Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Well after having a lovely day, B has been screaming pretty much constantly for the last half hour and I have no idea what's wrong. Confused

Hope he's stopped now happy.

Lora I hope you're feeling better today and you enjoyed your bath last night. Men are idiots, and it has to be spelt out to them just how hard this job is. We all have days where we get completely overwhelmed with it all. In the mornings, I get myself ready straight away after her first feed. Put yourself first now & again x

Had a lovely evening away last night. Nancy was fine upstairs while I was a grown up downstairs (eyes glued to the monitor!). Had a lovely day today too, wandering my home town. My days are all put now though, I keep thinking its Sunday.

happyhow · 03/07/2013 19:48

Thanks Creepy. It lasted for 2hrs on and off until he was spectacularly sick over me and him which has resulted in a bath for both of us... I gave him avocado for the first time at tea time so not sure if that's upset him but I thought it was supposed to be pretty harmless...

Glad you had a good night out. We've had to cancel our night out tonight because of B. Never mind.

Much better day working tax pay came through did some browsing and cool crochet new addiction not 70s style stuff.

Probably daft happy but did you check teeth? Thats my first assumption when he's got nowt else to moan about.

Wish me luck for an early bedtime again :-D

happyhow · 03/07/2013 21:12

That was my first thought Lora. Can't feel or see anything. He passed out on me for a bit then had a little milk then passed out again. Will just keep an eye on him.

meringue your Io and mine seem to be on the same wavelength. dd has also reverted to feeding every couple of hours and cluster feeding in the evenings. also having rubbish sleep here too. I think there is a growth spurt at six months and another wonder week too.

happy I'd probably give calpol if in doubt. could it be wind? dd gets very windy from all the new food she is trying.

happyhow · 04/07/2013 06:33

We gave calpol and he was really sick about 30 secs later. I think that was coincidence though. With the exception of about an hour dotted in between, I've been up since 1am with him. He's only started getting mardi in the last hour or so and not really feeding - might be teeth after all

Pascha · 04/07/2013 08:58

Dan woke at 2.10am for a feed and basically didn't settle til 4am on DH's chest after some nurofen Hmm I couldn't relax while they both slept so my day actually started approx 7 hours ago Hmm. Think its teeth here too, Happy.

BuntyCollocks · 04/07/2013 09:39

I've no idea wtf is going on with mine, but she is refusing to sleep in her cot after her first wakening at night. Health visitor useless - "have you thought of controlled crying?"

At my wits end. DH and I haven't slept in the same bed for a week. I miss him. I know this too shall pass but I am starting to be resentful of the fact she was an excellent sleeper and it's all gone to shit.

The wonder week is over here, but I'm thinking its teeth or physical growth spurt related. I just want sleep.

BuntyCollocks · 04/07/2013 09:39

pascha I also can't sleep even if DH has dd. I'm on edge. You have my sympathies.

Pascha · 04/07/2013 09:49

I've resorted to drugs when there's any hint of teeth, Bunty. Sad at 3am I will do anything to help the sleep along. I don't do very well at all on 2.5 hours sleep (does anyone?) DH knows this so takes the baby from me and tells me to sleep but it doesn't work. I worry he will be too tired in the morning, he's up at 6am anyway for work so any disturbed night makes me feel guilty. We've had a good run for the last 3 or 4 weeks I suppose, just one wake in the night for feed and straight back down but its all gone to shit here too the last couple of nights.

Its DH's birthday tomorrow and I have a shedload of errands to do, parcel to collect, cake to make etc. DH won't be home til around 7pm tonight so I will be doing both bedtimes (probably) and have them both all day to 'help' with the errands Hmm

Do you know what? I need a fag! Haven't smoked since 2005 but I can see why people go back to it now...

Pascha · 04/07/2013 09:51

I haven't bothered with the HV since the weight check at 12 weeks. Can't imagine asking them for any help.

Pascha · 04/07/2013 09:53

and to top it all we have been gearing up for the mortgage fix ending and being able to get a lower interest rate for lower monthly payments, only to realise that its July 2014 when the fix ends so we are a whole year out and stuck paying loads more for another 12 months

Tugstonia · 04/07/2013 09:59

Ladies sorry that some of you are having crap nights again :( Just when you think things are getting on track it all goes tits up doesn't it? Hope you manage to get some rest between chores.

DD has started waking every 2 hours for feeds again. Woke at 5.30am this morning and was wide awake and shouting. DP sleeps in the living room now (that's another thread) so I do all night wakings. Need caffeine on IV drip today.

I've been feeling pretty bleak lately. Trying to get back to work to restart my practice but it's a nightmare trying to coordinate bookings with availability at the clinic and childcare. Also feel really guilty leaving DD to go to work. Totally skint though so have no choice.

On a positive though we finally had an appointment for a scan of DD's heart to check out her murmur and all is fine :) Phew.

Lora1982 · 04/07/2013 10:01

I was back to fags after about a week! I was on the electic fag and those mini mint things but with the arrival of sir soddington I was like oh my god. I do fully intend to go back to the ecig when my life is nicer. Perhaps if I promis my body to go back now it will make the stupid sty dissappear off my eye.

