Well done stunt, celebratory Wine for finishing exams

chasing when we have been away (parents, inlaws, little hol) DS has been fine. Just did usual things for bedtime, dressed in usual bedtime bits. As long as you're there with him, am sure it will be fine.

PR enjoy all the food.

BP sounds like F is getting it, hope it stays like this for the big bad return to work!

Got 2 nights away this week. Was alwayts going to be away Thursday night for black tie work shindig. Now have to work in same city tomorrow, my best friend lives in that city, my mum is already down for babysitting duty, so made sense to stay over another night. First night away from DS. Mixed emotions.

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 14:41

Degree achievement unlocked Stunt Grin. Well fucking done!

Chasing having taken O to stay at my dads, he didn't have any problems settling - even in a strange moses basket. I actually hadn't even considered it Blush. But just to reassure you, he should be fine with the new surroundings. Especially with familiar toys, smells, and most of all mummy!

After my moan about O being up a gazillion times before we went to bed last night, I went up (DP had done the previous ones) to find a muslin cloth under his head, that was soaking wet. DP had clearly given it him to nuzzle up to at some point. But anyway, after removing it, he never woke again til 5. So clearly - that was the culprit. Do you ever think it is just easier to do things yourself?

Can't wait til DP goes back to work now. He's fucking me off being around all the time. Hmm He's really getting under my feet. Sorry, but I need some space sometimes!! Also, he is being an arse pretty much every day right now, like a PMT hormonal arse.

O's cold has not yet fucked off. So we are now in reflux hell. Just got him down for a nap, his first nap of the day wasn't that long - 90 minutes. He can do 2-3 hours unless you wake him. He hasn't been putdownable aaaaaall day, so might try passes trick of upping the meds. Although I really must get the calculation out as I think he is close to the top of the dosage.

I'm going to put a picture on FB later - of the space O managed to get himself squished in to. He really is a fucking wire magnet, and will get anywhere to get to them. Nutter. We need a fire surround now too, he won't leave the frigging thing alone. He's literally in to everything.

Any tips on cleaning faces - O is going mental at it. I've tried warm flannels, cold flannels, virtually dry flannels, different types of baby wipes, baby wipes rinsed out with cool water, warm water, muslins in cool and warm water too. He just goes ape shit like you are trying to kill him - seriously, he does that holdy breath thing, eyes wide open like he can't breath, kicks, grabs, throws himself away. You can't keep hold of him. Even 2 of us can't. He is the same when giving medicine too. Me and DP are at our wits end with him and how resistant he is to it all. So help! Please!

Bryzoan · 11/06/2013 14:47

Rock on stunt! Brilliant. I think this will be one of those times you look back on and wonder how the hell you did it. I feel compelled to have a glass of wine in your honour this evening.

Good luck with your night away madam - makes your stomach flip, doesn't it. Bet you have a bit of fun despite yourself though.

I am full of admiration for those of you managing to juggle work and kids already.

Today's news is g has reacted to egg - with a big blustery red patch round his chops. Seems ok otherwise, but now that is dairy, soya and egg. Time for me to get us a dietician appt me thinks.

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 14:47

PR Envy. That is all.

But could you fuck off quicker so the nice weather comes back please Grin.

Just kiddin'. Sort of Grin

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 15:25

No advice Detective but O sounds like a proper little character!

Thanks for all of the settling reassurance. I think I am projecting my own fears onto O as I get unsettled easily. I am a creature of habit. I am very worried about not having time and space to myself or any alone time with O.

Good news though, I found out that my friend from home only lives 3 mins from my dads house.

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 16:04

Quiet quiche today.

I have just emailed my new local council for housing advice. I seem to meet their criteria from looking online. Must keep busy.

fruitpastilles · 11/06/2013 16:10

Yay stunt I bet you're so relieved they are over now!
det no advice I'm afraid but didn't want to ignore..... S isn't too keen on having her face wiped either, doesn't help that she has really sensitive skin and is always left with a red face after I've wiped it, no matter what I've wiped it with.

chasing are you all set for tomorrow? What time is your dad coming for you? So glad your friend will be so close, that must be a big comfort for you.

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 16:13

Got a bit more packing to do fruit but my dad took a lot of stuff over today. Hoping for just two trips tomorrow. Leaving at 11.30, XP is planning to tell XMIL tonight so I imagine she will be coming over tomorrow morning to say goodbye to O.

