Here we go then... I've also updated my album of photos on the \link{http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/photos\Yahoo site}, it'd be great to see recent pics of all our angels on there!

Rachy - good luck going back to work.

SK - hope you and your kittens feeling better. Sounds a bit grim.

Eshay - how was the radio interview? Did you get nervous?

Tickle - hope all goes well with Theo's christening.

Lisa - hope you are well on the way to recovery now.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 14/08/2006 17:50

Blimey, just re-read my post. Sounds as if I'm going to slit my wrists. I'm not by the way. Just having one of those weeks I guess. Just read another thread where loads of mums were confessing to being bored out of their minds so am not feeling so wicked now for admitting that I'm bored of being a mum (at the mo). It's only a phase and it shall pass!

Oh, and Libby starting to make sounds that really do sound like 'hello' 'ella' amd 'dada'.

Tickle · 15/08/2006 22:50

hi all - christening went really well, though Clemmie was stealing the show by dancing around at the front of the church. DH's dad is a retired vicar, and was able to step in for Theo's actual dunking... very sweet. Pretty special to be able to be christened by your grandad

Georgie - I know just what you mean and I think you're doing just the right thing with a bit of scheduled time off. You need to be able to let someone else shoulder the responsibility for all those tedious bits once in a while! As for not playing with them enough... I am always feeling guilty about that one. DH is so much better at having fun with them. In our case I think it is that there is always something else to be done (the mundane stuff) which keeps me occupied. Then when that is finished I just need peace, which I don't seem to get from the children . Sometimes I do like to read books with them tho, and that gives a nice 'supermummy' glow

Got Theo some enemas from the chemist, so finally got the little man moving. We have his xray on Fri to see what they plan to do. Will keep you posted.

ds1 starts at dd1's school tomorrow - he is v excited!

hi gals well it's got even grimer at chez kitty this week. Saga as follows: Friday I started getting tummy pains and thought oh tummy bug and was expecting sickness or diarrhoea to follow but no, spent Saturday morning and most of the day doubled up in agony, feeding T was grim, DP had to look after both girls most of the day, Sunday was no better gripping stomach spasms so went to see a GP, ruled out appendicitis, UTI, pregnancy (!) etc gave me anti spasmodics and off I went, these didn't work Monday was horrendous on my own with the two of them, went back to the GP on Tuesday he thinks it may be an ulcer but he's unsure gave me more tablets, DP had to take day off work. Tonight I am feeling better but still tender. T's thrush cleared up but she hasn't had a decent poo since last Thursday, HV advised orange juice and plenty of fruit but no joy yet. She's fine in every other way though. Then Abbie catches the cold and passes it onto me. I honestly could cry what a week, I hate being ill and not being able to look after my babies. Fingers crossed I'm on the mend now.

georgie - good to hear from you, I totally understand about the mum thing. I find the first year really boring as much as I adore them they don't do much. Abbie is much more interesting now. When DP is with them he just plays all the time, when I'm with them I'm doing housework, laundry all the other stuff too. T has gone back to waking twice in the night too and along with everything else I'm constantly exhausted. Good luck with the property developing too.

Rach - hope the nursery is going well, Finn sounds a real star, are you expressing for him whilst he's there or using formula?

Tickle - the christening sounded lovely, hope it goes well on Friday.

Hope everyone else is doing well sorry for the depressing post

sophiewd · 17/08/2006 10:05

New to mumsnet so thought I'd join the Jan-06 as Edith was born. We are really enjoying her as much to all my fiends envy/hatred she is a laid back sleeper, loving her food and an all round good girl which is good as I run a B&B while ny husband works. She sat for the first time a couple of days ago and now will not drink her bottle unless she is sitting which is very funny to watch. No teeth yet but sure they will arrive soon. Our dog is highly excited now that she is on solids.

barrelrider · 17/08/2006 12:53

Hi all, long time no speak!

Welcome Sophie, great to see a new name When was Edith born? She sounds cute

Georgie I totally understand as well and it's made me feel a lot better knowing other people feel like this! I still feel a sort of guilty relief when I put D in bed for the night so I can have some 'me' time and not worry about whether I'm interacting enough! So much so that I've been going through a bit of a nightmare with alcohol.. have to try desperately hard not to drink of an evening and most nights I don't succeed.. anyway enough about that.

Have got to go back to consultant in September to talk about operation to sort my bits out - it STILL hurts!!!! Must be getting close to a world record! but Nothing like as bad as it was of course.

Dominic has got a tooth coming through! He has had a virus too and spent most of yesterday sleeping on my chest! Back to his chirpy self today after a good night's sleep. He is really gorgeous, totally yummy!

Not got time to read all the posts but love to allxxx

sophiewd · 17/08/2006 13:38

Edie was born on 21st jan. Went in to be reduced but she started life as she went on, happy and laid back. I didn't go into labour after inducement her heartbeat was strong but not varied enough and the lovely consultants decided that instead of trying inducing again and having three days of labour and them an EC they whipped her out to We are family playing on the Radio.

