I know how you feel as this period of crap sleep has been the worst to deal with mentally. He has never slept well but I was seeing small signs of improvement. I thought by almost 6 months he would be sleeping a hell of a lot better than this. Really doubting everything I'm doing now as it just feels like I'm getting it all wrong.

Pikz · 17/05/2013 21:17

PR is she ok with baby jail? I need to put ours up.

Det slap him with quiche fish!!!

O and O now be nice to your mummy's

Kyz the book I'm reading says you can do both and it's the balanced approach! It makes me feel like their is a plan to my highly piggy mess. Baby sweet corn and rice cakes a success today. Also butternut and leek purée which smelled lush!

Kyzordz · 17/05/2013 21:18

Lots of posts when I wrote mine again! det get him to pull his finger out, if you're both at home things should be split more evenly imo

Pikz · 17/05/2013 21:19

Chasing you are not. Just like some adults sleep well and some don't babies are all individuals. They will get there. As long as you have a good bedtime routine to give them triggers they will get there.

Kyzordz · 17/05/2013 21:23

chasing you're not doing anything wrong and o will get there, hopefully soon, for both o's actually

pikz is it the weaning made easy book? I ordered that too but its not here yet Blush

what rice cakes are good pikz? Do you spread anything on them? And do you give them whole? Sorry for all the questions!

Pikz · 17/05/2013 21:25

Kzy ask away... It is that book, I liked it as it made me feel I could do both and how to manage it.

I bought hipp baby rice cakes. I have them plain and they are little so he sucks and gums them til they crumble.

Pikz · 17/05/2013 21:26

Oh and YW, det, pass and all others they are milk free an lactose free and egg and dairy free!

BigPigLittlePig · 17/05/2013 21:33

Sounds good pikz

Most meals, I give F some puree, then whilst I eat, she has some finger food to get her chops around - broccoli, banana, toast, whatever. Seems to work quite well and keeps her quiet whilst I eat

Det

Brockle · 17/05/2013 21:34

good, thanks pikz . Clubbing would fill me with dread right now.

still one wake up a night, most of the time but he is resisting his bedtime routine. actually he sleeps if he gets to sit with me and ds1 when I read ds1 his bedtime story. he obviously prefers the chronicles of narnia to That's not my Lion Smile

Y has had a bug this week and went completely off food so looking to get back I. the saddle with weaning.

big hugs to everyone who needs them. trying to catch up with thread.

flights are booked for our trip. still have to get up at 2am for a drive to heathrow with three kids but should be ok. or am I kidding myself?

TheDetective · 17/05/2013 21:37

DP is sulking as he's read my thread that I linked to him about his lack of waking Hmm.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/05/2013 21:40

Baby jail rocks. She has been using it for months already. All her toys are in there and she can see us. And it is a safe place. No animals, no toddler. If she is in there I can cook, iron, clean, shower or go to the loo without worrying about her being walked on, kicked, or her rolling into cat vom Hmm

pass sorry must have misunderstood, didn't get what you meant

LO had beef and potato mashed up this evening with a bit of cooked tomato. Obviously the beef and potato was cooked too. She liked. A lot. Her biggest meal to date! Definitely a carnivore like her mum

BigPigLittlePig · 17/05/2013 21:41

When dh is sulking, I call him Sue. As in, Sulky Susan. That winds him right up.

LuisGarcia · 17/05/2013 21:52

Pikz One knee is better, one is worse. Thanks for asking.

Kids are asleep (in their beds!!). MrsG is out at a work do. IL's are here for dinner tomorrow and Sunday. Am prepping dinners with a glass of wine and the radio on. The thought of going clubbing gives me chills. But I hope you have fun!

kirrinIsland · 17/05/2013 21:54

Congrats to sophia's DH :)

Sympathies to those who had horrendous nights. Hope you managed ok at work Madame

YW I also spend night feeds going over past arguments and gripes; and I am great at coming up with brilliant comebacks years after the event.

PR love the airport cafe idea. DD1 would love that :)

50 hours bplp ? Shock

detective tell me you're joking about not getting hot coffee or loo breaks with the NHS? I start work for them on monday!!!

pikz I haven't been to a nightclub in over 10 years. I hate them. Give me a quiet country pub any day.

Good news on E's weight gain Eliza and on DD1's nursery place. Less good about the car, but it's only metal.

Why is he sulking detective ? he should be leaping up and cleaning the house while apologising profusely.