Donnadoon · 11/06/2013 16:24

Stunt Flowers and Wine Well done you!

BigPigLittlePig · 11/06/2013 16:45

Chasing I'm sure your dad and his wife will understand you needing some time on your own with O. Plus there will be new baby groups for you to take O to, if you feel up to it. At least you won't have to have anything to do with the ridiculous in-laws anymore.

Well done stunt - bet you've breathed a sigh of relief now that's done.

Det no ideas either - F also hates having her face wiped. Luckily she lurves her ranitidine

Grouch-bag woke up from her nap screaming, and is now thoroughly unhappy with her lot. Poor baby Sad

Bryzoan · 11/06/2013 17:07

Det - how is he with having his face splashed? And having other parts of his body washed with a cloth? I would start at the feet / knees and make a song or game of it, and work your way up, over the back of his head (this is what our ot suggested for r as she isn't a fan either - and it has had some success with us. Peppa pig flannels have also worked for us - and games where we wash our faces too. Meds I would just squirt into the side of cheek then blow on the face - only about .5 ml at a time.

Great news that you should be Lucknow for housing help chasing, and that you will have a friend close by. The future is coming on. Just don't let mil or xp knock you off your stride tomorrow (or tonight) because you can bet mil will try too (and xp might yet too come to that). Sending you quiche strength and good thoughts. You and o are going to have an awesome new life together.

Bryzoan · 11/06/2013 17:09

Lucknow? Where did that come from. Should play wwf as this phone I'd great at making up words. I meant great that it looks possible.

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 17:17

He's fine with being splashed in the bath, and dunked in the pool. More than fine. So I don't get the big deal! He seemed to enjoy the warm flannel, well, no he did enjoy it - but then he got to knowing what I was doing. And hated it with passion. It's dinner time soon, so will try and make a game of it after - he's not daft unfuckingfortunately though so I am not raising my hopes much!!

Babies - odd creatures. Confused

I'm going to try a new trick with meds tonight, will let you know if it is a success!!

Pikz · 11/06/2013 17:31

Well done stunt Wine

Det singing gets the meds down here but takes two of us and I sing at the car wash when we do the flannel and play peek a boo. Yes crazy mummy

Chasing am rooting with my pompoms ! champagne tomorrow!

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 17:43

The first thing I will do when I leave tomorrow is let the quiche know Grin

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 18:00

Quick weaning question. I have finally found something that O will wolf down - natural yoghurt, either on its own or with fruit mushed into it. Is this a sufficient breakfast? Or should I be giving something else as well? At the moment, this is his main meal.

Kyzordz · 11/06/2013 18:07

Yay well done stunt

detective e hates it too but if I give him the warm wet flannel he puts it to his mouth and I use the corners to clean round his cheeks. He's not so bad this way

chasing im sure o will settle ok bless him hope the move goes well tomorrow, you are doung fab

hey pr :)

Really feeling crap about weaning again, he wouldn't even eat breakfast today so we have taken the rest of today off. Made sense rather than getting upset or frustrated over it

ChasingDaisy · 11/06/2013 18:14

My neighbour just popped round with a leaving gift for O - mango puree because she knows it is his favourite, socks. because every time the babies see each other little Z pulls O's socks off and bubbles because that was one of their favourite things to play with together. Plus a lovely card promising that they will come and visit. Im in bits now!

Lily311 · 11/06/2013 18:29

Oh, that's very thoughtful!!
O has half a weetabix with fruits for breakfast. Yoghurt is desert after lunch.

fruitpastilles · 11/06/2013 18:41

chasing that's so sweet, you will make more lovely friends like that when you move Smile

fruitpastilles · 11/06/2013 18:47

I've just changed my name on wwf to fruitpastilles. Hope it's worked?!

BigPigLittlePig · 11/06/2013 18:54

Kyz F is being generally crap at the moment with food. We can despair together! I think in Fs case it is tooth related - she has 2 of the buggers coming through together poor sausage.

Chasing that's so lovely of your neighbour. I will raise a toast of orange juice to you tomorrow when I get the nod!

StuntNun · 11/06/2013 19:53

Pikz not sure if anyone replied to you from this morning but my Lindam stair gates are pressure fitted, they have pads about 2.5cm in diameter that hold them in place against the wall.

Daisy you'll have to give us an update on the NCSS, does it really work. I thought it was good getting J into bed at 7, 6 seems impossible.
