Thanks for the update!

I'm also enjoying just watching Tom sleep and the funny faces he makes when he's filling his nappy!

Also love watching dd interact with him and the way he looks at her whenever she's in the room - so special! Guess i'd better make the most of it before they start tearing each other's hair out Grin

Tumblemum · 28/05/2006 13:55

I just adore my dd she is so lovely

but I am sooo tired,

hope that you are all having a lovely weekend, it has been a tread to have dh around for me

squidgeymiller · 30/05/2006 10:16

love everything about my dd - the funny faces, the smell, knowing that she depends totally on me and my DH.

Am even enjoying BFing at the moment - however, she's cluster feeding again so that may not last long!

Xena · 31/05/2006 17:28

Hello I wasn't around on the antenatal thread as my computer died.
DS2 (no4) was born early on the 18th (had to really think about that Shock) April. I had to be induced due to colistatis sp?? and a DVT.

BEKsmum · 31/05/2006 22:20

Sorry for thread crash

Just wanted to say a huge congratulations to Xena I've been scanning the announcements and the antenatal thread looking for your good news.

How wonderful for you to have another lovely baby boy, hope you and he and the rest of the family are well. I'm off to tell the No '05 girls the good news now, make sure you come and tell us all about him won't you.

Love and best wishes to you all

Beks

hockeymum · 01/06/2006 06:51

Xena - you win the prize of the first "May" baby then, there keeps being one more a little earlier. Well done on the arrival of DS2. I hope you are recovering well from the complications and beginning to feel much better. Congratulations!

plama · 01/06/2006 20:06

Hello everybody
Just getting round to post on this thread (not so much time to chat compared with when pregnantWink)
DD1 just adores DD2 . I've had to keep washing her "I'm a big sister" T shirt so she can wear it to nursery. We were doing well till I got mastitis and had to go on antibiotics. I was feeling c**p and the antibiotics gave the wee one a terribly sore tummy Sad and nobody in the house slept. Still we seem to be turning the corner again (I hope!) Boob is still sore but not as "glow in the dark red" as it was before.
Am very much enjoying having a wee baby again- we don't plan to have any more so I'm all soppy and sentimental about this being the last time we'll have a tiny baby and wanting to make the most of it and really enjoy her. Despite the fact I've got 2 girls and loads of stuff from DD1 to wear I just HAD to buy the baby a few wee outfits just for her Grin. Has retail therapy gripped any of you too?

hockeymum · 02/06/2006 09:44

I am shockingly bad this time about retail therapy! I've been going crazy online and need to be stopped!! This week I've bought stuff from Next, Tchibo (£100!!), Kiddicare, John Lewis, Boots, Asda, The White Company, Ebay and the sold board at MN!!!! I am now officially broke. I think it too is an attempt to really enjoy my last child (dont think I went this mad on dd last time). Most of it was reasonably necessary - changing bag, high chair for ds and dd (bargain Tchibo ones) but a few luxuries (baby wetsuit for ds - am determined to do lots with him while he is tiny) and a gorgeous gorgeous TinyLove Clip and Go mobile from John Lewis that I saw on a pram in a park and had to ask where to buy. DS loves it, I can put it on his car seat, pram and the roof of the conservatory, it plays classical music as it spins and he loves it. I am determined to treasure him while he is tiny (it goes sos so quick!). But my one good point is that I am keeping all the boxes and instructions to things in the loft so I can ebay it all when we've finished with them.

hockeymum · 02/06/2006 09:47

Oh yes, forgot to add that I will need you lot to remind me what a shockingly bad pregnancy I had several times over the next few months! I am SO SO broody again (took 3 years to get broody again after dd!). DH and I went to the docs yesterday for our official counselling session about his vasectomy and it's booked in for July. I know I cant have another pregnancy as it may be the end of me, but part of me is really sad (I only ever wanted 2 children and still think 2 would be best for us BUT I love ds (and dd) so much I'm sad its the end) Hence my determination to enjoy every minute of ds being tiny and hence my shopping addiction maybe! Oh well, you may as well shoot me now! I'm such a hormonal lady these days!

WinkyGirl · 04/06/2006 14:48

Am I the only one suffering from the baby blues? Feeling very miserable (DD1 is 8 days old) and unable to cope. She is my first baby.

