Infrequent poster alert.
Im debating putting DS in childcare 2 days a week until I return to work.

I am struggling. DH thinks this is the way forward.

It truly pisses me off. I spend my life believing im an earth mother. I have kids and crumble.....

PurplePidjin · 08/05/2013 13:09

good luck, MaMa :)

I also have a poo machine - seriously, it was like one of those playdoh jobbies where you turn the handle. Or a pasta machine but round. Thank fuck for nappy liners and having had the presence of mind to start using them this morning! Poor lad screamed, must be such a weird sensation and it was probably the entire length of his colon Shock I'll get him down for his nap now then have a cup of sweet tea for the shock!

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:09

Mamapo you are brave going to be fine - I'm ever cautious and would whack a few spare nappies just in case. I'm sure you have plenty but the bad luck fairy seems to shit on me in these circumstances. Always best to be overprepared.

Another household plagued by disease. Snotty noses ahoy, and that's just me. BUT for all that, F slept 9.30-2.30-4.45-7, only feeding at 2.30, so maybe things are on the up at last. About bloody time.

Kyz F is having very runny purees at the moment, she's just not ready for anything thicker. She grabs the spoon, blows a raspberry into whatevers on it, then slurps it off. Then noms the spoon a bit. Repeat until all food is gone.

Erm. Brain is mushy so can't remember what else I wanted to say.

My task this afternoon is to lure the cat back inside then into his cage for a trip to his fave place. Hope the vet has got her cat-claw-proof clothes on today.

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:10

Pidj sorry I shouldnt' laugh, but I couldn't help it. Pasta machine!

Donnadoon · 08/05/2013 13:13

Roopoo You've got to do what is right for you and your family...Don't beat yourself up my SIL put her lad in aged 6 weeks because she couldn't cope. You may find it creates more stress/guilt for you OR it may make you a happier more relaxed Mummy...just be kind to yourself x

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:20

Also meant to add - have stopped having cereal with milk, cocoa (made with milk) and am only having 1 yoghurt a day and the odd bit of cheese, eg on pasta. Eggy poos? Gone. DH even commented last night, that her poos smelt of baby poo instead of egg. Coincidence?

Sorry if poo chat is a bit much over lunchtime Blush

PurplePidjin · 08/05/2013 13:26

Roopoo you deserve a break sometimes. Plus, he'll need to get used to nursery before you start work - this way you'll be on call if there are any settling issues. Do it :)

TheDetective · 08/05/2013 13:30

Fucking bastarding wednesday has bought me to my knees in fuckedoffness. Only the fact it is sweary fucking wednesday has given me some cathartic joy.

Fucking grill has stopped working in the oven. The vast majority of the food we are now eating on slimming world is grilled.

We use the grill for toast - no room in kitchen for a toaster.

I love my fucking grill.

Just remembered I have a panini grill thing. I can do mushrooms on it. But not tomatoes waaaaaaaaaah! Wonder if I can do toast...

I just had to eat my dippy eggs with fucking bread FFS! Bread does not fucking dip. Angry

My TV is also fucking up.

Anyone got £600 to replace TV and oven please?!

TheDetective · 08/05/2013 13:38

OH! And while I am at it, I got a new hoover and laptop from Comet last September.

Both are fucking up.

The cylinder in the Dyson keeps falling out when we hoover, and we should really return it to the shop. But clearly, can not. If we send it back to Dyson we are without a hoover for far too long than is managable with a hairy fucking lab, which is why we bought the shitting thing in the first place!

And my laptop screen keeps dimming to barely visable. You'd think it was cutting out, but you can just make out the screen is still on if you look closely. When I shut it and reboot it comes back on okay.

Why is everything breaking?!?!?!?!

ChasingDaisy · 08/05/2013 13:41

Pass the official grobags are pretty and I'm a snob Blush

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:43

Because the gadgetry knows, det - it fucking knows we're at our wits end and penniless, and does it's best to piss us right off.

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:44

We have a sleeping bag from mamas & papas and have found it very good. Will be on the prowl for summer ones soon though, after payday.

ChasingDaisy · 08/05/2013 13:46

I can't afford to buy both 1 and 2.5 tog bags. Could I buy 1 tog and layer his clothes up when he is cold? Or buy 2.5 tog and figure we will have more cold night's than warm?

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 13:52

Chasing we currently have 0-6m 2.5 tog ones. I will get 6-12m 1 tog ones, with the option to pop a blanket on top. That should see F through to winter next year. When you think that over winter it was minus overnight, it's currently about 10 degrees and will only get warmer through summer/autumn.

