Embarrassingly, as F almost never cries because of nappies, when she is wailing sometimes, and nothing seems to be working, I completely forget to think about checking her nappy Blush

PMSL at the idea of silencing detective

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2013 17:42

Don't know glenda I've watched three episodes and am thinking of putting the box set on ebay... It's too much like hard work and a little depressing. I wish I had bought West Wing instead. Looks far more entertaining and shiny.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 17:53

Glenda you sound so organised!

I have noted some of O's milestones in his red book but I have no special record book for him. Hundreds thousands of photos of him though. Mostly on my phone though so need to put them on the laptop at some point.

misslaughalot we shall meet! Let me just summon up some bravery and I will pm you to arrange.

Hoping the weather is ok tomorrow to at least get out for a walk.

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 17:58

I even talk in my sleep BP. There is no silencing me!

Pikz I haven't been anywhere!! Grin

Glenda The lactose free milk made him start feeding again, and stop fussing at the bottle. Went from 12oz a day to 36oz a day in just 3 days! The ranitidine gave me a baby who is not attached to me 24/7. And the gaviscon seems to be keeping most of the feeds in! WAYHEY! Long may it last....?!

Also, we have had the doggie revelation today too! I tried to get a picture before, but couldn't manage it! O sat on my knee, dog inbetween my legs, O reaching out and touching and stroking her! Ever so gently! I have blubbed a lot today. I blubbed at that also! It was so lovely to watch!

The dog wanted to lick O when he had no nappy on. She also licks his fingers, so I am always at hand with bloody wipes as O will put his hand straight back in his mouth. I tell the dog no licking. She just ignores me. Hmm

Since it has been a relatively quiet afternoon on here, I have been reading the old threads. Specifically the thread where Detectives baby arrives Grin. Read my posting of the birth - things I had forgotten already! And reading my first few posts on the PN thread.

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 18:00

Good luck tomorrow Glenda. Although IIRC it was admin shite on the first day! Not much interesting! But either way, you will love it, and get in to the swing of it all! I'll try and help when you need it. But I am practical. Not academic. Don't expect much Grin.

YellowWellies · 17/03/2013 18:38

Good luck Glenda.

Det so glad the right combo of meds has given you your wee man back. My sisters firstborn's CMPI was dismissed as 18 month long colic by the fecking HV. Can you imagine?! Now she knows that babies aren't designed to cry and whinge so much - but without our mum around for guidance she trusted the HV.

Pass glad its not just me putting vague made up out of thin air dates in the baby book.

We had a lovely day in Perth - a walk along the Tay and a drive in the snow covered Ochils today. Was Fab. We went to Pizza Express who have an amazing allergy menu so I was able to have pizza (sans fromage) and dough balls with garlic oil rather than garlic butter. GTFI!!!!!

Daisy I agree about not letting knob jockey back in. For safety's sake and also because it could be emotionally confusing. It's easy to confuse habit / familiarly with love.

horseylady · 17/03/2013 18:42

How the actual fuck can you post 10 pages in a day???!!!! Jesus!!

pass and det summary??!!

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2013 18:42

I bought one of these the other day for F. Every evening I scribble a few lines about milestones that day. There are a few empty entries should read, mummy spent the day watching tv and mn whilst I slept, but I thought it would be a nice memory of her early years. Will give it to her when she turns 18

Lily311 · 17/03/2013 18:58

pass i flew to Hungary when O was 1 month o,d. My sil said that my nephew slept through the night at 4 weeks, rolled at 8 weeks, crawled at 5 months and obv was on a routine from birth. I just laughed and said that someone had to inherit the shitty genes and that someone was probably my girl cause all she did was scream, eat, sleep. No way my nephew was so advanced.

I have a baby book but I am rubbish writing in it. I should though. My mum still has my baby book, she even noted when I fall in love first Blush it was in nursery at the age of two .

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2013 19:02

I just have notebooks that I write in when the mood takes me. DD1's is far more complete than LO's will be... Tey can have them when they are 18. I put in memories, family anecdotes, discuss their milestones. I want ti to be something they can look at when they feel down so that they know how loved they are.

Catbag · 17/03/2013 19:06

PR Sell the Wire and use the funds to buy TWW Grin We are thinking about buying a new WW boxset as the cardboard covers are starting to fall apart. Disappointed that they haven't reissued the boxset in shiny new packaging though.

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 19:12

Horsey I'll pass to pass Grin for that one!

