a similar situation.

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 08:29

Oh BP that is so not good :-( I do hope you have a gentle day and little F soon feels better. Colds are hideous in wee ones. Absolutely hideous.

PurplePidjin · 03/07/2013 08:33

Fucking every fucking two fucking hours Sad

Bryzoan · 03/07/2013 08:34

Oh bp that sounds awful. I take it you can't just call in and stay at home snuggling her today? She'll probably have a much better run at the cm when she is feeling better. Horrid for you both meanwhile.

Yay for some sleep vq - sorry for the headache and illness though.

Evilwater · 03/07/2013 08:42

Morning all,
catbag Welcome back, hope you enjoyed Cornwall.
big I can't believe you got a post pulled.
izzy huge hugs.

To everyone else huge hugs.
I'm off to weight N this morning, I know he's but on weight. So I'm not worried. I can't believe that in 3 months he will be a year old.

I went to the drs about my back and he gave me some exercises and cracked my back and I feel great.

Weaning is going slowly, he's manged half a slice of toast this morning! Grin

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 08:55

Evil, good your back feels a bit better now Smile

PP I remember how well R slept when he was wee. Could it be an intolerance or reflux affecting him now? Have you looked into this at all? May not be, but I have been wondering. And considering Izzys J had none of the classic obviously symptoms and has a particularly bed case, may e worth looking into?

Evilwater · 03/07/2013 08:57

Thanks vq I hope your better too, as well as your family. Hope you are getting along ok.

Evil

ChasingDaisy · 03/07/2013 09:03

pidj what VQ said. Prior to this past week I considered O to be a pretty poor sleeper, which I put down to him not eating enough during the day, rather than an intolerance etc. Now he is eating more, his sleep has improved. Your R sounds like a brilliant eater, so to me every 2 hours might indicate an issue of some sort. Obviously you know your baby best, I am only sharing my view for perspective Smile

PurplePidjin · 03/07/2013 09:03

VQ, the night before he did 5+2+2. A month ago he pulled 2 nights in a row of 8+ hours. He wakes, he shouts, he feeds, he sleeps. There are absolutely no symptoms at all, not even atypical ones, apart from hunger/thirst in the night. Last night just serves me right for going out shopping all day, he only fed at 10 and 3 (on top of solids) so today he's getting a boob shoved in every 2 hours!

I did get him a cool bath toy, cute shoes, baby legs and some new shoes for me though :o

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 09:09

PP makes sense Smile do tell us about the shoes!

PetiteRaleuse · 03/07/2013 09:38

LO has got my cold :(

Seemed. Fine this morning, woke up from her nap with her nose streaming. Hopefully it'll be just like mine and very manageable, though I do have a horrible cough today.

Fucking buggering colds can fuck off and die the twatty fuckers.

TheDetective · 03/07/2013 10:06

Gaaaaah for all the crappy fucking nights.

O went back after a feed after being up for an hour pretending he didn't want a feed. He fell asleep with the feed. So what that was about, I don't know Hmm.

He woke at 6.30, but must have gone back to sleep after a bit of protesting because the next thing I knew it was 7.30 and the alarm went off. O woke then of course! Made DP get up with him though and feed him, while I snoozed for another hour. :)

All in all I got 2 hours sleep before his first wake, and then 3 hours but not solidly due to above. I feel fine this morning. I didn't take nytol last night as he woke 3 times when I came to bed.

Just waiting for the morning nap signals here :)

Oven, fireguard and stair gates all arriving today! Yay!

Glad you got some sleep VQ. I love it when O does a nice long stretch in the hours that I actually am asleep Grin.

Hello cat! Grin

BP Strong, strong, strong coffee. Bacon butties, and lots of chocolate. And a very early night if F agrees!!. Don't envy you. :(

Izzy I have rung the main switchboard and asked for the secretary of the consultant before now. The secretary will take your question and relay it to either the consultant, or a registrar. I got O's Ranitidine dose sorted that way. :)

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 10:18

Fucksticks PR! I do hope it is mild.

