Beasty i have a Tommee Tippee one and i'm not hugely impressed but i only ever pump once in a blue moon so it might be down too me doing it weirdly

SpottyTeacakes · 07/04/2013 20:02

I had the tommee Tippee one with dd I got loads out but it made my nipples bleed Sad

halestone · 07/04/2013 20:22

Ahh thanks for that Spotty, i thought i was doing it weird and that why it hurt

Stacks · 07/04/2013 20:27

T has been in 3-6 month clothes since about 10 weeks. Sleepsuits and vests first, partly because of his cloth bum, partly due to his really long legs. However he's only just growing out of some of his 0-3 tops, as he seems to have short arms and be quite skinny.

I've got the Tommee Tippee pump and mini microwave steriliser, but also just bought a Mam set from their website. It was half price and came with a few extra bits (bottle, lid, tear and dummy I think) £15. Not used it yet though as I've not got round to sterilising it. Oops.

Sleep got a bit better here for 2 nights, then awful last night. I was up 8, 10, 12, then every hour till 6 when he did a massive poo. I made DH get up with him and got a little more sleep, they came back to bed together at 7:45 so I fed him to sleep and napped again til 8:30.
T wouldn't settle into feeding tonight, and he's been scratching at his ears last night (leaving blood on the sheets :( ) so I've given him some calpol as a test. Hope it works.

My brother spent many hours in walkers and door bouncers as a baby. As the youngest of 4 he didn't get much attention. We used to call him 'twinkle toes' as he always walked and ran on his toes. Took him years before he ran normally. No idea if it was the walker, but someone's comment reminded me of it.

Stacks · 07/04/2013 20:30

I was going to say - ill write a little comparison between the pumps once I've used the Mam one too. The TT one was ok, but I found the cup on the breast very large so couldn't massage around it to help express more. It was also quite uncomfortable to use, but that may just be the way all pumps are.

WLmum · 07/04/2013 20:39

I used a walker with dd1 and dd2, dd1 loved it and would scoot about the house - she even managed to work out how to get through door frames that were not much wider than the walker! Dd2 didn't really take to it and would just sit so quite useful as a plonkable seat with a tray but no real scooting. I wonder if the difference was that dd1 was keen to walk along time before she could and I spent many hours getting back ache holding her hands so she could walk. Dd2 was happy crawling and if I held her hands would just lift her feet up! In the end they were about the same age when they walked independently. I will give it a try with dd3 but suspect she will end up mostly being pushed in it by 1&2!
I think the bad press came from idiots using them upstairs and little ones launching themselves down the stairs.

Secondsop · 07/04/2013 21:03

I've got a fisher price jumperoo - z loves it (unless he's tired) and I can put him in it while I make a meal.

Well we made it out to the party in St. John's wood, all the way from SE London, tram-train-bus, and home again. I picked a route that was as accessible as possible with just single steps onto / off the bus and train, but I must say I was really touched by the kindness of strangers who offered to help nearly every time there was a step even though I wasn't (I don't think) particularly struggling with them. We're both tired now - think a takeaway is in order as Z wants to settle on the sofa with me rather than play.

Secondsop · 07/04/2013 21:16

Hmm, apparently Z doesn't want to sleep yet. So jumperoo it is.

HoneyMumandSon · 07/04/2013 21:34

Ugghh DH got in from work 45 mins ago. His mother was on the phone within 2 mins of him walking in the door, he didn't answer so she phoned again while we were having tea and now he's had to call her back and she won't shut up and piss off and let me have him for half an hour before he goes to bed and then goes out to work at 5 am. God I hate her.

HoneyMumandSon · 07/04/2013 21:57

And she's just attempted to invite herself up to stay with us for our first wedding anniversary.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/04/2013 22:17

Honey I hope your dh told her where to go!

Argh why doesn't ds sleep anymore?? It's been three hours since his last feed ffs. He was doing 7/8 hours!! And my room is bloody boiling because the suns been shining in and my twatty neighbours were hammering not long ago and now dd is crying. I'm so hot I'm now worried about ds overheating...

