ispy I'm sending dd2 to mil for a couple of hours tom so I can get a few bits done while T naps. I'm trying to get dd1&2 to tidy up a bit more - they are good as long as I'm absolutely on it with detailed instructions - it's almost as exhausting as doing it myself! The hope of course is that in time they will learn to do it without so much supervision.

We've just had a plumber out for a noisy radiator - he's 95./. Sure we've got a leak in the mains supply - at best that means digging up our drive, at worst taking up our new kitchen floor - conversion building works and new flooring completed 3 weeks before tabs was born. DH is looking rather pale! Fuckity fuck.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2013 20:37

Oh no WL Sad you won't have to pay if it's mains will you? Sounds very stressful...

Ds was put down awake tonight and he cried Sad I kept going to settle him and he eventually went to sleep after fifteen minutes. I think he probably hates me now

WLmum · 20/06/2013 20:56

spotty he won't hate you I promise. Well done for keeping at it. Fx it's the first step to self settling and a good nights sleep.

Yep, we'll have to pay - water company swizz, if the leak is on your property you pay. DH has spoken to the leak detection man recommended by the plumber - £375+vat minimum charge! This better be covered by our insurance. Will call them first thing tom.

halestone · 20/06/2013 21:05

Glad you had a nice holiday Nutella. I havn't really sleep trained yet so no tips i'm afraid.

WL oh no hope its not a leak.

Stacks if your leaving DP with T make sure you definitely go out as i find if i want half an hour to myself DP always finds an excuse to bring H to meHmm.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2013 21:06

Oh goodness that's awful fx for you. I hope so, I did it for all three naps today and he cried each time but slept well. I will do it for a week and if there's no improvement leave it for a bit.

The HV thinks I should up the weaning too. I think I'm being lazy as bf is easier Grin

halestone · 20/06/2013 21:06

Spotty DS won't hate you it'll have upset you more than him.

WL oh no. Hope its covered by your insurance

IsThatTrue · 20/06/2013 21:28

Oh WL I hope it's not too bad!

spotty what does DS have atm? My hv was Hmm at me because I said if he was awake at mealtimes I put food in front of him and he might eat some.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2013 21:35

He has 1tbsp of porridge with milk and half a fruit pot (only way he will eat it!) for breakfast then half a pouch and yoghurt at dinner time. Tonight I gave him a while pouch though and he ate that followed by a yoghurt still so he obviously wants it... She said I should try offering snacks too with water as she would be expecting 5/6 feeds a day at this age not then 10 he's having! I just need to get organised!

WLmum · 20/06/2013 21:41

I just finished a glass of wine that was probably the most I have drunk in 15 months! Maybe I should give the dream feed a miss?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2013 21:51

No do it WL it might help her sleep Wink

IsThatTrue · 20/06/2013 22:03

WL alcohol doesn't pool in the breastmilk so your breast milk will likely only be around 0.1#% alcohol so shouldn't be a problem.

spotty that's more than DS eats. He hates being spoon fed (although is getting better) so usually I can get 2 ice cubes of apple mush with some yoghurt or porridge for breakfast, lunch is normally toast (of which he swallows very little) and dinner normally steamed veg, some potatoes/pasta/noodles, I can usually spoon in some parsnip mush while he's feeding himself.

WLmum · 20/06/2013 22:38

Thanks isthat

DH has just been out to the street to turn the main supply off (nice plumber lent us a key thing) to at least stop the leak overnight. Plumber is actually an old school pal - haven't told DH but we actually rather fancier each other at school! Was v weird when he did the plumbing for our building work and I was massively pg. shit fuck we are only just making ends meet with mat pay and last night I dared to say to DH things would be a little (but not much) easier once I'm back at work. Shit fuck.

MaMaPo · 21/06/2013 03:57

WL, I'm sorry for your crappy news. I hope insurance can help.

I was absolutely preparing myself for a less successful night than last night's almost-sleeping-through, but I still find myself pretty disappointed! Come on baby C, I know you can do it!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 21/06/2013 05:36

Oh WL sorry you've had bad news, maybe it will be covered by your insurance. Fx.

HHuge amount of sleep yesterday afternoon - 3.25 hours- translated to crappy nights sleep. The 4/5/6 month sleep regression must end some time right?

IsThatTrue · 21/06/2013 06:26

willyou DS seems to be coming out the end and he's 28 weeks tomo.

