Hope you feel better soon WLThanks

Nutella i'm abit thick but whats the elimination thing?

ISpyPlumPie · 27/05/2013 11:55

Could well just be one of those things which passes almost as quickly as it started Spotty .

Meant to say earlier Hales IME birth was definitely easier second time round. I didn't have a particularly bad time with DS1 in the grand scheme of things, but the second stage was hard work (I remember telling the mw I knew why it was called labour now). With N, the second stage consisted of literally three pushes - waters, head and body. Makes me think a third would just fall out, but then I've heard third labours can be a bit random - not likely to find out though, as almost sure we're done.

ISpyPlumPie · 27/05/2013 11:57

Get well soon WL Thanks.

Stacks · 27/05/2013 12:15

T is down for another nap so I can catch up a bit better.

Spotty not sure what the reasons could be for the bed wetting. I've heard it's important not to go backwards though - so don't go back to nappies. . I hope DS gets back to sleeping soon.

WL poor you! Feel better soon. Can your DH take the next couple of days off if you're not feeling better tomorrow? Of course you'll be much better than, fx.

Nutella the elimination thing always seems a bit, errm, hard core. Takes lots of time and accidents right? We had a poosplosion this morning - T was in his nappy longer than usual overnight, then pooed in it first thing. Didn't have a hope of containing it really. Just 2 days worth of poo, so a two wipe nappy (I'm getting good at economising on wipes now, and reusable wipes are really good at getting it all).

Hales morning snuggles and sleep are amazing when you can get them. Hope you enjoyed it :)

T is still in our room, and will be till he's sleeping better. DH wants him out soon, but it's easier for him to say and hard for me to do. Seeing as he wants his wife back it's pointless moving DS through if it means I end up sleeping in the nursery with him.

I'd like at least one more baby. I kind of miss being pregnant, and really want to experience labour and a normal delivery if I can. We'll not start trying till T is around 18 months I think (though I might convince DH to try sooner, if T isn't too much hard work by then). I'm not young though, 32 soon, so if I want more than one more we'll need a small gap between the next two..

halestone · 27/05/2013 12:22

Thank you everyone for your 2nd birth stories, i just have to convince DP now haha. Seriously though i think in a couple of years it will happen. Just need to make some grown up decisions now, like sorting my dad out, moving DP in either here or us close by.

H is very cuddly today, she keeps throwing herself at me its super cute. And she has just started sharing her toys with me especially her toothbrush it goes into her mouth, then she puts it in mine and back and forth all day xxx

WLmum · 27/05/2013 12:54

I'm lucky that's he's off today and girls are being v good. I hate being ill and am a terrible patient so I WILL be better tomorrow.
stacks I was 36 when T was born and don't think I was classed as overly old although obviously the closer you get to 40 the trickier things can become.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/05/2013 12:57

Hope you feel better soon WL, glad your DP is letting you get some rest.

Grin At the kisses Hales! I've got a lovely huggy baby today too. He's so smiley and cute I've almost forgotten the hours he kept us up last nightConfused

We'll be trying again at the same sort of time as you Stacks. I need to go back to work and start earning again before we go for another one. I'm hoping for an easier 2nd labour, nothing bad happened but it was 38hours from start to finish and over an hour pushing. I was bloody knackered!

FriendofDorothy · 27/05/2013 13:09

I am 37 now and we have started trying for number 2. I have no time to waste as it took 2 years to get pregnant with the first one.

WLmum · 27/05/2013 14:29

fod we did the foresight programme with dd1&2. After ttc for about 18 months we started the programme (basically super healthy living with vitamin and mineral supplements 'prescribed' following hair analysis). Got pg 4 months later. Had mc after dd1 so did the programme again, pg after 6 months. Had mmc after dd2 but were still deciding whether to actively go for no3 when got pg with T. Might be worth checking them out. They were super lovely and gave me hope at a time when I was very sad.

WLmum · 27/05/2013 14:34

hales that's lovely. Is H sitting now?

halestone · 27/05/2013 15:23

WL yes she sits up by herself unaided and corrects herself if she starts to topple, well until she can't be bothered sitting anymore haha.

Good luck FoD. I have my FX for you.

Willyou its lovely isn't it? Really makes you forget the bad times Grin

Stacks · 27/05/2013 15:34

Oops, sorry. I didn't mean to imply others were too old! We had trouble conceiving T and had IVF mentioned more than once - the cut off for which would have been 35 with a 2 year waiting list. I guess I've just not corrected my way of thinking.

I've only got one working tube, and probably had a slightly blocked 2nd tube (which was cleared by a HSG 2 months before conceiving T) so hopefully pg quicker and easier next time. I've been told a couple of times you're much more fertile within 2 years of having a baby, anyone else heard this?

