pp I would like my DD's to be fit and healthy, enjoy the good things in life, realise they can achieve pretty much what they want if they put their mind ro it, and show respect to themselves and others.

Ooh, just remembered I blogged about this a few weeks ago: pint-sized-rants.blogspot.fr/2013/02/things-girls-should-know.html

Hope no-one minds the link

BigPigLittlePig · 23/05/2013 10:18

Hooray indeed pass. I am as happy as a very tired skylark.

No idea how to conceal a large forehead. I too am blessed cursed with one. I'm told it means that one is wise Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 23/05/2013 10:29

Great post pr. My poor mum had such a hard time when I was growing up - very bright but brought up to know her place (she was told "factory or shop work is suitable for a girl like you" by her careers adviser) and was forced to work in a factory to keep the family afloat. Looking back I know she was depressed but goodness she and I were like battling tigresses.
It is to her credit, however, that she believed a university education was within my grasp, was my right and was the only way to escape the rural fucking shithole we grew up in. I know lots of girls who were prevented from going for all sorts of bizarre mysoginistic reasons.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/05/2013 10:37

Thank you pass

I think when you have very young children we tend to analyse how our mums in particular brought us up. What will we do the same and differently.

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 10:49

Brilliant news pig! I want a fit Irish doctor. The accent...swoon city.

I have a sad baby today. Took calpol to stop the crying last night and he has barely fed today. He has been rubbing his ear so am suspecting teething. Can also feel a raised lump on his gum. I think he is also struggling to poo. Would it be wise to give him a day off solids? The apricot reaction could have affected his insides too I guess.

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 10:53

Big forehead here too. Wise, yep that's me.

pass how about a sweeping fringe and side parting. Maybe a few long layers which can still be tucked into a ponytail?

Passmethecrisps · 23/05/2013 11:12

chasing would you like to come to the hairdressers with me?

BigPigLittlePig · 23/05/2013 11:20

F has been asleep in her pram for nearly 2 hours now. I have had a hot drink, sorted some work stuff, done attempted a crossword. Am looking forward to her waking up and feeding though as I have the most painful blocked duct Sad

MaMaPo · 23/05/2013 13:05

Sorry to hear of sad baby. I have one too, she was all out of sorts and had to feed to sleep.

Can someone dig out the slapping fish? I have unwisely been looking round t'internets while despairing about babyC's and keep coming across mums whose babies sleep 13.5 hours at night. Surely they are all an elegant practical joke, those people.

Nighttime here - I've had my mum with me since I arrived in Aus 10 days ago, but she's gone back home 3 hours away. Nobody to palm babyC off to when she decides 4am is party time. I miss my mum already. My mother in law is here, but (?pointedly) hasn't insisted I bring her the baby if she won't settle. Oh well.

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 13:08

pass Grin it is my default hairstyle. Has potential to look nice when I need it to, but I can leave it scruffy most of the time.

BigPigLittlePig · 23/05/2013 13:14

I've just been sorting through Fs old clothes. I found some impossibly tiny babygrows, that she was once too small for. How has she got so bloody big!???

Chasing is O any happier?

Mamampo one day you too will have a baby who sleeps. That is my current mantra to myself.

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 13:24

He's sleeping now but still sad Sad Has taken some milk though which is good. He feels a bit warm so will take his temp when he wakes up. Can teething cause a high temp?

MissMummy1 · 23/05/2013 13:48

I am on a bus! On my own! Shock and remembering why I always drive Envy (not a jealous face)

I miss Matilda Sad .

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 14:04

I hate travelling by bus. I always end up smelling of bus Sad. Are you working MM?

MissMummy1 · 23/05/2013 14:11

Kind of. I am going to a cheese and wine event up North. Mainly to catch up with some old uni mates but will hopefully make some new connections too. The promise of wine is the only reason I am not driving. I have started getting really travel sick unless I am driving. Sad

MissMummy1 · 23/05/2013 14:12

*new work connections

ValiumQueen · 23/05/2013 14:51

Chasing teething should not cause a temp but many many mums say it does. Considering the average small child has 13 colds a year and there are many nasty bugs around at the moment, I think there is likely an underlying infection. If hitting his ear best to get that checked in case it is infected. Keep an eye on output. They must keep weeing. Leave off solids until better and focus energy on milk.

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 14:57

Thanks VQ Thanks. Will. check his temp when he wakes.

YellowWellies · 23/05/2013 15:27

Jonas is talking non stop to the cat Smile Smile Smile Smile who is being bribed to stay put with cat treats.

I too am blessed of slaphead forehead. We'd all have been court beauties in Elizabethan times Smile

I would like to teach Jonas a sense of adventure / seizing opportunities - that the world is an exciting place and you're a long time dead; kindness and how to respect people (especially future partners be they male or female); a respect for nature; tolerance for other cultures; and a love of learning - whether academic or practical. I'd like him to have the confidence I only gained mid twenties after dubious relationships!

Who mentioned David Attenborough as a secret crush? - I luffs him!!!!

MM am v envious of your time off! Cheese and wine would have tempted me sod work connections Grin

YellowWellies · 23/05/2013 15:31

PR great blog post - I think how to spot and leave a bad relationship is also so important. Added to my list. Thanks wise quiche Smile

Passmethecrisps · 23/05/2013 15:36

Me! Attenborough the silver fox!

YellowWellies · 23/05/2013 15:55

He crawled! For the cat Envy

ChasingDaisy · 23/05/2013 16:12

Temp is 36.9. This is ok?

PetiteRaleuse · 23/05/2013 16:20

That looks fine chasing . I thought LO was a little warm this morning so took her temperature and she was 36.9.

Typical temperature is 36.8°. Fever is 38+

Not sure of the exact figures. If you take the temperture under the arm you need to add 0.5°

Cacacaz · 23/05/2013 16:45

chasing 36.9 is fine temperature wise. 38 is a low grade fever. If M has a temp of 38 I give paracetamol.

Pass I usually ask for either some highlights or lowlights. Side parting with sweeping fringe and layers is my fail safe hairstyle.
