Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

Oh det hope something is sorted :( poor boy :(

Can't remember who asked but I have the m & p bumbo type thing and it's really good! LO is getting used to it, and I find it good!

Think I may go on everyone's recommendations and get that ikea high chair, it sounds really good from what everyone has said. Do I not need something that sits on a normal chair for when he's bigger?

Hope you're ok today apple and you too mm1

How is Jonas today yw?

Is Jacob still suffering with his wind vq?

Will be back later, dp is at work earlier all week this week so will get to bed early to sleep and catch up on here

Lily311 · 12/03/2013 17:06

Pennie, the BCG wAs the easiest for O. She didn't even cry, just looked very cross.

Can I ask who does feeding on demand and how often do you feed your little ones? O is getting very chubby, she can hardly manage 3 hours between feeds. I wonder whether at this stage (16 weeks) she should stretch a bit longer. She does sleep through, has a dream feed around midnight. Also she still hates tummy time, has no upper body strength whatsoever,we can hardly manage a min without screaming.

BigPigLittlePig · 12/03/2013 17:13

Lily F is fed on demand (ebf) - during the day she'll go absolute tops of 2.5 hours between feeds, but is usually every 90 minutes or so. She also can't do tummy time - she goes mental rooting on the carpet/rug/playmat then cries. We do tummy time in the bath instead.

Spent a few hours at the childminders this afternoon, she's very good with F, and her son, who's 7, is super excited to have a baby to play with, and was trying to get her interest with a rattle. I feel very lucky to have found a lovely family to help bring F up.

detective hope O starts to turn a corner soon, poor mite.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 12/03/2013 17:17

lily311 we feed on demand still. J manages a 4/5 hour gap after first feed in morning. Then it's usually 3/4 hours til next one and then a further 3hours til one after that. Then as evening comes it goes to 2hrly ish and then at night any bloody thing goes!! If i could get a nice 5 hour gap at night that'd be good but he we are having major sleep problems still.

Oh and I'm back from Glasgow meet up. It was lovely to meet pass, vq, missmummy and cacacaz. I hope you all got home safely! I'm still in a huff about the lack of meatballs!

misslaughalot · 12/03/2013 17:21

Lily I'm still feeding on demand. Babylaughalot will go anywhere between 2.5 and 3.5 hrs between big feeds but often wants a top up snack in between these or a settling feed to get her to nap. She's ebf and 15 weeks old tomorrow.

Thinking of you both MM and Apple. We all know what a strain having a little one is on a relationship, just take the time you need to make the decision that's right for you and your little ones.

Today is the one year anniversary of my BFP Smile

Kyzordz · 12/03/2013 17:36

lily my little lad is 18 weeks tomorrow, he goes 3.5-4 hours and until recently goes 8-9 hours overnight (he is formula fed). He hates tummy time, really hates it, but does 2 mins when I bath him, and does a bit during the day, I roll him about the floor and leave him on his tummy literally seconds longer each time and he enjoys this when in an ok mood :)

rootypig · 12/03/2013 17:40

Scout (19 weeks on Friday) is fed on demand, basically ebf (with the odd bottle of formula thrown in, because I know I want to mix feed from about 6 months when I have my exams, and didn't want to risk her having a benny about it! also because I wanted to see if formula would make her sleep through anyway, digression.)

she has no routine really - she can go 4 /5 hours, but equally sometimes wants a shorter, snacky feed after only a couple of hours or less (am hazarding that this is more for thirst than hunger). I don't even bother keeping At night she wakes every 3 - 4 hours like clockwork to feed and has done for weeks if not months. I'm fairly happy to go with the flow - I don't see how I could get her to go for longer stretches / overnights because once she's decided she wants the nip, she will shout and shout until she gets it! and I don't fancy that at 4am.

re tummy time, do you use a little half moon pillow (we got one with her playmat) or rolled up towel? that really helped build up time with Scout, it stopped her from eating shit on the rug in the early days which she understandably found rather discouraging

rootypig · 12/03/2013 17:40

ps Lily chubby sounds good Grin

YellowWellies · 12/03/2013 17:58

Oh rooty that made me giggle 'slightly discouraging' Smile

The bear has been a clinging koala today. Poor soul. His reflux seems a bit improved from yesterday but its still the worst I've seen it in a while. He's just feverish, miserable and sleepy and cries when his cough wakes him.

He's fed every 1- 2 hours today (I guess we all get thirsty with a fever) but normally goes 2-3 hours during the day. As he normally sleeps through I don't want to reduce day time feeds just yet as he'll only wake me up at night for the calories.

