Wow so many posts, sorry I was feeling a little down the other night lack of sleep probably. Not much to report here, bought T a baby walker the other day (I know I said I was against them) but it's more for protection than anything else, although Abbie is great with her she is only 2 herself. T adores being upright and she tries to follow Abbie across the room in it. Abbie adores it a bit too much too she thinks it's a car and tries to turf T out. Still only 2 teeth here as well and she's got rolling perfected pretty well. We are about 90% BLW here, she does get a bit of Weetabix and some yoghurt on a spoon though. Gave her pasta spirals yesterday just plain and she loved them, oh and she did have a "Skip" yesterday courtesy of her sister.

Abbie's doing well on her potty training, I totally leave it up to her today at toddlers she asked to go to the toilet even though she had a nappy on. Still having the odd accident though.

Sal - hi welcome to our little group Imogen sounds like a little angel too. I took redundancy too to stay at home with my first DD, Abbie who's now 2, loved it so much I got pregnant again when she was 9 months with Talia. Would recommend it (not that you would know from all the moaning I do on here.)

Lisa - hi will check out your website in a mo. Well done to Lola on cutting her first tooth too.

Loomer - hi good to hear from you too, Scarlett sounds adorable too they all do, it's a great age when they start to get mobile and interested in everything, T just wants to eat everything and anyone, is embarrassing when someone takes her for a cuddle and she's chewing on their arm, ear, cleavage!

Georgie - your story of your hol made me laugh sorry. Best wishes to Molly starting school I cannot imagine any of my babies starting think I will be crying for about a week when it happens. Cannot believe it's your first anniversary already, I hope you get spoiled and make up for your erm spoiled wedding night

Mumfun - good to hear from you as well. I just keep saying it's not forever on the no sleep front.

Hi to everyone else better go this is turning into a saga, take care sk x

lilymolly · 01/09/2006 22:35

Hi DD was born 9th January- does that mean I can Join??

BBWBabeLisa · 02/09/2006 11:48

Absolutely Lilymolly, welcome! Jump in. Everyone's really friendly. Your DD is only 3 days older than mine.

lilymolly · 02/09/2006 12:30

Will tell you about us-
live in durham area with dd and dp, dog, 2 horses and 2 cows!!
DD is petite girl with great personality- dream baby, sleeps really well, and is just (finally) eating solids properly (has little appetite) She was due 27th Dec, but managed to stay in until 9th January. She has crawled since 6 months old and is now pulling herself up on things onto her feet and is into evrything!
Having year off work, sales rep, returning in january next year after dd 1st birthday.
Thanks for welcoming me.

BBWBabeLisa · 02/09/2006 19:23

Blimey! Crawling from 6mths! DD is coming up for 8 mths soon and hasn't figured out how to move an inch yet. She has pretty much got to grips with sitting up by herself (barring the odd loss of balance resulting in her falling flat on her face and wailing!). She's nowhere near pulling herself up on things. If I hold both her hands and pull she helps herself get to standing but thats about it. I keep telling myself it might be coz she was delivered early and could have stayed in there up to another month in theory(due date 27th Jan - cs delivery 12th jan) but realistically I know she'd have well caught up those few weeeks by now. I do think her reflux may have slowed down her development in that area a wee bit tho, as until recently she didn't get as much time just playing on the floor as I'd have liked coz she had to be kept semi-upright or she'd puke all her milk up.

How you doing SK? Sleeping been any better?
Lola's been waking an hour or so after going down for the last 3 nights now. The only thing that settles her is a bottle and she ends up having about 10-11oz in total between her bedtime feed and the one to settle her an hour later. She doesn't drink a lot of milk in the daytime (about 10oz + milk in food) as anything above 4-5oz tends to come back up if she's awake so am quite happy for her to have 10-11oz, so am experimenting tonight with giving her 5oz before her bath, then 5oz after in the hope that maybe she'll go back to going down and staying down again.

Tickle · 03/09/2006 21:15

Hi girls

Haven't been on for ages, as we have been working flat out, but the season is just about over - yay!!

