No fear chasing I'm still here Grin Couldn't abandon my sofa buddy!

YellowWellies · 27/05/2013 19:38

Izzy sounds like dairy and oats - they're the most allergenic ingredients in what he's reacted to. Both are common allergies causing hives and digestive pain in babies - if both are in your diet I bet they're a big reason why he's not sleeping.

BPLP Don't feel bad. Most folks put their brains to one side when cooking dairy free. I'm loathe to trust anyone but DH, my sister and other people who have intolerances - as others just plain forget, cook on autopilot or worse (MIL) think intolerances are tosh and think he won't notice. To be fair I thought a bit like this before Captain Reflux entered my life - I thought folks exaggerated about reactions and it was a fuss over nothing. Karma sure bit me on the ass!!!! I now check labels with the fervour of a kosher NY dieter! Envy

GTbaby · 27/05/2013 19:41

Izzy. Check ingredients for yogurt n cereal to see if anything is same. Has he tried just apple or peach?

LO has only had yoghurt other then fruit n veg. So maybe try dets suggestion.

ChasingDaisy · 27/05/2013 19:41

I was going to say izzy could you stick to foods with just one ingredient - or as det suggests, just fruit and veg? I forget how far on you are with weaning.

I am nervous about introducing wheat tomorrow, but I'm guessing, if anything, that it would cause more of a digestive issue than an allergic reaction?

When you offer water, are you all still offering cooled, boiled? I think I read somewhere that tap water is fine after 6 months?

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 19:42

YW I could be found this afternoon, on my hands and knees in the biscuit aisle, checking labels Blush - BUT did you know that Sainsbos basic rich tea biccies are dairy free? Yup. Half a packet was nommed. DH couldn't believe there is milk powder in Sensations thai sweet chilli crisps neither could I tbh - LO will be having a lunchbox to go to CMs and MILS once I'm back to work, that's for damn sure.

YellowWellies · 27/05/2013 19:58

BPLP I see your Rich Tea and raise you Tesco Basics chocolate bourbons. Hell yeah..... Wink

Today I am having big dirty cravings for rocket, parmesan and balsamic vinegar, nyaaaaahhhhh Envy

ChasingDaisy · 27/05/2013 20:00

The cheepy chocolate bourbons are the best anyway Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 20:05

The thing is, I'm not sure whether it is the dairy in chocolate that has always affected F, or the chocolate in chocolate, iyswim. Dark chocolate has always been worse than milk....gah so tricky.

When I finish bf, I am going to have a feast which at the very least, contains the following.

Cheddar cheese (big block of)
Easter eggs (yes, they're still waiting for me)
Yoghurts (one of my favourite foods)
Icecream
Proper coffee
A vanilla custard slice
Toast with proper melty butter

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 20:05

And then I'm probably going to keel over with occluded arteries Grin

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 27/05/2013 20:07

He hasn't had apple or peach alone. So far more only baby rice, banana and pear. Oh and the yoghurt and that cereal. He is almost 30weeks but won't open his mouth to eat so haven't tried much..

daisychain76 · 27/05/2013 20:23

Huge admiration for bplp, yw and other dairy free mums. Hope you get answers soon izzy. Went out to lunch with my friend who has a severe dairy allergy today and think l was more nervous than her about her eating the wrong thing. We were at an all you can eat buffet which is enormous, but the only pudding she could actually eat was jelly.

Well, H did 2 lots of 3 hours last night. Felt like bliss. Pleeeeese let it last.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 20:34

The cat has just reappeared and he STINKS. I do not know what he has been rolling in, but it is something truly revolting.

YellowWellies · 27/05/2013 20:34

I am now starting to smell dairy coming from peoples' pores - this is something Cantonese friends had always said about Brits (when I lived in HK) that we ate so much dairy you could smell it. I can confirm this is true. Brits smell slightly cheesy Grin

My feast will include tiramisu, a big slab of cheddar (eaten with picked onions), cheese on toast, dairy milk, the worlds biggest Mars bar, monster munch, lemon cheesecake, Baileys and a mug of tea. And if attempts to reintroduce soy next month fail - I will also be bathing in wagamamas, a big Chinese takeout and juggling sushi Grin Grin Grin Grin

GTbaby · 27/05/2013 20:41

Woop di do. Mum is having LO for the night. I'm off home to sleep Grin
Bit nervous. Longest I've ever spent away from him. But ill pick him up in morning. So he won't even notice I'm gone.
I'm thinking he needs to get used to it (Wink) Incase he has to stay with them when I go to hospital with lo2, so we should do a few trial runs before September Smile

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:42

Jelly - I meant to ask. As poor O is so restricted on the yums he can have - I was eating some sugar free jelly earlier, and wondering if he could have this, and at what age?

When is jelly okay? 1? I don't want to deprive him of little sweet treats now and then.

I gave him some toast earlier. He attacked the bowl and flung bits of toast everywhere. The dog stole some, then I shoved some in his mouth for him, and he grabbed on to it, nommed it, then choked and puked! D'oh! He managed to pick up a small piece of shredded iceberg lettuce earlier! I was impressed - pincer grip on display! We are going to get going again now I think. Going to give BLW a try again now he is 6 months. Will see...

Oh, for any of the other sitting up babies, a question. O has been trying to sit for about 3-4 weeks but isn't much further on with it? He can do it for 30 seconds or so, but if he moves his head to the side, off he goes over.

He's so frustrated! He keeps assuming the crawl position and failing. But he's been like this with both for almost a month?! Why isn't he getting any further on? Is his brain just ahead of his body?!

Also, changing nappies, with an upside down baby is tricky. The knee change is impossible almost now, I'm often holding on to one leg as he dangles on the floor upside down Hmm and doing it on the floor just means he can roll and escape even easier. I'm ready to give up on changing the little horrorbag!

Also, he's asleep minus swaddle again tonight. He's cracked it!

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 20:44

Det they used jelly for messy play at baby group, so I am hoping that means it is safe. Fs first food was jelly, at said group. She lurved it glad we ignored the custard at the same session

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:48

I can't wait to indulge in the things I want to again! I'm not being a fat bastard though, so I have to just keep bloody going!

YW That dairy milk with jelly beans and popping candy in is utterly awesome. I had one square from DS's. I was in heaven. Sounds wrong, but so yuuuuuuum.

I can't wait til I can have a whole damn bar of it!

Spoke too soon. DP now dispatched upstairs as O has woke up. D'oh!

PetiteRaleuse · 27/05/2013 20:49

Changing nappies is a challenge now I was going to mention that earlier today Detective

LO can sit up, but not get to sitting position on her own. Once she is sat she topples quite easily :o

She's happiest ditting gorward in her pram so she can hold on to the bar in front and if she falls back it's not to lying position so easier to get back up.

BigPigLittlePig · 27/05/2013 20:49

DH is eating that dairy milk right now. It smells divine.

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:49

I let him suck my jellied finger. He attacked it and nearly bit it off Blush

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:50

It fucking is Angry.

I feel your pain.

It's in my fridge. Too high on syns for me to have more than one small 5g piece!!!

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:51

I think they need to make some kind of baby restraining device to strap arms and legs and bums down for easier changing!!!

I swear he grows 4 extra limbs just for change times.

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 20:53

Oh and to stop them poo digging. It's not fucking archeology.

TheDetective · 27/05/2013 21:03

Oh well. DP just swaddled him again Hmm.

.

YellowWellies · 27/05/2013 21:03

Archaeology!!!!! snort.... Grin

I was going to say enjoy those 5g pieces - some things are best savoured slowly but that's bollocks. Chocolate is best by the kg Smile
