Ahhhh....I'm ill. LO is ill. He woke at 3.30...
I've got a work function in London tonight. 3 hrs driving for a 1.5hr event plus £45 babysitting and £30 diesel!

At least we're all having shitty nights together!

I'm going to start weaning soon I think. Milk alone is clearly not keeping him going at night anymore.

AppleCrumples · 14/05/2013 18:11

Thats true happy this thread makes me feel a bit less desperate knowing its not just us!

Finally got some calpol in at lunchtime then Ivy slept on me for 1.5 hours and when she woke up she was a different baby! Smiling and chatting but still.snotty and drooling. She is still.not well but at least i have hope! :)

Also i saw the tooth today!

Ds2 was perfectly healthy but at least he was sble to help me otherwise i might have starved! Ivy was unputdownable all day!

Hope everyone else having a better day x

nananaps · 14/05/2013 18:31

Hi there, i am a bit of a late starter here and havent had the chance to read these all the way through.
I had my boy 17th Jan, he wasnt due till 1st Feb so early.

Im really just looking for advice and support as its been 10 years since my last baby and i have forgotton so much.

We referr to our boy as MB (miracle baby) as that is just what he is Smile
He isnt rolling over or anything yet but hands are constantly in his mouth. When will teeth begin to show up?
He giggles, chuckles, "chats" and shouts at me!

I am breast feeding and that is going well.
He was having a bottle of formula in the evening but has been refusing this for about a month now, so he just has breast milk. Refuses a dummy, so havent bothered trying again.

Not sleeping through (HV says once he is weening he will sleep through) some nights its every hour feeding, some 3 hours. He is only a tiny wee chap.

I struggle to keep him occupied. He has toys over his change mat, and i talk to him, we go for walks in the pram but i wonder what you all do?

Routine, other than a loosly followed bed time routine, he has not yet established a routine. Kinda naps in the day, feeds when i just dont know what else to do with him, (he is a happy boy, doesnt cry much at all) Should a routine emerge soon with him?

I am thoroughly enjoying him. I had severe PND with my older son, there is no evidence of that this time thank goodness.

I have forgotton SO much this time round! Thanks for advice and guidance x

lollipoppi · 14/05/2013 19:42

Welcome nananaps Smile
I do the same to keep dd occupied, I'm not sure there is much else we can do at this age!
DD has a little routine going on mainly just consists of eating playing and sleeping in a 3 hour cycle

Apple glad ivy is a bit happier bless her

Octane how are you feeling? Did you make it to your works function?

Lostbobbles · 14/05/2013 20:12

Welcome Nana Grin

Apples good to hear Ivy on the path to recovery.

Octane, hope you and LO are feeling better and works event goes ok (if you made it)

Having a nightmare getting this mini monkey to sleep tonight. She is getting so naughty about being in her cot. Has so far woken every 5-10mins since 7pm. Her chest sounds very congested but not sure if its virus/cold or teeth causing it. No temp though.

Baby group today was good, she was really giggling at the little finger puppets during the music session was so lovely (melts my heart) Grin still not excusing the sleepless nights though

Anyway got two hot dates lined up tonight one with the iron and one with the hair dryer! Living life in the fast lane Wink

AppleCrumples · 14/05/2013 21:34

Well all asleep but what a crap evening!'dd1 bedtime fell apart so back to her behaving badly for attention i'm so tired that i lost my rag and instead of behaving like an adult i shouted at her for waking Ivy up. Feel really bad especially as when i calmed down ( and calmer Ivy back down) and just put her in her bed and left without talking she settked doen quite quickly. :( Judt need to keep repeating tomorrow is another day! To.cap it all ds2 was offbut not ill whilst ds1 has cold like Ivy and probably needs a day off. Arrrggggh!

Just hoping Ivy on the mend, was so happy to see her happy this afternoon :)

Lost there is clearly something going about at the moment! Babygroup soundee so cute :)

Welcome Nana. You sound like you are doing well. Apart from the school run your day sounds like mine. If you want to get out with ds you coukd try rhyme time or local toddler groups. Oh and they can teethe for months before anything shows up...sorry! I.hope you are enjoying your miracle. Whatever works for you is the right thing. How old is your elder dc?

Octane hope your feeling better.

Hoping everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight. Managed to get more calpol into Ivy so hoping fir a better night. Ooh and she is finally in a cot. My little chunk actually looks quite small in there! :)

Lostbobbles · 14/05/2013 21:52

Apples I had one of those shouting moments earlier with DD1, I had just got Lois to sleep and DD1 shouts for me from the other room, setting Lois off screaming again Angry. Feel so guilty after as she is only 4 and sometimes I think I expect too much from her Hmm

Have you tried nurofen with Ivy, I find It goes down a lot easier than calpol with Lois.

Speaking of calpol, since when have they been doing the syringe like nurofen, only found out the other day!

AppleCrumples · 14/05/2013 22:00

Thanks lost glad its not just me. Agree i sometimes forget she is only 4 and her worlds been turned upside down recently. This parenting lark is hard!

I.have a tickle in my throat now..thats not a goos sign is it?!

Not sure how long they've had the syringe but will get some nurofen and try that.

Pascha · 14/05/2013 22:16

Hi Nana I remember your pregnancy thread last year. Welcome to the madhouse. My boy is tiny too, born 5th jan so 18 weeks old now. He is much happier upright than he ever is lying flat and hates being on his tummy with a passion so we spend the day in the jumperoo or swing seat, my shoulder or a sling or bouncing on a knee.