YellowWellies · 08/05/2013 14:06

1 tog ones are for room temperatures from 21-23°c, 2.5 tog ones are for room temperatures 16-20°c. Realistically in our house, with how we like the heating and because we're in Scotland where hot nights are rare - I think 2.5 tog ones will do us for the summer.

GT I'm really concerned your family are forcing a wee baby to go 12 hours without fluids. In the summer that risks dehydration. If he slept that long naturally is one thing but training him that no one is going to come and give him a drink when he's thirsty because that's easier for your DH / PIL is cruel. Having kids isn't about putting adult needs before that of a helpless infant - so what if your DH doesn't want to get out of bed - he's a grown man so should suck it up. Stick by your guns - you're right and your FH is in the wrong H should always be offered water at least when he cries.

Even if he doesn't get dehydrated - it is going to damage the wee man's trust in his carers if he cries because he's thirsty and no one comes to him Sad with a sibling coming along so soon he needs to be secure emotionally to cope with the upheaval.

If your PIL think he's too big (he looks perfectly gorgeous to me) then at least offering water will be a compromise.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/05/2013 14:23

Good luck MaMaPo

Roo If I could afford it I would put at least DD1 back into childcare part time and possibly, one day a week, put both of them in. I am so not cut out for full time stay at home stuff. It's just the constant illness and no money which stops me from doing it. Is it a coincidence that both girls have been healthy more or less since DD1 stopped nursery? It's been four weeks since LO stopped her last cour of antibiotics. It could be the good weather I suppose, but I think less exposire to other grubby children is also helping. BUT as I said, if there was some way I could have a part time help of some kind I would jump at it.

ChasingDaisy · 08/05/2013 14:24

Thanks YW The grobags are 6-18 months so will do us for next winter as well. I think I will buy 2.5 tog and for hot night's he can sleep sans bag and maybe just have a sheet.

And GT exactly what YW said. There is no way I could go 12 hours without so much as a sip of water.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/05/2013 14:24

And I agree with YW about GT but I would also hire a night nanny if I could afford it

fruitpastilles · 08/05/2013 14:25

I need to get new grobags too, I didn't get the proper ones for S they are too expensive, I didn't think to look in TK Maxx though, I'm going to go there first before I buy her cheapo ones Smile

Qq, S has to have thicker formula as she can't keep normal formula down, when I have been giving her solids, I have been giving her water in a sippy cup but she just brings it back up, along with whatever food she's had, she isn't sick with just the purees. What do I do? I wouldn't have a meal without a drink so I shouldn't expect her to. Plus she needs extra fluids when it's warm right?? Help!

Passmethecrisps · 08/05/2013 14:38

Good luck mama! It will be fine and you will have a wonderful adventure.

fruit you can use carobel to thicken water. Ask your pharmacist about it. I think it can be bought over the counter.

I like the look of the grobags I must say. Do they have the shoulder poppers? I have a 2.5 tog for night and a 1.5 for day. Consistently the temperature in our house sits between 18 and 21 degrees. The day one is purely so she isn't too cosy - if I am having a nap I don't get into my jammies and under the duvet. Probably we will use the 2.5 one throughout unless it is massively warm

fruitpastilles · 08/05/2013 14:43

Thanks pass I didn't realise you could use it for water, I thought it was just for formula or to thicken food.

ChasingDaisy · 08/05/2013 14:48

Yep they have shoulder poppers. I have ordered the next size up from them. Sod the price, I'm a sucker for them. They do a two pack for £40.

BigPigLittlePig · 08/05/2013 14:52

Just gave F some porridge. Will put the photo on fb - it fits the "non-happy baby" theme and the weaning theme. Hilarious!

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/05/2013 14:53

Afternoon ladies, my blood test results are in and I'm very low in VIT B12, Iron and Folates. I have to take supplements for 3 months and then go back.

J is being shockingly awful at night, web calm and unflappable DP has had his head in his hands this past few days, this baby just will NOT sleep past about midnight. His legs are constantly kicking and he just cries and cries. I'm exhausted, DP is exhausted. We're at a bit of a wall as to what to try next.

J seems to constantly have a stuffed up nose and wheezy chest which doesn't help at all, we attempted a 'date night' Sunday but got a call halfway through dinner because J just wouldn't stop screaming in the end we went and got him. Confused

ChasingDaisy · 08/05/2013 15:06

pass I've popped a pic of the grobag on fb so you can see the shoulders.
