Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not a top morning here: DD2 has woken with vomiting. I'm terrified we will all get it and DS is so tiny I'm scared what it will do to him. I can't even do my usual thorough disinfecting of the house because DS is refusing to settle except on me. Will I even be able to BF if I'm vomiting???? Agh. We really did not need this. I shared DD2's dinner last night so I bet I get it.

Nolda · 02/06/2013 08:32

Oh, No, Arti! I hope DD2 gets better soon and that no one else comes down with it.

Deids, good luck with the Shred. I think JM's DVDs are fab. I do tend to take it as a licence to eat cake though.

Mckayz · 02/06/2013 08:49

Must be going round the country as DD and myself were vomiting overnight.

She seems fine this morning but I feel awful. I'm so hungry too.

Arti, you can still BF, it's the best thing for them.

sybilfaulty · 02/06/2013 09:02

Kayz - can you eat something bland like toast to settle your tummy. Poor you and DD. Are the boys with you ? can you have a duvet day?

Arti, don't panic about the vomit. I know you find it very hard but it is not guaranteed that you will get it. Mine have been sick many times but I have been fine, so it is not automatic. If it's a bug, you might already be immune. It is also worth remembering that bugs can manifest themselves differently in different people so DD's vomit might mean a mild headache for you.

Deids, I do have the shred but am struggling to find the time. It is very good and nice 90s retro touch to do a DVD in the sitting room. Am a porker at the moment after my holidays and need to address this urgently.

Right, am off to bath. Have put nit lotion over the kids and will comb mine after I get out. Oh, the glamour. Back to work tomorrow too. Boo!

Mckayz · 02/06/2013 09:53

I've had half a slice of toast. But still feeling really queasy. I do have the boys and of course they are playing up.

DeidreBarlow · 02/06/2013 11:31

Oh arti try not to worry. Sybs is right is not guaranteed you'll get it. Both of mine have had random vomit episodes in the past month or so but I have been fine.

Kayz hope the nausea passes...your not up the duff are you??Grin

Mckayz · 02/06/2013 11:32

Good god no!!!

DS1 was sick Friday so I think we have a bug

Vagolajahooli · 02/06/2013 18:45

Bloody hell we have a thread virus. I woke this morning feeling aweful and was riding the porcelain bus all morning. I thought it was food poisoning, but no one I ate with is sick. But now it seems I caught it from Kayz & the mini artichokes.

Arti, sybs is right, you may not get it at all but if you do you will be able to produce milk, you will suffer & dehydrate before your milk does. Also if bub gets it he will be fine as long as you feed as he needs it. Even if he vomits immediately after he feeds, BM is so highly absorbable (not sure that is a word) he will have been taking it in as soon as it hit his tummy. Also your body can cleverly detect that he has higher fluid requirements and will produce more of the hydrating milk & less of the lipid rich milk.

I stupidly just ate dinner (it was DHs signature dish, tofu tamarind- delish) & now I feel icky again. First meal all day probably shouldn't have been such a rich sauce. But when I'm feeling better later I'm going to have vegemite toast, Sybs has made me feel like toast

Artichook · 02/06/2013 21:00

Oh Kayz and Veg I am sorry you are both ill. Nobody else has fallen in this house yet but I'm fully expecting it overnight. Poor DS has terrible wind tonight and won't settle, he screams unless fed constantly so not a great night to get ill.

Deids, I did 30 Day Shred, it's amazing if you stick with it but by Gosh is it hard. I nearly cried several times in week one.

Any progress on house hunting Nolda? Is your DZd now happy in her school?

Mckayz · 02/06/2013 22:01

I had some food and now feeling ill again. I really don't want another night like last night.

Vagolajahooli · 03/06/2013 10:19

Hey are you this morning Kayz? How did your night go Arti? I'm finally feeling better though still have a moist, productive cough (nice). Was hoping to get out for a run this morning, but instead I'm looking after two poorly boys. Well one poorly boy and another who is riding the wave of his brother feeling unwell. Ds2 says his throat is sore but I'm not buying it. But ds1 is definitely unwell, he is really unsteady on his feet, has a tummy ache and his pop offs are making my eyes water.

Mckayz · 03/06/2013 15:38

Not too bad Vag. I hope your boys are better soon.

