Night mama

Oh spotty is it going downhill already?

Well DS went down at 7.30, shouted at 8, so I turned the cooker off and went up to feed him and he was asleep when I got there so I left him. Then at 9 he shouted but I left him for a minute and he went back to sleep again :) he's currently snoring away next to me. God I love that little dude!

WLmum · 22/06/2013 22:12

Oh dear spotty
Having decided not to dream feed tonight T has just squeaked - am waiting to see if she self settles. Her timing would be right on!

WLmum · 22/06/2013 22:13

isthat and willyou loving the love !

WLmum · 22/06/2013 22:24

No more than a squeak!

Stacks · 22/06/2013 22:28

The app ate my post earlier :(

We had a good night last night, T slept 3 hours but I was awake as it was too early, 8-11! Then woke 2 hourly overnight, which felt really good after his recent 45-90m wake ups , even with the self settling between 2 hrly feeds.

So far tonight he went down at 7:40 and slept till 9:20. Been quite unsettled since, though still technically sleeping. He's such a light sleeper though, the tiniest sound or movement seems to wake him :(

FriendofDorothy · 22/06/2013 23:35

I am knackered. My mum
And I completed a 10.5 mile charity sunset walk tonight in 3 hours and 13 minutes. My things and hips ache!!!

The Little Mister didn't behave at all for The Mister and screamed for ages. Hasn't exactly eased my worries about going back to work next week!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 23/06/2013 00:20

Well done FoD!

I am drenched, been to the races and then watched rick astley, abc, Marc almond and Paul young in the pissing down rain. My feet may fall off!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 00:22

Well done FoD!

Well ds woke at 9:10 and was taking ages to settle (I obv didn't feed him) so in the end I just left him and he really cried for two minutes then went to sleep. He just woke at 12 (5 hours since last feed) and I think he's finally settled with constant bum patting so obv not hungry.... Now my question is will he eventually stop waking if he knows I'm not going to just feed him?! Feeding him is much quicker and warmer! I expect he will be hungry at next wake up...

IsThatTrue · 23/06/2013 02:08

1st wake up Shock since 7.30 so 6.5 hrs! Grin I think that's officially the longest he's ever slept!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 02:14

Ds has just woken up and so I'm feeding him. Not even tried to settle him as it's been over seven hours!

MaMaPo · 23/06/2013 04:56

Some good stretches here!

Little C decided her play session would start at midnight tonight. I fed her back to sleep but she woke again. Finally asleep at 2. So knackering. Just fed again, I hope she sleeps until 7 at least.

Nice work FoD!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 06:38

Well we have good news and bad news. Good news is that I only fed ds at 2 (not even sure he needed it tbh), bad news is that I was up at 9, 12 and 4:15 to settle him and it takes ages! He lies there with his eyes closed just moaning and fidgeting as I pat him bum. He might stop but starts again as soon as I stop Confused this takes about twenty minutes so I'm really tired.

Good news mamapo Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 08:36

Minor 30sec moan then STRAIGHT TO SLEEP at nap time!! Now I just need to sort night times. I think I'm going to pat him when he first wakes and, if he stops moaning I will know he isn't hungry, then leave him to moan for two minute intervals, then pat and repeat like I have at nap time. I see light at the end of this lonely damp smelly dark tunnel Grin

2blessed · 23/06/2013 08:52

sounds like a plan spotty*.

Good sleep mama Envy at your bedtime last night.

Ds slept 10.15 - 2 and 2.15 - 8.00. Currently playing in the front room with dss while I lurk on aibu catch up on rest.
Plan to go to church this morning and then go to greenwich and docklands international festival, apparently its going to be sunny today.

IsThatTrue · 23/06/2013 11:41

Well DS has been showing off his crawling to pil. Just had a feed and fallen asleep on me. Gives me a reason to be lazy and sit and rest, it doesn't happen very often.

Good for nap time spotty DS sled settled a few times yesterday evening. Fx we're turning a corner.

MaMaPo · 23/06/2013 12:51

I got very confused by everyone saying 'yay mama for such a good sleep' - when I wrote 'some good stretches here!' I meant by other people on the thread! My night was pretty average - an extra feed and lots of wakefulness. But that'll show me for being imprecise with how I write!

