Thanks VQ, JJ, BPLP and chasing for your weaning responses. She loves being given bits to chew on, it was a fab way of keeping her quiet at meal times on holiday. I did want to wait until 26 weeks which is a week on Friday but she seems ready.
She?s similar to what you mentioned JJ and Chasing in that she chews and sucks quite happily on melon or pineapple or cauliflower but if she chomps a bit off and it goes to the back of her throat she doesn?t always like it and so it ends up spat out. I was worrying this was the tongue thrust reflex and that meant she wasn?t ready, but surely she needs to learn to swallow it and get used to it being in her mouth rather than just knowing straight away to swallow? She must have swallowed some on holiday because we found a watermelon seed in her nappy (the thin white ones, I?d picked out the black ones but obviously missed that one).

I?ve frozen some purees but when I tried to give her anything mashed on holiday for a little taste she wasn?t happy and she just wants to feed herself. I might try her on a cube of something at lunchtime.

Cacacaz She did love the sun! We tried to keep her in the shade as much as possible but she loved being outside all the time and watching the waves on the beach got her really excited Grin

The hotel had lots of families an she loved watching all the children play and taking in the sights when we went for walks, her holiday pram is forward facing and she seems to really like that.

I think I need a slap with the quiche fish today, having a bit of a wobble. I need to catch up on the thread though before I post anymore moaning, feel a bit rude otherwise.

I tried my bravissimo bra on again, I think I might post a thread in S&B asking for advice from the bra experts.

Oh one more QQ ? with detective?s talk of POAS, has anyone still not DTD post-baby or is everyone back on the horse regularly? Smile

ValiumQueen · 14/05/2013 12:10

MM cannot find that one. Linkey pleeeease Smile I am not seriously considering moving there, just being nosy. I have been looking at what £250K gets you near Inverness. Yummy indeed.

ValiumQueen · 14/05/2013 12:12

I am on the horse occasionally, when I have the energy fatima Having had my tubes tied is very liberating, but having a baby wot don't sleep ain't Grin

Thechick · 14/05/2013 12:20

Hey there. Sorry for the quick post. We have teeth, but i'm getting bitten and H isn't very well at the mo so is wanting the boob lots. Any tried and tested ideas to save my poor nipples.

MissMummy1 · 14/05/2013 12:23

Would need everything replaced!

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 12:24

fatima there is very little action in the crisp household. Never fear.

JJ I was not going to be any more cautious than anyone else TBH. The dietician didn't mention anything to avoid beyond the standard NHS list. All babies will be different and have different levels f tolerances.

Mm you can forgive anything that allows for new shoes. I once fell so in love with a dress that I was planning to source it from Russia. Thankfully 1 existed in a shop in Nice where my SIL has an apartment. Said dress was purchased in wrong size but tailored to fit. I am not really that type of person but sometimes something just works. I think the colour you describe sounds lovely actually. I would be more inclined to go for that one anyway. Could you add splashes of colour in with accessories?

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 12:25

Sorry chick. No ideas. Nipple shields?

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 12:27

Is that a satellite dish on the roof of the shed MM? Lovey house from the outside. Bags of potential.

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 12:30

cacacaz I offered one cube for brekkie yesterday then another at lunch. She is eating nowhere near a whole cube but I just thought it was good fun so we would give it a go again. I will offer her one cube again today. I will up it to two when she actually looks like she is eating any!

ComradeJing · 14/05/2013 12:35

Seriously! How quick is this thread STILL??

Fatima Back on horse but not very regularly. DH would love it to be more regularly but I'm touched out from the little ones and have no sex drive frankly. Was the same with DD until I stopped breastfeeding.

chick I'm worried about the same thing as planning to bf for longer with DS than I did with DD. No idea but watching with interest.

Everyone has sick snuffles here. Missed DDs ballet class today and going to miss DDs and DSs first swimming lessons tomorrow. Planning on going to get my new double tomorrow and down to MB Duet, P&T Navigator or icandy peach blossom 2. Leaning towards Duet. Any thoughts (I know I'm a pram bore but I'm massively worried about choosing the wrong pram again and it being an expensive mistake)?