Had a good night, 1 wake up when we came to bed and the next was 6 am! :)

SpottyTeacakes · 21/06/2013 06:38

WL hopefully it won't be as bad as it seems try not to worry until you know what you're dealing with.

Well I think we had a good night considering ds slept for four hours yesterday....dre feed at 10 (small feed as he was pretty asleep) he woke at 1:15 but I managed to settle him (I didn't think I would be able to!) then he woke at 3:30 and I didn't even try and settle him because I was a bit engorged and didn't want another blocked duct then he woke me blowing raspberries at 6:15 Grin happy playing with his toys even though I haven't fed him yet

Barbeasty · 21/06/2013 07:36

WL could it have been caused by the work you had done, and could you claim off their insurance? My parents always used the builders who burnt the roof off, because at least they knew they were well insured! If not, yours should cover it.

Half an hour lie in sleep wise today, because I've got the day off, and lovely to be sitting here still in my pyjamas when normally I'd have been at work for half an hour.

I got the new job. They seemed positive offering it to me, but I have that nagging doubt that they were told to,rather than genuinely thinking I was the best candidate. I'll ask for proper feedback next week.

At least I'll have some work to do at last. It's been a long time. I haven't been busy at work since a month before I went on maternity with DD, and she turns 3 next week. And I've got a nice break off work until Wednesday.

Let's hope my positive mood lasts the day!

itsMYNutella · 21/06/2013 08:12

Good morning, WL thanks for the advice, I will read through it later and hopefully form a plan with DP. Sorry to hear about your water problems, that is really pants! Fingers crossed you can figure out another route to paying for the repairs.

Our night wasn't actually too bad. I decided that if I want him to change his behaviour I probably need to change mine first (the old, if you do what you've always done... Adage) so when he first woke at 23:30 ish I sat on the end of the bed and fed him - he had a really good feedShock then he woke again at 3:50 and I did the same, again, good feed.
He woke at 6 and was awake after his (slightly smaller) feed and wouldn't settle. I was so tired (DP had also been having a good irritating snore) I took DS to bed with me and eventually I think we squeezed in another hours sleep.

Another odd thing - even though DS fed loads his night nappy was less wet, anyone else in cloth notice a change in wee behaviour or is it more likely a one off?

PurplePidjin · 21/06/2013 09:56

Congratulations Barbeasty! Don't doubt yourself!

Nutella, dp does the first change of the morning - he gets to sleep all night in return for getting up with R anytime after 6 to give him breakfast and let me have a couple of hours peaceful sleep he then brings me coffee and porridge in bed but apparently they're getting smelly. I've changed to a 60* + prewash + extra rinse for the nappies going on from tonight, but it's most likely teething as he also had a small patch of nappy rash. First day nappy usually doesn't last as long as later ones though - 2 hours in a bamboo boosted easy fit where i normally get up to 4

SpottyTeacakes · 21/06/2013 10:32

Congratulations Barbeasty!

Nutella that sounds like a good night to me, 6am is usual get up time for everyone in this house!

Need new tyres for the car....boring!

SpottyTeacakes · 21/06/2013 10:49

God I might have to go back to my old job..... I can't turn away £800 a month can I? It's only two days a week it would just be selfish. I hate it so much though Sad

FriendofDorothy · 21/06/2013 10:54

It's my last day of maternity leave Hmm

Barbeasty · 21/06/2013 10:59

Spotty would it help to see it as temporary, looking.hard for something else? It's soul destroying being stuck in a job you don't like, even for 2 days a week.

I think I need to check on A in a minute. He's been asleep in his cot for just over an hour now. I wanted to be home from the supermarket by now! Ah well. Might have to be creative for lunch before we go instead.

Having nice cuddles with DD instead, but have discovered that there is a limit to how much Peppa Pig you.can enjoy. Between Nick Junior, Nick Junior 2 and Nick Junior +1 it's been on constantly since 5.30am.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/06/2013 11:08

That's what dp said Barbeasty. Plus he said if I'm still hating it I can just quit....

I think I can find some pasta and a tin of tuna for lunch plus some cheese. We are off out this afternoon to a farm for a charity even (£4 for a cup of tea Shock)

SpottyTeacakes · 21/06/2013 11:14

Oh FoD rubbish Sad at least you can pop home at lunch? What are you going to do re breastfeeding?

Is it possible to not pump on the two days I'm at work and still bf the other days? There would be nowhere to pump at work... Unless I go and sit in a store cupboard Hmm then I could put it in the fridge we share with the builders next door Grin