Still, my husband took C for an hour or so when she woke, then she (and therefore all 3 of us) had a 2 hour nap. Brilliant. So I ended up in bed for about 14 hours. If only I'd slept for all of them!

Off bike shopping today, and distracting my husband whose dad is in surgery in the next day or so...

WLmum · 23/06/2013 13:22

Sounds like a good plan spotty
Sorry to hear fil is not well mama fx for a full and speedy recovery. If you're bike shopping, for when C is older, we have a wee ride kangaroo seat that goes on the front of the bike. Loved it for the big 2, should be able to use it with T from about a year I think.
We had a good night - I skipped the dream feed (dtd for first time since T was born instead! We are def out if practice!) and she woke at 12ish so I fed her, then woke at 4 and went right back off with a quick pat til 6. In the words of spotty I see light at the end of the sleep deprivation tunnel. Sil is due her first in the next few days - she was complaining that she'd had a bad night - I resisted the urge to say just you wait and see!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 15:17

Quiet on here today....dp is working Sad

ISpyPlumPie · 23/06/2013 16:14

Well done FOD.

Hope everything goes well for your FIL Mama - will be thinking of you all.

Lovely news Pidge - we're still very much at the "aaaargh-gurggle" stage of communication!

Hope you had a good time at the races Willyou (even if it was a bit soggy). I'm tempted to get tickets for when Madness are there next month, but tbh after N's antics last night I'm not sure if I'll realistically be able to go. The longest stretch he did in his cot was 15 mins, and this went on for several hours before I eventually caved in and co-slept again. Although I can leave him with someone else in the day, it seems that in the evening he just wants to be next to me. He will sometimes feed, but I don't think it's really about that as often he'll maybe have one or two token sucks before falling asleep again! It's definitely getting worse and DH mentioned CC for the first time last night. It's so difficult because he's otherwise such a contented little man, and I keep thinking it's just a phase and will pass, but it's becoming a heck of a long phase......

WLmum · 23/06/2013 16:36

It's a tough call isn't ispy! I kept putting it off thinking it was just a phase but got to the stage where enough was enough! Feels mean though doesn't it when they just want to snuggle up with you but if it causing serious sleep deprivation for you...

Dd1 is at a rainbows fun day so we shipped dd2 off to dms for a couple of hours so we can put up the family feet prints we did after T was born. It's only taken us 4 months! Hopefully they're going to look fab - I'll fb a pic.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 17:18

Ds just ate a bowl of hm risotto hardly puréed Smile not that it's particularly lumpy anyway!

I always like to think everything's just a phase but I think as they get older things are more likely to stick...

PurplePidjin · 23/06/2013 17:22

Dp competed in a 5 mile race this morning - 52 minutes, very very proud - then my in laws showed up for a visit... luckily R is over stimulated so is asleep on me in the nursery while they run amok play downstairs

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2013 17:26

Wow that's an excellent achievement after everything he's been through pidj Smile

IsThatTrue · 23/06/2013 18:03

Well done to dp pidj he's done amazingly. Just forms out bil has had a stroke, he seems to be recovering well though, but such a worry for everyone involved.

Big kids dinnered and ready for bed, watching a DVD cinema style in dd's room, then straight to bed. Ds2 is feeding and in trying desperatly not to let him fall asleep. Pizzas very nearly made for dinner (just got to grate and add cheese). And homework all finished. I feel productive today :)

ISpyPlumPie · 23/06/2013 18:30

Nice one Mr Pidge!

Wishing your BIL a speedy recover Isthat.

It is really hard WL. Thing is, it wasn't so bad when we had a decent stretch at the beginning of the night as I at least felt like I had an evening and a bit of time to myself. Although the fact I ended up co-sleeping more often than not wasn't ideal, I felt ok with things overall. Now it just seems to be getting tougher, and I'm also conscious of things becoming more ingrained as he's getting older as Spotty says. I definitely think we let DS1 get into some bad habits sleep-wise (and tbh that's still not fully resolved). I think I'll see what tonight brings, then make a decision.
