turkeyEgyptlets · 03/12/2006 08:48

do you get it?

Bozza · 03/12/2006 09:04

Oh egypt it sounds like she has got it bad. You have my total sympathies. When DD had it she basically breastfed solidly through the night and wouldn't be put down, and during the day if I needed to go to the loo I had to hand her to DH and then nip off and then come back and resume duties. And everyone on here said that because she was only 5 months and breastfed she wouldn't be so bad. Really don't know what to do about the nappies, could you pad the bed up with towels/care mats?

Also no-one ever saw DS or DD. Wasn't bothered with DS but with DD I remember being on the phone to the doctor begging to be allowed to give her nurofen in between the calpol (says only with doctor's advise for under 6 months). So basically I think it is fairly standard for them not to be seen. And she really should start to turn the corner soon.

turkEgyptlets · 03/12/2006 10:17

right i've settled on my name now. dd seems quite well today. she only woke once in the night - thank god - and that was just for a drink and a wee! shock horror. no wet bed. in fact didnt wee until just a few minutes ago! most spots have crusted a bit. some are still a little blistery, but no fresh blisters this morning, so hopefully its the start of the end. and we'll be able to go on our christmas party afternoon on thurs with my mum chums. at the softplay place may i add, so it is for the kids really.

my mums arriving soon, this morning. loverly. (dh in china)

Bozza · 03/12/2006 22:21

Maybe if she was running a temp she was sweating away the fluid rather than needing a wee. Or maybe she has just night trained herself?

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndRibbons · 05/12/2006 09:35

Just trying out my Christmas name. Does it work?

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndRibbons · 05/12/2006 09:36

And thought of one for you Judd if you are interested.

kbaby · 05/12/2006 17:20

very good

turkEgyptlets · 05/12/2006 18:28

what was judd's then bozza?

and does ANYONE 'GET' mine!??! i thought it was quite inpsirational of me for a change!

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 05/12/2006 20:01

Well I must admit it took me a couple of days to work it out egypt but I took it as a play on turkey giblets. I hope I got it right.

Judd's was "JuddKingWenceslas". I was sat in the car last night driving back from Meadowhall at about 10pm working them out. How ] am I?

turkEgyptlets · 05/12/2006 20:17

thats a good'un bozza. yes turkey giblets it is. perhaps i should omit the capital E? would that help?!

turkEgyptlets · 05/12/2006 20:19

by the way. dd had her usual drink of milk before bed last night and pee'd herself senseless all night in her sleep. she had the said drink tonight but had a wee before bed. BUT wore a nappy! so we'll see what occurs.

Judd · 05/12/2006 20:24

Ooooh, thank you very much Bozza! I like that very much (have never name changed before coz I've never felt "in" enough despite posting since 2002). I will change it later this evening but I MUST find our membership cards for the sports club first. So annoyed that I've lost them and haven't a clue where they could be.
Will post later under new name

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 05/12/2006 22:41

See that's what comes of moving. You lose things.

DH away again, so I've been busy doing things all evening so just come on here to unwind before I go to bed. Egypt I think I would settle for the nappy for now!

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 05/12/2006 23:48

Bozza. If you are so am I. I found myself working some out a few days ago for everyone whilst in the shower. I had got DeckthehallswithBozzaholly for you but that kind of depends if Helsy is doing the same name this year because you could get confussed. I like what you've done though. Egypt, I had you as WeEgyptyouamerrychristmas but I have to say I got yours straight away and did litterly lol when I saw it. Judd, Juddkingwenselas is brilliant. You should definately use that. I won't even tell you mine for you. It was completely naff.

DS has come up with some right phrases these last few days. He just randomly went up to a friend of ours who he doesn't know that well and said, "Hello Alec, are you very hairy?". He is quite a hairy man, I have to say . Today's phrase of the day was "No Luke, you can't eat Miss Hooley!" in a very cross voice. It turned out he was playing balamory with some toys of his.

We took him to see santa for the first time ever last weekend and it was lovely. We thought he might be a bit scared but he wasn't at all. He did keep turning his back on Santa in mid - conversation though to investigate some fake candles in the room that had caught his eye

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 06/12/2006 09:10

Fantastic that he was OK with Santa. DD was decidedly not last Friday at the school fair. And she is seeing him again on Saturday at the nursery party.