PurplePidjin · 12/03/2013 18:00

R is ebf on demand, usually 2.5-3 hours during the day, cluster 5-7 ish then sleeps 4-5, 2-3, 1-2 over night. Not the best but livable! He's a tummy sleeper and has good head control, but is right down on the 0.4th with a tiny head so less to lift iyswim. He was 16 weeks yesterday.

Aibu? I have an interview next Tuesday. Dp is having lunch with a friend couple of hours paid and has a medical appointment that afternoon so i rang my mum to ask her to have R. My mum who insists she's supportive and a wonderful granny she is good but not as helpful as she thinks considering the circumstances said she can't look after him because she's meeting a friend to go shopping Hmm friend lives a while away, and it's to celebrate both their birthdays, but they're both retired so it's hardly "the only time i can see " surely Angry

horseylady · 12/03/2013 18:03

det not sure which hospital you would go to. I know here the children's a&e is superb and have helped a couple of ladies at babies groups I go to with reflux issues. If you don't get a suitable answer from your gp is it worth going via a&e perhaps? Anyway I hope you've got some answers.

Fwiw ds dropped from 50th to 25th and no one cared!!

YellowWellies · 12/03/2013 18:22

Horsey was E's reflux ever attributed to CMPI? A friend (who ive just got off the phone with) has a DD was diagnosed by a v astute doc in the delivery suite after a day of screaming hysterical refusal of the breast. Turns out the doc reckoned the baby could smell that there was something in the milk which wasn't going to agree with her. It made me think anyway xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/03/2013 18:28

Does anyone know where Scarsbrick is? Confused

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/03/2013 18:29

Sorry Scarisbrick.

Catbag · 12/03/2013 18:39

Er, Lancashire I think sophia

horseylady · 12/03/2013 18:42

No his skin is unrelated to feeding. He's not in pain and the gaviscon is currently working!! His weight drop was him ' finding his line' and projectile vomming after each feed!! I assume he's sti following it. Tbh I've not been for a few weeks. The dr asked me to go to check he wasnt dropping off any more. He hadn't. I might go next week to get him weighed.

horseylady · 12/03/2013 18:47

Oh his lack of bf was given to traumatic birth then association of pain eventually. Plus poor sucking reflex/tongue tie/my flat nipples!! And pretty much neither of having a clue!!

I've written to someone about it actually saying that advise of putting the baby to the breast every three hours and buzzing is not going to help everyone establish breast feeding!! Nor is not having any bf specialists available.

I know what to do and where to get help from if there's a next time!

Lily311 · 12/03/2013 19:25

Thanks, good to know that it's normal to feed her on demand and often. She is getting so big, she has rolls on her arms as well Blush. She has her jabs next thurs, i will go and weigh her. As for tummy time, I really need to practice it with her. Though she really hates it.

Elizadoesdolittle · 12/03/2013 19:40

pp it's a tricky one. I can totally see your point of view but my mum is the same. If I ask her for babysitting and she's not doing anything she'll gladly do it but if she has plans and it doesn't really matter what those plans are she'll say she's not available. Which is fair enough. In the early days I would hate asking for babysitting (didn't stop me doing it) but I now know people are happy to do it, and if they're not they'll say no. Id rather that than my mum moaning about doing it. Does your mum realise how important it is to you? Perhaps she thinks your DH could rearrange his plans. Maybe this shopping event has taken ages to organise. I don't think yabu but then to be fair your mum probably isn't either. Hmmm sitting on the fence there a bit aren't I. Perhaps just stress to your mum how important your DH obligations are and say this situation is very much a once off.

Oh and I hope the interview goes well!

Catbag · 12/03/2013 19:41

Feeling pretty wrathful right now. DH is being an arse. I may set fire to his dreadlocks while he sleeps Angry

Pikz · 12/03/2013 19:57

Oh no cat...what's up?

I am already in bed. Grumpy cheered up the minute I took him swimming and is now gurgling away in his cot. I am zonked after a night and day of grizzling. Praying he pulls one of his sleep through tonight but as he's only done it once I think I have more chance of being pope.

Good luck pjp it's a hard one, is there anyone else you can ask?

Det how was docs?

gardenpixie32 · 12/03/2013 19:57

My c section scar is actually bleeding now :( fucking stupid thing, I can't believe it still hasn't healed properly.

I had quite a bit of blood on and around the opening. I have a doctors appointment for Friday. That will teach me carrying both babies at once up and down the stairs today.

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 19:59

my resolve not to eat chocolate is over eating an easter egg ... d loves the box!
