Bozza · 23/11/2006 20:24

Actually maybe this one shows what I mean better.

pepperrabbit · 23/11/2006 22:00

To digress back to testicles, hurray hurray, DS1's have landed! the very (very!) nice consultant checked and they are exactly where they should be, though as I say they only got all the way down into his scrotum in the last few weeks.
Bozza - I had no idea until his 8/9 month check up when the HV told me they hadn't descended. They INSISTED they must have been there in the hospital for him to pass all his tests but I pointed out at the time that I've changed a 1000 nappies and they'd never been there. They just refused to listen. It's only since DS2's arrival that I saw how DS1 should have been. I just didn't know at the time and happily assumed all was well. (I kind of thought maybe it all happened at puberty??? IYSWIM)
And DH has been no help at all at any appts, often I've been the only one in the room without testicles and the one doing all the talking/floundering .

kbaby · 24/11/2006 11:58

Bozza - she looks so dainty in the football kit.

ill have to get dh to do the testicle checking

Bozza · 24/11/2006 20:41

ROFL at pepperrabbit being the only one in the room without testicles. It was me that first spotted the absence of one in DS, although DH confirmed, and me who took him to the doctor.

That football kit is an old one of DS's that I found in the loft. DD is immensely proud of it. She is always requesting to wear the socks. So you have a pretty pink dress and some red knee length football socks - erm no.

egypt · 24/11/2006 22:12

aww bozza life must be bliss without having to chase your dd around the house with a brush. we had dd's cut to shoulder length yesterday and layered to keep her curls. she has SO SO much hair. mad hair

i have no idea about testicles. complete mystery to me! what i'd do if we had a boy i dont know.

dh didnt get the job by the way, so thats a relief. we have our flights booked for 7 jan!!!! ooooooo

Bozza · 25/11/2006 19:06

Er bliss - no. She still gets dreadful bedhead! And her hair is fairly unmanageable - fly away and not curly but not straight. And because I have not had a fringe cut in she really needs a clip. So we have to negotiate which clip everyday.

She has been busy dancing tonight. Everytime Stricly Come Dancing is on she has to wear one of her princess dresses and go running around the room like a mad thing.

egypt · 25/11/2006 21:47

oh right. thats ok then! we have the clips too. absolute must. have actually grown her fringe out because she looked even more 'big hair' ish with it. excuse the miserable pic. it was one of several attempts to get a reasonable one for her visa application~!

spots · 25/11/2006 22:00

How frustrating, I can only open Egypt's pic! Not that it isn't lovely Egypt - she is so pretty! but I'd love to see the Bozza and Kbaby ones too. (Even if only to see Kbaby's amaxing wipe-clean furniture.)

mad hair here, no not really... she's still got that awful toddler mullet thing going on. And DD2 looks like someone's taken two egg whisks to her head. I was at a Xmas fair thing today that was full of stylish children, made me realise what urchins mine are. I never never buy them new things. Maybe I should start. Just can't bear shopping with kids intow, and we get such good hand-me-downs.

I am laughuing at the finding testicles in the bath thing. I found what I thought was a testicle in DD2's lava l;amp yesterday. The lava had congealed and gone all wrinkly and flaky. I'll swap somebody who's short of a testicle, my spare one for a natty hair do for DD1?

Bozza · 26/11/2006 12:25

LOL at spots. I have looked at my photos and they seem to be in a public album with no password on. Maybe have another go.

Egypt her hair is gorgeous but I think no fringe is probably the way to go with curly hair. Ihave to buy new clothes for DS and it is traumatic because he doesn't like going shopping but is also fussy about what I wear. DD has been very lucky with handmedowns. She will also get clothes bought at Christmas but they will all be too big (2-3).

helsy · 26/11/2006 15:54

Dd2 has no testicles and no hair - sounds like a good thing! Always knew I wouldn't know what to do if I had boys, and I never had long hair so I don't know what to do with that either!

A neighbour who is moving brought round a bag full of great dressing up clothes for dd2 yesterday, all washed and ironed. I was so embarrassed because I knew they'd be destroyed after a week in our house . Anyway, Dh was telling off dd1 in the kitchen last night - one of his Very Serious Lectures - when Dd2 walked in dressed in a giant nurse's uniform, started wagging her finger and saying "what's going on here then?" - comic genius!
Ponka, you're right, I won't be able to go to Nottingham on Tuesday after being off most of last week - another time.
Bozza and Egypt, your children are lovely.

kbaby · 27/11/2006 20:37

egypt - Youll be flying out on my 30th Birthday and your DD has lovely hair, I always wanted curly hair.

spots- lol at the testicle but believe me you dont want the hair, we have a fight every morning over brushing it, then its what clips/ponytail/pigtails to wear, then just when I have it brushed nice and about to put the bobble in she does a runner with me trying to keep hold of her hair.

DD's comment of the week has been ' Dont put your finger in my bum or ill wee on it' This was said because her nappy was falling down and I was tickling her bum. Where do they pick these things up??

egypt · 27/11/2006 22:31

lol kbaby, i'm going to use that phrase with dh later! hee hee

dd's hair is lovely, when it's brushed...which isnt often. although saying that for some strange reason she let me do it this morning without even noticing it seems. odd. she was watching tikkabilla but even higgledy house doesnt usually do it for us.

my bday is the 5th jan kbaby! guess i'll be packing on that day.

kbaby · 29/11/2006 10:40

egypt - just think what a fab experience your all going to have.

pepperrabbit · 29/11/2006 12:06

Do you ever look round your house and wonder if you've actually been burgled?? We hosted coffee yesterday morning for 6 toddlers, and I've got another 4 coming round this afternoon all with younger siblings. It's such a mess I'm just sitting at the computer ignoring it.... Is there any point tidying up before the next lot arrive??? I have at least washed up all the cups and beakers from yesterday (all the ones I've located that is...)

