Well we've moved from 3 naps down to 2 - and after being up for 4 hours for the last stretch of the day, it only took 30 minutes for the bear to drain a boob and be cuddled to sleep with a big smile on his face and his hands indulgently dangling above his head. I think he approves of the new routine! Such an improvement on recent 1.5 hours of feeding, settling, loris / owlish stares, flipping instantly from untired to overtired. 2 naps it is then Smile I like it when you take a chance, try something new and it works. He seems to love his new room too Smile

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 20:32

eliza I'm crap at keeping up with this thread- I hope your week wasn't too bad? Wine all the same x

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2013 20:33

Holy shit katie! That sounds horrendous. Scammers are very much more sophisticated than they used to be and, as an academic it is possible she has been targeted specifically. My DH was telling me about a scam which is targeted towards foreign students studying in the UK. It is a fake conference aimed at students who speak English as their second language. All looks very legit with claims of being highly daughter after within academia. You need to pay a deposit though. The doctoral students who fitted the criteria were specifically targeted by name.

Anyway, I hope she is ok. I would think the embarassment will be worse in many ways than the loss of cash. I totally understand your feelings of worry and anger. Get yourself some dinner and try to take it easy.

kyz poor E. that sounds awful. Poor you as well. As though you need anything else to cope with.

BP DH is easily bought by providing him with craft lagers and the promise of a stroke of pussypig

BigPigLittlePig · 12/05/2013 20:35

YW I think F has dropped a nap too. Today she had 2 hours in the morning, and 1 hr in the afternoon. Bedtime has been about a million times easier. Plus it only took 5 minutes to settle for her daytime naps. It makes me think that all this week when it's taken 25 minutes to settle her, perjaps it's because she doesn't want to.

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 20:38

det thanks hon. Looks like she'll get the debit accounts ok and savings protected but cash is gone. It's a known scam in the area. Apparently she's rampaging angry at the moment which sounds healthy

Weaning wise (I think that's where I picked up from) I've scaled back to just fruit for a few days and even puréed a few things. She's finally going after some fairly yelly strains! I'll slowly build her back up again. Shane as she loves food so far but I'm worried her poor tummy can cope yet! Still, she's for the hang of the spoon at las and is stuffing in a preloaded one before flinging it back at me like 'more!'

Also not quite sitting but getting there

We also dropped down to 2 naps. She never sleeps anyway....

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 20:39

bplp that's exactly what happened here with naps. The fight just vanished when I dropped one

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 20:40

Ish

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2013 20:40

DH has just very proudly produced a mini beef dinner for P in the roasting dish he got for his birthday. Ok, it's just the beef but he did stand there braising 4 bits of beef very happily.

New routine sounds guid *YW. P usually sleeps until 3ish then is up until 7. This usually works ok depending on what shiz has been happening. Sounds like he liked it though. Are the velux blinds the dog's bollox?

BigPigLittlePig · 12/05/2013 20:41

Pass pussypig??! You are welcome to borrow him to fulfil promises to dh Wink

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2013 20:43

Isn't it brill when they can lead the way? P has three naps but they are usually 45 minutes each. She has been relearning self-settling as well which is fab.

Our teeny babies are little peoples

YellowWellies · 12/05/2013 20:44

BPLP my thoughts exactly! I thought if he were tired it wouldn't be so hard to get him to sleep at night. He's still napping for 2+ hours and going 12-13 hours at night so I'm happy with that. I think we get so used to old habits its easy to forget that they're changing and what once suited them might not work anymore. I think if I tried to swaddle him now and / or let him nap every 90 minutes he'd go batshit. It's funny how quick they change / adapt to change Smile

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2013 20:45

Just a wee stroke of pussy keeps him very happy!

ChasingDaisy · 12/05/2013 20:48

How is F today?

I love kids' birthday parties. I have wonderful memories of mine as a child and of choosing which design of birthday cake I was going to have that year. I can't wait until I can throw parties for O. I have already started planning his first birthday Blush

Detective O2 said he will eat his namesake's spare broccoli. He luffs it. Not as a puree though. Oh no. He likes to hold the little trees and smush them everywhere.

YW I was wondering when O might start dropping a nap, or indeed be able to stay awake longer than 90 minutes as it is fairly restrictive. At the moment he has two 30-45 min naps in the morning followed by 2-3 hours starting at 1. So all of our days activities have to be scheduled in the morning. When he wakes at 3/4pm he can sometimes last until his 7pm bedtime but often needs a 5:30pm catnap.

Kyz how are you and E today?

fruitpastilles · 12/05/2013 20:50

Oh my god katie that's terrible! At least she will be able to get some back though.

Had a lovely afternoon with my cousin, she took loooooads of photos of S with many outfit changes, S was good as gold and hardly whinged, can't wait to see them.

YellowWellies · 12/05/2013 20:50

Pass the velux blinds is da shizzle innit Grin the bear likes a dark cave (though I'm leaving one of the two slightly open as I don't want him only able to sleep in the pitch black)

DH has suggested a family trip away for a long weekend - somewhere in Scotland. Am thinking nature, walking, good food, maybe some fishing for DH. I fancied Arran - but any other suggestions?

Oh and after a lovely day out in Stirlingshire - haggis quiche shall we set a date for the Stirling meet?

fruitpastilles · 12/05/2013 20:51

pass GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin just cracked up reading of stroking pussypig

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 20:53

Good grief YW you got the sleeping upgrade on your version. Wow.

(Looks at baby on chest after 3rd resettle of night)

BigPigLittlePig · 12/05/2013 20:59

Katie Brew - would you like to join our sofa-dweller-club?

KatieLily12 · 12/05/2013 21:07

Oooooo is it like the movie Danny Boyle made about being trapped for hours and having to saw a limb to get out? Except its not in Australia. Or under a rock.

Instead it's under a chubby baby but you still might die from starvation?

Then, yes ;)

StuntNun · 12/05/2013 21:08

J had his first taste of strawberries today and nommed them mightily! I think he liked the taste but not the texture. Reaching six months has made a big difference to his eating: toast went down a storm on Thursday, straws today (and a wee taste of pork when DH wasn't looking) and I'm sure he's going to like yoghurt on Wednesday. Maybe he knew we were keeping all the fun foods from him before.

OP posts:
BigPigLittlePig · 12/05/2013 21:12

Katie there's been no reported loss of limbs, although the weight of a chubby baby could compromise blood supply if pinned for long enough.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/05/2013 21:13

katie that Is heartbreaking. It just shows though how clever these shits are, anyone can be taken in.

ChasingDaisy · 12/05/2013 21:14

Although Katie after 3 hours pinned under sleepy baby I have considered sawing an arm off before. And have tested my pelvic floor strength to the max.

ChasingDaisy · 12/05/2013 21:17

QQ. How would you serve courgette as a finger food? Steam/boil or roast?
