wiggles we went to sainsburys yesterday especially for their 25% off clothes Grin . Turns out all my clothes are getting too big so I am in need of new ones but budget isn't stretching far so sainsburys and charity shops it was. Who knew you could get the likes of hobbs, laura ashley and monsoon from my local charity shops [smug and proud of budget buys].

GCSE results out tomorrow, I'm going to work to see how my students did, I'm nervous already Blush

granny how is it going sans DH?

americanexpat · 21/08/2013 14:39

Granny - I hope you're having an uneventful day!

reastie - I love love love charity shops. I can usually find some nice brands and everything is the same price regardless of the brand. I can't remember the last time I bought new trousers/jeans.

L seems to be afraid of the dark now. He has a nightlight in his room but won't go to sleep unless the overhead light is on. He's fine if we turn out the light after he's asleep but he's still waking early. Any ideas?

Reastie · 21/08/2013 15:18

american no ideas as such but something my therapist (yes Blush I have one of those ATM) said to me a while ago I still remember (the point was something quite different but this example was to show the point) that if a child tells you they are scared of the dark because they are scared of monsters/ghosts etc if you behave like there might be monsters/ghosts (ie 'let's look under the bed to frighten them away') that then lets the child think they have a reason to be scared/the monsters/ghosts actually exist. So in being kind/playing with the child around their imagination in this instance, you actually enforce the belief they have something to be scared of which in the long run might make it worse. It's better to tell them there's no such thing as monsters. Sorry, that was rambling and probably not very useful but it was what sprung to mind when you mentioned it. FWIW we were given a rather groovy torch like this only a cow one and she loves turning it on and off and that it makes a noise. Maybe he'd like to have something like that by his bed so he can turn on a light if he feels scared?

americanexpat · 21/08/2013 15:42

He has a lion torch (that roars when you turn it on) so maybe I'll give that to him at night. There's been no mention of monsters so I'm not sure what he's frightened about. If we turn the light out, he'll get out of bed to turn it on then go to sleep. Bedtime is a huge struggle but if I can get out of the room with him still in bed, then he'll usually put himself to sleep. He used to be so easy at bedtime. Sad

Reastie · 21/08/2013 18:07

Can you leave a little side light on for him or have the hall light on and the door adjar? I'm sure until I was quite old I went to sleep with a bedside light on!

americanexpat · 22/08/2013 16:36

Tbh I'm not bothered by leaving the light on, just want to know why he's suddenly frightened. I tried the torch last night and he wasn't interested, then screamed when I turn out the light. He came into bed with us during the night again too.

I was finally desperate enough to see my GP yesterday about an eczema-like rash which popped up a couple months ago. She thought it was likely eczema but should follow-up with a dermatologist since it came on very suddenly and I don't have a history of it. Am now loaded with steroid ointment and a referral.

RobinSparkles - if you're lurking, she said dry flaky eyelids are a classic eczema symptom.

Grannyapple · 22/08/2013 21:27

Just went to local park with picnic...Nate has been super cute all day & at bedtime e demanding 10 kisses before we leave the room...hard to believe it won't be long before he attempts to disown his mother. wiggsyour fb photos of Sofia looking all grown up has made me have that realisation tonight Shock

Hope everyone had a fab w/e x

flusteredmumto2 · 27/08/2013 14:45

Haven't been on here for so long I actually couldn't remember any of my details so had to rejoin. Its hubbard86 for any of you that remembers me.
How are all the ladies and not so little ones?

blizy good luck honey. I hope you get the answers you want.

Update from us.
Tom and freya are happy and healthy. In between being little monsters anyway. Tom starts full time school on the 9th, freya starts full time nursery and I'm off back to college. As well as moving out of my mothers (4 months is definitely long enough) sometime in the next couple of weeks. Just waiting for keys. My ex has no contact with them and pays nothing as he's claiming that he's not their dad. Been over 3 months and before then had only seen them 4 times since xmas. Not bothered any more and am doing the best I can. Love life well that is currently amazing as my fb friends already can tell. In may I met up with a very old friend that I'd dated briefly when I was 17 we were both too young for serious back then but stayed in contact and as they say the rest is history. He lives in bristol though is looking at work transfers to the midlands. Hes met the kids and they adore him. He backs me up and just supports me in every way I never dreamt anybody would. His family all live near me and I regularly meet up with his brother and his girlfriend for coffee and jointpark trips. They've even babysat for me. So guess I'm lucky to have found someone after so many disasters.

Much love and plenty of Wine & Cake

americanexpat · 27/08/2013 16:12

blizy - good luck today, please update us when you can. xx

Granny - how are you managing with two on your own? I can't believe A is four weeks old already. Shock

wiggles - sleep is still hit and miss, he comes in bed with us in the early morning about half the time. Though I realised last night that I'd rather he get in bed with us at 5am than wanting to be awake.

flustered - sorry your ex is a knob. Can you get CSA involved?

flusteredmumto2 · 27/08/2013 18:14

americanexpat he's refusing to pay the £3.25 a fortnight yhe csa has said he has to pay until he gets a dna test which I or csa would have to pay for and to be perfectly honest I know he is so I refuse to pay to prove it. There was no question before his girlfriend came along so I'll just get on with it and at least they've got me.

blizy · 27/08/2013 18:22

I am fine, it was just a fatty deposit that can now be felt because of weight loss. I am so relieved.

