Guys I am not glamorous at all!! How funny! But I do have lovely looking hair today! I am from Worcester worse! Keep wondering if I will be able to guess where you are. The wedding on Friday is in chipping norton, can't wait! Mini eig just downed a 4 ounce bottle pre bath with no complaints .... Progress! Just feeding her pre bed I hope. Had my first good day in ages even if there were still 5 poos! I have delayed 16 week jabs to be on the safe side til next week. It was the Rota virus in mini eig poo. Had she been born a few months later she would have got the vaccine they announced today.

Eigmum · 01/07/2013 19:19

Spoke too soon, snotty nose alert ... Bugger!

KFFOREVER · 01/07/2013 19:52

I def look like a mummy with red cheeks bags under the eyes and knotty hair. Too much sun yesterday. Speaking of hair anyones coming out? Mine is coming out in big clumps. So worried i will be bald soon. Sad

vj bottles are a faff when out n about. I take a small flask of hot water. Usually an hour before i prepare a bottle and let it cool naturally if im not near a cafe to cool it down. I used to get 3 5oz bottles out of the flask but now ds has upped his feeds i only get 2 bottles. For the third bottle i use a carton or i time my going out by feeding him before i step out the house. Yes its a lot of thinking and my changing bag is bursting out of its seams.

plonko · 01/07/2013 20:18

Kf you could take a bottle of cold boiled water along with the hot water in your flask. Or just cold sterile water and ask for hot in a cafe. Put half the amount of boiling water in, then the whole amount of formula, and top it up with the cold water. Then you don't have to cool it down.

worsestershiresauce · 01/07/2013 21:53

Ah I think you'll find you are glamorous Eig. SoYo and I have decided... so mob rule an' all Wink

SoYo your bootcamp sounds fab.... I want to go. I've tried persuading nice Mr Trainer man to run a pramercise class but apparently there aren't enough yummy mummies around to make it worth his while. I might put my mind to finding enough, as I could do with a project. I mean how hard can it be? Last time I looked this corner of the UK was officially classified as the vale of commuter zone nappies.

Poor little mini-Eig. Rota virus? That's just not fair Sad. I hope it clears up soon, and she's headed for an easy ride from now on. Enjoy the wedding Eig, and don't you let that cute baby of yours outshine the bride!

KF I wouldn't worry about your hair, it's just your body catching up and shedding the stuff it didn't shed on schedule during pregnancy. Not moulting myself, but then I never stopped. I kept waiting for the extra thick shiny hair thing to happen.... but nada. I did have nice skin though note the past tense

Wishing you all a long unbroken sleep tonight. Over and out.

vjhist85 · 01/07/2013 22:10

Wors there is a pramcercise group at dunorlan park. I looked into it but decided against it (because I'm totally terrified by the idea of finding a way of restraining my ridiculously humongous jugs) haven't yet worked out how close you are to Tw but thought I'd mention it! Seem to remember they do a free trial as well.

Thanks for all the ff advice. Mini-v is determined to make this difficult by throwing in just enough successful feeds to make me change my mind every day. Today, all feeds where she's only just woken up have been successful boob feeds. That means 4am, 8am, 5pm, and probably 10pm. Screamy screamy screaminess at 11, 2 and 7, however. This means that I spend every minute doubting myself. And I have the worst of all worlds, because every feed needs a 'just in case' bottle. So I am bfing, expressing, sterilising, formula making. Might as well have bloody triplets!!

I've been thinking about the formula thing, and talking to a microbiologist friend. Sterile liquid in sterile sealed unit. Yes, it'll go off eventually, but I think if I'm going out for a few hours I'll just take a bottle of formula and let it warm up naturally. (Or cool down slowly if its just been made) Neither my friend or I can see how this could be a problem.

Oh, and I read some interesting stuff about ebm recently, which basically said it has so much good bacteria that studies have shown it becoming MORE sterile as hours go by. They reckon it barely needs to be refrigerated and can be kept for ages before use.

pudtat · 01/07/2013 22:27

Thursday is now boot camp day and Friday is pramercise (run by one of the girls from my ante natal classes).