BBWBabeLisa · 17/08/2006 22:27

Sweetkitty, have they suggested doing an ultrasound scan to look for gall stones. Sounds just like what I had. At least if it is the op to remove them is fairly straightforward.

BBWBabeLisa · 17/08/2006 22:38

Hi to everyone who's been asking how I am, thank you! I'm feeling SO much better. The wounds have all pretty much healed (apart from one single stitch that is refusing to dissolve and is sticking up thru the skin irritating me to distraction so that I keep trying to pick at it and pull it out. The nurse tried to get it out with tweezers etc but it wouldn't budge and was too short to cut.
Andy had his op about 10 days or so ago too, so it's been a poorly household all in all. Lola's been a dream thru it all, I do feel terribly guilty tho that she's not getting enough play etc while we've both been feeling crappy.
Has anyone seen the stuff in Private Eye this week about "the lawsuit"?
Still no teeth here yet, just lots of dribbling. No crawling either, she's another one who just lies on her tummy bawling to be turned over.
I have my appointment on Wednesday at the pre-conception diabetic clinic! Sometimes I think I must be slightly mad to be getting ready to do it all again, but then I think I'll be glad I had them close together when they're a wee bit older (thats assuming it doesn't take us 18 mths trying again - hopefully with the help of NG's Persona it won't!).

sophiewd · 18/08/2006 13:34

Momwntous week. Able to sit, now she won't lie down and DD no has her first tooth although someone else noticed as she hasn't been grizzling and only a couple of extra pooie nappies. I can feel the terrible twos coming along to make up for al this angelic behaviour!

sweetkitty · 18/08/2006 15:42

Lisa - glad you are doing well. Would definately recommend the close age gap, it's hard at times but really worth it. Only problem is Abbie is still coordinating pooing with Talia feeding.

Sophie - welcome to our little group we are a nice bunch I think!

barrelrider - good to hear from you too

I'm feeling a bit better now, have lost my voice now though but stomach wise things have started to settle down.

Had to take T to the doctors this morning, she got some suppositories and some lactulose, she's already passed a small hard poo which must have hurt as she was crying, T hardly ever cries she has a moan when she's tired that's it (oh or when Abbie runs over her with her pram) I have been drinking loads of orange juice to try and pass something onto her and you've guessed it I've had the runs!!! Typical!

B8 · 18/08/2006 21:20

Hi! newish to mumsnet and it's the first time I've found this thread- can I join please? Lily was born at the beginning of January 2006. I've found it great second time around, although I have to admit that I have been feeling incredibly broody still, even though we are agreeing that 2 is enough for us!I was really apprehensive initially as my eldest is 5 and starting school- despite the fact that they can be hard work, they both seem to love each other desperately!

iris66 · 18/08/2006 22:14

Hi all - and welcome B8 and sophie. Seems we're all a bit sporadically posting at the mo for one reason or another! And are we all bowel obsessed or what? lol! was quizzing the HV the other day about Dom too with all the intolerance/allergy stuff going on & got scant help/info. Thank goodness for MN!!!

Rach - hope your return to work is going ok (am embarassingly late in starting back - tax return due & still not done anything!) - DD was doing attatchment for her AS level so read a bit about it. Apparently Dom is bang on target for his "stranger terror" atm. He is an utter limpet and since DH has been away he won't contenance him comforting him either, just screams hysterically(strong attatchment or no it isn't helpful to any of us ) and random people just reduce him to a quivering wreck, poor babe.

Barrelrider - if I was in your shoes honey I think I'd be hitting the vino much more!

Lisa - I think you are mad but am envious of your obvious resources (for that I think I mean youth!!). I'd love another but am so sleep deprived I know I couldn't cope. Well, not unless DH was home more! He was away a month then home for 5 days (working) now away again for a week. I'm starting to feel like a lone parent!!!

Georgie - it's comforting to hear that the "down time" is normal - thanks and get you Missey Property Tycoon!!!! Don't forget us eh!! (and whispers ..... if you hear of any good deals in the south west that you're not interested in then do divulge )

Tickle - love the name. I so wanted Albert for DS (my great GF) but couldn't have it. Sounds like you had a lovely time.

Eshay - How did the radio show go? I am sooo impressed!! I applied, and got a call, to go on the Who wants to be a Millionaire Millenuim show but wimped out (feeble, feeble feeble )

Anyway - sorry to dash but going to miss BB (my mum got me addicted - sorry!!) Dom got his second tooth today. Sitting up fine and rolling all over the place but not crawling. Loves lentil casserole and pear best but still Mr Rashy McRash (but we're working on it) Sleep is still an occasional thing as he would rather be attached to my boob than settle himself (my fault I'm sure!) love & hugs to all you & yours
iris xxx

iris66 · 18/08/2006 22:18

oooh - nearly forgot!!!! DD passed all her AS exams!!!! she was a bit peeved only to get a C in Business & Economics as she'd has A's in all her coursework but she did pants in the exam (taken the day DOm was born after waiting up all night then phone call from DH at 4am! )
I AM SOOOO PROUD!!!!!!!

wherethewildthingsare · 19/08/2006 11:00

Hi all!

Welcome to newbies and to all the oldies too!