Any tips from you experienced Mums?

hockeymum · 04/06/2006 17:13

Winkygirl - what you are feeling is totally normal and is due to the hormonal changes which are huge after giving birth. That, coupled with the sleep deprivation makes you feel terrible. I had it much worse with dd than I have this time. I certainly had it this time, but I think that expecting it made it so much easier. You know it is temporary then and you just let it pass.

The most important thing is to feel supported. Find people you can talk to, try to get out every day (even if its only to push the pushchair to get a loaf of bread - it helps keep you sane). Talk to people on here if people in real life aren't easily accessible. It is totally normal and everyone has it to some extent. It doesn't mean you are getting post natal depression so don't worry about that. You may well find that it passes in a few days when the hormones begin to level out but while you are still sleep deprived (a few more weeks yet I'm afraid) all things seem a bit worse as you are so exhausted.

Speak to your health visitor and midwife about it if you are worried. I am sure they will reassure you that they see it all the time.

Damn hormones (you expect them to stop bothering you once you are not pregnant any more, but alas they feel the need to carry on!)

Thinking of you - keep smiling and remember we are all in the same boat so don't worry about coming on here and getting things off your chest (it reassures us we are all normal too!) Good luck Grin

CMac · 04/06/2006 17:57

Hi - Can I join in please? DS1 born 25th May by C-section (7 days overdue and they wouldn't induce due to previous section so vbac didn't happen). It was a really good experience though - miles better than last time and I was only in hospital for 3 nights. All going well so far and DD1 enjoying her new status as the "big sister". Having a bit of a panic tonight though as DD seems to be coming out in spots which are more than likely chickenpox (going round at nursery) so not sure what that means for DS - I know they say the younger the better but 10 days old might be pushing it! Anyone any tips/experience of this?

squidgeymiller · 04/06/2006 18:29

Hi all, have finally got 5 minutes to myself. My mum has been here for the past week, which has been fab coz she's been doing all my washing and ironing etc, but has meant that when I haven't been feeding dd, I've had to entertain my Mum and listen to all her "useful ideas" (like, that my bathroom windowsill needs painting - not really top of the list of priorities at the moment!!!). She really has been good but I'm glad to get 5 minutes with just me, DH and DD.

Winkygirl - don't worry about the baby blues - my DH had to deal with me sobbing uncontrolably all over him when dd was 7 days old, as I was so tired. Don't really know why I was crying, but felt much better after I'd got it all out. Took a couple of days to feel better really, and I occasionally still have a little cry, but I get less emotional and feel more like I can cope with it all by myself by the day. I'm sure you'll feel better soon. As Hockeymum says, if you have any concerns that its' more than "just" baby blues talk to your health visitor or midwife.

DD is begining to settle into a routine now and I'm beginning to get the hang of things (like how best to wind her and what her grizzles mean) better now, which is good as I'll be on my own full time with her from tomorrow, as mum has gone home and DH is back at work. Am a little bit apprehensive, I know I can cope with DD, just not sure that I'll manage to get dressed before dinner time!!

I still keep looking at Niamh and can't quite believe that a) she's mine b) she's SOOOO beautiful (I know I'm biased) c) she came from me d) she's going to grow up into a child, then a teenager, then a woman....... Does anyone else have the same feeling? It still seems totally sureal!

Anyway, going back to gaze at my beautiful sleeping daughter x Grin

sniff · 04/06/2006 20:43

Can I still join in I know she wasnt born till the 2nd June but I like being in your club!!!!

hockeymum · 05/06/2006 09:51

Welcome sniff and CMac and congratulations to you both! We have April, May and June babies on here now which is really nice.

Cmac - dont worry too much about the chikenpox. It went round my dd's nursery school at the same time there were 5 newborn siblings around too and none of them got it even though there siblings all had it. The baby should have your immunity for around 6 months after the birth. If you're worried though speak to your health visitor about it. Hope its not the pox for your sake though as a whiny pox-ridden toddler around the house is not really the nicest thing when you have a little one to cope with too - good luck, at least it'll be out of the way for the first child though!

