New thread for us ladies

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Spotty if he weren't acting like a twat, you wouldn't be cross! Dp had a go at me for nagging him early in our relationship. I pointed out that if he'd done as he promised - or not promised in the first place for whatever reason - i wouldn't need to remind him. I now don't need to nag although i occasionally strop about having to do fucking everything around here

R loves sitting in his antilop with his spoon and sippy cup while we eat dinner :o

SpottyTeacakes · 09/04/2013 01:04

Honey it's called a teaser or something and it's a giant bar Shock yum!

Seconds I'm not sure about the hormones it doesn't sound fun though!

We still have dd's highchair which I like because it has a solid bit between the legs, stop them falling through. Need a photo of R in his pidj!

IsThatTrue · 09/04/2013 01:12

I bought the £12 ikea highchair for DS with the tray. He loves it, means he can sit with me while I work and not whack my desk and disturb my scanner Grin

honey as far as I can work out the malteasers teaser is a bar made of the stuff that used to be in the celebrations Grin yummy! Our local tesco had sold out Sad

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 01:41

Up again. C seems to be waking trying to poo/fart. I thought digestion was supposed to mature - she used to be like this back at 3 weeks!

Have been admiring the Leander chair, but the price...

utopian99 · 09/04/2013 02:48

Catching up after epic weekend driving to Manchester and back again

wlmum Grin at lemon meringue pie for breakfast

seconds I want the trip trapp too, as have developed a real obsession for all things stokke, but will be buying second hand as you can get them for £40 or so that way. We latest V Explory pram but second hand for £300 (not £900!) and I'm hunting their Sleepi cot second hand too.

O just had a major poosplosion while feeding so I took him to change and needed all clothing and sleeping bag to be changed but the other bag I normally use hadn't finished drying. Left O to play on his front aas wide awake while I tried to sort the bag issue but obviously not being quiet enough as dh just got up and came to find me in the corridor holding O and looking pretty pissed off, saying about the neighbours hearing.
He has a good point as we're here through the grace of a relative so really need to keep everyone in the building on side. Plus I now think he'll think I'm an awful mum for leaving O without being watched.
Feeling a bit Sad but it is really me being at fault if I'm honest, I just thought I was being efficient/quiet.

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 03:10

Up again. Now mentally calculating how many 90 min intervals there remain until morning.

PurplePidjin · 09/04/2013 03:17

Yeah, because having a go atyou in the middle of the night is really quiet and considerate Hmm

SeymoreButts · 09/04/2013 03:40

seconds I get my periods back when I drop down to 2 feeds a day, so it might have been on its way anyway? I always feel like my hormones are all over the place for a while too.

mama I hope you're getting a better stretch of sleep now.

utopian If O was just playing he can't have been that loud? It wouldn't be enough to wake a sleeping neighbour. You have to expect a bit of noise when a baby arrives and you live in an apartment, I think it's par for the course. At least they can put earplugs in and ignore it, you're the one who has to get up!

spotty I hope DP starts being a bit more sensitive now. My DH goes through phases of being thoughtless, I have to give him both barrels spell it out to him and things usually improve. He genuinely doesn't realise that he's doing it sometimes!

We had a lovely wooden highchair that we got rid of after DS1 outgrew it. This time around we've bought the Ikea one!

I really jinxed myself last night when I said DS was like a different baby. We had another night like Saturday. He was inconsolable for most of it. I think it was tummy pain because the rumbling noises were so loud and coincided with the most high pitched shouting. We managed a few hours sleep with DS in the crook of my arm. I'm wondering if it's something I'm eating that's giving him a tummy ache.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/04/2013 04:52

We nearly had four hours! Well it was three and a half...

Yep that's the teaser bar it's yum and I'm saving the rest for breakfast

Seriously, what the fuck are my neighbours doing??? Why is anyone up at this time? They're right weirdos.

Utopian your dh is being a bit of an arse and you should tell him that in the morning.

Seymore food intolerance is a good point, aren't you dairy free already?

SpottyTeacakes · 09/04/2013 04:52

Mama sorry you're having a crap night

SeymoreButts · 09/04/2013 05:07

Spotty Yay, 3 and a half is as good as it gets round these parts!! I am dairy free although I had quite a lot of chocolate over Easter so I'm not sure what else it could be. I had quite a spicy dinner on Friday night, not sure if that would cause problems on Saturday night though. We had takeaway on Sunday night and I had a mild curry, but there was defo chilli in it. I'm clutching at straws!

HoneyMumandSon · 09/04/2013 05:16

3 and a half is as good as it gets here too.

I need to find one of these teaser bars. That will be today's mission.

Secondsop · 09/04/2013 05:19

Why is it Z goes down within 10 minutes after his feed, but I'm still awake an hour and a half later?!

seymore i remember your post about your periods returning when you dropped to 2 feeds a day. I'd been on 2 small feeds a day for a while by then, blithely thinking that as i hadn't been exclusively breastfeeding for months i had turned back on the period hormonal signal and that it would just be a matter of time. Your post made me realise that it doesn't necessarily work like that so i figured I may need to drop further or stop entirely, and it does look like that is the case for me.

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 07:50

Utopian, that doesn't seem fair on you. Noise happens, especially with babies. Not anyone's fault.