Omg, flustered what a tosser! He doesn't deserve to see or have any rights too the kids. You are doing a brill job on your own, F and T will always know that.

wigglesrock · 27/08/2013 18:38

blizy this is one of these times I am absolutely fucking delighted to use the phrase "told ya so" SmileWine

flustered glad the 3 of you are doing so well. Your ex is simply a wanker and it will come back to bite him on the arse x

americanexpat yup prioritising sleep is the way to go! L will stay longer in his own bed soon, honestly he will. He just wants a bit of company. I am of course aware that I'm the last person who should be giving sleep advice Blush

OP posts:
americanexpat · 27/08/2013 18:45

Excellent news, blizy! xx

flustered - he's wanting a DNA test over 6.50 a month? He should really be ashamed of himself, not seeing or helping to support his children. Good luck at college.

Grannyapple · 27/08/2013 18:48

Yay blizy!!

hubbard totally agree with wiggs...tosser!!

american day 2 of having both on my own...will be glad N is in nursery tomorrow & Thursday, put it that way Grin. Going for a cheeky pub lunch tomorrow with one of my friends who's also on mat leave & toddler free..just us & babies...bliss!

But it's been fine tho been feeling a bit guilty about how N now has less attention...but this is just a small window of time & he won't remember it & A will go more than 2 hrs btwn feeds.....eventually!!

Reastie · 27/08/2013 20:49

Blizy that's great news, I'm so relieved for you.

Hello flustered glad things are going so well for you and your new DP.

Granny it must be hard not to feel bad as I think I would too, but don't Grin . He won't remember it you're right and you're only one person!

Starting to do prep work ready for going back next week, oh, and I'm still blinking decorating. this time the downstairs loo and hall is getting a revamp. One of those things that seemed like a good idea before I started it, now I'm not so sure now I'm half way in!

Ledkr · 29/08/2013 21:14

Popping by to check on blizy phew! Great news love.
I've got one of those on my rib area which caused me great fear a few months ago.
I've been busy with a VERY hard work dilly and getting Ella ready for high school.
I'm off into hospital for my little thyroid op on Monday so have a couple of weeks to be here all the time to help her settle plus dilly has to increase her nursery hrs.
Hope you are all well. I'm off to catch up.

Deliaskis · 30/08/2013 21:14

Hello again all,

Just popped back on to catch up a little bit, lovely to read people's updates.

blizy so glad you're OK, you must be relieved!

reastie you've done fab on the weight loss, I'm stealing myself to start to do something about my weight. I am eating relatively healthy things most of the time just way too much and no exercise to speak of, so I need to fix things.

CJ has had an ace week of potty training so I'm Grin . Typically me, I was getting a bit worked up about it but it's gone surprisingly well so far. A couple of accidents Sat & Sun and then mostly dry since then, a couple of accidents on Thursday which was her first nursery day but then dry today. I'm so happy she's doing OK. I know it isn't 'done' yet and there's still a way to go but I'm so pleased with how it's gone so far.

Her keyworker at nursery is off travelling and it was her last day today so that was sad, she's been great with Claudia. New one is fine too but we're sad to see Kimmy go.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Dx

wigglesrock · 02/09/2013 13:09

deliaskis lovely to see you again Smile. Glad C is doing so well with the toilet training. Anna is in pants from today!

ledkr hope op has gone well Thanks and Ella settles well into "big" school.

Nothing much happening here, girls back to school - so sun has come out typically! I have had a row difference of opinion with the admissions dept at hospital re Olivia. Apparently she is likely to be waiting longer than I was told re tonsils out. We have a weekend away booked in October and I have a feeling that her op may be scheduled the week before Confused

OP posts:
Ledkr · 02/09/2013 13:27

wiggs nicely following your post I am currently sat in the admissions ward waiting for a fucking bed.
It's not looking good and I've got time off work so has dh and been nil by mouth since bastard midnight.
Dh has a freeze on leave due to the feckkng badger cull so if its rescheduled we are fucked!!!
BOLLOCKY NHS

Reastie · 02/09/2013 13:49

Ledkr how rubbish. How long are they going to make you wait around for?

Delia good to hear from you, hope potty training is continuing well? We've given up after a rubbish attempt and I've been too scared since to try again Confused

First day back at work today for the term. So much paperwork/pressure coming in all the time I feel stressed already, wish they would just trust that I would do a good job and let me get on with it as I want to spend my time prepping for lessons not doing formality paperwork for the powers that be Confused

Ledkr · 02/09/2013 14:35

Ok they found a bed and I'm next!!!!!

blizy · 02/09/2013 14:38

Oh ledkr, that's crap! I hope you get taken soon and that all goes well. Thinking of you.

MizK · 02/09/2013 15:17

Just a quick post as keeping an eye on DCs in country park playground...

Sending love to ledkr and hoping all goes smoothly x

Hi everybody else, hope everybody is well?

These school hols have broken my fragile sanity, have been brilliant at times and have loved being able to go out most days cause of the nice weather BUT teenage, 10 year old and toddler strops have been full on! Managed to stress spend nearly 200 pounds on myself today, now to explain that to DP when we are permanently cash strapped!
