Judging by the noise she is making chasing the cats I think she is fine Hmm

Lily311 · 22/05/2013 18:48

I reminded my brother on whatsapp that it was sweary Wednesday and not thankful Thursday after he made a comment about being grateful for the apple founder as he was bored and was killing time on his iPod. He thought it was hilarious.

O had physio today, she cried so much, I just wanted to cuddle her and run away. But she seemed so much better afterwards. Can someone remind me what O can have at this age (she just turned 6m)? I have the annabel karmel book but it's still in one of the boxes. Is lentils/chicken/pasta ok? Or are they from 7 months? How about fish? Cheese? She had yoghurt already and loved it.

I think I broke my toe. I don't want to look down. I am very very clumsy and kicked the side of the bed with full force. The toe in question was broken twice before.

BigPigLittlePig · 22/05/2013 18:59

Whack-oneself-Wednesday? So much injury/sickness Confused

Kyz it sounds as though you are handling things wonderfully, and you're being a brilliant support for your mum. E will be fine without food for a few days.

Lily ow.

We have an under-the-arm thermometer from Mothercare, seems to do the job and was a couple of pounds IIRC.

Have begun the evening feed already, 15 minutes earlier than last night, so hopefully tonight will be an improvement on last night.

ValiumQueen · 22/05/2013 19:02

Lily ouch! They can have pretty much anything except no cows milk to drink and no honey until a year old. Obviously added in gradually. I tend to leave meats until they are 7 months but that is because mine have not been on full meals by then. Some advice is to avoid strawberries as they are a common allergen. And no runny eggs before a year apparently.

ChasingDaisy · 22/05/2013 19:10

Be careful of apricots Confused

BigPigLittlePig · 22/05/2013 19:11

Is O ok now, chasing?

ChasingDaisy · 22/05/2013 19:28

He is thank you Smile. Rash has gone and my heartrate is almost back to normal. I get a rash when I eat strawberries so shouldn't have been so surprised.

horseylady · 22/05/2013 19:36

We have a crawler......

It's a funny crawl but he can now get places without rolling.

Oh dear.

kyz hugs. He'll be fine with no solids for a few days. Look after yourself and your mum. Dp and mil will be fine

chasing hope he's ok.

Ds has potato and cheese then a yogurt and then milk!!

We've had less vom today too. Hopefully it was the cold. Am keeping a food and vom dairy anyway (nice!!)

There was something else......mmmmmm.....oh yes, colic. Killed one of my horses :(

ChasingDaisy · 22/05/2013 19:42

Oh horsey Sad about your horsey. Colic is horrid.

Yay for crawling! My money was on E being first to crawl, but on Detective's O being the youngest to manage it. How old is E now?

PetiteRaleuse · 22/05/2013 19:42

:( horsey ? Today? Colic in horses is horrible. Assime this is in the past?

Passmethecrisps · 22/05/2013 19:42

I knew E would be the first crawler horsey! Uh oh!

Glad O is better chasing. You must have been very scared.

Massive, massive hugs for kyz and babykyzsibling

In my opinion runny eggs should never be given. . . Because they are nasty yuck.

ValiumQueen · 22/05/2013 19:46

Horsey sorry about your horse. Colic is horrid in horses. Great about the crawling though. Had there been a bet on, my money would have been on E to be first. I think J will be the last. He has not even rolled over yet. I am not worried as like PR said the other day, when there are crazy toddlers around they do not get the same floor time, plus throw in infections and reflux and fucking school run 4 times a day.....

ValiumQueen · 22/05/2013 19:48

We all seem to have the same opinion of E! Grin

Passmethecrisps · 22/05/2013 19:50

Colic in horses is awful. A terrible thing.

