Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

:)

If it helps I have sat and watched him sleep for half an hour and observed that when he couldn't breathe well in one position he'd squirm around until his mouth and nose had a clear gap. That made me feel a lot better.

We have had far fewer transfer fails since he started sleeping this way. He still usually falls asleep on one of us but when put down flips over onto side or front and settles himself.

Angielka · 15/07/2013 22:46

Another front sleeper here. I also totally freaked out to begin with, but she sleeps so much better like that and I've done the same as meringue and watched her to make sure she can move into a comfy position and clear her airways. They are big strong babies now, not helpless newborns, but I agree - it's a bit of a worry. You can buy things, like bumpers, that keep them in one position, but I think that at some point they will find their favourite sleeping position and stick to it. I love sleeping on my front but haven't done it for months bloody pregnant belly and leaky boobs

Lora1982 · 15/07/2013 23:53

I took the plunge and ive put him in his own room. Dont need a monitor though this house is tiny.

On a completely different note I HAVE to tell someone before I explode. Im in the garden n my dp is asleep w the bedroom window open I just text 'your farts are waking the neighbours' except I sent it to my mum :-D she misread farts for texts and said mine are waking my dad.

I think I'll do the watch him sleep thing when he starts rolling that sounds like it would calm my nerves.

Meringue33 · 16/07/2013 05:03

Love it Lora :)

glorious · 16/07/2013 07:23

octane I'm really sorry about your sister Sad .

bunny that sounds really scary you poor things.

pascha I remember now, you were very intrepid going away with the two of them at that stage.

bugs good luck with the diy!

My baby is broken. Up for 3.5 hours straight in the night and then attempted to start the day before 6. Off to buy a fan as I think it's the heat - the one cool day we had in France she slept fine.

Pascha · 16/07/2013 07:36

Very loud awakening at 5.42 this morning by ds1 crashing into the bedroom. I think he heard dh leaving for work Hmm. At least I got left tea and toast anyway. Ds1 has watched 3 Postman Pats while I dozed in bed - thank goodness for YouTube!

On the front sleeping thing, after saying yesterday that Daniel prefers sleeping on his back I found him on his tummy in the cot with both legs out through the bars in the corner! Little bugger. He was happily asleep though.

I might follow Lora's lead and move him to his own room this week. Just need to muster up the enthusiasm to get up to feed in the night if he asks. He only does about half the time now though.

Pascha · 16/07/2013 07:42

Sad Glorious what a crap night for you.

Intrepid? Sure, 5* accommodation with hot tub is scary Wink

Lora1982 · 16/07/2013 10:50

Dexter only woke the once but not for food he never does now, more of a 'oi u gits what am I doing in here and wheres my dummy?' The dazed asleep trot to go sort him was ok I fell straight back sleep. I was just concerned about having to go all the way to his room but apparently it didnt affect me.

He's also started to get snotty and impatient I put my finger on a straw to give him a taste of tea and he whinged because I was too slow getting the next bit for him obviously loves his tea, just like his mum! he needs to learn how to make it... whats the morally correct age to send him to make my tea?

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2013 11:42

Terrible night with bubs. Stirring and grizzling every half hour or so!

I gave him a fair amount of water in the event before bed, too.

I hate this heat. There, I said it.

AppleCrumples · 16/07/2013 12:51

lora am curently trying to train my 7 and 9 yo to make me tea :) i know they can as they can do themselves toast, sandwiches and chopped fruit.

Ivy is just as impatient and gets wriggly when things she wants take too long to get to her mouth.

Shes in the middle of a mega nap whilst we wait for our fence to be rebuilt so we can go out. Getting a bit bored now!

Also hating this heat :(

Pascha · 16/07/2013 17:08

Mum bought us lunch in Pizza Hut earlier so Dan worked his way through various bits of the salad bar (well, gummed and thrown on the floor mostly Grin). Its been hazy but sticky hot here today, a bit warmer than the last couple of days.

Wuxi poor you, even worse being pregnant I should think.

Tea. Thats a good idea. Off to put the kettle on now.

lollipoppi · 16/07/2013 18:10

Mnnnn Pizza Hut! Yummy!
I'm starving now just realised that in the chaos of today I've only eaten 1 piece of toast Shock

DD is on the move! She gets up onto her hands and knees, then just looks at me as if to say what the fuck do I do now Smile

I'm off to meet my best friends new baby tonight, her 3rd boy ..... Named sawyer

glorious · 16/07/2013 19:13

Thanks for the sympathy pascha . We've joined the rest of SE London/Kent today and bought a fan from John Lewis Bluewater (there was a polite scrum!). It was more your journey I thought was brave Smile

Poor you wu, in early pregnancy when you're knackered too Sad

happyhow · 16/07/2013 20:44

I'm visiting my mum for a few days and forgot my phone charger. Currently sitting in the car outside her house like a complete tube so that I can charge it up!!

