Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Good luck glorious!

Congrats tugs!

Sympathy to all you fellow sleep deprived ladies... we had feeds at 7pm, 10pm, midnight, 3am, 4.30am and 6am. That's as many feeds overnight as during the day. 24 weeks tomorrow. When will this end?

DM says if I started feeding her food, she'd have something in her tummy once the breastmilk is digested and she'd sleep better. Anyone actually experienced this? I know they get the most calories from milk for the first year, but it's tempting...

Meringue33 · 04/07/2013 14:22

Angie he's been on solids a fortnight now and is really eating a lot... It hasn't made a blind bit of difference to his sleep!

Angielka · 04/07/2013 14:30

Noooo meringue not the right answer! Wink

Good luck for the christening! Molly got a bit overwhelmed by the attention at hers a couple of weeks ago, but the rest of us enjoyed it a lot Grin make the most of all the rellies willing to hold the baby and put your feet up!

CreepyCrawly · 04/07/2013 14:41

Good luck glorious!

Boo to all the sleepless nights :(

Great news on the scan tugs, and well done DD1 lost!

Love Sir Soddington & the Marquess of Whinge Grin

Went to rhyme time again today (by myself, so go me!) and was chatting to a couple with a little girl about 5 weeks younger than Nancy. When the dad asked how old she was, he looked surprised and asked if she'd had a low birth weight. I don't think she looks small at all Confused.

Busy weekend coming up here (for DH, not us). Me & Nancy are staying at my mums tomorrow night while DH transforms the living room. Cannot wait, it hasn't been decorated since goodness knows when! And new dishwasher coming tomorrow. I never thought these things would excite me at 22!

Fingers crossed for better nights tonight

Lora1982 · 04/07/2013 17:48

I think the foods helping me with daytimes I dont feel like hes constantly stuck on my boob. Not changed the sleep at night though apart from sleeping earlier and waking up once which he never used to do. See how he's earned the title of soddington Grin

Mums lending me her highchair so I can let him eat finger food or potatoes.

I was brimming with pride earlier because he sort of proved theres a brain in there with a person attached. Remember I blow raspberries at the end of row row your boat, well he starts doing the raspberries as soon as I start cos hes anticipating it not brimming w pride with the new hair pulling thats going on

happyhow · 04/07/2013 20:49

Well B screamed most of the morning and didn't really nap. Ended up taking him to drs as his behaviour was so out of character but dr couldn't put a finger on it so just have to keep an eye on him. He had some butternut squash and apple at half 4 though and then had a boob feed at 5. Have managed to get a little more in him just now after he moaned for 45 mins. Hoping he sleeps well tonight so that he can catch up. Also, going on hols tomo so don't really want to listen to him screaming all the way in the car...

Had his nursery open evening tonight too. Was good to see around again and hubby got to see it too.

Made a surprise rainbow bday cake for my sis today. Coloured the sponge different colours and did an m and m rainbow on the top with chocolate frosting. Haven't baked in SO long because of stupid broken oven and no time that I'm really excited about giving her it! She better like it! Grin

AppleCrumples · 04/07/2013 21:24

happy that sounds lovely (the cake, not the screaming baby. I already have one of those!)

lora thats so cute :) ivy is full of raspberrys at the mo she always chooses quiet moments to blow them tho!

Ivy seems to like the wind in her hair as she kept giggling and shouting everytime the wind blew at sports day earlier. Only seems happy like this facing out in my arms and spent the whole time trying to escape... Hmm

we do not refer to huge baby affectionately as fatso ever no no no Grin

Lora1982 · 04/07/2013 21:46

Wasnt impressed with the raspberries I received singing along to the radio in the car tough crowd

Pascha · 04/07/2013 22:09

Biggest giggles today came from being charged down the garden in Daddy's arms chasing his older brother. Laughing his head off (all three of them).

Just realised I am overrun by males. Even the cats are boys. Not fair - I'm completely outnumbered Grin

AppleCrumples · 04/07/2013 22:28

Hahaha pascha you are me 7 years ago... Wink Grin

Pascha · 04/07/2013 22:31

No More Children! No way. No how.

happyhow · 05/07/2013 03:54

FFS child!!! GO TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Tugstonia · 05/07/2013 04:33

Same here! Bloody sleep-averse child.

Pascha · 05/07/2013 07:21

All night long!

Let the record show that, at one day short of six months old, my son slept All Night Long (well, 10.30-6.30).

After the shenanigans of the night before I a bloody grateful.

Sorry you two for shit nights again though.

