bryzoan glad R did ok in her big bed. Losing my evenings again has driven me demented and I don't have a busy farm or a desperate need to do stuff - I just want an hour where nobody wants anything! Hugs and Brew

Glad O had a good night lily Presumably she has got in the system because of the case you've opened?

Dixie 08.30?? toddlers screaming?? Brew that actually sounds like a good place but who on earth decided to have it so early?

izzy ?? How are you doing! Getting any sleep? Hope so.

Right, I am getting up and dressed. Last night I left the living room looking like someone had dropped a toy cluster bomb and now I wish I hadn't. I always tidy round before bed - don't really want to go downstairs to that. But had an attack of the lazies/strops last night!

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2013 07:46

S'up? Shite night in crisp towers by crisp standards. DH crashed to bed at about 1:30 banging into the baby bath seat in the bathroom - no idea how that happened as to my knowledge it was in the bath. Coincidence or no but p woke soon after and never really settled. Repeated dummy stuffs, rocking, Ewan all failed until I cracked at 5am and brought her in with us. I don't think I got much sleep but at least I got to lie flat.

Shattered now so watching the clock for nap time when we all plan to head back to bed.

That's right luis! You lucky penis wearer you and yor biological inability to hear your children cry Wink

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2013 07:56

Sounds awesome dixie! Fingers crossed it wears everyone out and you get a better night tonight.

Good job on the night in the cot bry. Sounds like things are tough though. It really is just as well babies are full of cute!

I am with you lilly. I would much rather 7-7 or thereabouts than later. Any later get up is too late surely for work or other stuff? At the moment p wakes between 6:15 and 7am and this is perfect for a working day. I also love having a proper evening. Later than 7 and I would just feel ready for going to bed myself. How are the weaning guidelines different? I am really interested in hearing different ways of doing things.

mornin all. my boys excema flares up if they are ill and if it is winter. sunshine helps massively. I was told by our doctor that if its worse in the winter but is much better in the summer then you have it under control. ds1 gets it on his legs and when we went abroad for three weeks it cleared up.

teething flared it up too.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 19/05/2013 08:42

That is all.

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2013 08:47

Thank you for the feedback about eczema. I think it might be teeth related. I was hoping it was dairy and do recall now he had it slightly before we swapped to new formula, then it got worse, and he has a tooth.

J slept 5.30 to 8. I tried to sleep on sofa. It is not designed for sleep, but I did get a bit before the kids jumped on me.

Brockle · 19/05/2013 08:57

the really crap thing about excema is that it usually flares up when their immune system is weak. so you deal with an illness and then the excema. so bloody annoying.

PurplePidjin · 19/05/2013 09:17

6 months today Shock

StuntNun · 19/05/2013 09:22

Happy half birthday baby Pidj.

Those that are worried about a potential egg allergy, you could try putting a bit of boiled egg on their skin - not on broken skin such as eczema though. You need to use both white and yolk as children can be allergic to either. If there's no reaction then proceed cautiously to them tasting a very small quantity, maybe with antihistamines to hand just in case.

7 months today. LO just ate half a piece of buttered toast. I can't believe she's nearer one than her birth.

PetiteRaleuse · 19/05/2013 10:16

QQ: your babies still go crosseyed don't they. MIL has been going on at me by FB messenger that LO has a lazy eye and I need to do something about it as it will be a real problem. Reassure me that I can Hmm and

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2013 10:27

Yes to cross eyes. It makes me lol

MissMummy1 · 19/05/2013 10:31

Happy half birthday baby pidg!

Sorry I wasnt here to join in the night chat. I was awake though Angry but have stopped using mobile and tablet in bed as was getting headachey. If it's any consolation M took forever to go down then woke up for the day at 3.30am Sad

Can I ask a QQ? Thinking ahead to gonext stage carseats. M currently rides our Megane estate in a maxicosi cabriofix with an easy fix base. I have been impressed with maxicosi and would buy another. Suggestions? There is a QQlot more choice than first time round Confused

MissMummy1 · 19/05/2013 10:32

And some bugger has put predictive text on my mobile....

BigPigLittlePig · 19/05/2013 10:32

Happy half birthday pidjchick
Det how did Operation Room Shift go?
Dixie you are a brave woman

Reflux hell today, so gaviscon has been administered, and we will be having a day off weaning. Poor mite screams the instant she is nearer to horizontal than vertical. PIL were all excited for her to try out her new highchair at theirs today, for lunch, but other than nomming on some plastic, she won't be eating.

