Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Good luck apple!

Hope you're alright tugs x

I'm ready for this heat to do one now!

Lora1982 · 21/07/2013 00:20

:( pascha I don't envy tooth screaming. Hope he's asleep by now.

Drove to my friends in birmingham for their annual bbq he slept all the way performed like a gooden napped through the chaos of 50 people then conked for the night at half 8 I'll see you all at 4 when he wakes up :(

Ona bad note I got back to dog wee in my kitchen and a cat poo on the landing. Piss off karma.

Lora1982 · 21/07/2013 00:22

And im shocked the dosing didnt do the trick pascha! Have you tried the driving round last resort trick?

happyhow · 21/07/2013 03:10

The sleeping through was a one off. The last two nights he's been a little shit. Currently, I've had 1hrs sleep and been up for 3 now and we're supposedly entertaining hubby's family this afternoon - that will be interesting.... I'm done with this waking in the night crap. He needs to sort himself out.

4.55am is a good time to start your day, right?? WRONG!!!

Got to bed at 11pm, DS1 was up at 2.30am, then DP stumbled in at 3.15am (didn't sleep in between this as was pissed off that DP still wasn't home after "just going for a quick pint")
then DP wanted to tell me how much he loves me until 4am, which is lovely but shut the fuck up and go to sleep
Then DD up at 4.55am

So I've been up with DS1, annoyingly drunk DP and now DD - just wondering when I get a break??

BuntyCollocks · 21/07/2013 14:14

I think we're all reaching the end of our tethers.

It's been a lot cooler today and yesterday. Cameron slept well last night - went to bed at 6 (!), up at 9 for a feed, and then 2:30. A couple of wakenings between 6 and 9 that she got rocked/patted back to sleep for, and she was rocked at 4:30 by DH BUT (and this is significant) she had a couple of squawks through the night and self settled!

She's also just waking up from a lovely long nap. I hope this is the start of better sleep. And I know the above sounds shit, but it is better than it has been!

glorious · 21/07/2013 14:15

Well done tugs, hope the GP is helpful.

Poor you and Dan pascha .

Grr to not sleeping, I have lost patience a bit too. I think we disturb each other so I might try her in the room next door when she's 6 months (10 days! ).

Pascha · 21/07/2013 14:51

Ooh Angry on your behalf Lolli! I would have dug DH out of bed by 8am latest if he pulled that on me.

Thanks everyone for sympathies. Dan actually stayed asleep til 11pm last night, knocked out on the nurofen I guess, then he fed and fell asleep again til 5am which is ok. He's all smiles and sunny so far today. We shall see what late afternoon brings otherwise I can see me taking up Lora's suggestion of driving around, just without the baby Wink.

Fingers crossed for Cameron to improve her sleep, Bunty. For all of us. I am dangerously unhinged after (and during) a poor night.

DH has done his duty on friday and got the doc to refer him for the chop, so now we wait for a date. He's not thrilled, but agrees its definitely the best option for contraception. The coil is fine for me as it goes but we want a totally final solution now.

Right-ho! Off to scrub up the Babyjogger City Select and take some pictures. its going on eBay in the next few days. Got to pay for the new pushchair somehow Grin

Meringue33 · 21/07/2013 17:44

Checking in

Hope you are all well and surviving the sleep dep

We've had a great weekend away so wish it was a whole week

Have discovered how to get LO to sleep it involves going to a completely new place and wearing him out by taking him to festivals and other new things all day plus pubs and restaurants til ten at night :O

Someone actually came up and asked "Isn't that baby in a routine yet?" :)

happyhow · 21/07/2013 21:07

Not sure if he's teething or not but he's been given teething granules and nurofen. I need a better sleep than last night.

Meringue33 · 21/07/2013 21:45

This one is teething like a lunatic. He'd chew his own hand off given half the chance.

AppleCrumples · 21/07/2013 21:45

Oh no :( boo to all the bad sleepers. Hope tonight is better.

We have another tooth almost through Shock at this rate Ivy will have a full set of teeth by xmas!

pascha i keep trying to get dp 'done' he is worried about pain Hmm. as if all 4 dcs just arrived without pain or effort. Not to mention need for IV fluids with hg

meringue everyone is a bloody critic aren't they!

lolli that would p me off royally!

BuntyCollocks · 21/07/2013 23:02

I think a 6;30 bedtime might be our answer. She was he most settled she's been in months. Slept until 10, really wasn't wanting to be awake and would have probably settled with dummy, but took opportunity to feed her.

Hope all the other shitty sleepers have better nights, and that teething babies feel better. Still no teeth - DS had 2 at this point!

Lora1982 · 22/07/2013 08:24

I think the answer is to go out too, it's like he daren't misbave in public

Pascha · 22/07/2013 08:52

Waiting in this morning for the man to come and nuke a wasp nest in the garden. DS1 got stung on his foot last night about 12 times when he fell on the base of a bush where the nest is. We didn't know it was there.

Its very hot already here, and sticky. Dan fell asleep in the jumperoo so I've put him up in his cot, hopefully he will sleep for a while as his night was quite disturbed really - 3 wakings and tossing about from 5ish.

Bunty Daniel had 2 nights of 5.30pm bedtimes a few days ago when the teething was really bad, it was definitely worth it as he was much more settled in his cot than screaming loudly downstairs trying to stay awake.

He's better now the tooth is through.

AppleCrumples · 22/07/2013 10:19

Total parenting fail here! Have just allowed ds1 to buya puzzle in charity shop (1000 pieces should keep us all quiet) didn't really look at pictire til we got home...its a comedy picture of an 'adult nature' Blush Why didn't i look?!

pascha poor ds1

Right we're off to local library (via charity shop for more appropriate puzzle)

BuntyCollocks · 22/07/2013 10:22

pascha poor ds1 and poor dan! Glad dan is better, and hope ds1 is feeling better, too

glorious · 22/07/2013 13:55

Awh poor DS1 pascha

apples that's hilarious! Grin

newbie6 · 22/07/2013 17:33

Apples, I know it's wrong but this made me laugh....at least it will take ages to complete!

glorious · 22/07/2013 19:53

Yes, maybe by the time it's done he'll be old enough to look at it Wink

AppleCrumples · 22/07/2013 20:03

Its not quite that bad is a cartoon picture of loads of men drinking lookee fairly innocent til i looked closer and realised there would be a piece with a willy on it...could just imagine the hilarity! Hmm And what if one of their friends is over.. Blush

It is at the back of a cupboard now dp has the giggles as he found the piece with the boobies and in another charity shop ds1 found junior cluedo which has been fun

Glad to amuse you though!! Grin

octanegirl · 22/07/2013 20:11

Weaning. Is. Shit.
Mess, Crying baby. More mess. Finger food ends up on floor. Spoon fed food is spat out. And to think I was looking forward to this! It's been a week. When will he start to actually SWALLOW and not CRY?

Pascha · 22/07/2013 20:35

Oh Octane I've been there! DS1 took until 9 months to get eating. He was exactly like that to start with, refused the spoon completely and had no coordination with finger food at all. It gets better, one day it just clicks and then there's no stopping them.

Meanwhile, stop worrying about anything actually going down. Stop spooning and just give him stuff to play with. A couple of pieces of food on the tray, no more. If all he does is mush it round the tray or smear it in his hair thats fine. Put it down at the beginning of your meal, take whats left away at the end, let him just watch you eat and practice picking food up and forget about anything else.

Lots of Wine for you.
