Is it just me who feels wrong on their phone in the car, when they aren't even driving?!?!

My bits are super sore after schlepping round Ikea at snail pace. Ho hum. Got O some stacking cups. And Brockle I finally got the pictures for O's room!!

ValiumQueen · 20/05/2013 16:35

And we have a second tooth! At this rate he will have a full set by the end of the month.

I have never had a child vom in a car seat. Just as well we will be throwing it away soon.

I have heard a rumour there is an ERF car seat in Toys R Us for £120. Will check out and report back if true.

BigPigLittlePig · 20/05/2013 16:35

Currently all snuggled up with baby and cat on my lap on the sofa Smile.

Det glad you didn't have to kick no asses! Hope the formula helps.
Pikz that sucks, hope the human contingent came off better than the four-wheeled amongst you.
Horsey - sounds dreadful. Any vom is too much vom!
Pidj no dairy free products have been purchased as of yet - shopping on Wednesday though so will be getting some vitalite, and some almond milk. Or oat milk. Or summat. So I can make myself some goodies!

ValiumQueen · 20/05/2013 16:41

Horsey from what I recall E is growing and developing well, and a happy up-chucker. However I think that the vomiting should be under control by now, with little possets now and again. If just for the washing. How about talking to your GP or HV? You must be a bit worried or you would not have mentioned it. Oh, and the more I hear and read your sons name, the more I wish I had used it. I thought it was a girls name originally but I love it now x

Does anyone have the slightest wibble about the name they chose? I worry that Jacob is getting very popular. The number of babies I have come across with the same name is quite high. Sometimes I wish we had been brave enough for Erazmus.

ValiumQueen · 20/05/2013 16:43

Great news Detective. I shall be watching with interest. I would recommend phasing in the milk like last time as the taste grows on you. Apparently.

horseylady · 20/05/2013 16:53

vq on an average week hell vom up the entire bottle two mornings a week. A posset every morning regardless. That's with two sachets of gaviscon.

Last night he vommed a reasonable amount just as we were going out. Today he's vommed up a bit of milk (posset) at breakfast, then again about 12.30.

Often with the possets he cries quite a bit? Then stops once he voms?

Ill pop into the village clinic tomorrow. He's growing etc. I'm not worried, just more people are seeing the vom episodes now and are shocked at them. Im wondering if I'm now being a bit blasé about it?

I love his name :) I think your Jacob looks like a Jacob though. I don't think it's that popular either?

BigPigLittlePig · 20/05/2013 16:55

Bless my mummy, she's sent me a link to a goats milk producer somebody has recommended to her - remind me why goats milk isn't used?

BigPigLittlePig · 20/05/2013 16:56

Oh, and I love Fs name. The alternative girls name was Erin. My dad, when told this after F was born, said he was glad we didn't choose Erin as it is a brand of compost (he is a gardener). My gran pointed out that Fs name is a lingerie brand though Hmm

esmelovessqualor · 20/05/2013 17:04

Hello! Hoping I can join you all - my DD Esme was born on the 12th November. I've been dipping in and out of threads (lurking) since the ante natal days and its been great seeing how all the babies are getting on.

I feel like I have a bit more time to myself now so I can actually join in!

Esme started weaning around 10 days ago, attempting BLW but not feeling too confident yet, lots of runny nappies. Although that could be from the two new front teeth. Which she loves biting me with. Ouch!

Anyway, I'm going to try and keep up with the threads as best I can, look forward to joining in!

Kyzordz · 20/05/2013 17:23

Welcome esme :)

horsey that sounds like quite a bit of vom, is he growing etc well? Perhaps go to gp for something other than the ig? Could a stay down milk work? I guess not as it would be like with gaviscon. I agree with vq your lo has a lovely name, I like it the more I hear it.

lots of the names in this quiche were on my shortlist, both genders.

ChasingDaisy · 20/05/2013 17:26

VQ I love the name Jacob. Would have been Oscar's name if we didn't already have a Jacob in the family.

I sometimes have the wobbles over O's name as I think it might date him as he gets older but he just is Oscar and has been since the 20 week scan.

pig I love F's name. If O had been a girl he may have been a different F - I love Florence.

MissMummy1 · 20/05/2013 17:27

All okay picz ?

Jacob is a gorgeous Jacob. He definitely suits his name.

I still love Matilda's name as even though it wasn't even considered by either of us when preggers I personally dont think we could have chosen a better name for her. (except Luna but I go it in the middle!) I still need to think of a witty comeback for the bellends who ask me if she can move furniture with her fingers though Hmm

Welcome btw esme Grin

Pikz · 20/05/2013 17:38

Glad to hear of doctor successes.

