Yeah it's all a bit weird this wedding. Her fiancé never wanted to get married but agreed on the proviso it wasn't a big do. It's a shame I think sil would have preferred something a bit bigger

Mckayz · 10/06/2013 13:34

I need a lottery win, so I can buy a new house and learn to drive and have a baby!!

I hate being broody.

Vagolajahooli · 10/06/2013 13:41

They waited 16 years and then have it on a Monday, well I guess at least the register won't be busy.

Arti get that coffee in yer, the spots are just normal skin flora settling in and colonising his skin. Both mine had it bad, and ds2's cleared up just in time for his eyebrow to hairline craddle cap to have it's moment in the spot light. He spent much of his first month like a small alien or lizard child. Not many close ups of him from those days. When he had the pox at 5 weeks it was actually an improvement.

Sorry about the pox Rubes, I can recommend poxclin it's nice and cooling. Just watch the calamine, it can actually cause more itching than it settles.

Rubena · 10/06/2013 14:59

Yeah, I know Vag- it's all I had in the cupboard as far as creams. Benadryl and paracetamol working well at the moment, and already got dh bringing a list including Poxclin, Piriton and Oats Grin She's in good form though - might be mainly as dc isn't here winding her up!
The very first spot that arrived was on her bum crack (right at the top) and I thought it was a little pimple so I was trying to squeeze it! Blush now it's a bit crusty and she tries to wipe her own bum on the toilet, and is quite distraught about it - wants me to "get it off"

Rubena · 10/06/2013 15:05

So fed up of Dora and Wonder Pets

Vagolajahooli · 10/06/2013 16:58

I can't stand wonder pets watched it too much when we first arrived here. Makes me twitch a little when they sing the song.

Piriton is the stuff, get it in her. Shame dh is going to br late, though if she's not too itchy yet probably ok.

I meant to say earlier, well done to your dh & his dp that is amazing, especially her first race, very impressed.

Rubena · 10/06/2013 18:10

Yeah dh on a late so usually doesn't finish till 8 but says he's hammering it. Hmm so maybe 7 but she seems ok on the Benadryl so far... More interested in ds farting due to over consumption of raisins.
Yes they were an impressive tri team - just to be clear it was my db & his dp not my dh! Fairly sure dh doesn't have a dp Wink

Rubena · 10/06/2013 18:11

I meant ibuprofen & paracetamol. She just had the Benadryl at night!

JamInMyWellies · 10/06/2013 18:31

I am losing the will to live. Trying to get DS1 to write Thankyou cards for his bday.

JamInMyWellies · 10/06/2013 20:02

Right back again.

Rubes really feel for poor DD. Oats in a muslin in the bath are great for soothing her skin. Poor lamb.

Dieds what a funny day to choose to get married. I do hope you are having fun though.

Arti I wouldnt worry about cutting out milk. They will go in a week or so.

Oh and to answer the finding out the sex. We are not sure. There is a little bit of us that wants to but also its so nice finding out after all the hard work of labour.

Oh and also DH has broken a couple of bones in his foot. The plonker was moving some paving slabs on to the allotment to make a path round our veg and the wheelbarrow tipped and they landed on his foot. But being the sensible chap that he is decide to carry on with our plans to have friends over Saturday night as he thought wine would numb the pain. But he woke up on Sunday with a raging hangover and still a knackered foot. So a trip to A&E and he is on crutches.

Rubena · 10/06/2013 20:42

Well dh not out until just now.... so much for hammering it. Anyway, dd gone to bed on the Benadryl again but seems happy. Wont' be able to pick up the Poxclin, as Boots is shut now, but he'll get Piriton on the way home. Didn't have oats so put bicarb in which I'm not sure did toss. They are more obsessed with wearing their swimming goggles in the bath and looking at the plug under the water Hmm
Getting oats with shopping order as dh eats them anyway!

Oh no Jam, typical male. Although having said that, a friend of mine broke her foot jumping off a couch doing a Tom Cruise Risky business move after large amounts of wine, then flew a trip before deciding it was hurting more than usual and having it looked at. Then 3 months of long term sick.

DH bashed his thumb with a hammer on Sunday, then it was throbbing so much last night, he made a hole in it to get the blood out [sick]

Rubena · 10/06/2013 23:41

Dh says he didn't get piriton as ingredients exactly the same in Benadryl except even better as the one I have from the US has a better sleepy aid to it. I didn't realise they were the same.
Anyway she's just vommed everywhere so complete clean up, bedding and pyjama change [sigh] very hot too. Poor thing ferling so grim. Still quite cheerful though. More spots too since putting her to bed!

DeidreBarlow · 11/06/2013 08:22

Rubes how is DD this morning?

Wedding was ok, a little odd as there was only a handful of people and I was driving. But SIL had a lovely day which is the main thing. Running late for school run so will pop back later

beans37 · 11/06/2013 08:35

It is amazing how the spots almost multiply in front of you, isn't it? How is DD this morning? Poor little thing. I second the next child coming down with pox 2 weeks on the nose later.

Arti, the acne will go of its own accord. Both mine had it horribly for quite a while, but it just faded. I wouldn't worry about changing your diet; you've got enough else on your plate. How is DD2 getting on now? Any better?

Artichook · 11/06/2013 10:21

I hope there was no more puke last night Rubes. Is your DD still cheerful this morning?

