YW, and other dairy free-ers.
If F reacts to dairy in my bm - with reflux, gut rot and eczema - I presume this is sufficient to suggest she is CMPI? So which formula would she need prescribing? It's all so very confusing. I think I'll book an appointment with the GP soon for a chat, although lord only knows what response I'll get.

MsJupiterJones · 18/05/2013 11:44

Pass there is no AA 2 which is why I wondered if the AA had enough vitamins. Paed seemed to think so which is why I was interested in what YW's paed had said.

Passmethecrisps · 18/05/2013 12:01

I see JJ! Sorry for adding to the confusion.

BP sounds kinda like it I'm afraid. Impossible to say about formula. Nutramigen comes in two forms - Lipl and AA. I think that if she is able to detect CMP in your BM then she is very sensitive therefore AA. Every time I think I understand it though I realise I don't so best to speak to your doc and ask for a referral to a dietician.

BigPigLittlePig · 18/05/2013 12:03

Sorry to harp on, but what was this Pepti shizzle people were talking about? Is that something completely different? And which ones smells of chip fat?

ValiumQueen · 18/05/2013 12:19

Pepti is a different brand. I do not know much except ok for CMPI.

Dr will likely say go on regular formula then LF then CMPI free probably, so baby will suffer repeatedly. Go to dietician first. They know more and could bypass the trial and error.

Passmethecrisps · 18/05/2013 12:20

Pepti is made by Aptimel I think. I know of one baby who started on nutramigen and went to pepti. Can't remember why. Constipation I think. Nutramigen smells not nice. Never smelt pepti

BigPigLittlePig · 18/05/2013 12:22

VQ given how she has been when I have milk, I will be lying through my teeth and saying that regular formula has been tried. And shall then use quiche wisdom to shout them down. That's the theory anyway.

Sorry for me me me, will post properly later.

TheDetective · 18/05/2013 12:27

Pepti is just a different brand.

I asked for it after extensive googling to find the most palatable one (allegedly). Still took a few days of mixing milks to get him to take it though.

Okay, so 11 wakings and 2 feeds, plus multiple failed transfers.

DP managed to wake for the first 2. I had to wake him for the other 4. And more than once... but he did get up at 7.30 with him without grumbling. Ignores fact I'd woke him 7 times over 20 minutes while O was screeching in the cot.

So we need to do something. But what? Help!!

No point going to GP or HV. Believe me, sleep issues just get laughed at. You're on your own with that one. Hmm

Tonight will be 2 weeks of his worst ever sleep. It will also been 2 weeks since he has been on the CMPI formula. 3 weeks since weaning started.

So which is it? Or is it neither? Is it regression made worse by one of the above?

Fuck me. I'm at a massive loss as to what the fuck to do, if anything.

We've decided to give no solids today, and see what he sleeps like tonight.

Passmethecrisps · 18/05/2013 12:38

I wish I had any answers det. Could you present it to the GP or HV as something other than sleep? Is O in pain? Forgive me if I am talking shit.

O has reflux, CMPI and is being weaned. It could be any of those.

I would also stop weaning. Give it a few days with no solids and see if there is any improvement.

I hate playing 'guess the cause'. It's like fucking cluedo

TheDetective · 18/05/2013 12:43

Cluedo Grin. It was the carrot, in the stomach with the acid. LMAO!

I'm just glad we have 12 days til consultant review and 13 days til dietician appointment.

I'm not sure what to even say to the GP/HV. They don't care, and don't help. I think he does wake with pain, I can't find any other reason for it. We've tried propping the cot, but it made shit all difference Hmm. Not sure what else I can do!

I'm holding on to the fact that he's always been one step forward, 2 steps back with sleep.

I just don't know what to do to get consistent sleep!

TheDetective · 18/05/2013 12:44

O had 7 feeds yesterday. He had 2 night ones, and 5 in the day. Confused.

The child was sleeping with 4-5 feeds 2 weeks ago. Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 18/05/2013 12:52

Oh! I have created a CMPi weaning thread in feed the world.

Weird, weird, weird det

PurplePidjin · 18/05/2013 13:15
Brew

Shit night here but his feeds are so short now i don't get to catch up. I'm hoping they'll fade to nothing soon but don't really believe it Hmm think I need to be stricter about dummy and staying in the cot as he sleeps better when he's settled rather than fed to sleep.

Cauliflower cheese and pasta for lunch, bit easier on the tum than fromage frais. Vdp wore him out at dad's group though so he only ate a few mouthfuls!