Have had a fun day showing off B to her friends but he's been refusing to nap properly yet again. He has discovered his feet though - they're his new fav toy! He's rolling onto his side too now. I'm amazed at how much he's come on in the last 7-10 days! now if he'd just learn to sleep for longer at night...-

Not too hot with us at the mo so getting a little respite...

DP away with work and LO has only just gone down Hmm

Lora1982 · 16/07/2013 22:51

Ooh I kind of like the name sawyer.

Happy ive noticed a lot more activity these past few days too. Loads of side rolls I think a full roll is on the cards. And when I get tired of waiting and pull his arm straight so he can roll he pushes up on his knees too thank god it looks like he wont be a bum shuffler

Nearly shit a brick when dp asked his mum if she wanted to look after dexter while we went shop (shes unsteady on her feet after a stroke, calmed down a bit when he took him off her and carried him inside to sofa safety!

newbie6 · 16/07/2013 22:55

Hi all,

Quick question on weaning.....are you all feeding purée stuff or do you give cut up stuff? My LO is 6 mths, he can't sit up himself yet so trying to go off a book that says to give him purée stuff. He seems to be fine on it, takes breakfast and lunch, probably about 8 to 12 teaspoons each time? Can't get him to take from a baby beaker yet as he just waves it about or drops it!

X

Lostbobbles · 16/07/2013 23:06

Hello all

Had busy weekend/week full of up's and downs (close friend's father died, so had to go to the temple today)

DD1 had a blast camping, DH verdict, life is better with running water and the lav close by!

We are going away on Sat so trying to get organised but so far I'm just faffing and have achieved nothing on the packing front but I have made a list so all is not lost....

Lora lol on the text chuckling again as writing this

Octane,so sorry about your sis, I have had two m/c and its such a horrible experience.

Pascha - how's the pram?

Re sleeping on front DD1 slept on front from about 8 weeks as only way she would sleep unless upright due to reflux and DD2 has been sleeping on front since she has been able to roll.

Lolli, we are also up on all fours doing the same thing. I'm actually hoping she doesn't work out the actual crawling for a while, she is bad enough with her commando shunting for getting all over the place.

Right off to bed, swimming and play date tomorrow... Fun fun fun! Confused

Lostbobbles · 16/07/2013 23:12

Just turned monitor on and she is face down on her knees sparko. Never fails to amaze me the positions they sleep in.

BuntyCollocks · 17/07/2013 08:46

Hello all!

My baby is definitely broken, or spoiled - she is only sleeping well in our bed. Hmm

Moving the cot back into our room tonight in case it's as simple as her being her mother's daughter - I love a freezing room and a cozy duvet, whereas her room is 25 degrees ATM and doesn't cool down/catch a breeze despite her window being constantly open

birdies we've tried fans before, but I find all they do is move hot air about :(

octane sorry for your sister :(

newbie we are doing baby led weaning, although some of the messier stuff I will feed to her when she lets me she also won't use a supply cup, but is a rock star with a doidy or normal kids cup that I hold.

Pascha · 17/07/2013 08:52

Pram is lovely thank you. Haven't taken it out yet but DS1 is loving being pushed round the garden on the back.

Not on all fours yet, Dan is commando shuffling backwards everywhere. He is very jealous of everybody's food though. Wants it all. He had weetabix, yoghurt and mango this morning for breakfast and was demanding some of DS1s peanut butter on toast (he didn't get it).

Newbie he can have finger food from 6 months if he can sit up supported. Try sitting him on your lap and letting him grab a piece of toast from your plate, or a well-cooked wedge of carrot (cooked to smushing between the fingers consistency). He probably won't get much in his mouth yet, its just playing. He can try any food that he can hold, basically.

CreepyCrawly · 17/07/2013 09:38

We've taken the plunge with BLW after a few days of puréed food. She had some toast for lunch yesterday, and has demolished a crumpet this morning. I think most of it was on her legs, but it's not as terrifying as I thought it was going to be.

Oh no bunty. Nancy's sleep isn't great in this heat either. Bloody hate summer!

Birdies · 17/07/2013 13:34

It's my birthday today! Having a lovely time already and lots of pressies!

wux I meant to say congrats but forgot, how exciting! I don't like the heat either but it's a bit cooler here today thankfully.

bunty maybe it's wonder week time? Been pretty exact for us. 42 days til our next one though, phew!

Anyone else's baby not sitting too well yet? She's very very wobbly still and looking round our baby group she seems to be the only one. pacha maybe I need those milestone links again!

X is also waking very very early every morning. I may post on the sleep forum see if anyone knows how to change that. And she's having a wakey time around 4am too - blowing raspberries for half an hour! I don't think it's the heat though.

Birdies · 17/07/2013 13:35

I mean, pascha

CreepyCrawly · 17/07/2013 13:44

Happy birthday birdies. Nancy isn't sitting unsupported either.