StuntNun · 19/05/2013 10:39

MM look at the Maxi-Cosi Axiss. Iirc you have a small car, the Axiss swivels to put your child in then turns back to front facing. Bear in mind that M won't need it until nine months at the earliest and you're best to keep them rear facing until the top of their head is level with the top of the seat as it's much safer in the event of a front impact or being rear ended. Whichever seat you get make sure it's one that reclines so that when M falls asleep in the car you can tilt it back so she's more comfy.

PR squinting is normal up to three months, if she's still squinting after six months of age I would strongly recommend getting her checked out in case she needs glasses. J is getting his vision tested next month because my DS2 is very long-sighted but didn't develop a squint until he was over one so it went undiagnosed. If he had been diagnosed early and worn glasses he wouldn't have developed the squint he has now and he wouldn't have had to wear an eye patch daily for six years. Chances are your DD2 is fine but it's like the hip check - it's a relatively easy check to prevent a serious problem. Sorry that's not reassuring but I'm not sorry if it prevents someone's LO going through what DS2 has had iykwim.

D'oh didn't read thoroughly re Megane Mm. It's still a good seat though as I always find I bump my head trying to wrestle put a child into a carseat. Head down to Mothercare or similar and try some seats out in the car.

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2013 10:44

MM if you can afford an extended rear facing car seat then get one. We have Maxi Cosy Priori XP in isofix in GP car and regular in ours. It gives a very solid secure fit as there is an extra belt tightening bit. It is very comfy and roomy too. We spent ages looking. Sometimes a google will reveal an outstanding offer if you are not fussed about colour. We have another for J already but obviously will not be in it yet. Bit of a bitch to swap from car to car, but they all are. ERF is much much safer if you have the dosh and the room.

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2013 10:46

Ours is forward facing. Sorry that was not clear. We could not fit ERF in our car. Or indeed afford it.

kirrinIsland · 19/05/2013 10:47

I was going to suggest the axiss swively one! My friend has one and it's great - much easier than wrestling them into a normal one. I'm def getting one for N, and wish I'd seen it for DD1.

kirrinIsland · 19/05/2013 10:50

And yes yes to not being fussy about colour. We paid £90 for DD1's in a particularly fretting lurid pink. The black version was £150.

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2013 11:02

I looked at the axis before and I think it did not fit my car or something. Or did not recline. I know there was something that put me off as it looked great.

There are some that fit them until they are 12. I personally would not want to be using the same car seat in 12 years so think they are not so good. I think it was the evolva 123 and it was not comfy at all.

If you have a baby that vomits frequently it is worth getting a summer cover from the start as it is easier to take just that off than the whole car seat cover which never goes back on quite the same.

And remember must be 9 months and a certain weight before front facing. Not an either or option. Best leave rear facing as long as possible as safer.

And get used to locking the car doors now. Not long and these little cherubs will be potentially able to undo their harness and open a door before you can stop safely. Better to be safe than sorry.

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2013 11:11

And I would go to halfords not mother care. I have heard mothercare give very bad advice.

Halfords often do deals on the website and have things much more expensive in store. It is worth looking first and reserving one to check fit. Some places do price match and you can always try in store and order off Internet from Kiddicare or similar. You can also easily check online if a seat will fit your car. I also look on amazon and read reviews.

If pre-loved then make sure you know how old it is. They should usually be replaced after 7 years, and if in an accident obviously.

I bought a cheap one once and threw it away. My mum also wanted to use one she used from my niece who is 23 years old now. I had to be really quite firm, and bought one for her to use. It is your child so make sure you are happy with how others will transport them.

I will stop telling you how to suck eggs now. Oops.

ChasingDaisy · 19/05/2013 11:14

Morning all.

Ok ish night here last night. O woke a couple of times and just needed settling back to sleep. One feed at 2.30 and just gave a 2oz bottle then that was him until 6.40.

P did the night shift but I'm still knackered. I was supposed to be getting a few hours off today to try and rest and have some time to myself but he has gone back to bed with a headache so I'm left with O and all the housework. Want to cry but just need to carry on.

O tried avocado for breakfast which was a hit. Horsey thank you so much for that fb link. So so helpful! Especially as O has decided he is a BLW baby.