I have just discovered a white noise app. AMAZING. DS who fights sleep like a soldier and only sleeps in the day when pushed in a pram, is fast asleep next to me on my bed. I turned it on and he was asleep 20 seconds later. Love it. Download it now Beans and Jam.

Thanks for all the comforting words about DS' acne. It really is a bad case. He looks so awful. DD1 also had a bad case and she was also quite windy and unsettled at night and later she was diagnosed with cows milk protein allergy so it just got me thinking. I have done 48 hours without dairy now and the rash is much the same but DS' wind was a lot better last night and he only woke himself by farting once. So I am going to give it a few more days and see if that was just a fluke.

Ha, ha, he just woke with a massive fart as I wrote that but thankfully I ramped up the white noise and off he went again. I think boys fart more than girls.

Rubena · 11/06/2013 11:05

Urgh. Horrific night. She was hot with temp, a little itchy and saying they were sore. I must have been up with her from about 130-4. Off and on but more on. Am shattered. She's pretty happy this morning except ds keeps winding her up as he is bored, I just wish it was nicer weather.
Her face is covered as is her back and tummy and a few on her front and back bum but mainly torso. I showed my brother a photo and he thinks its a bad case. She is clearly getting shattered now.... And turning grumpy.

Rubena · 11/06/2013 11:06

No no more puke thank God.

ShadyLadyT · 11/06/2013 12:12

Morning dear ladies

Aaaah, sorry you are going through the mill with the pox Rubes. I honestly think it's quite a short period when it really drives them potty so it's a case of just getting through the next day and then you'll be over the hump.

Sorry to be AWOL - the financial jiggery pokery, work, being chair of the Pre-School committee...it just all munches into my time but I am coming back later this arvo for a big fat catch up.

Beans, you will remember I got my veins done after DD1 although one is coming back :-( So you can always pay for it to be eradicated later.

Glad Sybs' good advice worked for you, Arti.

Loved the scan pic, Jam - they do gladden the heart.

Right - can't write more now but WILL be back laters.

Hey, I went to see the Stone Roses on Sat night in Finsbury Pk! I didn't even feel my age because to be honest most of the audience were even older than me.

Honsandrevels · 11/06/2013 15:29

Hello everyone,

Sorry, I've struggled to catch up since my hols..

Congratulations arti! I loved reading through the birth. Amazing!

I've just had a call from nursery to say dd2 has a high temp. Chickenpox is rife at nursery at the mo. I've just made notes of Rubes suggested treatments just in case.

Back soon...

Vagolajahooli · 11/06/2013 18:07

I didn't know Benedryl was an antihistamine, lucky you didn't give both. I remember with both mine there was one really bad night and then they were fine. Poor little DD2. DS2 had the spots really bad but that may have also been because he was only 5 weeks old so less surface area for them all to fit. Really you only need to worry if they get infected, you have an inhouse medical professional to keep an eye on that.

Hi Lady, nice you got to Stone Roses. I ended up missing Muse in the end because the boys were sick. Dh bought me a tour hoody which was nice. He took a friends hubby who loved it, his wife shouted me a paedicure to thank me for the ticket.

Hi Hons.

Rubena · 11/06/2013 18:41

Yeah I guess it is Vag. I asked why he still got it instead of the Piriton and he said he read the box to make sure, ingredients are identical but Benadryl 20% cheaper. The difference with the US one I already had is, it contains diphenhydramine as well which I don't doesn't work for some kids and can have the opposite effect like Medised.

Well I'm broken today, not really from dd today, it was more last night and not getting sleep. She's not too bad distracted in the day. DH on route with Poxclin too. Will report back. Work have been really good and took be off my block of on call starting tomorrow. They are going to monitor next week.
The prob is if ds gets it in a week or so (which I want) mil still insists she will come over while I work, as she's never caught it in 60 whatever years, but dh tried to reiterate, that while it's a fair chance she won't get it (all her kids had it and brother as a child) if she does get it, it would be awful at her age. But she's stubborn, and it's not like we haven't warned her against it so may just say OK, (cause it works for us) but it's at your own risk and we don't agree?

Kids have had tea and an oatmeal bath. ds whined because the water was all milky and he couldn't see under with his goggles Hmm
Poxclin has arrived and she has been coated. We shall see.....

Hi Hons, hope dd gets / doesn't get it as desired. Oops gotta go...

Mckayz · 11/06/2013 20:28

Rubes, my MIL has never had the pox either. Despite her brother having it, DH and BIL and she was a primary school teacher for 40 odd years. I don't know another adult who hasn't had it.

DeidreBarlow · 11/06/2013 20:39

Rubes hope you have a better night. DS was awful for about 72 hours then gradually improved. Poor mite!

I'm off to bed we had a wedding Saturday night too and now it's all caught up and I can barely stay awake. DS however is still singing away, at least he doesn't get out of bed Grin

Mckayz · 12/06/2013 07:41

Hope you had a better night Rubes.

Rubena · 12/06/2013 08:28

Thanks Kayz, Deids,
It wasn't ideal. I was flogged so in bed at 930-10ish but dh was up working and dd was up from about 1045-130 he said and thats when I heard her.
I'm loving this Poxclin.
Big school meeting tonight.
How's dd hons? Any sign?