An update on what Theo is up to then

no teeth
crawling - a funny one knee one foot sort of shuffle, but pretty effective
pulling up on everything - he's really strong, and doing it much sooner than I remember with the other 3.
Sleep - hmmm. Bed at 8ish, but only with boob. DH hasn't got a hope of putting him to bed himself Still waking for a feed between 11 & 1, then one more about 4. Up sometime between 6 & 7.

He's a very merry chap, and adores his big sisters and brother - but he has found a high-pitched whingey cry to get me up at night which is getting me down a bit.

The doctors seem to think there is nothing physicaly wrong with his digestion, so he is on laxatives in every drink, and manages to poo every few days I suppose, but not that much. They will check again in a few months.

I haven't read all the posts, but a few bits I have picked up...

Barrel how's it going? Well done for seeing your GP - hope things are ok round at your house

Poppies my ds was born on the same day as Poppy Welcome!

Georgie have you thought about having an open house weekend? It gets more punters in and minimises the continual tidying up! Have fun on that lovely anniversary trip. Congrats too to Loomer DH & I forgot ours again this year (how crap is that).

BBWBL Gorgeous pics Does Lola ever stop smiling ??? don't worry about the lack of movement - mine have all been massively different, and Theo is definitely the quickest at this crawling business. And once they start moving, you wish they weren't, cos you realise how many things are at baby height T's current favourite is the crate we keep all the oils, soy sauce etc in. I have had to move DH's chilli sauce to back, as he gummed the lid and howled yesterday!!

WildRachey Thanks for the BLW info - trying it now and loving it. Seems so much more natural, but you do get purees pushed down your throat (so to speak) by all other sources of info.

Hi to all newbies, and hello to all the oldies too that i haven't mentioned by name
Better go and clean up the house - will post more in future, brownies honour.

Just a quick note . . off out to B/F Group (excuse for a gossip and natter ;))

Added some pics to the Yahoo group . . Tyvm for letting me know about that!

ANd BLW is great TY again for the info

Tickle - Your nighttime routien sounds almost the same as mine!! Though when the cry is at 6-7 I bring her into our bed for a B/f hehe

Hi Lilly - Where in Co. Durham are you? I'm there too and wow . . crawling from 6mths! Active LO

Anyways gotta run!! Hope to speak soon

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 04/09/2006 14:17

Hi there everyone. Just a quickie whilst M glued to the tv and Libs having her lunchtime nap.

Hello to all the newbies. Lovely to have you on board.

Lilymolly - Libby was born one day after your DD. And by the sound of it she's got a lot of catching up to do with your DD!

Had great anniversary. And yep SK, certainly made up for lack of action on wedding night .

Oh god, I had first 'accident' with Libs this morning. She was sitting on bed watching me dry my hair. I turned round for a second and she launched herself from sitting onto her front and right off the bed onto the floor. She bumped her head on bedside table on way down and now has duck egg on her forehead. She hollered the place down. Cripes, I felt really really really awful .

I composed a special fairytale for DH and made a book for him with photo's of us all (1st wedding anniversary is paper). Felt a bit Blue Peter, but he loved it.

Nothing else to report here.

SS - great news about Kenya. Bet its going to be a glorious wedding. Talk about amazing wedding pics.

SK - Libs has got a baby walker too. Said I wouldn't, but that girl just wanted to walk so. Mollie just pushes her across the kitchen at full force. Another accident waiting to happen me thinks

Tickle - Give us another 5 yrs and DH and I will be forgetting our anniversary too. And thanks for the tip on open house.

Lise - same as you on development front. Libs slower than Moo on crawling etc. But it all evens out in the end.

Loomer - hope you had lovely anniversary too. Think I'd have prefered the fresh crab that you had though. Lovely meal, but crumbs duck doesn't agree with me .

OK, will love you and leave you. If you hear wailing on Thurs morn its only me

G xx

Tickle · 04/09/2006 16:23

Georgie the book sounds lovely... I have been promising myself to get some B&W photos of the whole family together for DH's next bday (Christmas Eve, so I should have time!), but knowing me it will be a last min scramble

BTW, Sal - I keep reading your name on posts as SleePySal - perfectly reasonable for mums of babies this age - but of course it isn't. Where does the Sleey bit come from??