I went to soft play with my neighbour and her 1yo (almost exactly a year younger than DD) on Monday. She took him to change his nppy and DD pipes up in an enquiring tone "has that Ben got a tail?". She calls him "that Ben" because that is DS's name, but she calls DS "my Ben", and then there is another at nursery that she calls by his full name. Nursery started off with the "tails" - wouldn't be my choice of word because it gets confusing.

turkEgyptlets · 06/12/2006 10:09

yes def sticking with the nappy. wanted to anyway, it was just miss bossypants who wanted if off! she kept it on all night and we got an entire night's sleep for the first time in over a week.

you lot make me laugh. dont think i've had an inspirational thought in the shower for 2 years, other than, 'i must clean this'. quick in and out is all! do you leave your lo's running around the house? always wondered. what else can you do? dd wont be shut in the bathroom with me anymore so i dont bother. obv if i had a baby too i'd bring them in.

is it too early to post my christmas cards?

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 06/12/2006 10:51

Egypt. I always have a shower in the evening when they are in bed. I never like to rush my showers and I just can't trust them to leave them alone. There are too many dangerous things they could get up to, even though the house is relatively well baby - proofed! I also have issues with my bathroom, which I won't go into but it wouldn't be good to have them in there with me either

Tails?! I've not heard that before, Bozza. LOL

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 06/12/2006 10:57

Got my first Christmas card yesterday. I'd say it wasn't too early to send them. You've got enough to do over the festive period with getting ready, I'd just get them out of the way!

turkEgyptlets · 06/12/2006 12:00

well, i've posted them ahhhh. satisfied now.

you're very organised ponka. by the time dd is in bed i collapse. besides our shower is so noisy and the pump is in the airing cupboard beside dd's bedroom. it sounds like a lawnmower starting up! sometimes have a bath in the eve though. not often.

miserable rainy windy weather

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 06/12/2006 12:34

Quite often I shower before they get up. But otherwise (weekends and DH not around for instance) I am quite prepared to leave the bathroom door open (well if I closed it DD would be sure to open it anyway) and have a shower. DS will get on with his own thing, and DD will mill around annoying either DS or me.

I haven't even written my cards yet. Might start on it tonight. I was watching Coronation Street from Monday and they all had big lines of cards up and I thought they must be well organised in soap land. We got our first yesterday.

Judd · 06/12/2006 19:34

DD has already started getting Christmas cards from other children in Reception. I haven't even done her Thank You letters for birthday presents yet! I'm hoping I can combine the two and just sit her down for a mass signing.
DS saw Father Christmas on the Round Table float on Sunday night. I told him he would get a lolly if he spoke to FC (I went on the float last year as a helper so I have insider knowledge ). Anyway, DD went up first and asked for a go-kart and DS went up and said he wanted a lolly for Christmas! I think FC was just glad he could at least fulfil one wish immediately!
I tend to shower in the evening, mainly because I have started to straighten my hair so it's a bit of a lengthy process all in all. However, over the summer I just parked them infront of CBeebies or in the garden with the bathroom window wide open and did my stuff quickly.
DD had a Christingle service at school last week. DS was quite taken by it all and keeps asking for the candle to be lit (daren't look at the state of the orange by now) and then he sings "Happy Birthday Dear Orange".
We've had a few weeing accidents over the last couple of weeks. It's always when he's in a different room to me or DH and I just don't think he's yet learnt that he needs plenty of time to a) find one of us b) get upstairs to the toilet c) get kit off and sit down. When we are out, he is also tricky as he insists on having pants, trousers and shoes removed so that he can shuffle right back on the seat so he is sat with his back up against the toilet lid, as if he is riding a horse! Most elegant. Still haven't changed name, will do so forthwith.
Oh, something else amusing. DD has got an imaginary friend Baby Jesus. She keeps handing him to me when she's busy and yesterday she also gave me his imaginary potty incase he needed a wee

Judd · 06/12/2006 21:35

Oh and another thing.....today DS said "Can we play Bingo mummy? It's great fun!"
My children may look nothing like me, but there is a latent Blackpudlian gene somewhere forcing its way to the surface

Judd · 06/12/2006 21:37

And for all those who care...we've found the sports cards. They were in my coat pocket and I incurred the wrath of DH because I insisted I had looked in there and made him go out in the rain to check his car glove compartment.

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 06/12/2006 21:42

Judd you are always highly amusing. DD has tonight gone to bed with a bunch of plastic grapes. She is going through a phase of being awkward at bedtime but she is not your average child wanting a drink or a cuddle, oh no, she wants a selection of random items to cuddle and then tonight we had an argument about which pair of white socks she should wear. She had DH looking for "that blanket" which turned out to be a cot sheet for ages the other night.

WhenHelsygotstuckupthechimney · 08/12/2006 01:43

PONKA! - honestly, hadn't seen your name until now! I'll try and think of another one (goes off humming carols insanely to self)
