Sounds like cranial osteopathy divides opinion. I will admit I am clutching at straws a bit as am desperate for some decent sleep. Think I just need to give him more time. Going to hold off weaning for a couple of weeks. He is only 23 weeks and is a slave to his digestive system. Think he needs more time to develop in that area.

ChasingDaisy · 07/05/2013 11:03

O is getting too heavy for me to keep rocking him to sleep now and my back is suffering. Think I am going to start using the pram indoors to rock him to sleep.

Horsey I wanted to pick your brain about abdominal exercises. I had abs before O Sad Now my stomach is flat but untoned. What are the best sorts of exercises to do?

GT how are you getting on with your SPD?

Lily311 · 07/05/2013 12:17

We had 4 sessions cranial osteopathy. It helped w her screaming and her reflux. But looking back it might have been getting better anyhow. I am not convinced but I was desperate to try anything.

Passmethecrisps · 07/05/2013 12:34

Good on you kyz. Sounds like you are getting into the swing of things.

I have roasted butternut squash this morning. I gave it 1.5 hrs at 180oC in a fan oven.

P has managed to self-settle twice today! Hallelujah! chasing like you my back and shoulders were starting to suffer

Passmethecrisps · 07/05/2013 12:45

stunt I was wondering about your DS2's age because I also had big issues with primary school. To this day I am not sure what the issues actually were but the day I started I began bed wetting. It didn't stop until literally my last day. My last day of P7 I was dry that night and never wet again.

I appeared happy at school, talked about my teachers all the time and was happy to go but it made me quite subconsciously anxious. I couldn't have verbalised what was wrong had anyone asked. Now as a teacher and an adult I can identify all sorts of issues which will have raised my anxiety levels.

I say this because your wee boy may not know himself what it is about school or even if there is an issue at all.

I am not sure if that is helpful at all but it might be good to step back a bit and try to see the wider picture again just incase anything has been missed.

Passmethecrisps · 07/05/2013 12:53

And my health question!

It is a long story!

About 5 or 6 years ago I coughed violently and hurt something in my rib cage. It hurt when I breathed deeply and when I rolled my shoulders. It went away but came back periodically. I can't identify what brings it back on but it can become quite disabling for periods of time making it hard to drive or turn my kneck. It goes away after a few days.

Recently I have been having strange dizzy spells. I thought I was hungry but eating doesn't seem to make any difference. I notice it happens particularly if I have just got out of a lift. The other day I was out shopping and had to look at the rails of clothes to convince myself that the floor was not moving. I felt very unstable. It fades within a few minutes.

I didn't connect the two until I was out recently. I had a dizzy spell and became suddenly aware of the chest pain. It also works the other way where the chest pain seems to lead to the dizzy spell.

So quichesters - are the two related? WTF is wrong with me?

ShellyBobbs · 07/05/2013 12:57

Hello all Grin

Hope everyone is well. Sorry to hear about shit sleepers, Tommy is still a frequent night feeder. Weaning here is a very slow starter, he's not interested in anything at all except fromage frais. I walked outside with one yesterday and he started bouncing and singing in his high chair Grin

Currently pinned to the settee feeding him, at least all this feeding is making it possible for me to eat loads of shit still Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 07/05/2013 13:19

pass that sounds horrible. Have you mentioned it to your gp?

I get dizzy if I tip my head back - hate going to the hairdressers as tipping my bed back over the sink plus the pressure of the sink on my neck in that spot makes me feel quite ill. When I mentioned it to my gp a while ago he shrugged and muttered something about nerves.

Probably that I was getting on his with all my questions, but anyway.

StuntNun · 07/05/2013 13:31

There are lots of things that can cause dizzy spells Pass, usually the inner ear such as labyrinthitis or Ménière's or somesuch. I can't think of anything that would be related to chest pain though, could the chest pain be caused by reflux or pleurisy? Do you have any other symptoms with the dizziness, e.g. does it get worse when you move your head quickly or tilt it to one side? Thanks for the tip about DS2 and school, we definitely think there's something going on but they can't pinpoint anything obvious such as bullying. He suffers from abdominal migraines and we suspect he is dyslexic so he could be struggling at school even though he appears to enjoy himself there.

PR that sounds like BPPV to me.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/05/2013 13:37

That looks about right stunt thanks.