All reminding me to get baby walker out of loft. Likewise I said I would never have one, but when MIL passed it on to us for Clemmie, it was invaluable for keeping her amused
baking cookies to a MN recipe as I type... better go!

Hi Sal I am in derwentside area near Consett!
Thanks for all the comments re dd crawling!! Beleive me its NOT big and clever (although dd thinks it is) it is very hard work.
But I am proud!!

Eshay · 05/09/2006 10:46

Hi all and welcome to the new members.

Things are going well here. Alex is not crawling yet but he does do that backwards sliding shufflle thing. He doesn't like it at all tough so he usually cries for help right away. He's very good at sitting up and has been for ages but seems to have decided that that is enough for now. He's not interested in pulling himsel up yet. Not that I mind, it is much safer for him to stay seated His eating has improved a lot, he likes to eat all sorts now but still hates sweet potato. Not sure why? He now has 3 teeth at the bottom and an incredible 4 are pushing their way through at the top. so you can imagine how uncomfortable he has been for the past week or so. i really feel for him. Two have now pushed through the gums so that should ease the pain a bit for him. poor thing. His sleeping is going well. He sleeps 7-7 unless he wriggles up to the top of the cot and bangs his head... Last night i tucked the bottom of his sleeping bag under the mattress and that worked very well. He was still in the middle of the cot this morning.
As for naps, he has 45 mins at 9am and then about 2 hours at 12.30. Then to bed at 7. This schedule works very well for him and for me too. What are other babies doing these days? I love hearing about other routines or none-routines and seeing if I can take a bit and use it myself. I completely agree with the earlier talk about day time naps being important for a good night time sleep. A while back Alex was on 3 naps of about an hour and it just wasn't working for him, he kept waking up early in the morning. He still gets about the same amount of daytime sleep but it's spread out differently which has made a huge difference.

Eshay · 05/09/2006 10:52

Oh, Sk, I have started potty training Thomas too. We started last Friday and I gave up on Saturday! Then we thought of the wonderful concept of bribery (gummy bears) and it has worked a treat. He came home from nursery yesterday accident free. We do just sit him on the potty every hour or so - he's learning fast but not that fast this am I caught a poo in my hand! Yuck! still, he almost made it to the potty of his own accord so that was very good...

SleeySal · 05/09/2006 15:18

Hi AGain

Just a really quick question . . Baby Walkers - Anyone know of one that works well on carpet?

thanks

Sal

NappiesGalore · 05/09/2006 17:38

Gus stood up! pulled himself up to standing then just stood there with his arms out, looking about... yes ladies, i think we have a genius on our hands

cant believe our wee'est ones are all 7 months now! where does the time go??

NappiesGalore · 05/09/2006 17:42

Hi sleepysal - think mamas and papas do/did one that might work for you. very free-flowing castors... ours is a 'helicopter' design in orange (doesnt look like a helicopter, just said that on the box). bought that over a year ago tho so it may look different by now.

also, if your LO has little short legs (like mine) they do a walk'n'bounce one which can be adjusted to lower than most makes/brands of baby walker.

last time i checked, the mothercare ones looked stupid to me as the frame is so big, unless you live in a castle with huge dorrways, they'll never get anywhere in it. some people like it that way i guess!

Eshay · 05/09/2006 19:26

We bought our one through Kiddiecare two years ago. It's by a brand called MY CHILD. It works quite well on carrpet but I suppose it does depend on what sort of carpet you have. When i take it outside alex suddenly races away, until he hits the lawn. He still manages to drag it across the grass a bit so any carpet should work. It is fairly big but I don't know how big others are. I think big & wide is quite a good thing (if you have the space) since it makes them more stable.