BuntyCollocks · 05/07/2013 07:53

Matchsticks, please. Fucking awful night. Making hd take her to dr as if I go they'll prob think I have munchausens. She has a slight temp and was up most if the night. Typing this one eyed ;/

mrsbugsywugsy · 05/07/2013 08:16

great news pascha

the improved naps yesterday made no difference except to make dd wake up for the day at 6am Hmm

glorious · 05/07/2013 08:32

Well done on rhyme time creepy , and what an odd thing to say Hmm

Sorry that so many of you are struggling with sleep. We still are too though I think it's very gradually improving, no doubt just in time to hit the next wonder week!

The interview went vaguely ok, not brilliantly but not badly enough to feel it was a waste of time. There are 8 jobs and they're interviewing 3 people at once (different interviewers) all day all week for three weeks. So I don't hold out much hope! By the time I hear I'll hopefully have forgotten.

In other news the person I saw in her garden is coming over today (cancelled the other week as she wasn't well). Exciting times!

lollipoppi · 05/07/2013 08:44

Sorry for all the shitty nights Hmm

Glorious glad the interview went well and fingers crosse for you!

Loving all this sunshine that's coming!!
So I cooked up a ridiculous amount of food for DD yesterday and stuck it in the freezer lets hope she likes it!!
DP came home and thought he was in for a slap up meal ha ha ... Nope burgers and chips for us love Wink

Pascha · 05/07/2013 08:55

Ha! I did baking yesterday for DH's birthday today but all we had for dinner was sausages chips and frozen peas Grin

Bunty mainline caffeine, its how I got through yesterday. I really hope DD settles down soon. I thought we would be in for a terrible night yesterday because D whinged and whinged and moaned all afternoon. I gave up and dosed him with nurofen at around 5.30pm and he turned into the happy smiling boy he should be, went to bed fine. That told me it must be teeth because there's very little else I would give it for.

newtothenet · 05/07/2013 09:19

Hi all, please may I join in?

My dd is 22 weeks and I'm in need of a bit of virtual support. She has always been a rubbish sleeper but has gone from bad to worse. A standard night is 5-6 short 15 minute feeds (ebf) per night. However, since moving from the Moses basket to the cot we have the same number of feeds but she now won't settle back down. It's taking over an hour of patting, picking up and putting down and more feeding to get her back off. I thought I was exhausted before but now I'm getting virtually no sleep and I keep getting cold after cold as I've no spare capacity to fight things off.

She's rubbish at napping - will only sleep on me or in the pram so I can't rest at the same time, and even then only usually has half an hour to an hour twice a day. Even on me it takes about ten minutes of rocking while crying to get her to sleep so if I put her in her cot and she cries, picking up and putting down doesn't stop her crying!

I'm reluctant to let her cry it out and she's not on any solids yet as we'd like to try blw. Anyway sorry for the moan - any virtual hugs welcome! And hello to you all!

AppleCrumples · 05/07/2013 10:16

Hello new and welcome :) sorry to hear you're having a hard time. If you read the recent posts on here you'llsee you're not alone. Ivy struggles with naps too. I seem to make a lot of unnecesary trips with the buggy just so she will go to sleep and then rush back for Brew while shes asleep

At night some babies seem to need to make crying noises when they are settling so while i wouldn't suggest leaving her to cry maybe just leave her a moment to see if she settles?

Sorry not much help but can i offer Brew and lots of sympathy?!

pascha yay for sleep! Sounds like teeth on the move

is it sad that the only exciting part of hot weather (IMO) is the chance to get heaps of washing done? Otherwise i am.a grump and really don't like the heat

Angielka · 05/07/2013 10:50

welcome new! well done glorious sympathy for shitty nights all...

I'm going on holiday to escape. Taking the kids with me but DH will not be at work so we can share terrible nights instead of me feeling I should take the brunt. Plus parents will be there for extra hands. See you when we're back!! Good luck everyone - will be hand-holding from a distance. x

Meringue33 · 05/07/2013 11:55

Thanks Angie

Welcome New

Love it Lora

Apples I am forcing myself to resist the lure of a laundry day as I just have so many other things I need to prioritise!

MIL is here. She "helped me" by feeding LO as I ate. Ignored the BLW-style fruit for him and went straight for the porridge. Actually pinned down one of his arms, stopped him trying to grab the spoon and was just shoving heaped spoonfuls right at the back of his throat Hmm

I took her to Baby Sign this morning too. There is a little girl of about one who is very shy and prefers to sit on her mummy's knee rather than join in with toy time at the end. MIL nodded at her and said loudly: "That one's strange isn't she? Strange!"

I was mortified and desperately hoped her mum hadn't heard! Blush

lollipoppi · 05/07/2013 12:31

Welcome new!

Meringue you have my sympathies with the MIL mine is VERY outspoken too! We avoid public places at all costs Wink

lollipoppi · 05/07/2013 12:33

Oh and apples - I'm already on my 3rd wash load! I go a bit crazy when the sun comes out too, by next week all the curtains, bedding, clothes, towels ect will have been washed regardless of whether they needed doing or not!