He went sleep at 9 last night so quite good. But out of laziness hes not going in his own room because I dont like the idea of trapesing to him at 1am just cos he wants a dummy. Tis only once though but I think he can go as soon as that stops.

Signs of teeth its bongela, powder stuff then calpol... dont want him to build a tolerance to it so it doesnt work its magic when its REALLY needed.

Ladies its clearly a phase if all our babies are being sods its hopefully a phase

glorious · 04/07/2013 10:01

Glad things have improved lora. I'm hoping to do a modern patchwork quilt for ellen's room (not to sleep under obviously) so the craft bug is biting here as well. Just waiting for the sewing machine I'm borrowing. A friend makes really cute baby clothes too so I might try. It's about 15 years since I used one so it may be beyond me!

Sorry about your bad nights happy and pascha .

It's my interview today and E was surprisingly good last night! Down at 8, fed 9-10 at which point I thought it'd be awful, then only woke twice between 10 and 5. I then handed her over and had to feed her once but slept til 8.

Nervous now!

Pascha · 04/07/2013 10:06

Sir Soddington Grin Its the Marquess of Whinge here.

Good news Tugs about DDs heart scan. You must be relieved.

Glorious Good luck for the interview!

glorious · 04/07/2013 10:07

Massive cross post, forgot to press go.

Sorry bunty

tugs don't feel guilty, you're looking after everyone by bringing some money in. It must be tough though. Have some Brew from me.

Tugstonia · 04/07/2013 10:14

Ooh good luck glorious! Hope it goes well :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 04/07/2013 11:16

sorry to hear about the bad night pascha.

bunty dd is exactly the same. we never used to co sleep. then all of a sudden she started refusing to go back in her cot after waking in the night so she's been sleeping in with us. I'm a bit worried as we're not really set up for co sleeping, we have a small IKEA size double with a memory foam mattress. I'm not sure whether to embrace co sleeping and invest in a new mattress out whether this phase will pass in a few days.

great news about the heart tugs. although sorry you are in the crap sleep club too.

we have plain old Mrs grumpypants here Grin

good luck glorious!

Lostbobbles · 04/07/2013 11:40

Good luck Glorious x

Tugs, great news re heart heart scan, must be massive relief.

Sorry to those in crap sleep club, I have resorted back to the dummy to stop the feeding to sleep, not pleased as I know I'm just replacing one prop with another, but I prefer it to the hours of crying and whinging herself to sleep.

DD1 sports day yest, she managed to lose in spectacular fashion but very proud that she actually took part as she hates audiences and I could see how nervous she was getting. Good on her teachers though, lots of pep talks went on. Grin.

School finishes tomorrow, it's going to be a long summer! Confused

AppleCrumples · 04/07/2013 12:15

lost Shock school finishes tomorrow?! we still have 2 weeks!

Sorry for all the crap sleep Brew all round. Must be the age as Ivy is pretty hard work at the mo. She is clearlt getting more teeth too. She can sit by herselffor a bit now vut tries to bum shuffle so she topples!

glorious good luck.

tugs glad tp hear scan ok.

mrsbugsy i was beginnibg to wonder if a wonder week was part of the general crankiness!

Had ds2 sports day this am. So relieved thats over now! Love them and he did so well but its so much hanging aroubd with Ivy and this was our 3rd sports day in the lsst 2 weeks!

mrsbugsywugsy · 04/07/2013 12:54

Apparently there is another wonder week which starts at 23 weeks, which will be dd's adjusted age this weekend. I think she is probably starting that. She started the last one a bit early too. The bad news is it doesn't peak till 26 weeks Sad

I have been reading some old threads on tips for better night time sleep and found a tip to extend daytime naps by feeding / rocking them back to sleep after they start to wake up. This morning dd went for her morning nap at 10.30am, and started to wake up after half an hour as usual. I went and laid down next to her and fed her back to sleep...and she is still asleep now. It's been nearly two hours. I don't remember the last time she had a nap of more than an hour! I keep going to check if she's still alive. What is going on???

Also since she has been asleep I have got washed and dressed, washed up from breakfast, had a cup of tea, done some yoga, and am seriously contemplating hoovering the filthy living room. DP won't know what happened when he gets home.

I will report back tomorrow as to whether she has a better night as a result...

AppleCrumples · 04/07/2013 13:13

Ahhh Ivy is 26 weeks but 23 from due date so that might explain madams crankiness!

Meringue33 · 04/07/2013 13:19

Ah glad we are all in the same boat re sleep reassuring to know it is just another bloody wonder week

I am so exhausted and with cold I've actually slept in bed next to DP holding the crying baby. Didn't think that could ever happen but I guess when your body is finally tired enough!!

Great news Tugs that helps keep it all in perspective :)

Good luck Glorious

This LO is known as Problem Child and Trouble when he is being naughty. At other times he is just Gorgeous. Apart from the lack of sleep he is a joy to be around. Everyone comments on how smiley and engaging he is.

His christening is on Sunday! I have to give the house a bit of a tidy before all the relatives descend!