SpottyTeacakes · 07/04/2013 22:32

And now ds has decided that he will only go to sleep sucking my finger Angry

IsThatTrue · 08/04/2013 01:06

DS is not a happy bunny today (yesterday). My nipples feel like they've been dipped in paint shredder! He's fed about 2/3 of the day. So so tired. I thought we'd come out the other side of growth spurts! Hmm

EggsMichelle · 08/04/2013 02:14

IsThat we have had a challenging day as well, on top of the terrible night sleep, he wouldn't nap for longer than 10mins, had multiple melt downs and screamed constantly for 20mins in the car (always been the place to calm him). Lots of hand chewing, dribbling and red cheeks, just wish a tooth would appear. We have moved onto hungry baby formula in the hope that will make him happier as well.

We are up now watching TV cause he won't go back to sleep

halestone · 08/04/2013 03:04

Isthat and Eggs thats what H has been like for the past couple of days. Eating loads, really agitated, crying for no reason and really hard to calm down. Shes calmed down loads today though and is almost back to her happy selfGrin I have also noticed a huge increase in the amount shes pooing (6 times today) and 3-4 for the past couple of days. Luckily DP is off work for 2 weeks so i've only changed 1 nappyGrin.

2blessed · 08/04/2013 05:09

My ds has been realy irritable this weekend, really difficult to settle during the day and not wanting anyone but dp or me. Dp's dm, dsis and ds1 came over for lunch and ds spent most of the afternoon screaming. Absolutely fine with bedtime routine though...
I woke an hour ago with a loud belly and had to rush to the loo. Then ds woke so feeding him but had to rush again to the loo. Just had some herbal tea to try and settle my stomach and pumped out a bottle also.

We've also got the avent manual pump which i'm happy with and hope to be taking in to work with me.
fod will be interested to know how you get on if you get the cortisone injection. Hope pain is lessening.

HoneyMumandSon · 08/04/2013 05:22

Another unsettled baby here. Woken up writhing round and crying at 4 the past couple of mornings like he needs a poo but can't manage but is pooing normally during the day do don't know how blocked up he can be. Wants to feed but won't settle in the boob, screaming randomly.

Secondsop · 08/04/2013 05:47

Grr. i can cope with feeding and settling Z in the middle of the night, but being kept awake by the cat pawing my arm wanting a stroke is taking the piss.

IsThatTrue · 08/04/2013 05:58

Seconds Grin sorry but that does make me smile (which is quite an achievement at 6 am!)

DS has been waking himself up farting tonight. He was quite sicky yesterday so I wonder if he's not feeling top notch?! God these babies can be confusing! He's quietly sleeping on my chest after his 5th feed since midnight Hmm.

On a plus note I bought reusable breast pads from mothercare on sat and they are so much more comfy than the disposable ones. If I'd have realised I'd need them for this long I'd have bought re isa led long ago thick

halestone · 08/04/2013 06:06

OMG shes just slept for 4.5 hours i'm so happyGrinGrinGrin FX it wasn't a fluke and the best thing about it is she settled and fell asleep herselfGrinGrinGrin Now just need to sleep train myself haha. I'm hoping she goes back to sleep after this breastfeed.

Seconds i agree with Isthat, that was quite funny to read.

I'm wondering if all the babies have been unsettled this last few days whether its developmental? Or could it be the slight change in weather? (Or is that a stupid idea)

Secondsop · 08/04/2013 06:12

And now the doorbell has just rung! Am not getting up. No way. I think it might be malfunctioning as the other day it rang and I got there really quickly but there was nobody, and no sign of anybody up and down the road.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/04/2013 07:01

Crap night here. I asked dp to take ds at one point (5am but I thought it was 6) and he said no Hmm

WLmum · 08/04/2013 07:23

Great news hales its about time you got a break. Everyone else, I feel your pain. T was up from 2.45 til 5.15. Dd1 got up when DH left for work at 6.45, dd2 was up by 7 and T is merrily sleeping away. So I'm having lemon merengue pie for breakfast.

WLmum · 08/04/2013 07:24

spotty next time don't ask, tell! I'd be tempted bit to make him any dinner and tell him you were too tired.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/04/2013 07:35

Hales that's really great! Smile

Seconds it must be a fault surely no one would ring your doorbell so early?! or a ghost

WL I got ds out if his cot and he slept on my chest for another two hours. I think he's been waking but not for food as he doesn't have much of a feed but he did do this before and it didn't last forever. At one point last night (only 10:30) I was leaving him a minute to see if he'd go back to sleep on his own as he'd just been fed and dp jumped out of bed saying 'I'll just take him downstairs shall I?!' And moaned that he couldn't sleep.

Ds makes it all worth it when he gives me a big grin in the morning though Grin