Rubena · 03/06/2013 16:00

Sorry to hear of all the sickies. My two are on the mend but had similar. Awful croup like coughs and now dh has an awful cold.
Am at the gym waiting for the seniors aqua fit class to finish so I can swim Grin
Deids did you get up this morn? I didn't Smile

Nolda · 03/06/2013 16:40

Oh dear, so many poorly ones. I hope everyone is feeling better very soon.

Deids, did your DVD arrive?

We've had our offer accepted on the house over the road from our rented place. It is lovely with a kitchen/dining/family sitting room spanning the width of the house and overlooking the garden. The vendors know where they are going but the owner of that house has still to find somewhere, so it's not a complete chain yet.

Arti, thanks for asking after DD. She is much more settled at her school and I feel now that it was the change rather than the new school itself which she didn't like. I had a cuddle with my cousin's 6 month old daughter on Saturday and thought of you with your newborn. It seems such a long time ago that DS was that age and I feel I've forgotten everything about babies!

DeidreBarlow · 03/06/2013 19:34

DVD didn't show up...shame! Rubes when it does ill have you up at the crack of dawnGrin

I did however do some stomach crunches and 10 mins in the trampoline. I'm goosed

JamInMyWellies · 03/06/2013 19:49

Phew! 6yr old birthday tea done. Now collapse.

Rubena · 03/06/2013 20:07

Great news Nolda, and not too far to move!
So I came home from the gym and had a hypo. Vomited. Felt like crap.
Forced some sugar down. Have got aching teacher arm from the swimming. My db and his dp have inspired me. Did really well in their team triathalon on the weekend and they have the ironman this Sunday. Going to follow them on that iron trac app.
Right. What to cook. Have been having tuna literally all week. Could not find it all anywhere today. Is there a national Tuna shortage?
We used to get fish delivered but the company we used no longer do the same stuff. Deids do you mind me asking what price you pay for salmon from your fish delivery guy? Wonder how it compares to prices roun ere.

Rubena · 03/06/2013 20:08

Ah crossed. Right that's a deal Deids!
Happy birthday jamboy!

Vagolajahooli · 03/06/2013 20:26

10 mins on the trampoline lawks Deids I'd have lost my under carriage after that long.

Rubes I guess it means you worked out hard, just make sure you're getting enough protein close enough to your work out and maybe take a piece of fruit to eat afterwards & a handful of almonds. I used to have that trouble because I can't eat before gym because I feel sick when I work out if there is even a smidge of food in my belly.

We bought a long weights bar and some weights, I went mad with it today because I couldn't get out for a run. I have a month & a half until Australia and I want to look an awful lot leaner than I do now.

Boys are still a bit iffy, we have 'Muse' tickets for tomorrow and the boys were supposed to be staying at a friend's house overnight but I don't want to expose them to other kids and make them sick. So we're looking at our options.

DeidreBarlow · 03/06/2013 20:28

Rubes did you exercise on an empty stomach? I get like that if I've not eaten for ages before exercise

I get our fish from a company called Regal Fish...they do fresh & frozen but even the frozen stuff is 100% tastier than supermarket fish. I think my salmon is about £18 for 6 fillets and they are a good size

DeidreBarlow · 03/06/2013 20:30

X post vag. I had to empty the bladder before hand just to be on the safe side! Don't forget though both my children came out if the sunroof

DeidreBarlow · 03/06/2013 20:32

Vag hope the boys improve before your concert. Are they very sickly or just quite tired? Both mind have been whining today and grumbling about being a big ill. But both of them are just exhausted from the holidays and too baby late nights

Rubena · 03/06/2013 20:48

Well I had lunch at noon and went to the gym at 3. I exercised on no carbs (it unusual) but yeah was at the gym for an hour and a half. Wouldn't say I exercised hard, just haven't for ages! I have hypos all the time. Did driving once after a flight and dh had to come get me as I'd vomited and was jittery. Sometimes wonder if I'm diabetic or something. I know I don't drink enough water (tho did at gym) but prob not enough. I don't eat much sugar generally but dh just reckons I used up all my carbs I had in me as it didn't happen until I got home. Luckily.
That sounds good Deids. Will check them out if they are nationwide.

Rubena · 03/06/2013 20:51

Sorry meant to write (not unusual). I generally don't eat carbs after noonish but do for breakfast although at the moment I'm doing none at all as I want to shift a few kgs I gained recently and have a bikini to put on shortly! So I'm sure It's that.

Rubena · 03/06/2013 20:51

Last time it happened when driving dh showed up armed with chocolate at the scene. Smile
