T hashis first cold, including having lost his voice :( Poor wee man, though its been kind of cute listening to the little squeak that's replaced his ear piercing squeal that has been his primary form of communication recently.
Last night was awful. Enough said. I slept from 9-11pm and 4-6am, T slept a bit more, but was so unsettled with his cold, it's made the reflux not silent any more. I went through two changes of pjs and T had one change.

MaMaPo · 02/05/2013 18:44

Some crap news around with sleep, teeth, colds and the wrong person getting the job (pidj - bad luck).

C had a weigh in today - 17lb 5oz at not quite 5 months. She's a big girl. Hasn't quite got the hang of rolling yet but she's so close! We started weaning, just baby rice, today. I'm already looking forwar to her being able to participate more in meals.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/05/2013 18:50

Roaring like a lion at dd makes ds cry Blush

WLmum · 02/05/2013 19:46

Oh stacks just when you thought it couldn't get any worse! Colds always make T extra sick. Have you got the cot at a decent angle and I find baby olbas oil quite effective.

mama out 'little' ones must be about the same size - I did a crude weigh on the scales with me yesterday and the difference was 17lb! She'll be 5 months on the 18th.

I'm not looking forward to trying to settle without the boob later Sad but its got to be done. What with still caring for my mum almost daily I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. My own chores and admin are slipping further and further behind. I know extreme tiredness is not going to help my ability to cope. Wish DH wasn't working til 11 tonight.

WLmum · 02/05/2013 19:56

And T has been so sweet today. Napping easily (pram and car), smiling, chatting, wriggling. It's as if she knows!

IsThatTrue · 02/05/2013 20:00

No spotty the email said by tomorrow Hmm

DS is so very happy as long as he's constantly being held and entertained!

Ds1 has a friend over so I'm trying to facilitate pizza making to make it look like I'm not a lazy arse parent and don't ignor my children

^just found this message from 4pm still indent on my phone ds2 distracted me. Hmm

Ds isn't going to sleep he's all smiles Hmm

Hmm I need some nappies but was hoping they'd arrive before I had to buy some....

Good luck WL are you going to feed at initial wake up then put her down so she isn't latched on for hours? I think there comes a point where you have to think about the rest of the family too. I feel a bit like that as ds is only happy for such short periods I'm always saying to poor dd 'hang on I need to sort ds out first'.

Stacks · 02/05/2013 20:31

Today was actually an easy day. T was really calm all day with his cold, so sat on the sofa watching tv with be most of the day between feeding. He had some crying around feeding, but I think it was from having a sure throat so easy to 'forgive' and feel sorry for him - especially with just the little squeaks. He's been quite smiley with his cold too, and slept lots. I didn't get much done, or a chance to nap (just let T sleep on me rather than risk putting him down flat in his pram) but I had a good day regardless. Just hoping tonight is better than last night.

Pidg - sorry you didn't get the job :(
WL - good luck tonight, will your DH be helping?

T was 15lb 5oz at last weigh in at 17w. Still sitting on 50th percentile. He's into 6-9m vests, trousers and sleep suits now! Having trouble keeping up with his growing. So glad all his clothes so far have been loaned/eBay. He's hardly worn most of them. His top half is still lagging behind though, can still wear some 0-3m tops!

WeeJo08 · 02/05/2013 20:40

YAY!! We are Auntie & Uncle again! Grin We have another beautiful nephew Grin

2blessed · 02/05/2013 20:58

congrats weejo and family.

tucked up in bed feeding ds after dp bathed him. He's drifting off but will wait awhile before putting him into his basket. He was very clingy this afternoon, none of the smiles and chats I'm used to poor babs.

I'm also doing the pampers product test, hope they come tomorrow.

Hope your ds has a good night sleep stacks. I also swear by junior olbas oil.

WeeJo08 · 02/05/2013 21:24

Thanks 2blessed!

WLmum · 02/05/2013 21:31

Yes spotty I am going to feed her when she wakes but then put her down after 30ish mins when she's had a chance to fill up and is sleepy, but then if she wants to come back again straight away I'm going to try really really hard to settle her without the boob. I'm not expecting much sleep tonight as I've always been straight to boob.