Well, I was right to be concerned at my boy sleeping. At 6 his temp felt ok, indeed a bit cooler than usual. He woke at 9.30 with a fever. And blood in his poo. Not good. Off to dr.

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 10:41

Apparently blood in stool is not a worry in healthy babies, but he is not healthy. His weight gain suggests it is nothing serious, like CF, but I am still worried. He has finally taken the calpol and so far a small feed has stayed down.

Fucking cunting illness just sod off and leave me and my babies alone!

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2013 10:42

I am seeing the Dr at 11.45. The above is my thoughts.

YellowWellies · 03/07/2013 10:54

Oh crap VQ (sorry no pun intended) what colour blood - red, brown, black? It can be a sign of an intolerance as could his skin and wheezing but WTAF could he be reacting to in nutramigen? Otherwise hopefully something straightforward - maybe straining for a poo? Poor wee man. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for the docs and get him the treatment he needs. ((((doctor bullshit zapping hugs))))

Two loads of washing done, house tidied (ish), bins out, about to make a picnic then off to the beach! Put the bear down after night feed but couldn't get back to sleep grr. He slept til 8.40 - am such a muppet. I could have had 3 more hours!

Passmethecrisps · 03/07/2013 10:59

Oh fuck sake VQ. It is just never, ever ending. Docs soon. Good luck.

Interesting PP. I also wonder if it is simply hunger related with wee R. To coin a phrase I am not sure I understand, is he a bit reverse cycle-y? Hmm. Or is he too distracted to feed during the day?

What are baby legs?

Passmethecrisps · 03/07/2013 11:08

Breakfast. Can we talk about breakfast please?

Every morning goes a bit like this:

Ok P, let's have some brekkie!
Toast with peanut butter?
Cereal mixed with fruit purée?
Let's go!

Want some cereal? No?

Ok, definitely not. Let's just do toast.

Time passes

Oh look! You've eaten all your toast!
Oh. No you haven't. There are lots of pieces on the floor.
And on daddy's Birkenstocks. Again.

What do I feed her? Her next bottle is moving closer o the first one so she is obviously peckish but nothing at brekkie seems to end up in her tummy.

YellowWellies · 03/07/2013 11:41

Breakfast is a fight here if teething or he's too tired - he finished it yesterday after a nap. I moved his highchair into the garden whilst I hung out the washing - he always eats well outside. He's so busy being nosy I can shovel porridge in! Grin

TheDetective · 03/07/2013 11:43

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuming. Angry

WTF are my employers playing at?

I've just spend 40 minutes on the phone to the jobcentre. They sent me a letter 2 weeks back telling me I'm not entitled to statutory pay after 27th July, and have to make a claim through the JC. Reason being - because I've had a baby Hmm.

I've just had to answer all kinds of fucking personal questions to someone on the JC benefit line, including whether my children have different parents, my income, DP's income, I've had to tell them about my stay in hospital to have a baby, about the problem with my episiotomy. Etc etc.

Why? I get full occupational sick pay for 5 months FFS. JC are ringing me back in a minute. I am going to ring payroll after this and give them a piece of my mind.

Oh, and I have to go for medicals and all kinds and be assessed as to my fitness to work, go for a work based interview and all other stuff that people WHO DO NOT HAVE A JOB AND WHO DO NOT GET FULL PAY have to do.

Sorry. Ranting. There are worst things in life right? I just feel so fucking humiliated and angry.

TheDetective · 03/07/2013 11:59

And now they are trying to make me make a CSA claim for DS1?!

What the actual fuck?

Payroll are gonna get the sharp side of my tongue.

BigPigLittlePig · 03/07/2013 12:14

Haven't read since this morning so sorry.

CM called me at work as F hysterical. She has cancelled the contract. Am a cross between fucking LIVID and really upset. Went into HR at work and blubbed and couldn't get the words out, but am on parental leave for this week. Will be spending the afternoon phoning nurseries. I've lost faith in her rather, as she has come out with some phrases which have made me go Hmm. When I'm feeling up to it I shall share them for your opinions.

Fucking good job it's fucking cunting bollocking arse-weasling shitty Wednesday and Thursday and Friday too

Sad
