New thread for us ladies

cornish we're very similar to you. he'll sleep for longer in day if we are out in pram / car etc but only 40 mins in the house. I've wondered if he should have been a baby who was swaddled.

I must admit I'm thinking of putting a bit of a routine in the afternoon as I've noticed he's getting tired earlier but then is too cranky to last for a bath, so considering an enforced nap at 4:30-5:30, bath at 6, book if capable and last big feed at half six. he'll usually feed for up to an hour before either nodding off or needing a bit of cuddling to go off thereafter but if I look at it as a whole it's too long without a nap earlier. there's way too much over tired behaviour after the bath right now.

stuntnun as posted a vague plan/ sleep training thing on the November thread which .Im liking the look of though she conceeds it's no good if going thru 4 mo sleep regression. I like her 'nap by any means' and am noticing that is quite important to TRY and aim for at the moment. I'll try and link to it

Clarella · 04/04/2013 18:22

step away from Google honey!!! says she who Google jerky baby head last week. on top of several other things

Clarella · 04/04/2013 18:25

nb g wakes v early due to wind/ poo issues around 5-7 and is used to being awake then so I'm scaling bed time right back. he usually needs a nap by 8:30/9am

Secondsop · 04/04/2013 18:35

Oh honey z always, always leans leftward. Try not to worry.

spotty he's not in Dubai yet (when he goes you won't miss it because there'll be all manner of moaning from me) but he goes on Sunday morning to India and then to Dubai.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/04/2013 18:44

Oh ok I thought I'd missed something big Wink

Clarella ds wakes between six and seven, our whole house does though so he doesn't have much choice Grin

WillYouDoTheFandango · 04/04/2013 19:11

We have to have a late nap here Clarella, 6-7 is hell on earth if he misses it

I had to do the same while pregnant Seconds, my boss loved the 2nd day in a row off work just to drop off Hmm

Still not squeezed it... yet

Barbeasty · 04/04/2013 19:43

We're all up any time from 5.30, when DH gets up for work. A bit frustrating, because I think left to his own devices, A would sleep a fair bit longer.

Yes, it's me that's been ignored about the sick for the last 16 weeks. At least we're seeing my favourite Dr.

Out of interest, those of you whose babies have reflux propped fairly upright (like in a bouncy chair) does that make them better or worse? And what about when they're properly upright like in a sling or classic over the shoulder winding position?

I was asked about routine for the nursery paperwork. Not sure we have one to be honest. Must start trying to work it out...

ISpyPlumPie · 04/04/2013 20:24

Welcome Cornish! No real routine here yet - just tend to go with the flow. Seems to be working for us atm as DS2 is a generally content little chap, but know we will need a bit more structure at some point. I found last time that we naturally got into more of a routine once I'd introduced solids as things started to fit round mealtimes more.

Seconds - great news about the weight gain but grrr about the test. Hope you're not kept waiting too long for another slot.

Honey - I'll add my voice to the chorus of completely normal. They're all still so little really and I think it just takes time for them to co-ordinate everything properly.

We have a tooth Shock.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/04/2013 20:39

Shock A tooth?!

WLmum · 04/04/2013 20:45

Thank goodness you're getting somewhere at last beasty. Ts reflux is now quite well controlled so I don't really find any position better or worse - that said she is still sick a cou

WLmum · 04/04/2013 20:48

Grr - smashed phone screen makes this typing malarky difficult!

Still sick a couple of times a day at least, regardless of position or activity. The biggest sicks tend to be straight after a feed so I guess there's also an element of taking in too much milk - if I'm quick to sit her up/over the shoulder it'll come out there, if I'm slow, she just pukes all over my boob!

MaMaPo · 04/04/2013 20:49

Oh lord ISpy! Did it come with great fanfare?

Clarella, a lot of what you say rings true. I held C for an enforced nap 4.30-5 today as she was so moany, then she managed a 6pm bath ok. Could have gone earlier though - when I first put her to bed (asleep) she woke up and sang to herself for 10 minutes before getting very cranky and needing more feeding. She was either overtired (and got a short second wind) or actually still hungry. Who'd know?

