We're back from the food festival. Nom, nom. We're laden down with lots of lovely stuff. Chilli sausages, curry sauces, pizza dough, far too much some cake, cider (well, we are in the West Country) hand reared local steak, local cheese, local wine. We blew the budget in about 10 minutes. Whoops. Could have spent 10 times as much though. Now desperately trying to get DC to sleep so we can go and eat some of it. Grin

wanna no experience but want to offer some luck. For confidence, think of the collective might of the quiche. Or channel your inner detective or VQ mama bear.

Impressed with dicks and others weight loss. Nursery have a photographer tomorrow so I booked a slot for some family pics. Now I will regret the last 10 years this evening's pigging out when I try and find something to wear.

MaMaPo · 26/04/2013 19:40

Gazelle, am hungry just reading that. Lucky you, in the west country.

PR, I've never been to Luxembourg - would you say it's worth the visit? It sounds like an interesting place to live. And I totally understand going to Belgium for the frites - but of course, also for the beer!? I went to Colmar a couple of years ago on a whim (we got a cheap flight to Basel and spent a day in both Freiburg and Colmar) and it was delightful. (Except for that fact that we happened to be in Freiburg on the same day as the Pope descended... utter madness). I also miss the sea especially - I've never lived near the mountains, but I miss the sunshine and the sea dreadfully living in London.

Got very sucked in at the children's bookshop - bought a counting book in French and English, Edward Lear's nonsense verse (lovely illustrated edition) and an omnibus of 4 Phillip Pullman stories. I cannot WAIT until C is old enough to get interested in books. I don't know what I'll do with myself if she's not a bookworm. continue to purchase the ideal kids' library and read it all myself

BigPigLittlePig · 26/04/2013 19:47

The cat is back. And very lively considering he has had major surgery. He is on a strict diet of mush, hourly. He has wolfed down 7 o clocks and been prowling for more ever since. I have so far removed a pipe cleaner from his grasp. Where does he find this stuff?!

Bless the vet, she has spent the past 48 hours at his side, even heating up his food (!) and all he has done is draw blood from her leg, and growl at her. She saved his life the ungrateful so and so.

Madam food festival sounds a-mazing. Love a bit of food porn.
Chasing I would be livid if someone marched off with F to prove a point. Beyond livid in fact.
Wanna good luck, and yes, think of the quiche - the quichey power has chased me out of toilets where I had gone to bf. May the force be with you lol

Clarella · 26/04/2013 19:49

medicine and muslins

PetiteRaleuse · 26/04/2013 20:01

MaMaPo I think it worth the visit. Even more so if you can hire a car to leave the city a little. Lux City is beautiful, but outide it you have river, vineyards and gorgeous villages like mine. I am biased though but Pennie had a trip here a few weeks ago and would be more objective.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/04/2013 20:04

Colmar is I think famous for its Xmas market, as is Metz which is my nearest big city in France (Luxembourg city is closer)

PetiteRaleuse · 26/04/2013 20:06

My two already have a great book collection. I love children's books and kept quite a few of mine.

Gazelle Envy that's all. I love food. In case anyone hadn't noticed.

Passmethecrisps · 26/04/2013 20:08

Sounds like fun clarella! Hope all is well.

Good luck wanna! Channelling your inner quiche is a great idea!

The castle looks lovely PR but I know what it is like to live in a beautiful but empty space. I grew up on a farm a few miles out of a very picturesque but small town. Most of it catered towards tourism so many businesses closed over winter or go out of business very quickly. I once came across someone from there on MN and we both virtually sized each other up.

My current house has a castle view from the garden and the Wallace monument from the bedroom. They could be better views but they are not bad really.

chasing just Angry Sad Angry and [fucking furious] for you. I am going to speak honestly here . . . Your SIL is a bitch. A total fucking bitch. You don't use babies as tools for power play, to exert your authority or to belittle someone else. I fucking hate her and your MIL and if I ever meet them I will . . . Be terribly cross because I am too anal to be openly rude to anyone. But the thought will be there!

fruitpastilles · 26/04/2013 20:08

Evening all, took me bloody ages just to catch up!
chasing I seriously don't know how you put up with you ILs they sound dreadful. Is MIL as bad as SIL? Well done for taking O back, I bet his eyes lit up when u took him off her!

wanna good luck with the interview day, it sounds like I used to do the same kind of job as chasing and the questions she has provided are pretty much what I'd have said too. Your S and my S share a birthday Smile

madam my tummy is rumbling now after reading your post.