Seymore, sorry it was a bad night again. What is going on with our babies' tummies?

Goo luck to everyone seeking out this new fancy chocolate!

Thanks Spotty - after the 3am feed she stayed down until 7, for which I am very thankful. She's a hungry monster now - better feed the beast.

What's everyone up to today? Rain forecast down here. As long as it doesn't snow...

SpottyTeacakes · 09/04/2013 07:55

That's good mama.

Seymore what about wheat? (Joins in with straw clutching)

I think we're going to pop to tesco and buy some bits so we can make chocolate muffins. Also maybe see my parents who've been in Cuba for two weeks Envy

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 08:01

Cuba! Amazing. I was very jealous of friends in Melbourne - they've had a glorious weekend of 25°C and sunshine. I could do with that! It snowed in Copenhagen as we were leaving.

Clarella · 09/04/2013 08:44

Stumbling onto thread after very brief skim....

Hope all are ok. We're in proper sleep regression territory - at least we are doing what he did in the first week which is feed every 2 hours in the night.

Mama poo and fart issues here too which wake him up constantly. Someone has recently told they go through a big gut change now in readiness for food so could be part of it.

I've no clear barometer though as he had his water infection 3 weeks ago, tongue tie also, so has possibly been both packing back the weight and thirsty as the amoxycillin gave him diarrhea. And then both of us thrush which was bloody painful! Seems to be gone now though as hoping his gut flora will begin to settle. With all this in mind Dh and I tried extending the wake ups - holding his hand and one hand on his head seemed to help but isn't sustainable (though it's a bed side cot). We managed to get him to go 3 hours this way.

Thing I don't get is cosleeping actually makes no difference - it's comfort he wants. I got him to sleep 4-6 on the dream genie with a sheet tightly wrapped over it so it cradled him. Totally against sids guidelines but he wouldn't evenssettle on me! I'm avoiding hammock as I reckon he needs to learn to sleep without movement....!!!! Argh!

Clarella · 09/04/2013 08:54

oh seymore it's so frustrating isn't it. you can tie yourself up in knots trying to work out if what you eat causes something - I tried dairy free after even the doc mentioned it but then laid myself wide open to thrush (I eat lots of yogurt) at the same time lo had antibiotics. it actually got me down. as I said before their guts are changing a lot. have you tried taking probiotics in an effort to perhaps get more into him? some people even give babies probiotics. the local hospital's scbu are using one with sc babies.

utopian I'd have done exactly the same - you were doing your best hon

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 09:15

Clarella - a big gut change makes a lot of sense. Even pooing during the day seems to be a bigger deal than it used to me, and the amount of squalling and kicking that precedes a mere fart is amazing.

Man, Clarella, you two have been through it healthwise. I hope it's all starting to pick up and you see it reflected in the sleep. How old is your son now?

(Anyone else losing track of weeks and starting to use months? I remember wondering when I'd stop knowing exactly how many days old she is! - Just checked my feeding app, C is 17 weeks, 18 tomorrow.)

itsMYNutella · 09/04/2013 09:30

mama I had almost forgotten all the grunting that went into digestion Shock in the early weeks which is no bad thing

clarella interesting info about their guts. We have a probiotic that we used when DS was having real problems. Don't know if its available in the UK. It's called bi-gia and you give them some drops mixed with milk (or in their bottle), it's like an oil. We don't need it anymore but still have some in the fridge so I'll keep it incase we have problems again Grin

It's a lovely mix if snow and rain here this morning Sad. I need spring & sunshine!!!
Also DS was a bit unsettled in the night (plus I kept falling asleep mid feed and waking up an hour or so later). He fed at about 6 am and I gave up on sleep just before 8 and got up. DS slept until 10!!!

Not fair!

HoneyMumandSon · 09/04/2013 10:35

I thought periods returned once feeds started dropping a bit. I'm so confused by all this!

itsMYNutella · 09/04/2013 10:41

I don't mind waiting a bit longer for periods Grin

Can't remember who was looking at a second hand Tripp trap... It needs to be manufactured after may 2003 to work with the baby seat set thingy - it will have a serial number printed under one of the legs. As long as that number starts with a 3 or higher it won't be a problem.

Stokke stuff is very popular here (and slightly cheaper than in the UK) so easy to pick up 2nd hand. We have the mini sleepi and the converter to go up a size. We also have a Tripp trapp Grin hoping it will last all the kids we are planning on (not decided between 2 or 3)

MaMaPo · 09/04/2013 10:49

Given that Stokke is a Swedish company and my husband's family is Danish (and Swedes and Danes hate each other), we're going for the Leander bed and probably high chair too. Much cheaper here than in Aus.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/04/2013 10:50

I actually can't be bothered to even go to tesco. I'm really tired and it's such a hassle with two of them Hmm

utopian99 · 09/04/2013 11:15

Nutella it was me on stokke stuff; good tip on model numbers, thanks!

Dh woke up very lovey and sorry about being stroppy. I think it's always hard on anyone's state of mind being woken in the night, but harmony restored!

Good morning of work here, now off for a coffee with my grandmother. Might be making a trip to Manchester and back tomorrow to sort out help for tenants - what fun.