Coming from that the article pp posted really is interesting reading. Having seen P overtired you really would believe that her insides were twisting and she was screaming in kicking in pain. I do agree that overtiredness and overstimulation are poorly understood and poorly recognised. However, and I might e misunderstanding, he seems to be suggesting that this is the actual reason behind diagnosed conditions such as reflux and intolerances. I certainly agree that colic is the 'go to' fob-off of over pressed doctor but I would be wary of putting people off seeking medical interventions in what are (in my experience certainly) very real medical conditions which require treatment.

horseylady · 22/05/2013 19:59

pass eloquently put. I know though giving e a good burp makes all the difference in his mood some days. But yes I imagine there's a huge difference to intolerances (hence me not thinking he's got one) and general grizzles!!! We called his the 9pm grizzles!!

He's been trying and trying to crawl for a week or so. Today he figured out a way to do it!! It's not a proper up on all fours but he moves across the floor.

Yes, three years ago. Poor boy. Had the option of surgery, but it was bad. He could have died on the operating table or coming round. Or later. I knew I was looking at a dead horse as soon as I saw him in the morning. He was a good old boy.

ChasingDaisy · 22/05/2013 20:01

I love how we know the quiche babies well enough to have such opinions of them Smile I love all of their distinct personalities.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 22/05/2013 20:01

Crawling, how exciting horsey. DS can sort of wriggle while on his tummy to move around, but I am not sure how deliberate the action is. It is like the angry sky diving motion propels him, somehow!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/05/2013 20:02

LO gets zero floor time. She'll get loads at my mum's as there are carpets there. That will get her used to it. Then I'll try at home when the weather improves and my floors are less of a mud bath. DD1 learned on a big rug we had but the cat destroyed it with repeated puking so I ended up chucking it as could no longer get the bits of puke out.

Pikz · 22/05/2013 20:10

Yay go E! His french name buddy is desperately trying to...:)

BigPigLittlePig · 22/05/2013 20:11

You've got to love the pets, eh pr!

I too would have imagined E to be the first crawler! Whenever I go shopping, and put F in the baby seat in the trolley, I think of that photo of E all smug in his big boys seat.

F has very little on-ground time, thanks to reflux. She has rolled many times on one day, and never since. It's like she can't remember how to anymore Confused

Pass I'm with you on that article. I would have loved it if a darkened room and shh-patting was the answer, but certainly in Fs case, she needed help for her reflux. "Colic" is a good old catch-all phrase though isn't it. Much loved by MILs the world over!

Interesting though about babies turning away when they're overstimulated. DH gets quite cross that every evening, F won't look at him. Looks away, quite pointedly Grin. But perhaps that explains it. It'll certainly make him feel a bit better!

Pikz · 22/05/2013 20:13

Hopefully that was the last flip over of the evening....found him nose down in corner at top of cot Shock

PetiteRaleuse · 22/05/2013 20:26

Turning away is one of LO.S knackered signs. Te second she turns in the cot I shove her comforter in her little hands and run for it leave the room quietly. I'll read that article. It sounds interesting.

LO has no toys or mobile in her cot except for her comforter thing.

Passmethecrisps · 22/05/2013 20:26

P spends most of her time rolling around on the floor. She compulsively rolls into her front - Perhaps it is more comfy - the lies there and shouts. I thought she would be quite quick to learn to crawl but I am not so sure. I bought her a nest thing today to practice sitting in as she just won't and ends up face planting.

Oh! And we have a record of 31oz of milk today! Huzzah!

And she full-on nommed almost half of a papaya. I am not sure what likes most about cucumber either - its cooling properties on her cheek, its coolig properties on her gums or its nommability.

Yup - head turning goes on here as well. Or face burying.

The recent crawling business made me remember something I meant to mention.

Isn't is weird what babies decide is fascinating? Right now P is obsessed with trying to grab the remote controls. She lusts after them.

The other day she was on the changing mat and, as her habit had been for a good few days, was straining wildly over to the right. I assumed the object of her desire was a wooden pull on a rope dog. So, I am turned rummaging in a like of clothes looking for a suitable sleepsuit when I hear a noise. There she is with a scabby orchid pot sitting on her chest looking enormously chuffed with herself. She had orchid compost all over her but seemed content just to sit with it on her while she examined the leaves. Said orchid has been moved.

Most recently, me blowing dandilion clocks is awesome and hilarious.