And just to lower the tone again, and without TMI, has anyone any suggestions to help with DS1's constipation?? Sent home from nursery on Fri in distress which turned out to be constipation, sorted that with a hot bath and prune juice/fruit pots and satsumas, but now he hasn't been since sunday night again. Until last week he was an everyday at bathtime kind of boy. Not sure what to do and don't want to get into a cycle/pattern.

Bozza · 29/11/2006 12:15

Do you have any idea what is causing it pr? Obviously make sure he has plenty of fluids, and fruit etc, but it sounds like you are doing that anyway. Otherwise maybe take him to the doctor and get some lactulose. We had to do this with DS when he was this sort of age. DS was always a really poor drinker though.

pepperrabbit · 29/11/2006 12:20

The only change we have made to his diet is to change brands of yoghurt to one that's got pre & pro biotics apparently - which you would have thought would help? They looked nice - I'm not that bothered by the purported health benefits of yogurt personally He has such a limited diet that change is very easy to spot! I have asked him several times if he needs a poo and he just says no, he doesn;t seem distressed today but I can't help thinking it's only a matter of time.

egypt · 29/11/2006 13:51

pepperrabbit, i dont know what to suggest sorry. never had to deal with constipation.

am after some advice too though. think dd has chicken pox. she has watery blisters all over her back, one or two behind ears and one on forehead, one on stomach, none on legs or arms. she hasnt been ill in the last week and is fighting fit, but they def seem like chicken pox is described. anyone got a pic of them..and our docs is closed this afternoon!

i have had it (being preg, am bit concerned)

Bozza · 29/11/2006 20:59

They do sounds like it egypt. Not really got a picture off hand. If you have had it you should be OK. I thought the danger was to pregnant women in the first trimester or when about to give birth which should mean you are doubly OK! DS was not ill until the spots had been out a couple of days and then not too bad. He was 3. DD was a baby and was awful.

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 01/12/2006 21:35

It does sound like chickenpox, Egypt . I wouldn't worry if you have had it but you could always have a quick word with your midwife if you are worried. It might put your mind at rest.

I've got no advice, Pepperrabbit. DS1's problems have previously been of the opposite nature. I do find that wheat and bran products help get things moving, too. Hope he gets better soon.

Lovely photos, everyone. They are all so cute. It's so much easier having 2 boys. I'll never have to detangle long hair!

Helsy, not to worry. Another time. I did lurk on here quickly earlier than today to check if you could make it. Just didn't have time to post.

A very close friend of mine (who already has a DD) has just had her scan today and there was a little surprise for her. She's having twins! I'm so excited!

egypt · 01/12/2006 21:43

ooo that is exciting ponka. how does she feel about that?

well, dd is as spotty as anything. she has well and truly got chicken pox. poor thing. up all night with her last night and she hardly napped more than half an hour today. she didnt go to sleep until 9 tonight. i know i'll be up with her in the night tonight. both knackered. she's wondering who hurt her! just doesnt understand why she is in so much pain. bless.

funny thing is, i just described her rash over the phone to hv yesterday and she said it was cp. no one has seen it to confirm it! isnt that wrong? its going in her notes and everything. i know in myself it is that, but how can they possibly know for sure wihtout seeing her. she may get to an adult wihtout having it then fall pregnant and catch it! i mean, i know she cant but how can they?

Judd · 01/12/2006 21:52

Egypt - did you get your will sorted? Did you go for a kit or a solicitor in the end?
I heartily recommend going away for the weekend and leaving your children chez relatives. We had a fab time in Denmark. DH didn't need his food cutting up, took himself to the toilet when he needed to, didn't have a tantrum if I pressed the lift button, never needed carrying.
DD's 5th birthday on Monday, her party is tomorrow. DH has made a penguins in igloo birthday cake (v good) but he won't let me get the Scooby Doo micro scooter out of the box to...ahem.....check over (very selfish).
The other day I was playing "lovely and yucky" with the children whilst we were waiting in a queue and I had no emergency toys in my bag(eg. Is daddy lovely or yucky?). DD said that DS was yucky (all very good humoured) and he burst into tears and said "I want to be lovely to DD". Little poppet.

egypt · 01/12/2006 21:58

aww judd. i agree going away without children is rather fab. 12 nights is poss too long but well enjoyable anyway!

not got a will done yet no, but is on my list of jobs (ie not dh's) and despite it being on my list we are doing it his way and not going to a solicitor. whsmith i think...

bum, dd is waking.......

kbaby · 02/12/2006 20:37

Egypt I hope your DD recovers soon.

Do you know I think we are the oldest active post natal group

therewontbesnowinEgyptthischri · 02/12/2006 21:22

oo i think we are. what happened to april 04. i remember us having an ongoing competition with them at the start.

therewontbesnowinEgyptthischri · 02/12/2006 21:32

oh no, my whole new name doesnt fit. better change it

dd only just gone to bed. shes wearing no nappy and has already decided just to wee and not tell me. wont let me change her. now she's gone to sleep. oh what to do? she wont wear a nappy cos of the spots. but wetting herself wakes her up. like EVERY HALF AN HOUR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE NIGHT. i must go to bed......

but Take That are on....