Well done to dd, Iris!

Go for it Lisa, there is no 'right' time and it's about time someone from this thread took the plunge!

Sweetkitty - hope your girls are all well again. I'm not expressing this time (I did with ds1 till 9 months) but with 3 other kids I don't have the time, inclination etc this time - just packing his bag takes ages! Also, from being exclusively bf till nearly 6 months, he is now on 3 solid meals (he loves his food) and self-weaning pretty rapidly - even when he's with me he doesn't want any milk between breakfast and early afternoon so I only have to give nursery a small bottle of formula for the afternoon (he only takes 4oz or so). I'd really like to continue feeding him for as long as poss but I have to go away overnight next month so we'll see. Nursery is going well and his stranger terror hasn't kicked in yet (I think 8-9 months?)

Sleeping is still erratic (but 7.30 pm till 5.45am last night!) so hopefully we are getting there (one advantage of cooler, darker nights). He is sitting up and can get his bum off the floor when he's on his front, really determined!

Georgie - don't worry about the way you feel - I have been a SAHM, worked part-time and full-time and there are pros and cons to all. This time I don't have a choice as it was my choice to have all these kids! I have to say it is nice to pass over the more tedious aspects of feeding, changing, cleaning etc for a bit. It is incredibly hard to work from home , I'm still missing the adult company element. (I'm sure I won't say this when I'm on my way to Liverpool or London though).

wherethewildthingsare · 19/08/2006 11:14

Oops, sorry!

Just re-read my post and would like to clarify that Finn does bf a fair bit, he just still does it all between 4pm and 8am and rejects the boob inbetween! We are taking the baby-led weaning approach and I'm following his lead,he's happy with water with his meals. He has always been a quick efficient feeder but of course with no comfort sucking to stimulate more milk I can see my supply dropping quickly, hopefully it will stabilise at a morning and evening feed.

iris66 · 19/08/2006 22:01

Just a quick one for all you cloth nappy users. I've been having an awful time trying to find trousers that fit (are Tinkertogs and Cut4Cloth the only sources?) anyway I came across Vertbaudets organic range here I ordered some and they are really lovely. Good sizing too.

wherethewildthingsare · 20/08/2006 08:18

Thanks for the tip Iris! I'm tending to use bamboozles for the day and I can wedge most trousers over them (Next are tricky though, they are very slim cut round the waist). My salvation though has been dungarees!

Sweetkitty - forgot to say I had a similar thing with my stomach a couple of years ago - it turned out to be a sort of ulcer caused by taking ibruprofen on an empty somach (I had twisted my shoulder badly) - do you ever do this? Now I am taking diclofenac for my tendonitis (what an old crock! - waiting for an MRI scan to see if I have a cyst inside my ankle) they are enteric coated tablets and are only absorbed in the gut.

PS Finn is sat on the rug in front of the Tv watching Roobarb and Custard with his mouth wide open....

iris66 · 20/08/2006 10:28

think Dom must be a bit broader in the beam than Finn with his nappies (I tend to stick to fluffles. maybe I should get some bamboozles to try)- if I put him in normal dungarees he can't bend his legs to sit down
chuckled at the image of Finn

BBWBabeLisa · 20/08/2006 11:51

Mornin all
Lola let me sleep til almost 9.30am this morning, it was BLISS! I just hope I don't pay for that at bedtime tonight! She's generally an 8 til 8 baby, so fingers crossed. Maybe she was just extra tired after our day out at Gun Wharf Quays yesterday (if you haven't been - go - it's fabby).
Iris, I dunno about youth, I'm feeling older with every day that passes (but maybe thats just coz I'm not used to the hard work being a mum involves, I'm 34 on my next birthday). One of the reasons we wanna have number 2 sooner rather than later is that I already feel tired most of the time (and thats with a good sleeper, gawd knows what I'll be like if I get a lively one next time!), I think if I left it til I was any older I wouldn't be able to hack it.
I've joined the thread of those hoping for a positive september, but you lot will be the first to know when theres any news lol.

Chuffed · 20/08/2006 21:25

Hey haven't been on for a while so can't catch up completely.
I did read about the cloth clothes, we found h&m can have some ok stuff for over cloth and also \link{http://www.pumpkinpatch.co.uk\pumpkinpatch
can have some stuff that fits well. We don't have any trouble with pockets and bamboozles, sometimes tots are snug but they seem to be no problem too.
Overall things are good for us, ds is crawling and is into everything which means a lot of "no's" from his sister (2.5) but they are interacting more and more and he does think she is fantastic which is cool.
Can't wait until summer when we can get out and about more.
Take care all!!!!

wherethewildthingsare · 21/08/2006 09:41

Iris - do try some bamboozles or wham-bamboos, they are very slim and nice fitting under clothes. The only disadavantage is that they take forever to dry, they can be out in the sun all day and then I still have to tumble them for 10 minutes. I tend to use fluffles at night and when we are at home trouserless! They are great for drying quickly. Now Finn has started nursery, they are changing him so much they are getting through 4 nappies in about 6 hrs! They are barely damp! I'm glad I'm not throwing away (and paying for) disposables.