It looks like I've started a revolution! I can only apologise as the pain is already kicking in here!

After a bad night last night I was hoping for a good one tonight but the powers that be have conspired against me. Bedtime at 8.45, wakes at 10-11 & 1-goodness knows so far. I was already shattered starting it so not sure how I'll be by the end.

pudtat · 02/07/2013 07:51

Desperate attempt to grab final hour of kip here, wish me luck!

Eigmum · 02/07/2013 08:02

Well I am glad I enjoyed my 1 day of relative wellness yesterday. Mini eig woke up at 10 pm screaming with a blocked nose and was up every hour and only wanted to be carried around and snack feed. Knackered, who gets a cold in July? Mini eig has such great timing!

plonko · 02/07/2013 08:27

Oh dear Eig I think you're going to have to treat yourself to another crepe today. Totally neglected to notice the rotavirus diagnosis. How's she doing now?

StormyBrid · 02/07/2013 09:09

I think you may have discovered an unforeseen downside to birthday twins, Eig. Yours seems to be getting enough illnesses for both of ours.

Not a bad night here, though I was woken at half one by Number Eight's two year old mithering. Downside to open windows. And despite DD wanting to get up at half past five, I fed her and ignored the chuntering and she eventually went back down until quarter to nine.

I put socks on her for the first time this morning. Bets at least one of them will be gone by the time I finish this cig?

Eigmum · 02/07/2013 09:19

stormy it is amazing isn't it we roll from one illness to the next! So far this am she looks ok ( I look very slummy mummy!) with huge bags under my eyes. Doc called her the wellest sick baby he had seen last week . I was starting to get worried that all these health issues were the sign of an underlying immune issue but have been reassured they are the sign of having an older sibling in a London pre school! I just keep telling myself this too will pass .... Perhaps she is going to be very well once I return to work ( yeah right who am I kidding!)

StormyBrid · 02/07/2013 09:41

It could be worse. When my hippy friend's son was born, his sister had chicken pox, and yes, he caught it too, poor little mite.

I suppose this is another up side to the man getting the snip - at least we'll only have one child's snot to contend with. And other revolting liquids.

Socks are still on...

pudtat · 02/07/2013 09:49

The secret to socks staying on is sock ons...
bloody brilliant

OP posts:
Anypants · 02/07/2013 10:02

I have the sock-ons and they are marvellous. No point putting socks on without.
Sorry about the poorly sick babies - DD is prob going to get a cold again as I keep optimistically dressing her in summery outfits and then realise she's not that warm (after she's sneezed a few times).
Off out to pick up a paddling pool and swimming cossie today (for DD, obviously Smile ) in case they're right about the weekend being roasty toasty.

Eigmum · 02/07/2013 10:12

any we got a cool little pool with a roof from early learning, you can also fill with balls as well as water ... Looked like dd was finally sleeping but no such luck!

SoYo · 02/07/2013 11:47

Eig just remember that mini-Eig will be getting all these bugs now & building up great immunity & ours will be mega snotty in years to come!

Eigmum · 02/07/2013 12:10

Indeed! Lets hope the future is less snotty. Whoever suggested I go back for a crepe was right. Mini asleep in buggy and I have my big shades on in honour of worse!

pudtat · 02/07/2013 12:16

Ooh, enjoy Eig. You deserve it Grin.

Think I might be going to nursery open day on Sat... Not thinking of starting him til new year but I will be salary sacrificing for childcare vouchers and he needs to be registered somewhere for that. Feels horrid to have to think about it now but I want to make sure he's gong somewhere I am really happy with and not just somewhere with places at the last minute...

Dh and I are seriously trying to work out if he needs to go back to work though.

OP posts:
Eigmum · 02/07/2013 12:16

plonko it was your fab idea. All things seem better when out of the house and when little on asleep. Buggy easier as can prop her up a bit!