MissMummy1 · 14/05/2013 12:36

I am not usually that sort either pass. I would wear jeans if I thought I would get away with it Blush

MsJupiterJones · 14/05/2013 12:55

MM those houses are lovely. Makes me Sad about London house prices. We'd love to buy our house but even if we manage to save the deposit I think we'd never get the mortgage. Sounds like NI could be a lovely move for you but I can understand the trepidation.

Re. Allergies/weaning, the allergy dr we spoke to said at the moment opinion is divided as to whether delaying or speeding up weaning (particular wrt allergens) is likely to avoid/exacerbate allergies. There is a big research project being done at the moment, not much help to us though.

Fatima I am a bit Blush and Sad that we are not on the horse. We tried but it hurt. As I had a CS I'm not sure why. I also had some flashbacks to the day L was born when the consultant was very unpleasant while doing an examination. I am a bit worried that these things are linked but I'm putting off doing anything about it. Might try again after L moves to his own room (and have a couple of Wine) to see if I can be more relaxed about it.

BigPigLittlePig · 14/05/2013 13:00

The stable door was opened briefly, once. But the horse has yet to be ridden properly.

Sleep deprivation, bf and broken fanjo are all conspiring against my sex drive. Poor dh Sad. Am hoping a bit of artifical oestrogen up ones fanjo might help. There must be some useful side effects to having to stick a pessary up every other day? Mustn't there?

GTbaby · 14/05/2013 13:19

No horsy riding hereSad obviously we conceived. N that was that last time. Confused We tried 2 weeks ago however im very swollen now n it hurt so we gave up.
N now with SPD we have no hope.

ChasingDaisy · 14/05/2013 13:20

No horse riding going on here. Not likely to happen any time soon.

Parents have been and gone. O screamed at them. A lot. Their tolerance for it seems to be wearing thing. They seem to think I indulge him too much. The only time he was really happy was sat in his highchair nomming courgette Smile. I think he actually ate a fair amount of it today. He's really getting the hang of it. I am proud.

Going to introduce breakfast on Thursday.

Tomorrow is a big milestone for me and O....am going to take him on the bus by myself for the first time. Yep, its only taken me 5 months. I have a doctors appointment to review my antidepressants so going to pop to down with him after and have a coffee and cake Smile

Jealous of house buying talk. I owned a house with my ex but cant ever see me being in the position to buy again. I hate renting and would love the security of my own home. I want to have a family home that O can have memories of as he gets older, not a succession of rental properties.

MissMummy1 · 14/05/2013 13:20

We are the same here JJ - I LOVE our house, it's location is perfect and (if we changed the carpet) I would be happy here forever! However, it was recently valued and the figure they came back with was frightening. We will be renting forever of we stay put Sad

Thechick · 14/05/2013 13:21

I take him off when he bites me, and give him a teething toy but I'm still getting bitten.

ChasingDaisy · 14/05/2013 13:24

Shock and Envy at NI house prices!

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 13:37

I know chasing. It's amazing isn't it? I would love a bigger house but we are very, very lucky as it is having what we do. No complaining.

P's appointment at the paediatrician was very interesting. He reckons her reflux is not anything like as well managed as we all thought and her reluctance to eat is not an association issue but a pain issue. He has prescribed ompazole and upped the domperidone. He agreed that being discharged from hospital with no long term plan was not great but that he would manage her care from this point on.

Five minutes in the door and he had asked me if I worked in the medical profession - apparently I showed an unusual level of comprehension of the terminology. I was Blush and wanted to say "no, I am just a member of the quiche"

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 13:40

Oh and when he mentioned omeprazole I asked how it would be prescribed - tablets or syrup? He laughed, shook his head and said "I KNEW you would ask that!"

horseylady · 14/05/2013 13:47

Interesting pass

Nice houses mm do your in laws live there? We've been looking at what's round here. I want to buy a house we can rent to students. Dh wants a bungalow. But they cost more and yield less. But not so much turnover....mmmmm...

luis you can run again. Get yourself some Physio, get some gait analysis and custom made trainers and you should notice an improvement to the collateral ligaments.

vq glad you had better sleep.

Today I have been walking and dealing with a broken boiler in one of the properties. How the engineer can come out, knowing the EXACT problem and not have the right part is beyond me?! Anyway.