Oh well, doen't stop me leading a normal life except I don't do stargazing or birdwatching :o

ChasingDaisy · 07/05/2013 13:47

Pass my first thought about the dizziness was an ear problem. I would definitely be visiting the GP.

All this sun has reminded me to do an audit of my moles. My mum had skin cancer in a mole when she was 21 and I have already had two suspect ones removed. Please everyone check your moles regularly for any changes. And there ends Chasing's Public Health announcement Grin

Stunt what are abdominal migraines? I suffer with migraines and hoped that as a boy O might escape them.

Had a lovely time at the park with O today. His second time on the swings and we had big smiles. He has just drank 6oz, (which is unheard of) had a massive poo (unheard of in the past 48 hours) and passed out on my lap. That's him and me cosied up on the sofa for the afternoon now. Lovely day Smile

ValiumQueen · 07/05/2013 13:50

pass no idea sorry, but I would encourage you to see your GP about the dizziness. Worth mentioning the sporadic pain too. Dizziness whilst in charge of a small one is not good. You have also had poor sleep for a long time IIRC.

horseylady · 07/05/2013 14:03

pass is the pain upper or lower rib? It sounds as if your muscles are going into spasm. See a sports Physio. Mine does it periodically. A good sports massage sorts it. It kills. But the muscle stops spasming.

Depending where the spasm occurs, it could be linked to the dizziness, it could be ears. Or like me, it could just be one of things which happens.

Always worth seeing the dr.

Ds had cranial oseopapthy. I think it helped. My friends baby had it. She didn't think it worked.

Core work needs various exercises. A quick one is plank. Also good to just be aware of what you're doing all the time. A use your core. Reverse breathing helps the muscles re connect too. Or sit ups. But make sure you do them properly.

Ds has learnt to properly bounce his jumperoo. Spends hours bouncing. Bounce bounce bounce. He just tried to bounce out his carrier on the dog walk.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 07/05/2013 15:23

The dizziness read to me a bit like vertigo. But that wouldnt tie in with the chest pain.

BigPigLittlePig · 07/05/2013 15:24

PR compression of the arteries in the back of the neck inhibits blood flow to the back of the brain (the balance centre) temporarily - a relatively common problem. If it were BPPV then symptoms would occur if you moved your head in that direction outside of the hairdressers chair too.

Pass I suspect the 2 are unrelated. Chest pain of that nature and persisting for so long is almost certainly muscular. Dizziness has many varied causes, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess at your cause - but a good idea to get it checked. Tiredness, anaemia, low blood pressure, ear problems to name but a few.

Thanks for stretching the grey matter guys! Not sure I'm going to be terribly efficient when I go back to work in 8 weeks

Fs friend came to play in the paddling pool today. She sat all ladylike, he splashed like a man possessed lol. But fun was had, the weather makes such a difference. She had some more melon and banana for lunch, think we'll attempt butternut squash tomorrow.

Poonami calls.

Pikz · 07/05/2013 15:25

Is it bad that I'm laughing at my very very frustrated crawler who gets his bum up moves forward but to do that his face ends up on the floor being pushed along..

wannabedomesticgoddess · 07/05/2013 15:29

S is doing the crab along the floor. Hates being on her tummy.

I lost her in the cot yesterday. She had crabbed right up to the top corner and pulled the blanket right over herself. The other blanket was in a ball in the other corner. I looked in and there was no baby! Mind raced through where else she could be until she giggled in her sleep. :o

daisychain76 · 07/05/2013 15:33

Hello all, feeling a lot brighter this week as after 6 nights of torture H is now back to waking 2/3 times a night. Do keep finding stupid mistakes l made while trying to work last week though.

kyz those veggies sound fab. l am trying H with homemade pizza tonight.

izzy hope your dad is ok today.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/05/2013 15:34

pig I don't get the pain and nausea except at the hairdresser's, but I get the dizziness if I turn my head too far in any direction, particularly upwards. Which is why I was only half joking when I said I can't do stargazing or birdwatching. I only noticed it after my back injury a few years ago, but it possibly has been going on for far longer than that. Everything gets magnified since that injury.

I'm in for a bad night. DD1 has only just gone for a nap. She wouldn't sleep at her usual time and leaving her to stay awake all day didn't work as she went and curled up with the dig and fell asleep.

BigPigLittlePig · 07/05/2013 16:48

I love the sun. I do not love hayfever though.

fruitpastilles · 07/05/2013 17:02

I hate and detest hayfever with a passion bp