I would pay someone £50 if C would reliably sleep until 7.30am. That would suit our house perfectly. 6.30 this morning and 5am yesterday is just beyond the pale.

itsMYNutella · 04/04/2013 21:15

Only £50 Mama? I'd offer DP's kidney if we could get little man to regularly sleep for 7 or even 8 hours!

Speaking of little man, since going to sleep he has cried once in his sleep. And laughed once in his sleep... My baby is bonkers!

MaMaPo · 04/04/2013 21:16

Right - husband went to work drinks after work. Texted me an hour ago to say he was leaving in 5. He works no more than 25 minutes away. Phone straight to voicemail. When do I panic?

MaMaPo · 04/04/2013 21:19

False alarm - he's nearly home. I am fucking starving.

Clarella · 04/04/2013 21:38

teeth?!?

yes there's a noticeable change to bedtime times at mo.

we had some reflux stuff going on when tongue tie issues were very bad, upright or very slanted has worked. we've even resorted to the travel swing at times in the past, and the hammock was great too. he seems ok now though except for the odd morning. it wasn't true reflux though, more like heartburn / burp issues. he actually hated slings but not sure if because he's a nosy little thing and now can see more easily is happier in them or if it was actually uncomfortable. slings are supposed to help but little girl I know with real reflux isn't keenon slings.

are you breast feeding barbeasty?

ISpyPlumPie · 04/04/2013 21:45

Not much fuss around the tooth tbh - there was a definite increase in hand chewing over the weekend and some slightly red cheeks. He had a couple of icky nappies this morning, but that could have been antibiotics too. You could see the tooth in his gum yesterday but it broke through the surface this afternoon. No crying - in fact he's been chuckling quite a bit. I'm sure that it won't always be that easy for him - seem to remember they get worse as they go further back.

FriendofDorothy · 04/04/2013 21:51

Is everyone getting giggles now?

We aren't getting any to speak of and I am worrying about it!

Secondsop · 04/04/2013 21:56

A tooth! Well done!

barbeasty Z (about 90% formula fed) has always been refluxy and I've not found that any particular position makes any difference regardless of what they say. It seems to be improving as he gets older though.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/04/2013 22:23

Fod we haven't had any yet.

Having an awful night already. I came to bed at nine and asked dp to take ds just so I could at least get an hour. Not sure what happened but dp is now in bed asleep and I'm feeding ds as he was crying again Sad

WillYouDoTheFandango · 04/04/2013 22:30

Nope no giggles here either FoD, he did one about 2ish weeks ago but I think that was just a fluke couple of noises together.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/04/2013 23:27

He will not stay asleep in his cot

Secondsop · 04/04/2013 23:38

Earlier Z was having major fussy time for the second evening in a row. He was inconsolable. Then I remembered somebody - possibly pidJ? - recommended the tiger in a tree position about 4 threads back to someone else with a similar problem. Tried it. INSTANT CALM. Took him a while to settle back in a different position but it was the tiger position that broke the mood. So thank you to whoever it was!

halestone · 05/04/2013 01:13

Wow you ladies have talked today Grin

Welcome Cornish, no routine here yet do try and force a nap 90 minutes after she wakes though. Been doing it a week and been getting one 3 hour sleep of a nightGrin.

Barbeasty, hope the Dr is finally helpful when you see them.

Seconds congrats on your LO coming up in centiles. Rubbish news about the hospital though.

Honey H leans to one side as well infact sometimes she slumps over quickly haha.

Ispy yay for the tooth.

FOD we get giggles but only if me and DP are together and we play peek a boo or surprise her. Infact the more i feel a fool the more she laughs. Her favourite place to giggle is when shes in the shower with me and DP plays peek a boo round the shower curtain.

H got weighed today shes 18.2lbs my friends 10 month old weighs the same haha

SpottyTeacakes · 05/04/2013 01:54

It was me seconds Smile

Ds is still crying everytime I try to put him down Sad