Stacks · 27/05/2013 15:38

Good luck FoD! I've considered trying sooner and having a smaller age gap, but I just don't k know how demanding T is going to get... or if he'll ever sleep! He's amazing contraception though - I'm knackered all the time, there's no sex with him in the bed with us, and no period from bf (which I'm really enjoying, I hate having my period).

FriendofDorothy · 27/05/2013 15:39

Stacks we got pregnant the month after having a HSG. We also had one round of Clomid.

I'll never know what made the difference. I hope next time will be easier but i am naturally pessimistic!

WLmum · 27/05/2013 15:59

stacks I don't think you implied others were too old! Babies sure are good contraception! I don't know about the increased fertility but I did get pg quickly after dd1&2 but sadly lost them. After dd2 it was the first week of resuming relations that I conceived! Would have been a gap of about 14 months which I was thrilled about but it wasn't to be. There's a 2.5 year age gap between dd2&3 which has worked out well too.
I'm laying here feeling dreadful but looking at T napping in her cot and hearing DH playing with dd1&2 in the garden and counting my blessings.

IsThatTrue · 27/05/2013 16:13

8th feed since 11 Hmm

Sorry to hear of bad nights.

Good luck ttc FoD if we have another it won't be for 5yrs as I can't have 2 at home while working. But thankfully I'll only be 30 then so shouldn't be a problem although dd will be 13 and probably puke at the idea of me having a baby, because she'll know how it got there Grin

WLmum · 27/05/2013 16:35

Goodness isthat that's a hungry boy! Maybe he's filling up so he can go longer at night!?!?!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/05/2013 16:37

Sorry you're feeling poorly WL hope you've had some rest Smile

Wow Envy of all you trying for more babies I don't think we will have anymore though....

Ds happily sucked a bit of apple today Smile he was really grumpy about half an hour after a feed so I have him some parsnip and carrot then a yoghurt and he ate it all and has been really happy since. Praying for a better night tonight I'm sooo tired

itsMYNutella · 27/05/2013 17:04

hales from what I understand elimination communication is basically holding your baby (I believe you can start at birth Confused ) on a potty and getting them used to the idea of going in there instead of in their nappy. stacks is right, it is a bit hardcore and it isn't really something I'm planning on doing. Just that today and last week DS has managed a very impressive amount of poo he must be completely empty after his efforts this morning when I was changing his nappy instead of simply in the nappy.

stacks I'm waiting for my washable wipes to be delivered - I hear lots of good things about them. But this morning I felt like I was keeping baby wipe manufacturers in business singlehanded. Honestly I cleaned him up thought " gosh that was a lot of poo" and then he managed some more... About three times!

In regard to the next baby attempts DS is great contraception - we are simply too tired at the moment. But I would like an 18 month to 2 year age gap so that the baby stuff is out of the way and the kids (hopefully) play together.

IsThatTrue · 27/05/2013 18:52

Here's hoping WL 3 more feeds since and will feed to sleep in 10 mins. Hmm so 12 feeds and 2 meals since 11am. This boy best sleep.

Wow spotty that's a lot of food, we only manage about a tbsp.

WLmum · 27/05/2013 18:52

Yep I find baby wipes are a lot smearier than reusable wipes!
Think DH will have a new found respect for the order I usually maintain around here after today! In fairness he's got on with looking after them without any complaint even if there's been some chaos and tantrums at times.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/05/2013 18:59

He's got a sweet tooth it seems Blush I'm not panicking too much though before I know it he will be pre school age and I'll be saying 'that's your dinner it's that or a slice of bread' Grin

WL hopefully he will realise how tough it is, if it was dp he would just say 'well I managed it fine [for three hours]' Hmm

utopian99 · 27/05/2013 20:02

So... ds is only 5 months (today! ) but 17.5lbs and I am hoping that a move to a group 1 car seat will sort out the anger he has for the current maxi cosi. We're going to move him into a proper forward facing seat therefore as soon as he hits 20lb..

What is the best to go for? All votes please, either what you're planning on, or those with bigger dcs what do you use? There are too many good reviews of things for me to decide between maxi cosi/britax/besafe - main contenders for now.

WLmum · 27/05/2013 20:09

We have had maxi cosi all the way and have always been very happy with them. Although I share your pain about the car seat rage, I asked in mothercare recently about whether to move T up as she'll hit the weight before the age and sitting ability recommended, they said babies are 5x safer in rear facing seats and to keep her in the stage 0 until her head is taller than the back of the seat. Tbh I trust them a lot so that's what I'll be doing. Going to hang a mirror down the back seat so that T can at least see herself and see if that helps her to feel more secure. If not, I'll try her in the front although still not ideal.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/05/2013 20:12

We have a maxi cosi too (tobi). Have you seen the fun mirrors you can buy? If you look an amazon at car seat toys or something?
