Wow a few days away & too much to catch up on. Who knew moving house with a baby & toddler could be so stressful Hmm!
Only 3 hrs in 18 months that's impressive! I unfortunately fall into the guilty working mum category Sad as on weeks were i was on night shifts I'd only see ds for less than an hr a day. Luckily though I work part time & weeks of nights don't happen too often so still get lots of quality time with ds plus we're lucky that we get so much mat leave in uk. In the US there's no obligation to offer it!!
Going to give dd her first taste of baby rice tomorrow & we'll see how it goes. Hopefully she'll be a greedy guts like ds and weaning will be a breeze. Although till 6 months I'm going very slowly & will offer milk first before anything else so more a taster menu till then Wink. Also hoping to carry on my morning & evening bf as she still seems to enjoy them despite there being hardly any milk there.
For the Facebook group- how does it work? Is it a private group or can all your other friends see it?
Are we doing the Guildford meet up?

SkiBunnnnny · 20/04/2013 00:35

Ddas moving is stressful enough when you have no kids!
I'm pretty excited to start weaning, thought we might wait until 6m and give BLW a go. Although DH doesn't really seem to understand the concept... Also MiL gave us a fancy Baby Bullet food processor that comes with the wee tubs and ice cube tray and everything so I might do a bit of purées as well to get to use that.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 00:49

Ski you could use it for fruit purée to add to breakfasts and for mashed potato on the nights where you want chips Wink

Ddas looks like it will be a Guildford meet Smile fb group us completely secret no one can search it or see what you post apart from us. You need to pm honey your details so she can friend request you then add you.

SkiBunnnnny · 20/04/2013 01:13

Thanks spotty, I'm sure it will come in handy either way. It also has a milling blade for making baby rice and other cereal which is pretty cool!

IsThatTrue · 20/04/2013 02:05

If we meet after the 10th may its easier for me as DH is away for 2 weeks so I have unlimited access to the car rather than having to take him to work before the school run. Although its not the worst thing in the world!

Bubbly at grand reopening of my nail salon tomo and then lunch with my best friend. Yay :)

Happy to meet after 10th May if others are?

I feel utterly dreadful and getting worse since this evening- swollen tummy and sick. Not sure if it's food related but if so will it pass on to O? He seems okay for now but I feel like hell. Good thing dh is here over the weekend but rather hope it goes away as we're supposed to be off to my parents overnight.

Also, O's bcg injection site is now really red and swollen looking. The health visitor said it was fine a few weeks ago but it's getting worse. Should I go back to them?

IsThatTrue · 20/04/2013 04:17

If its not gone down after a few weeks its definitely worth it being checked. Never hesitate to get something checked if you aren't side/are unhappy about it! As for your illness, are you still bfing? (Sorry I can't remember) if you are any antibodies will pass automatically, so even if its a virus O will be fine. Be extra vigilant with hand washing etc and I'm sure O will be fine. Sorry you feel shite, I hope you're better to go to your parents.

Side?! Sure

OP posts:
utopian99 · 20/04/2013 05:37

Thanks isthat, we're still exclusively bfing so good to know. Weirdly it seems to have helped the sleep regression as he slept from 10-2.15 then 2.45-5.33, still in his cot! (I managed to get to sleep by 3.15, still feeling grim though and woke up with Boob of Solid Rock; he's obviously been boosting my supply!
Will be off to hv on Monday methinks for the bcg lump.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 06:01

How come some of your babies have had the bcg? I thought they stopped doing that?

WE HAD SLEEP!! Ds went down after his last feed at 1:15 and has just woken up.... That's almost five hours!

Secondsop · 20/04/2013 06:20

spotty they still offer the BCG some areas where there's a chance of contact with people who are not immune, eg areas with immigration from countries where TB hasn't been eradicated. They don't routinely offer it in my area but as there's a decent chance little Z will be spending time with relatives from Sri Lanka then I was able to get it for him.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 06:32

Oh ok thanks Smile I remember I had mine at 14 but I think my little sister was either the last year to have it or the first year not to.