StormyBrid · 02/07/2013 13:18

We went out too but only managed a twenty minute buggy snooze. Think this one just doesn't want to miss anything.

Whoever it was wondering about DH not going back to work (yes, my memory sucks) - if you're not earning megabucks remember to check a benefit calculator and see what you're entitled to. Tax credits are awesome.

Postman excelled himself today - brought me a letter addressed to the old house. Didn't bring the man's birthday presents though. I shall be most annoyed at myself for not ordering them sooner if they don't turn up tomorrow. And Thursday looks set to be a messy one - Dad's opted for a late lunch then drinking until he falls over for his birthday. Expect a post from me complaining about hangovers from me far too early on Friday morning!

ecofreckle · 02/07/2013 16:21

hello all.

my phone died. or at least is critically ill. it has gone in a first aid box (Branson gimmick) back to virgin today. meanwhile I have DHs old phone which is smart but I am not really i'm too lazy to figure out how to work a new phone for the 5 days i'll be without mine so it is occasional forays into MN on the laptop for me :-(

glamourpuss eig sorry to hear you are afflicted by more germs in your household. By Christmas (when all the nasty bugs are everywhere) your LO will be strong as an ox immune wise.

pud, soyo and worse you have guilted me into taking action on the jelly. I have booked a PT session with a lady on Monday at 0800 crazy fool that I am so shall begin operation normal body again. Urgh. Just the thought of anything more strenuous than sleepless nights and pram pushing.

worse and stormy I have purchased a gummee glove and await it?s delivery with much excitement. Can?t take photos of LO these days as her face is obliterated by a fist. I guess soon they?ll be obliterated with a gummee glove.

Went to second gynae appointment yesterday following the third degree business. I had a list of deformities things to chat about. My appointment letter said I was due to see Miss Carter the consultant. So imagine my surprise when I was chaperoned into the room to be greeted by a 7 foot tall man. I lost my mojo. I let him peek and didn?t say any of the things I wanted to say. What a bloody wally I am. How silly. I wonder if the poor man sees mute woman after mute woman or whether I am unusual in my reticence to discuss all things female with a man. At the end of the day he knows his lady parts better than I do so I lost an opportunity really. I can imagine the slating I?d take if I posted this quandary in AIBU?..

If there?s anyone giving expressed breast milk (vj?) occasionally to their baby could you please tell me roughly how many oz they take at a feed please? The books say that a 3 month old takes 7oz milk but I wonder if that?s for formula fed babies and whether the comparison is straightforward. I am doing a dance display at the weekend and I need to ensure I leave enough milk; she polishes off 5oz swiflty so am wondering whether more is required (stupid TT bottles only take 5oz: did I buy stunted ones). Thank you for any insight you might have.

This morning we set up the cot in our room. DD has had her first nap in it and another is now taking place. Therefore I am off to check out nursery/childminding options (thank you pud for the reminder) and tax credits (ditto stormy).

Oh, and, not that this being last in my post means it is least significant, but the neighbour with the baby, she sadly died. Much sooner than anyone feared. She married her man the previous Wednesday in the village church where her baby had been christened too. Just vile. This news is a sombre leveller when ?problems? crop up here at home. I?ve just written to her DH and DD. The village has lost 2 of it?s most amazing women in such a small space of time. Very sad indeed.

OodPi · 02/07/2013 17:31

eco think I missed the story on your neighbour but it sounds very sad :(

vjhist85 · 02/07/2013 17:38

Eco- so very sad, and you're right about perspective.

Re: expressed amounts. I read somewhere (maybe kellymom) that bf babies don't increase volumes of milk much after about 4 weeks(I guess constituents change?) I think the approx figure given was 25oz per 24hr, so divide that by the amount of feeds per day and hey presto. When I've left dd for the day, I've left approx 5oz per expected feed, plus two extra smaller bottles just in case. She's always been brought back with at least one bottle left.

Bloody mam bottle leakage all over the kitchen. Talk about love hate relationship! The teats are awesome, the bottles less so!