We are all ok just frightened me a lot as had Luc and another friends baby in car. Completely not my fault and very glad I drive a absolute tank which just has a broken bumper. The other car was not so lucky.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2013 17:38

Welcome esme

horsey neither of mine have been pukers, but both tend(ed) to vom more when they needed a poo. Hmm

Good news vq about the chest and ears. Poor J has had a rough time with colds. Bastard sodding viruses. When LO had ear problems she was obviously in pain and wouldn't eat without paracetamol. There was no sign of the problem right until the eardrum perforated. You remember I had her checked the day before and the ears were clear. So worth keeping an eye on.

I learned something interesting. When LO was last ill she was given antibiotics on suspicion that her ears were reinfected. Just afterwards I had sinusitis and was on antibiotics. Being non medical I assumed that was what LO had had, and mentioned it to paed last week. She said no, impossible as babies only get sinusitis very rarely, and when they do it is easy to diagnose as they swell visibly.

Pikz · 20/05/2013 17:39

I like Jacob but my nephew was called Jacob so no go for us

I am glad I was brave enough to do Luc and not Luke just because I love the fact it's a little different.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2013 17:41

Theories about ikea:

-people get into a buying frenzy and lose concentration when driving

-people fill their cars with flatpacks and can't see as well

-people fill their tums with horseballs and thus lose ability to drive properly

Glad you're ok though

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2013 17:45

I like my DD's names but they are very popular and people comment on the fact they are both Bronte first names. Not deliberate but it doesn't bother me. The Bronte sisters are perfectly good role models.

YellowWellies · 20/05/2013 17:45

Horsey that sounds a lot TBH also bear in mind that many happy chuckers end up unhappy in the end (my nephew for example) as whilst the acid erosion of their throats is slower than for silent refluxers because they have the sense to chuck up the acid rather than swallow it back down - eventually it will burn and suddenly good sleepers turn into dreadful ones. So keep an eye on it x

VQ I love Jacob's name! I love Jonas' too but think we should have given him Bear as either first or middle name as that's what he's called 90% of the time! Though Bear Payne hmmmm Blush Hmm

TheDetective · 20/05/2013 17:54

I have stolen DP's laptop. Mine is now in use as a make shift TV Hmm. TV has completely buggered now. :(

YW Hows things? Hope you are feeling better this evening.

Pikz Good. I am very glad to hear that you are all fine. Make sure you claim for both the car seats, as by the sounds of it, if the other car is in bad shape, they will need replacing. :( Talking about car seats - I think mine has gone faulty. Shock Tried ringing the manufacturer before but they were shut already. Siiiiiiigh.

Horsey I would say that O's vomiting is fairly under control now. He does posset with feeds, and occasionally we have a tidal wave. But I'd say no more than once a week do we have a mega full bottle vom. I know you have mentioned about the gaviscon clogging his bowels up, but if you upped the dose, you could perhaps try lactulose to counteract? If it bothers you and E. That is the thing really - does it bother you? Don't worry about what other people think.

With names - I REALLY wanted Jacob. O would have suited it so very much. I even called him Jacob in my head when he was born. But where I work, absolutely every other little boy was Jacob. I convinced myself it was so popular. Well, where I live, there is one little Jacob. Hmm Bloody gutted now! Think it is just popular where I work posh buggers!. So no, I am jealous! I would have loved to have Jacob, and wish I'd just gone for it now. Oscar is far more common. There are several here. D'oh!

But he suits his name. The other contenders - Elijah, Luca, and Dexter - just weren't him in the end. I love the fact his middle name is Zachary. He gets letters addressed to Master Oscar Z Surname! I think it's a cool initial Wink.

Going to have a rant in my next post... brace yourselves!

TheDetective · 20/05/2013 17:58

Hahaha PR! DP would like me to tell you about the twat we saw today. He fits your theory! He was driving his shiny sports car, roof down, with all his Ikea goods just, well, flapping in the breeze! Stuff sticking out everywhere Hmm. Sure it wasn't quite legal. DP saw the knobber at the lights, take a selfie on his phone WTF?! Why... what is wrong with that man?! Why would you a) have your roof down with all your shit sticking out the car, plastic storage boxes and all, and b) take a picture of yourself driving said roofless removal van?!

TheDetective · 20/05/2013 18:05

That wasn't my rant btw, this is it.

We have no Pepti 1. Repeat px put in last wednesday, 48 hours for collection. Picked it up Friday, took it to chemist. Chemist said it would be in on Monday. That's the usual case - they don't have it in stock, but they get it in the next day with their delivery.

So DP just went to collect it, and collect the Nutramigen. No Pepti. Manufacturing issue apparently.

I am so far beyond raging, I am quite calm. Eerily calm. This means someone is going to get it tomorrow. How can you do this to little babies? Babies who have no other source of nutrition, and rely on this milk.

This is the 3rd time I have known of this by the way. Fucking Aptamil are going to get a very angry phone call tomorrow.

We have 2 bottles left in the fridge, and after that, there is none.

So, we can't mix it. And if he doesn't take it, all we have is LF in.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

(BTW, for those who are using nutramigen - it smells very different to the pepti! Pepti smells like spuds, the nutramigen smells much better to me!!)