NappiesGalore · 06/09/2006 17:07

oh poo bum. just ordered from jojomamanbebe and forgot to do my MN 10%discount code. doh

loomer · 06/09/2006 20:58

Wow Eshay, I'm amazed that Alex can go from 12:30 until 7pm without getting seriously grumpy... Scarlett's naps are currently around 9:30 for 2 hours, and then around 2pm for 2 hours. She doesn't seem to be able to manage more than about two and a half hours at a stretch of being awake. I aim for bedtime around 7pm, and then she's up for the day some time between 6 and 7 am. What's everyone else up to with routines?

Nappies, you definitely have a genius on your hands there, oh yes. Of course his lower centre of gravity probably helps too ... Scarlett had her 8 month check today, and is on the 98th percentile for length/height. I am blaming that for her wobbliness when upright.

Oh, and Lisa I forgot to say - Lola is absolutely adorable... she looks like such a happy little soul in her pics, what a cute thing!

hiya

rats, just lost my post somehow!

just a quickie as tesco are delivering (i hope) soon.

we've had a very hectic but fun summer, camping in wales, visiting rellies, and a wet but enjoyable extended family get together in cognac.

alex is doing great, just about crawling, eating lots, still bf, sleeping usually and just gorgeous, very smiley and sociable.

my big kids are back to school now, so hopefully i'll have more time to be in touch.

pnd seems to be all but gone now, thank god, and praise the lord for anti depressant meds you can take whilst bf. like you mentioned though georgie, they do nothing for my libido so i don't want to stay on them for too long.

love to all and hello to newbies.

x

Eshay · 07/09/2006 08:53

Oh Loomer, I may not have put it very clearl. Alex has a 2 hour nap from 12.30 - 2.30 but then he's up until 7. he does get a bit grumpy sometimes but he loves chilling out by the TV for a while when we eat and then his bath is such an exciting event that he forgets he is tired. I find it quite strange but he struggles more to stay awake for 2 hours between 7am and 9am then he does in the afternoon.

Yes, let's do schedules:

7am wake up; half weetbix with 6oz of formula
9-9.45 nap time
11.45 lunch: 8 cubes of mush plus some fruit & water
12.30 - 2.30 nap
2.30 5oz of formula
5pm dinner: 7 cubes plus yoghurt
6.30 bath
7pm: 6oz of formula & bed

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 07/09/2006 10:07

I've just dropped Moo off at achool

She was such a trooper. V excited but nervous as well. Looked an absolute angel in her uniform.

I managed to keep it together until I got round the corner and then shed a few tears.

Am so proud of her.

wherethewildthingsare · 07/09/2006 10:23

There you all are! Welcome to all the newbies and lovely to see you Lyra! Hectic here with back to school etc - Georgie you must be v proud, what a big girl! Am v proud of my big boy who has been chosen to do German this year (as well as French and Welsh) and is in the top maths set. Work is busy, have to go to London and Liverpool next week after 4 weeks sitting in the house, not looking forward to it!

Finn still has no teeth and no hair but can take comedy bites out of naan bread - a complete semi-circle! He can sit up alone and moves around getting bum in the air but not quite the front half of him off the ground!

Hm routine - well sort of on a nursery day

7am - wakes when dp has a shower! bf + weetabix, porridge or yoghurt and juice or fruit and water

9am - take him to nursery where he has toast

10am - he sleeps for 1/2 to an hour

12pm - lunch + water

2pm - has a bottle - only 6oz though, sleeps for another hour-ish

3pm - tea if at nursery

6pm - we have dinner altogether

7-7.30pm - bed and bf

4am - bf argh!!!

wherethewildthingsare · 07/09/2006 10:25

BTW makes no damn difference how long or when he sleeps in the day (we have experimented!) he still wakes in the night - usually before dawn while its still dark, I reckon it's the milk float! The good thing is that he will go back then till 7 or even 8 if no-one else is up.

Eshay · 07/09/2006 10:39

WTWTA, if you think he is waking up because he wants milk, have you tried giving him some water at that time instead? Or watered down milk to slowly ease him out of expecting some tucker at that time? We did that with Alex too when he was still waking in the night for a feed but then not very hungry at 7.