I am looking forward to telling O how a whole bunch of internet weirdos stalkers were anticipating his birth! Grin

I will print off some of the comments for him. In case they ever disappear Shock.

I love reading the baby book my mum did for me.

My chilli is ready. Nomfuckingnom!

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 19:19

YW that sounds like an idyllic day.

pig that book is a great idea, how lovely for them to be able to cherish as they're older. Ditto PR and what a lovely sentiment about your girls knowing how loved they are.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 19:20

Ugh I hate creepy old building noises when its dark. Shudder.

Lilliana · 17/03/2013 19:27

Sorry for silence -I've been reading here and fb but by the time i catch up i have no time to write.

huge hugs to all however big or small your problems xx

l slept for 5.5 hours and then another 2, so hope this is a new trend.

another muslin muncher here. she has just started putting everything in her mouth but loves a muslin above all toys! Confused

i have been trying to keep her baby book up to date but missed a few things already. also planning a scrap book but never get time to start it :(

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 17/03/2013 19:30

PR I have those too, as well as traditional baby books. Mine are sort of like little occasional love letters to my monsters. Oh, and get on TWW immediately. As a writer, you will love Aaron Sorkin.

Glenda that sounds super-organised. I love a bit of organisation!

Chasing good to hear you sounding positive. Baby steps. We are all here for you.

Good day here. DD has managed a completely dry day, DS has been a happy smiling baby who rolled over for the second time, and this is perhaps more of a milestone than the first time because it seemed more deliberate and he didnt cry in shock afterwards, and we sorted out the contents of the loft, nothing makes me happier than a spot of decluttering am a massive loser.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2013 19:31

Two years ago exactly I was in labour with DD1. Induced early afternoon with a pessary at my ob gyn's office, popped home to get my bag and feed the pets, went into hospital about an hour ago and round about now was having the epi put in, for a night of snoozing and woozy boredom til they finally decided that I just wasn't going to dilate anymore despite lots of poking and prodding and they'd do a section. Which I had said would happen all along. But they just wanted to try, they said, to get her out the usual way. Bloody scan three days before estimated her at 3kg, she came out well over 4. machines lie.

Two years on she's lying next to me playing with a painting app on the iPad. She's amazing. It's gone so quickly.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2013 19:39

Gazelle that's it - little chatty love letters. I try to write stuff about their relatives, little stories. I also for DD1 put in recipes for things she particularly likes. Obviously haven't done that for LO yet as so far it would be step one, boil carrots, step two, turn to mush :o

Yes, we're still on carrots and bananas. She doesn't seem at her best at the moment, so taking things very slowly.

Pikz · 17/03/2013 19:41

In our family my mum is reminded a lot that my bro has a baby book and I don't and that she doesn't know anything about me as a baby! I therefore am just doing red book but I have a box with his first baby grow, scan pics, all his new baby cards and any little trinkets.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2013 20:01

Oo I like that bp

chasing hope you are ok. Echoe the other thoughts about sofa sleeping really. Try not to think about loosing the friendships of his sisters, you will feel that you need to move on at some point. And to add my two penneth, my two girls are half sisters to my two boys and they all adore each other infact DD1, the oldest wants me to have more. Six more to exact! Hmm

pikz I may well take you up on your offer of a witter.

Hope tomorrow goes well glenda you are being inspiring! Need to get myself just as organised as you this week while O is on long nursery trials.

am feeling guity about the baby books now. I must update before I go back to work. Another job to add to the to do list for before I go back to work.

Evilwater · 17/03/2013 20:09

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2013 20:22

We have a memory box too, with scan pics and first baby gro in. And the t-shirt I wore to give birth in (which I bought aged 12 on my school trip to Germany - little did I know!). I have also kept my pregnancy tests all 3 of them

sophia you could always apply to 16 kids & counting?!
glenda good luck for tomorrow. I've been trying to get into some sort of routine - up, both dressed, me breakfasted, by 8.15, so that when I have to go back to work it won't be quite such a shock for either of us.

Evilwater · 17/03/2013 20:31

Ok I'm trying to read the previous posts but they arnt loading right.

I've also got a box with memory stuff in. I must get a cast of his feet and hands soon

Chasing- we are all here for you. As for Facebook, there is always a problem.

Detective- I don't think your swearing could have caused so much trouble.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2013 20:34

So is everyone going to be watching the programme on Channels 4 on Tuesday abut getting their children to sleep?!!? Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2013 20:45

Already sky-plussed. The advert shows them switching the on/off button on a child. I have yet to locate this vital piece of kit on F.
