Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Happy That's great!
No sitting or teeth here but lots of rolling

There is no way on this earth that dd would go from 2.30-7 with no nap! That woman is crazy!!

Dd has just tucked into a finger of toast and loved it!! Mash and carrots for tea tonight

Are strawberries ok to give?

CreepyCrawly · 02/07/2013 09:13

we got 12 hours last night. I had to keep making sure she was breathing.

We haven't started weaning yet. I'm finding it a bit daunting! Can they have everything? I know you e gotta be careful with salt, bit can they have butter on toast for example? And how big should pieces be cut in to? And what should I start with?! She's had a few sucks on a bit of apple..

We're going to SIL's hotel for the night tonight with some friends. Would I be a terrible mother if I took the video monitor and left her in the room sleeping while I'm downstairs (if it reaches). I say yes, DH said she'd be fine. I just have McCann images in my head!

CreepyCrawly · 02/07/2013 09:14

Yay for sitting too!

Pascha · 02/07/2013 09:23

www.babyledweaning.com/some-tips-to-get-you-started/ This is the site run by Aitch on here (who does the roundup). Check out the gallery pictures, gives an idea of what babies manage.

Creeepy ShockEnvy

Lostbobbles · 02/07/2013 09:42

Happy, yay on sitting.

Lolli- baby acrobatics also happening over here abs she is sitting quite nicely but still not able to correct herself but trying and getting better each day.

Rubbish night here again but what's new!

Busy day yest went to visit a friend i met at baby group first time around. She went on to have a little boy that was born at 24 weeks, he's 3 now and doing really well. One of life's little troupers that's for sure.

Pascha, I remember the big breakfast baby lol.

I haven't started much on the blw used loosely in my case front as she is not 6 months until the 11th. But she has tried to mouth a few bits and pieces. Little monkey went for my magnam yesterday with full gusto Grin.

Baby group today, first aid topic this week is fractures.

CreepyCrawly · 02/07/2013 10:12

Fab, thanks pascha

Wow at your friends little boy lost! That's amazing!

Lora1982 · 02/07/2013 10:15

Im going to have a look at that site pascha. Ive done a baby first aid course which covered choking so why am I so bothered? In my house he's getting brocolli and cauliflower with a side of toast for breakfast :-D

Angielka · 02/07/2013 10:47

Creepy wow, on sleep front, and no, not terrible mother at all. While we were in Poland we discovered that the video monitor reached to the hotel bar... you need your perks where you can get them, and with such a good sleeper, you won't be rushing in between bar and bedroom. The McCanns didn't have a monitor at all Hmm

Happy yay for sitting babies! Molly is sitting but only surrounded by loads of cushions, and she usually ends up on her front pretty quickly.

Pascha · 02/07/2013 10:57

Yum, Lora I bet thats what you're having too Wink

Lora1982 · 02/07/2013 17:53

Pissed off. Ive nearly been in tears today. Sick of having no time to myself. Sick of feeling like im doing all the baby shit. Sick of only finding time to have about five mins in a bath maximum once a fuking week. Sick of not having time to dye my hair. Sick of looking like a tramp everyday. Sick of never having time to completely get dressed and do make up. Just fucking sick.

Meringue33 · 02/07/2013 18:28

Awww Lora hugs to you (((())))
Another gloomy Tuesday, weather is awful here
If it makes you feel like you have company, I spent a few seconds literally banging my head on the counter today in frustration!

Pascha thanks for the link. Do you have to peel stuff like cucumber and potato that has a skin?

Cejay8 · 02/07/2013 19:27

Poor you Lora. Sounds like you need a large glass of wine in a hot bath. I would gladly share wine and have a moan with you, I have days like this too.

Lora1982 · 02/07/2013 19:40

And im sick of the stys I keep getting in my eyes. NEVER had them pre-child now its four since jan. Dps making me a bath and has said I hafto tell him if its getting too much cos hes a bit slow. Fuck men for not being psychic. And im pissed off I had to google psychic because my brain truely can't spell post child either. He's clearly stolen my brains aswell as my health and looks

Pascha · 02/07/2013 20:43

Ooh. Erm, I would leave the skin on the cucumber, except maybe a bit at the top, makes it easier to grip and its edible, although I seem to remember DS1 would gnaw the insides and leave the skin anyway.

Potato, if you mean baked potatoes, just quarter them, fluff up the potato inside and add whatever food to the mush, they can scoop the insides out easily then. New potatoes I would leave the skin on and just scrub really well.