No stacks its all going to be me! He's got to work until 11 again tomorrow so best if he can get some rest. And he'll only annoy me by not doing it right the way I want.

Awfully the monitor alarm has been going off tonight but I'm sure it's just not sensitive enough as I watched and listened to her breathing while it went off twice! I think if she's really flat on her belly it has trouble sensing her breathing, and its supposed to be better on solid surfaces rather than slats so have slipped an lp under it - retro!

Hoorah weejo.

WeeJo08 · 02/05/2013 21:50

Where do you put the monitor, WLMum?

SeymoreButts · 02/05/2013 22:36

So down at 6:30pm, feed at 9pm, 11:30pm, 2:30am, 5am and giant poo at 6:30pm. This is a standard night for us. You can almost set your watch by it. DH has gone away again, he's only just got back. He was gone at 6:30 when I got up, I scratched my head for a bit!

Sorry pidj, that's really annoying. Do you think it was a done deal already?

WL I hope it goes well tonight. I'd had about 3 hours sleep the night before last and was a terrible mum yesterday. Apart from being quite clumsy I had a really short fuse and really upset DS1 at one point. Sad I felt awful.

Oh Stacks I really hope you get some more sleep tonight and DS is feeling better soon.

Congratulations WeeJo!

2blessed I hope DS isn't feeling too bad after the jabs. Maybe he'll have a monster sleep. It happens sometimes for us!

Isthat I'm impressed with pizza making for a playdate!

WLmum · 02/05/2013 22:48

The sensor mat is between the cot slats and the mattress.

halestone · 02/05/2013 22:55

WL hope it goes easier than you think.

2blessed and Ispy hope your LO's are ok after their jabs.

Congratulations Aunty WeejoGrinThanks

Sorry Pidj.

Hope the cold isn't too bad stacks and that he soon gets over it.

I have the whingest velcro baby ever today its so hard work i can't figure out whats wrong with her. The only time she didn't whinge was when we took her out in her pram and she could nose at everyone.

Secondsop · 02/05/2013 23:57

Hello all. Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I can't keep up with what's happened to whom so have just picked up on themes:

  • cots: Z is in a cot from kiddicare, for about a month now. He sleeps well in it. When he outgrows it, the proper bed is already in his bedroom (so cot and bed will be there together for some time) and I'll get one of those pop up barrier things that attach to the bed so that he can't roll out. The bedroom is our smallest one so a bit of a squeeze with both cot and bed but the bed is a nightmare to move or dismantle. Plus if he has trouble settling when we move him in there, one of us can sleep in there with him.
  • have I told you about my baby monitor app? Rather than buy a monitor I downloaded "best baby monitor" and it's great. I have 2 iPads (long story) so have one upstairs and one next to me downstairs transmitting the video.
SpottyTeacakes · 03/05/2013 00:12

Is it dangerous for ds to sleep on my chest?? It's the only way I can see me getting any sleep tonight Sad

2blessed · 03/05/2013 03:13

Ds sleeps on my chest during the day sometimes but never overnight, don't know how safe it is. Hopefully you're catching a few hours now Grin

Better sleep tonight than today hales?

Ds up for a feed. Put him on the mat to nappy change, he smiles at me then bursts into tears! Happily feeding now.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/05/2013 03:16

I got a couple of hours dp managed to get him down. Poor ds has got such a horrible cough.

2blessed · 03/05/2013 03:18

spotty think I'd worry about rolling over and my instincts/reflex not kicking in. Sorry didnt mean to sound judgey Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 03/05/2013 03:24

That's ok You didn't sound judgy! I'm not worried about rolling over but worried about him over heating

IsThatTrue · 03/05/2013 06:13

spotty I've slept with DS on my chest sometimes. I just don't have any quilt/blankets on when I do, although its normally not intentional (fall asleep winding).

Well last night I battled to get the young teething boy to bed. And ended up having a headache and feeling sick by the time I cooked dinner at 10. I threw up before and after dinner and still feel nauseous now. DS has co slept all night as I haven't been able to sit up to feed at all. He's slept quite well though! Only woke 3 times I think

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 03/05/2013 07:15

Oh no IsThat I hope you feel better soon.

Ds woke three times too I think but took ages to go back to sleep each time.