Where I live the immigration level is very low, in fact apart from when we went to Spain last year I don't think dd has ever met someone of a different race Shock

utopian99 · 20/04/2013 07:14

O was born when we were still in the Manchester so we got all sorts of things due to the stats being affected by immigrants to the city. On the whole I'm all for immunisations, just worried by the way this one's looking..

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 07:21

I always thought the bcg got red and swollen, scabbed over and then fell off leaving a scar about the size of a 5 pence piece. My dad's is the size of a pound coin but mine is hardly noticeable. My dad's got infected though so definitely worth getting checked out Smile

PurplePidjin · 20/04/2013 07:30

R's 6mo cousin in That There London has had all sorts of jabs he hasn't been offered, because it's 99% white round yurr Wink

Spotty R is the one of a "different race" :o

Secondsop · 20/04/2013 07:49

utopian how long ago was the bcg? Z's took a fair while to scab over (in TWO places because of the way they slide the needle in under the skin) and eventually heal up, but I'd get it checked out if it seems sore; his was more dry.

I've just had to bring Z into the bed for cuddles as he burst into tears when I coughed.

IsThatTrue · 20/04/2013 07:58

Awww sensitive little soul seconds

I would expect it to take less than 2 weeks. When I had mine at school it was about 10 days.

They don't offer it round here even though we're in Croydon borough.

OP posts:
ddas · 20/04/2013 08:22

To be fair we actually got movers to pack everything and myself & the kids went to mil whilst it was being done so has only been the stress of unpacking & making sure nothing unsafe around for ds to get into mischief!

The bcg is still given in higher risk areas universally but in others they are slowly changing it from a postcode decision to only giving it to those of certain ethnicities. I'd see your gp rather than your Hv about it utopian as more likely to be able to say if infected or just within normal limits for the bcg and if there is concern can prescribe something for it.

Glad to hear of more sleep last night. Can't complain about dd's sleep but we seem to be unable to make it past 5am without her wanting to come into bed with us. She wakes up, cries, looks at us and when she sees she has our attention smiles but if you look away she starts crying again until you pick her up and bring her into bed at which point she snuggles up and falls asleep immediately! Not sure if we'll have to move her to her own room in next couple of months as it's ok now but once I got back to work in August know will struggle with the disrupted sleep plus if she's like ds once she's mobile she won't settle as quickly being in bed with us.

2blessed · 20/04/2013 09:41

Morning all,
Not posted for a while bit of a stressful week Hmm
Sorry to hear about lo's not settling. We've had a few nights where ds has decided to wake up at about 3 but don't think we've reached the dreaded sleep regression stage yet..

Ds had bcg when he was 2 weeks old. My gp surgery/health centre has a weekly bcg clinic.

Interesting reading about weaning, I bought a box of baby rice yesterday that we're going to start ds on. We'll be doing mixed weaning - pureeing and finger stuff, whatever works for us really. Really looking forward to it, but not the mess!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 10:14

I got ds some dummies to try as he is hit and miss with his thumb now. He is chomping then sucking it. Not sure he's too impressed though, much prefers my finger!

IsThatTrue · 20/04/2013 10:17

I still can't get DS to take his dummies since this bloody cold! I wish I could to shut up his screechy noise! Lol

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 10:21

He's happily sucking on it now but I feel really sad as it's so cute when he sucks his thumb! Tesco sent us a pink and a purple one Grin

SkiBunnnnny · 20/04/2013 10:29

Yay for sleep spotty!

Has anyone had anything like this before? It started off as a crick in the side of my neck and now I have pain running down my neck through my shoulder bled around my ribs and under my left boob. It's not overly painful but difficult to find a comfortable position to lie in and starting to be uncomfortable to hold LO in my left arm or feed on left side. Very strange...

SpottyTeacakes · 20/04/2013 11:03

Trapped nerve ski? Confused

Ds won't go to sleep he just keeps smiling at me. He was asleep for all of five minutes before dd had a strop and woke him up Angry

SkiBunnnnny · 20/04/2013 11:08

Haha, blade not bled!
Maybe spotty, how do I fix it if it is?