Lostbobbles · 02/07/2013 21:23

Sorry your having shit day Lora, hope you enjoy your bath. Obviously i have to on school days, but even on weekends, i find getting up and getting ready straight away, helps me to feel half human and gives me the oomph to get out the house. and i wouldn't inflict my bare face upon the world

On serious note, not sure i can do BLW, Baby in JL today choked on a piece of banana and the mum just panicked, luckily another mum close by jumped to the rescue and got it out within a couple of hits. I know that it's probably rare but has really put me off now as i'm bad enough with the gagging as it is. Can't believe it was banana as well of all things.

Lora1982 · 02/07/2013 21:35

Oh no at the banana!! I gave him one to knaw on today without the net thing cos I was feeling brace but now im scared again. He choked on mushed up brocolli the attention seeker.

Bath was good.hes asleep finally. He never usually sleeps before ten so this eight o clock thing might be a nice new treat for me. Im going to try getting me ready before him on a morning see if I feel less of a tramp.

Good luck for tonight everyone Grin

octanegirl · 02/07/2013 22:05

Lora take a deep breath and talk to your DP. Men are totally rubbish and definitely didn't get the mind reading gene. You have to lay your cards on the table or he won't have a clue!

Is Dexter in a routine? If he isn't put him in one- honestly, it's a god send - I'm on my own all week and it's the only way I can get things done as I know when I have to feed him and he is calm for a few hours at a time. It means I can work (or not!) in hour long slots while he plays on his own or naps. I don't constantly interact with him because I don't have time, so he's learnt to amuse himself when I'm busy.

It will all be ok!

Lora1982 · 02/07/2013 23:33

Yes he's sort of in a routine but its the amusing himself hes rubbish at. Fine for twenty mins or so then gets bored. Think he'll be better when he can sit longer on his own he doesnt seem to like lying down.

Touch wood though I fetched him upstairs at 8 so I could feed him lying down so I could rest and hes still asleep. He doesnt usually sleep for the night til half ten. Praps he knows his mums broke!

Tomorrows a new day!! :-D thanks all

Meringue33 · 03/07/2013 01:37

Lora my LO is exactly the same. I think sitting up will change everything. He has also only just started going upstairs to bed in the early evenings but still wakes up several times in the night

Meringue33 · 03/07/2013 01:39

Thanks Pascha

Baked potatoes, yum. He troughed a whole avocado plus several carrot batons and half a Maris Piper today.

He has difficulties holding the food tho so I end up feeding him from my hand like a donkey

lollipoppi · 03/07/2013 10:10

lora today's a new day, get out for a walk and fresh air if you can or retail therapy

lost omg at the banana!
I'm off food shopping today to stock up on fruit and veg and ice cube trays then an afternoon of cooking!

Can anybody recommend a blender?

Angielka · 03/07/2013 10:43

Lora hope today is going well. Big hugs to you - this job is a tough 'un.
Ooh lost that must have been scary. I did baby first aid before DD1 was born but am a bit rusty - might be time to watch a few videos on youtube.
All of you talking about what your little ones are eating is getting me impatient to start. Molly's clearly ready... maybe I'm being totally anal about the allergies thing, but a couple of weeks won't make much difference, right?
lolli we have a braun simple blender like this: www.google.be/search?q=braun+blender&client=firefox-a&hs=v3K&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=-PHTUcfHN83GtAbVl4HgAw&ved=0CFEQsAQ&biw=1440&bih=700#facrc=&imgdii=&imgrc=vRfFqV1YLyULwM%3A%3BGb8hGl0gUeE1ZM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.seasonedwithlove.com%252Fbraun.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.seasonedwithlove.com%252Fkitchen_helpers.htm%3B300%3B300 woah, sorry about the huge link, and it's really good for all sorts

Angielka · 03/07/2013 10:43

God, sorry - link here

Meringue33 · 03/07/2013 10:47

Lolli I got a little handheld Russell Hobbs one from Morrisons for £12.99 seems to do the job so far!

He seems to be on some sort of perpetual growth spurt at the moment! When he was 3 mo he went 3-4 hours between feeds in the day and 5-6 hours at night. Now at six months it's every 2 hours in day and every 3 hours at night... Plus 2-3 meals of solid food??? Not sure what is going on??

Sleep seems to be a nightmare too, wonder if its another regression. Co slept from 2am last night as couldn't take it any more.