Also detective - was it you who was saying O slept well in the pram but woke in the cot? N does the same. It's so infuriating. DP has her in the pram when he does the night shift and she sleeps much better, only waking once or twice. And when I was at my Dads last week she started the night In the pram and I planned to switch her into the cot when she woke at 11ish. Only she didn't. She slept til 2ish. And then woke frequently after I'd put her into the cot. The tempatation to just let her sleep in the pram is overwhelming but it's not good for her so I can't. I have been trying to think how to make the cot more pram like but I don't really know what it is she likes about it.

I left N with DP this afternoon while DD1 was at nursery and went shopping. I was supposed to be buying work clothes, but I didn't have much luck with that. I bought plenty of other stuff though. And I had a quiet coffee. In peace. T'was lovely!

Brockle · 17/05/2013 21:54

I never used a playpen with the other 2 PR but not sure how I will cope with a crawler and two boisterous boys whilst I am cooking etc. it sounds tempting.

Y is 24 weeks but is officially 6 months on Wednesday. I can feed him toast now and don't have to wait until Wednesday? its the only food he is interested in too much like his mother who lives on the stuff

BigPigLittlePig · 17/05/2013 21:54

Luis your evening sounds lovely! Glad the knees are better.

Off to bed, night all and good luck

BigPigLittlePig · 17/05/2013 21:56
Brockle · 17/05/2013 21:59

why is your DP sulking detective ? he isn't cutting it and you are publicising that. he needs to pull his socks up. I have to wake DH for ds1 and 2 as he has resp for them as I bf Y. he has got pretty good at waking after a nudge or two but it has taken some practiceGrin

kirrinIsland · 17/05/2013 21:59

Jeez, epic post. Sorry Blush

We also have a baby jail. For the same reasons as PR - dogs and over enthusiastic toddlers. It's very handy and N doesn't seem to mind it mostly

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/05/2013 22:05

kyz I use the same rice cakes as pikz E loves nomming on them. I do the same as bplp at meal times. I give E some form of finger food to munch on and I give her some puree in between. Enables me to eat dinner inbetween spoon feeding E.

Detective Jesus. Don't you get cabin fever? I need to go out everyday! Mind you it's mainly to take DD1 out as she drives me insane if she's at home all day. In my previous childfree life I could have quite happily stayed on the sofa all day.

I'm going on 2 hen weekends this year. First one is to brighton in 2 weeks time. I have no bloody idea what to wear (although I hear it's some form of fancy dress on Saturday night so solves that dilemma) shudders Bit of a shame as I was actually looking forward to wearing a nice dress as I never get a chance these days. We will be going to a cheesy club. Cheese I can do, not a poncy club. I love a bit of a boogie.

TheDetective · 17/05/2013 22:09

He's now stopped sulking after I cried and is going to buy a vibrating baby monitor which is for hearing imparied people. Hmm

We have a baby jail for my paranoid mind. O can already get to places he shouldn't. Found him under the side table chewing happily on the laptop charger earlier. I only went to the kitchen and poured a drink.

At the minute, baby jail is in the shed. It's a babydan one, which you can use as a room divider too. Suspect it will get good use!

kirrin I think I know what it is that he likes about the pram. It isn't comfort - his mattress is highly comfy tested that one out last week!. It is the fact he is snug and cocooned in. I'm the same, not wanting him sleeping in it. But the way he is sleeping now isn't safe either, so I don't know what to do! He's in the moses basket snuggled between a vshape pillow. Not ideal at all. :( I've got him back in to the cot tonight, but we are already on wake up 3. Not sure how long it will last.

As for the NHS. Depends where you are working! Over worked and underpaid a lot of us are! The wards are where you don't get chance to breathe let alone pee in peace!

LuisGarcia · 17/05/2013 22:09

BPLP I'm in absolute90s cooking heaven. Grin

TheDetective · 17/05/2013 22:11

It's been 3 weeks now. Yes, I get bored and fed up. But getting out the house when I'm already tired just puts me off. DP is here so it's not like I'm alone.

I've done the school run but not many times. And not bothered dressing for it either. Not getting out the car, so not much point.

I know it's just the sleep issues making me feel this way. I'm a much better mum when I've had some sleep.

TheDetective · 17/05/2013 22:12
LuisGarcia · 17/05/2013 22:15

You are not losing your mind, it's just the sleep thing. It gets better. And soon.

My lovely neighbour took one look at me the the other day and gave me a hug and said that. I thought it was worth passing on