We've got the tiniest hint of a tooth point in the upper gum and he is sleeping a bit better now thank god! We had a bit of a revelation this weekend when he slept much much easier in the travel cot than he ever has in the crib so that has come down since getting home and the travel cot is currently taking up all the spare space in our bedroom til we can get SIL's cot assembled.

I was a bit Hmm when Dan was awake from 11.30pm til 2.30am last night, all that sleeping in the car in the day didn't really help. I wanna go back on holiday now to get over the first one.

Pascha · 14/05/2013 22:18

I'm not faffing about with food for at least another month - 6 weeks. Too much else to do in life to deal with thrown brocolli and porridge strewn floors earlier than necessary Wink

Meringue33 · 15/05/2013 02:55

Oh, is this the four month sleep regression??

Meringue33 · 15/05/2013 04:57

Guess it must be Hmm

mrsbugsywugsy · 15/05/2013 05:48

I guess so meringue Brew

Lostbobbles · 15/05/2013 06:26

Omg this baby is defunct when it comes to sleep. Yawnnnnn......

glorious · 15/05/2013 06:53

Not in our case I don't think (born 31st January ).

It seems to be her bowels. She's gone from a several times a day girl to once every two days but she has the most horrific wind. So most of the night she's thrashing about and I'm rubbing her tummy. She's bicycling her legs already. I do wind thoroughly after every feed but I think this is from her digestion. Any ideas?

Louise85 · 15/05/2013 08:23

Brew so glad we all having bad nights & not all got it together...I have a to-do list longer than my arm - should have just cracked on with it when I was up at 12, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc - I'd still be as shattered, but at least would get something done..

Off to the docs this am - think cold has turned into chest infection (or croup - can they get it this little??)

lollipoppi · 15/05/2013 08:25

Glorious have you tried gripe water? Works a treat!
Put the dose in a bottle teet and just let her suck it (if she will) if not then a syringe x

Pascha · 15/05/2013 09:24

The boy was totally soaked right through to the sleeping bag at 4.30am. Time to size up the nappies I think.

Off to playgroup this morning.

Lora1982 · 15/05/2013 09:31

Congrats meringue how exciting!

Dp pissed me off last night with his drinking which turned into snorer bed hog. No problem with him drinking i just hate trying to get im bed nd hes too out of it to move esp when im sleep deprived anyway! so this morning when dexter woke u i basicallyy told dp to sod off and me an D stayed in bed.

Hes learnt raspberries and hes loving it. No rolls yet but he occasionally goes in a circle round the mat

AppleCrumples · 15/05/2013 09:33

Pascha i sized up by accident and even though she still explodes they actually contain it now. Has saved me a ton of washing!

Sorry to hear others suffering at night. Ivy finally slept last night and is much happier this morning! Hope everyone else is getting better now.

Birdies · 15/05/2013 09:45

pascha are you doing the double nappy trick? Since I did that, no leaks at all (despite the current seven feeds a night). I use a 3 plus a back to front 5. She seems pretty comfy!

Hi nana. There's some books on play ideas but I end up feeling guilty or not doing them all. But if you were interested, there's 'Clever Baby' and this one, which I quite like

www.amazon.co.uk/Babys-First-Skills-Miriam-Stoppard/dp/1405335157/ref=la_B000APA8WU_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368607396&sr=1-1

Another bad night here. I think it's partly cos I'm not wearing ear plugs anymore (due to the deafness incident!) so I hear everything and pick her up whenever I hear her. Oh well.

Glad ivy is feeling better apple

CreepyCrawly · 15/05/2013 09:48

How annoying Lora. Good on you for staying in bed!

Glad Ivy is on the mend apple

Welcome nana

DH and me had a bit of a heart to heart last night. I told him I'm feeling like he doesn't want to bother with us anymore, and he said he's feeling a bit left out because N is such a mummy's girl. I also told him I'm sick of him being on his phone 24/7 but that hasn't had any affect this morning. Is there an iPhone rehab?!

BuntyCollocks · 15/05/2013 09:57

We all seem to be in the shit sleepwise ATM, eh?

I think both my babies are ill. DS asked (!) to go to bed at 6 - managed to stretch him out until his usual 7.30, but he has a little croaky throat, too.

Dd went to sleep at 8 - unheard of - and was up at 12, had a feed and was wide awake. It took over and hour of rocking her in the hammock to get her back to sleep. Then she was back up at 4, didn't want fed, so
I brought her into bed with us and she went sound until DS bounded in at 7:45. She's back sleeping now. Not convinced the ear infection is gone, so I'm dragging her back to the doctor.

It was her naming ceremony at the weekend, and it went great. She was a star, and everyone had a great time. I seem to be incapable of having a photo taken where I don't have a huge double chin, and whilst I'm a bit tubby post baby ATM, DH assures me I don't actually look like that. Sigh.

Still trying to get tidied and everything out away after our weekend up north. I love going back to our families, but bloody hell, I hate the unpacking and putting away. ESP as the DC get spoiled, and we come away with far more than we went with.

octanegirl · 15/05/2013 10:09

Welcome Nana and yes we do all seem to be having awful nights...
Work thing was OK. However when I got back the babysitter said he'd flat out refused to take the bottle of EBM and just screamed, so he effectively went to bed with no dinner :(
It's a bit of a nightmare if he's going to refuse a bottle from now on....