Bit late on these ones but, VQ your gp sounds terrible but I'm glad J has some meds now and the correct formula, fc he will pick up a bit now.
det I used to do slimming world, a kitkat chunky is 13 syns Shock (did you say you nearly had a kitkat this morning?) I used to always have reduced fat cheddar because you can have 40g haha!

Had a lovely day today, spent it with my friend and her gorgeous 2 week old baby and our other friend who is due in July, S was entertaining them and they couldn't believe how much of a dirty laugh she has.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/04/2013 20:12

pass I love Stirling. It's one of my favourite places.

MissMummy1 · 26/04/2013 20:22

Chasing that is exactly why I have out my foot down on my uppity SIL and her obnoxious 8 year old staying with us in a couple of weeks. What a cow. I am furious on your behalf Angry

Lovely day with some lovely ladies, as per Smile

I have a view of the forth rail bridge from my back garden. The river from my bedroom.

ChasingDaisy · 26/04/2013 20:23

Pass that made me literally laugh out loud. You strike me as very polite Smile

Thank you for your anger on my behalf, I was fuming. O sobbed when I finally got him back and hid his head in my neck as they said goodbye Sad He is going through a clingy phase but it is definitely a power game for SIL. She is trying to prove a point. I am beyond caring what they think of me, O is all that matters.

fruit I was a call centre team leader Smile

YellowWellies · 26/04/2013 20:24

Hello all - just checking in. We had a lovely blether and catch up with Pass and P; MM and M and MrsWee and O.

Which managed to turn a day of shit sleep / early start / overtired (teething, reflux, cold, growth spurt, or just generally out of sorts????? I have no clue) / whinging baby into a really lovely day.

I swear he cheers up for company - beaming at the lady babies seems to be his new trick. Another new trick appears to be unlatching from my boob and waving said boob at poor blushing train ticket inspectors. Shock Blush

PR Yep there's a six month growth spurt and its meant to be a doozy.

ValiumQueen · 26/04/2013 20:29

I too can see the castle and the Mel Gibson monument from my bedroom. Just about.

MissMummy1 · 26/04/2013 20:30

wannabedomesticgoddess · 26/04/2013 20:41

Thanks for the pointers Chasing going to sit down tomorrow and write out answers to those. Get my mind thinking about it all again!

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes, I am sure I wont get it, but I have nothing to lose.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 26/04/2013 20:41

Mel Gibson monument?!!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 26/04/2013 20:42

Where is the party in Belfast? I am 20 minutes from Belfast :o

wannabedomesticgoddess · 26/04/2013 20:50

As for recommendations, what kind of things do you like to do?

MsJupiterJones · 26/04/2013 20:53

Hi, quick health question.

L has just vomited, not projectile but more than he usually does. Watery with milky bits but with a pink tinge. Enough to leave a mark on his babygro. He's not eaten anything red today, only a bit of mango this morning but it's not that colour at all. Other foods were banana, cucumber, a tiny bit of white fish & mashed potato.

He's been pretty grouchy today, I assumed teething and have given Dentinox and his chewy teether. Could be that he's chomped his gums raw and drawn some blood, or nicked the inside of his mouth with a nail. Can't see any signs of it though. Or... I don't know. Blood from his tummy? Oesophagus? Would you call NHS direct?

BigPigLittlePig · 26/04/2013 20:57

JJ blood from stomach will usually be dark brown/blackish as is partially digested by the stomach acid. Pink tinge would be from a minor bit of bleeding from gullet/mouth, if in fact due to that, rather than something else. I would keep an eye on him, give him some calpol and a cuddle. Obviously if you're worried get him checked though.

YellowWellies · 26/04/2013 20:57

Yes VQ, Izzy & Cacacaz we missed you today. We can report that MrsWee and Oran are lovely - and that JL has epic cakes which will be on my return to dairy binge - the other quichettes restrained themselves. So am I scary or are other people just not as cake obsessed?

Mel Gibson monument = William Wallace monument in Stirling. Stirling is lovely.