YellowWellies · 18/05/2013 13:33

BP what Pass said I'm afraid lovely. Sad

Det is pepti junior soy free too? I'd give him a few days off solids to rest his system. As you say GPs and HVs are by and large useless on this topic - though interestingly the paed we saw yesterday was giving a training talk to local GPs on CMPI next week (halle - fecking - lujah!!!). It sucks ass but I just call / email the paed or dietician now. Of course by having appointments looming O will follow sods law and buck up in time for them. The babies do after all love to make liars of the mummies Smile

Thanks for the thread Mrs crisps Smile

YellowWellies · 18/05/2013 13:36

Det the 6 month sleep regression is linked to a fuck off huge growth spurt. This too shall pass etc etc

Sympathies on the wankbadgering reflux cluedo. It was the fucknuggeting cow in the nursery with the screaming infant Wink

Brockle · 18/05/2013 13:38

really wish I could help but I am useless. Sad. I know Y sleeps better if he self settles at the start if the night but Y is hit and miss with that.

I just spent last three hours on a pitch watching Zak play and then Moody. Y was brilliant but still had to feed in car which I hate. I am just starting to get feeling back in toes. this is my Saturday morning for the next ten years I reckon. why don't they do ballet and chess club?

ValiumQueen · 18/05/2013 13:40

Detective The new formula is extremely unlikely to be causing problems. It is more likely to be solids or sleep regression or a combination with a bit of teething thrown in for good measure. Keep a detailed diary, and observe closely for signs of discomfort.

YellowWellies · 18/05/2013 13:48

VQ hope the wee man is much better today here have Brew

ChasingDaisy · 18/05/2013 13:55

Wow you lot have been chatty today! Will catch up when I get a chance but forgive me for asking a quick question:

O has eczema and a family history of asthma and allergies, including food allergies. Am I ok to introduce wheat and dairy at 6 months or do I need to wait longer?

Dixiebell · 18/05/2013 14:39

Brockle, with two boys here I think you are describing my future too! Was hoping to get ds1 into gymnastics and swimming...at least the spectating is indoors!

Sorry to hear of everyone's sleep/eat problems. Ted is not sleeping through but I am at least thankful that he goes back down fairly easily after a feed. Also we've only had baby rice and pear puree so far but I'm remembering how nice it is to feed a baby who enjoys and gets excited about his meals - ds1 was like that until about a year old when he began to morph into the fussiest eater in the history of everything. I almost feel like teddy is a second chance to redeem myself and hope that ds1 might actually become more flexible with his eating if he sees Teddy eating proper food, not just bloody chicken nuggets and sausages.

Kiddicare was great. Was a bit stressful trying to try out buggies and carseats with a crying 6-month-old who wanted feeding/to be asleep, and a manic two-year-old who was running down the aisles with a kids' trolley/screaming for more cake and refusing to eat his sandwiches and fruit. However, we managed it, got a new Maxi-cosi carseat which ds1 can use until Teddy is big enough to go in it, and a 35 quid stroller to take on hols which reclines for Ted to sleep in. And a load of other shit. Love the large cafe, and the baby changing and twin toilets so mummy and toddler can pee at the same time!

Dixiebell · 18/05/2013 14:43

Oh, meant to say bow-leg thing is rubbish. Ds1's legs are fine and he was bearing his weight v early. I have a photo of him at 9 weeks standing in his cot, with just my hand to stop him keeling backwards.

Also, on vitamin drops for bf babies, do I just buy them from the chemist?

ValiumQueen · 18/05/2013 15:17

Dixie you could get them on prescription. Love the twin toilets Grin

J is up and down. Poor little sausage woke coughing and is sore and tired. He burrowed to my boob and was so chuffed, then did not know what to do with it, but it seemed to comfort him. Have given skin to skin a couple of times when nothing seems to sooth him.

Have not given ranitidine today as twice yesterday he threw up just after having it. Just giving gaviscon. Not sure if I have made the right decision but he does not seem any worse for it. I will be demanding omeprazole is it? I need something that works without giving side effects that are worse than the sodding reflux.

I am fed up of this game. And I am bleeding like a stuck pig.

TheDetective · 18/05/2013 15:23

Can we have a group hug please?!

Bloody dead on my feet here. O is asleep, but I can never 'sleep when the baby does' as he wakes and needs rocking back to sleep. So how does one sleep when being woke up every 20 minutes then?!

Am going to start that diary. And write every fucking thing down!

YW If I had the energy to move off my ass and go in the kitchen and look, I would! I'll google the answer instead...!

Kyzordz · 18/05/2013 15:28

It might take more than a day without solids to see any difference detective but I hope you find the cause for it soon! I really hate guessing games too

hid some parsnip in sweet potato puree today with success! He didn't want his yoghurt and got pissy with his toast. I think it's because he can't bite bits off easily so tries to stuff a load in his mouth resulting in me having to fish it out. He really can't eat a whole soldier at once!

TheDetective · 18/05/2013 15:36

I had a look - can't tell. Didn't see soy in the ingredients, but loads of other stuff I have no idea what it is!

I googled, and couldn't find the answer.