Bouj · 05/06/2006 10:04

soooooo tired.....

louismummy · 05/06/2006 14:08

congrats to the new arrivals. well this IS the week we're going to get into more of a routine... ( i said that last week....) so much harder with the second though. DS2 is going well putting on over a pound a WEEK ( DON'T I KNOW IT THOUGH)
but he has little water blisters on mainly his hands and feet, drs not too sure of origin?? taken some swabs given ABs for it review on friday... think its a staph infection. god knows how i'm going to be able to give him it though as it says an hour before food or on an empty stomach hmmm seeing though he feeds every 2.5- 3 hours during the day then sleepd for about 2 hours... let alone getting to swallow the stuff!!

cori · 05/06/2006 17:43

Hello everyone, congratulations to all the new arrivals. I cant believe my new little DS is almost 4weeks old. These past few weeks have flown by. I am finding it all a lot more difficult second time round. Am not depressed or anythin, I just cant manage to do anything suring the day apart from feed the baby. Didnt even get dressed today until 3.15, and then only cause I went to pick DH up from work. TBH, i think the only reason I am managing at all is because DH feeds him at night. I couldnt imagine BF all night as well as all day.

CMac · 06/06/2006 16:09

Thanks hockeymum - I had wondered about the immunity thing. Actually in the end it turned out not to be chickenpox at all so don't have to worry about that for the moment! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

runtus · 07/06/2006 09:58

Hello all, sorry it has taken me so long to get in touch but been spending as much time getting to know baby Cameron as possible and seem to have lost all ability to log on since he was born!

Needless to say we think he is perfect but I have to be honest and say I think we have really fallen on our feet with him - he is sooo good! He is breast feeding well (with the help of nipple sheilds to help him latch on) and sleeping in three hour blocks through the night. He hardly ever cries and is now becoming more and more alert as the days go on. Plus he is super-cute!!!!!!!!! What more could we ask for?

The labour was all a bit rushed as I went from nothing to contrations 4 mins apart within 2 hours and was 4 cms dilated by the time we got to the hospital. Went striaght into the labour room where they decided he had turned back to back.............a decsion they changed their minds on approx 4 times during the labour and finally agreed he had turned round half way through! All meant I had to be examined over and over again (ouch!)and finally he got stuck and had to be helped out with a suction cup, which was soooo painfull I can't even begin to write about it. All well worth it though and already i am beginning to forget the true pain and only remember vague feelings about it all. Not that I would do it again today though!

Best be off, his highness is starting towake up for his second breakfast...........hope you are all well and I'll try to catch up again soon.

Mandymoo · 07/06/2006 13:14

Hi all - well Tom is almost 5 weeks old now and so so cute! DD is like a little angel with him (not so with me however!) and strokes his face, holds his hand and is generally a perfect big sister Grin

Tom sleeping in 4 hour blocks at night and one night just woke up for one feed! (BLISS!!). Having said all that, this morning he has refused to sleep and has just gone off so i thought i would use the time wisely and come on here for a bit! Wink

Had baby blues Plama at around day 8/9 and lasted a few days. As someone has already said, i had it with DD but this time ive been able to tell myself that it will pass and that i wont feel like this forever. I dont care how many times it gets said but NO ONE can ever prepare you for what its going to be like once the baby arrives and it is such a huge culture shock when you suddenly have this little person to look after. Hope you begin to feel brighter soonXX

Anyway, off to try and get some sleep while i can (or might have quick look on ebay!!)

Mandymoo · 07/06/2006 13:15

APOLOGIES Blush

Messgae was meant to be for WinkyGirl re: baby blues and not Plama! SORRY! XX

hockeymum · 07/06/2006 15:45

Oh Mandymoo, I'm glad I'm not the only one with the post-natal cotton brain. I really am useless at anything at the moment and get everything mixed up! I signed my maiden name at Sainsbury's this morning - I've been married nearly 9 years!!!!!!! I swear they took out my brain instead of my placenta.

Theo had his 6 week check today and all is well. We are starting a waterbabies course tomorrow so he will get to swim for the first time! It's a warm hydrotherapy pool so he should be very happy there! I'll let you know tomorrow - I may be a nervous wreck!

Hope you are all managing at least some sleep and are glad with this weather that you aren't pregnant any more!!
